I recently took my most prized guitar in for a complete re-fret and replacement of electronics and his work on it was just outstanding. The level of care and detail he applied to all aspects are just fantastic and I just love the outcome - it's the best my guitar has felt in ... ever. Thank you, Andries!

Andries is a top notch bloke with a real passion for what he does. He took on a project of mine and walked me through a few suggestions to get the best out of my setup. The turnaround time was quicker than anywhere else, priced extremely reasonably and the workmanship is second to none. On top of everything else, Andries is a pleasure to deal with and is a genuinely interesting guy with a whole lot of knowledge on all things guitar related. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone wanting some work done on a guitar.

Extremely professional and friendly. Helped me as a beginner to bass with a ton of helpful advice. Was super quick and efficient, clearly knows his stuff. Would recommend to anyone at any level of guitar knowledge

Excellent customer service. I went here to get a new nut fitted on my Fender Stratocaster as my regular guitar tech was snowed under! I was impressed by Andries straight away on the phone as I was spoken to like a client rather than "mate" or "bro" (which I tend to get kinda sick of). Upon arriving he did the whole job while I waited and also told me the cost upfront before doing it. No leaving my instrument there. In and out. Simple. Work was great. Reasonable prices. Great conversation. If only everything was this easy.

Super nice guy and really great service. In the hour I was there, I learned more about guitars than 30 years of tinkering. Andries not only fixed the issue in minutes, he also took the time to teach me what he was doing. I couldn't believe some of the repairs this guy could do, he is more of a guitar surgeon! I can't recommend The Fret Shop enough.

Guitar plays great after a set up and pickup replacement. Very well priced. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely phenomenal service, custom made a nut for my bass, and cleaned and tightened everything while he was at it, aswell as glued and clamped the fretboard down as it was coming away. Called Tuesday around 12pm, dropped it off 1:30pm, picked up same time next day. Definetly recommend, my new go to guy for anything guitar.

Went to get rid of some fret buzzing and lower the action on my new secondhand guitar and found out that it was beyond repair. What I got instead of a repair was a lovely 45 minute discussion about all aspects of guitars, and guitar repair. Andries was a knowledgeable, honest, and friendly luthier and ill definitely be back once I've got a guitar worth working on!

I have this man's number saved in my phone under the name "lord luthier" this is no small statement. Andreas services all my guitars, of which I have like a dozen, as well as all my band mates guitars too. His expertise in upgrades and his ability to bring the playable ceiling of your guitar to new heights is unparalleled. I'm so glad this man exists, 10/10 go take your guitar there. Even if it doesnt need obvious work, theres always a way Andreas can make it better.

I was extremely happy with how Andries operates, he allowed me to sit in while he went through every step of servicing my guitar, the whole proccess was very customer focused and really informative. We cranked Pink Floyds the Wall while going through the service and it just made it such a great experience if ill be honest. I will definitely go back for any servicing I need on my guitar.

I got in touch with Andries to bring my 20+ year old Les Paul back to life which was in need of a good spruce up. Andries is fantastic at what he does! He did a truely exceptional job on my guitar, it plays beautifully and looks fantastic! He really went the extra mile in his work to simply make the instrument the best it could be. I also found Andries to be a good communicator and his turn around time was exceptional.

I've found my new guitar tech. Unmatched service and such a nice guy too. No request seems to be an issue and he doesn't treat you like an idiot as some in the industry do. Can't recommend him highly enough. I've tried pretty much everyone in Auckland for my guitars and he's head and shoulders above the rest.

Wonderful to have a luthier with such a wealth of experience in repair, maintenance and manufacture of stringed instruments here in North Shore. Andries is also a great source of information on the history and manufacture of both acoustic and electric instruments and we look forward to a thriving business for him in our community.

After speaking to the staff at Music planet Albany and Rock shop Albany and finding out they BOTH send their guitar repairs to Andries (The Fretshop) it's clear to me he's the best around. I sent him our families old 1960s 12 string to see what he could do about giving it a bit of life. Andries was exceptional. Gave me great service, cleaned up the fretboard, restrung her and even tested the pickup. Then on top of that gave me a discount after we had had a fat chat. I paid him in full anyway! Andries went above and beyond, was incredibly transparent and is truly passionate about his craft. In no uncertain terms... This is the shop to send your guitar to. Seriously.

Andries has a vast wealth of knowledge and is passionate about his trade as a guitar luthier. If you want outside the box then take your time to ask the questions, and let Andries disseminate the fact from fiction and the dream to reality.

Andries is an incredibly skilled luthier. He has worked on my Maton acoustic and Music Man electric guitars and the results are amazing - both playing and sounding amazing and looking great. Thanks, Andries.
