Head piece snapped off vintage Eko 12-string acoustic guitar. Great repair, very pleased, just like it had never snapped. Highly recommend. AAA+

I bought the finest bow today from John Hewitt. It was expensive and worth every penny. Now I can play string crossings in the Bach suites with ease. It's light and well balanced so that it gives me control even at the tip. I was pleasantly surprised at the sensitivity. When I aimed for an "mezzo forte" it responded with such immediacy and with the correct volume it gave me a surge of joy! This company has provided string player across the country with good quality instruments that speak for themselves. Thank you John!

A cute and quirky little shop, slightly hidden behind Fresho. I went there completely clueless as I'm just starting to teach myself how to play. Lovely selection of string instruments, great prices and really nice and helpful people - definitely recommended!

Got my brand new violin looked into as soon as I got it, and they picked up on things we didn't initially notice. I ended up getting the bridge sanded down, soundpost repositioned, and fine tuners installed on the G, D, and A strings. Now it sounds better than ever, all for a very reasonable price. They even gave me a chance to try the centuries-old thousand-dollar violins. Will come here again when I get my electric and acoustic electric. Highly recommended.

Such a great shop, friendly bunch of staff, and better prices than most other places around Auckland. They take great time and care with fixing up your guitar too. Perfectionists. Highly recommend

This is an old style repair and sales shop, and they obviously care about what they do. To be honest I am not a musician, but I spent some time talking with one of the owners and looked through some beautiful old violines, modern manderlines, and guitares. watching him with his customers, he/they obviously care. In my humble opinion, if you need a repair or advice, or a new/old equipment come to these guys.

John and his son have an exemplary service - they are very knowledgeable about the items they sell, having been in the trade for many years. My wife purchased a fantastic Cello here, and I am the proud owner of a custom make Kapono Ukulele made by Hewitt's Fiddle Shop. They sell a great range of Cellos, Violas, Violins, Guitars, Ukuleles and cases, they have the very light weight carbon fibre ones for Cellos in a range of colours. I heartily recommend this shop!

I took a small violin to Hewitt's for restoration . They did a wonderful job on it . With new varnish -a fresh bridge and strings . The proprietor even personally delivered it to my son's place of work .

I purchased the most beautiful Tahitian ukulele made by Hewitt's.... it was so Beautiful my brother in law begged me for it. i miss my Uke so much i am now in the process of saving up to purchase me another one.....

Such a wide range of instruments!!and I have never been in any other shop where the staff are as friendly,helpful and knowledgeable,it's one of my favourite places to go One of the staff is going teach me banjo,can't recommend this shop highly enough!!
