An excellent representation of Whitianga's history. Thoroughly impressed with the quality of information and amazing displays. And so much more than expected! The museum is a real credit to the workers behind the scenes. Thank you for your passion.
E.
Great displays on the local history and environment. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Overall, pretty good for a small-town museum.
A.

G.
Small museum, if you want to see some local history, this is the place
L.
What a fantastic place. Make sure you have plenty of time to see the local history; from Cook's arrival, local historical personalities and the flora and fauna of the area. Great displays of kauri/gum harvesting and farming displays.
h.
Fabulous museum to learn about the regions history, is bigger inside than it looks. Staff were wonderful to deal with, well worth a visit 👍
A.
Great little museum, displays created with great care, a good mix of topics and plenty for kids. My husband and I spent a happy hour wandering around.
J.
A GEM!! It might be small, but you will be amazed at what you learn about the history of the area and particularly the information about Capt James Cook's legacy and contribution to New Zealand. The movie, not so much but the degree of information in the displays was great and a real credit to the team who have put it all together and who voluntarily run the museum. Lovely shop and great Captain Cook book selection. Congratulations and Thank You for a wonderful afternoon of browsing and learning.
G.
Really interesting, well thought out with lots of content.
Based in the town's old dairy.
D.
I was suprised at how extensive it was once I was inside. Very interesting and informative for a smaller town museum, especially if you want to read some of Cooks accounts of early contact with locals, get your heart racing as you have flashbacks to your primary school teacher and always wondered what half a ton of butter looked like!
S.
A charming museum, run by locals, but with stories of international significance. Well worth taking an hour or if your day to visit and find out about Cook, butter churning, historic school rooms, recreated workshops and kauri trees.
R.
Fantastic experience especially having gone to school there the gaudians have done a great job and very willing too involve in conversation well worth the effort highly recommend!!
D.
Excellent little local history museum.
S.
well worth the entry fee
A.
It was like Dr Who's TARDIS. It didnt look very big outside, but there was a lot more inside than expected. Learned how James Cook was able to plot where New Zealand was using the Transit of Mercury across the Sun. Somehow being in New Zealand but learning about another Brit seemed odd, yet satisfying at the same time. There are other exhibits too which speak to the area as a whole. There is a small admission fee but I felt it was money well spent.
M.
Very lovely and tiny museum packed with a lot of stuff, informations and tiny details everywhere. Ver friendly and welcoming owner. A wonderful mixture between an historic museum and a curiosity cabinet. Worth the approximately 90min visit!
R.
