An amazing shop, very helpful and friendly staff.
It is great to see the staff working on instruments. I will certainly be bring my violin for services and any repairs in the future.

Great shop. very helpful staff. I took multiple violins home to try for a week each and I ended up getting a really nice violin from here. Also, the violin I liked needed some adjustment (the action was too high) and they fixed it for me (for free). Great shop! If you want to buy a stringed instrument, I think its definitely better to go here rather than get a factory made instrument from one of the big music stores.

The terms and conditions of the hireage were VERY clear, the instrument of choice was shown to me along with how to care for it.... and while I left feeling almost too scared to even touch the instrument anymore (semi-joking), they were very knowledgeable and I had every confidence the instrument of choice was in a condition I could use, tuned and I was shown how to take the item in and out of the bag - which, as someone who is starting out as an adult with no prior knowledge, was appreciated. I wasn't judged for having no prior knowledge either, in fact I purchased a practice mute to go with the instrument (for my poor neighbors' sake) and they kindly showed me how to attach it as well. Yes, I understand they want to keep their item in good condition but it was appreciated nonetheless. As a heads up, parking is very sketchy in the area given the businesses around the unit, so I would recommend coming as a pair and have the other drive around so you aren't towed or having to park illegally. Also recommend setting aside an hour for hireage, the process is about 30mins itself but they are very popular so you may need to hold fire in the waiting space. Good luck to any future learners!

The people are very friendly and knowledgable. Cost is reasonable. They restored a very old and battered violin for me made about 1910. It now sounds beautiful and a real delight to listen to. It was renovated in a relatively short time given the amount of work needed.

Really had to take advantage of the opportunity to reexperience the sights, smells and aesthetics of a centre where luthiers (?) work their day-to-day magic! The 'shop' alone is visually exquisite! (IMHO!)

I went there to buy new chinrest for my daughter. The staff helped finding the right one for her, tried every option on her violin.
Worth traveling from Northshore.
Very friendly.

My Dad decided to have the Cello that his grandfather had made in 1918 for his father restored. It was in an unplayable condition and due to storeage issues and being dropped had extensive cracking and damage. After ringing around we asked for recommendations and were directed to the string instrument company. This was a long slow restoration and we were given detailed quotes and documentation, regular updates and the team were very generous with their time to let my dad visit during the restoration. It was very moving to have Sophie play us the cello for the first time in more than 40 plus years. Thank you for all your hard work.

If your instrument needs any fixing or adjusting, this is definitely the place to go. I went there to get my chin rest changed and the sound post adjusted. New rest feels more comfortable, and I like the new sound better.

We brought in my great grandmother's violin to be refurbished, and they did an amazing job, lovingly restoring her to her former glory. The sound is absolutely heavenly. It took a bit longer than estimated due to the Xmas and New Year holidays, but the quality of the workmanship was definitely with the wait. The billing was itemized and fair. We might come back and book to get the violin professionally valued for insurance purposes.
