L.
Awesome venue for music gigs. Bar selection wasn't very wide but there was something for everyone. Plenty of space, toilets were very tidy and clean, staff were friendly.
B.
Awesome venue cosy 2 levels licensed bar large stage historic many great artists have played here we got to witness some new upcoming talent ..
M.
Great venue, came here a while ago to see Melanie Martinez. It’s a small venue so it means you’ll never be too far away from the stage. Not super packed, had room to breathe around the outside of the mosh pit. Upstairs was an R18 area for those who wished to drink. Good sound and lighting. Really enjoyed the overall experience, wasn’t too expensive either.
P.
Just like it was 25 years ago, except it's less smokey. Great venue for a few hundred punters. Easy to get up to the front of the stage, big bar down the back, good views from most parts of the floor. The sound mixing wasn't quite right, but I had a great night anyway.
v.
Good place love the acoustics and great crowd. Been there for the Joe Satriani concert and totally loved it.
Just a note, there is no parking at the venue and to find free parking is usually difficult at the concert days. Best bet is to Uber to the place
M.
This is my favourite gig space in Auckland. It's the perfect size and shape to get a huge vibe but still feel intimate. Every act I've seen here was surprisingly epic. The drink cue is never too large due to the simple bar layout and the upstairs balcony creates a unique feel and aesthetic, it's also a great place to watch from. The acoustic environment is great as well. Unlike most venues in Auckland. Love it.
F.
Powerstation is always good vibes. Best place for a gig in Auckland with the upstairs downstairs option. Went for dope lemon and lime cordiale both were awesome.
G.
Lots of bartenders on duty makes getting a drink pretty easy and the space is great for cramming into the dancefloor and enjoying a good show. Speakers can get a little loud, so I'd recommend bringing earplugs but otherwise, this is a solid event space.
C.
What an incredible music venue! I went to see Fleet Foxes and was unsure how early I needed to show up to secure a good spot but an hour before doors opened was plenty to get us right in front of the stage. It's a pretty small venue so even if you came later you should be able to get a decent view. There's the ground floor area as well as an upper floor balcony. The venue is R18 and there's a bar downstairs. There is no allocated seating but there are a few seats around the edges and staff seemed helpful about accommodating those who needed to sit (e.g. there was one woman attending on crutches). It's a great intimate venue without the craziness of somewhere like spark arena and I will definitely be returning next time someone I want to see plays here!
M.
Went to see Teskey Brothers (who were awesome!!!), cool venue, been around for as long as I can remember so it's well set up for live gigs. Staff were pretty friendly, not a huge beer selection, but didn't really matter. Top spot!
D.
Had a whale of time. Watched, listened, and danced to Stiff Little Fingers, who I've been a fan of since the late '70's.
Seen many other bands there, and it definitely holds up, as a great venue.
J.
One of the better "not a stadium or arena" music venues in New Zealand. Big enough to not feel cramped, but small enough to feel intimate. And most importantly the sound quality is always good.
Plus there's always plenty of taxis to get home afterwards.
M.
Best spot in AK for a live show I reckon. The balcony means there's heaps of good viewing and it's real easy to get up close and personal with your heroes downstairs.
Pro tip: Hunt out the secret lounge bar upstairs between acts.
l.
Nice small venue for a concert. Seating in the sides, bar & room for standing. Upstairs balcony.
A.
Absolutely outstanding venue - amazing to be able to get so close to great bands. Easy to get a drink at the bar and top views from the balcony if you fancy it.
B.
Great live music venue with great sound and, as others have said, the perfect size and shape so that everyone gets a good experience and are not too far from the stage. Option to view from the mezzanine floor if being amongst the crowd dancing on the main level is not your thing. I have many great memories from live shows I have seen there over the years.
A.
Only got to be on the top floor, but the view was perfect. Top floor also had air conditioning so that it never got too hot. Loved the overall experience.
G.
Great venue that makes concerts personal. Room to stand upstairs or right down by the stage. Plenty of parking on the surrounding streets. Bar staff are awesome!
P.
Very cool venue, for those mid range intimate gigs. Full bar service and a great view of the stage from everywhere
L.
This place still looks the same from over 15 years ago. Great venue but does need an upgrade. Other than that the performances on the night were awesome. I was upstairs so could see and hear evening clearly.
C.
Hands down the best venue in Tamaki Makaurau for those acts that have not yet succumbed to the falsehood that bigger is better. People always give the guests a warm reception and show genuine appreciation for the great sound and intimate atmosphere that almost never disappoints. Don't ever change it!
E.
Great venue, only been once, but watching NSP and TWRP was a fantastic experience.
J.
Nice venue even being up stairs I could still see really well
V.
Nice acoustics in a cosy venue. They offered free water, which was a bonus. Saw Kimbra here and had fun!
G.
Great place to watch one of my faves. Great sound and cool atmosphere/environment.
T.
Great venue, only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is beer selection could be better.
H.
Love this venue for concerts - LANY
L.
Amazing venue, I prefer the upstairs part. I managed to get some really good photos
B.
Best music venue in Auckland. Been so many shows here over the last 25 or so years. Great sound. Can see the stage easily and great up stairs area. Great to be able to see bands in a smaller venue than you would might not get in other countries. Last of the good venues with no kings arms and st James.
M.
Great music venue, good view of the stage from all over. Large well staffed bar with a limited but sufficient variety of both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. The night we were there, free water was on offer. Also has upstairs area, some seating available.
T.
Really well laid out and equipped venue, great to have the balcony and floor options, plus easy entry and exits. Had a great time at the gig and will definitely keep an eye out for more at this venue 😊
T.
Nice venue with generally good views of the stage from wherever you're standing. Lighting and sound is absolutely fantastic. Always a decent amount of people working so getting in and getting drinks tends to not take too long.
G.
This place is great. It's good for short people who want to see the stage. It's easy to get to (bus and train are very close by). Two bars. Good ambience. Good sound system. It's a live music venue, so the bands and music is always up to personal taste haha
J.
Amazing band. Third time here. Little disappointed in the quality of the audio, and felt the staff doing the mixing did very Average job. Lead singers voice was masked by too much bass including too much echo, and speakers were running too high a volume and starting to distort.
Also felt the non alcoholic drinks should be priced at a reasonable rate to aid sober drivers. Hopefully will see management take this onboard. Otherwise a great venue.
R.
Excellent venue!! Been here a few times for some great concerts over the past few years. Most recent concert was From The Jam, awesome awesome night out with the other half!! Always a great variety of friendly concert goers too. 😁
M.
My favourite venue for concerts! I have had both good and bad experiences here but the bad had been apologised for. Make sure you only use your phone camera during concerts as they really do not like any dslr cameras (no flash) as they assume you are professionally taking photos. if you want to use a dslr, apply for a media pass. Other than that- great venue, always a pleasure to attend a concert here.
A.
Great place to watch an energetic live act. SLF and then the Sleafod Mods.
O.
Fantastic sound at Gomez last night. Best sound since Peter Hook and the Light at the Studio. Gomez were outstanding, crowd were brilliant too. First sell out here that I remember, but still had space. Another great night at the Powerstation....a real Auckland institution.
E.
Great venue for about 1,000. Some fantastic acts play here. One of the few medium sized venues left now Kings Arms closed.
Dark interior reminiscent of a nightclub, you are never far from the stage.
Sound quality can be hit and miss and the toilet are a disgrace.
Cloakroom is a bargain.
B.
Auckland's iconic entertainment venue, operated by a tight team for whom music is obviously a passion, not just a business.
A recent customer-focussed internal rebuild created a stylish, comfortable venue with excellent acoustics. Powerstation is a venue that exceeds expectations in many ways.
The talent menu is as extensive as ever - a quality mix of established legends & exciting newcomers on stage every month since forever. Ki
R.
Seven play here on 23 April 2019. Powerstation has been a live music venue for over 3 decades.
D.
Pretty cool venue. Nice and intimate location that's big enough to make the concerts feel exciting yet small enough that it feels like a personal experience. Bar isn't very well stocked though but that's not really the reason you'd go here.
T.
Gomez gig celebrating 20 year anniversary of Liquid Skin, along with debut album Bring It On was an epic party. The atmosphere was electric, the crowd in festive mood and the 5 band members seemed to genuinely be enjoying themselves. Such talented musicians and vocalists never disappoint; this band has played in Auckland numerous times over the duration of their musical career and this was quite possibly the most fun gig of all. Bring on a new album and a return visit Gomez!
J.
The main place to go for concerts. Well, for the bands that pull a smaller following. Usually fast bar service.
M.
Always one of my favourite places to go for a gig
a.
Great concert by Midge Ure and supporting act The Mockers.
M.
The concert was brilliant. Bats, Chills and first up Purple Pilgrims. Great nz Dunedin music.
L.
Thoroughly enjoyed, only downside was that it had to end!
Cool venue in the fact that even at the back you are still closer to the artist than you would likely be in a stadium show.
Drinks were easy to get after the initial onrush and I stood on one of the many couches so I had an uninterrupted view.
Dermot Kennedy gave a wonderful performance as did Jeremy Redmore, the warm up act.
Definitely would recommend to anyone worried about not being able to see their favourite artist when paying so much for a ticket.
B.
Lindsay Sterling - awesome! Our kids first experience at a concert.
A great venue allowing for 2 separate families & adults area. Great venue for concerts of smaller or less known artists.
T.
What a place. This is the best venue for small and intimate shows. Best ones I've seen to date were The Black Crowes, Gary Clark Jr, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, The Temper Trap, and most recently, the Teskey Brothers. Lost count of the many shows but it's always a fun place to be.
S.
BEST venue in Auckland to watch any life performance. Great viewing options from the floor as well as from the balcony. When photographers are allowed to use the photopit at this venue, it's a fantastic experience for their proffesion. The lighting situation is fair, though the stage is heavily back lit even though they do have front of house lighting and seem to decide to not use it, which makes no sense.
M.
Quite good as a smaller, more intimate venue for concerts. However, as they serve alcohol, they need to provide security to keep an eye on and throw out trouble makers. Last time I was there, a whole lot of us got covered in beer from drunks who through it was a good idea to spray their drinks over the crowd and throw full beer cans.
D.
Simply put this may well be the best live venue in Auckland. Small enough that you never feel far from the band and big enough that when things go off, it's rowdy. It's standing downstairs and you can get really close if you want too. Superb.
L.
A very intimate venue that immerses you in the artist/bands performance. You can feel the rich culture of music in every corner of the building. Fantastic place!
I.
Great venue. Great music.
Pic of Fire For Glory's Josh.
B.
Nice venue and awesome artist and bands always
S.
JAMES - Absolutely amazing! This venue lends itself perfectly to enjoy the music as the artist intended - the spiralling combination of an 8 piece band was stunning - here's hoping they make the return for a 3rd time soon!
N.
Attended Callum Scott's concert and loved it! Great venue!
K.
One of the best venues in Auckland. We had a blast, the show was pretty packed but the event seemed well organized. Can't wait for the next event.
J.
Always a great gig here, with excellent acoustics and sightlines.
S.
Great venue, awesome acoustics, efficient bar staff. Big enough place to allow a fun crowd atmosphere but small enough that you can get close to the band for an intimate rock n roll experience.
R.
Handy to a few bars and quick eats. Acoustics and lighting were fine for me. Space to move. Ventilation was good. Some comfortable seating if you got in early. Short walk back to city.
J.
I've been here before and it has been good, but the last event I was to attend got canceled at the last minute by the venue owner which was very disappointing. Car parking can be a challenge as there's only limited amounts on nearby roads.
C.
You've got to be in just the right spot to get good sound. Could have just been an anomaly this particular night but sound from the balconies was very bad. Front and center on the floor was better, obviously. Band was perfect.
D.
Awesome venue! Small but you get so close to the band. Great view from anywhere and sound quality is high.
m.
Powerstation is a fantastic venue with a really amazing and clear sound system. A must visit for all music fans
S.
Great concerts. Drinks are a bit light and expensive, but the groups they bring in and the venue itself are very cool. Ticket prices are good.
L.
Such a great venue! Don't think I've been to a show that had bad sound or lighting here. Class!
J.
It sucks that the all ages area is confined to upstairs because "there's a bar downstairs" there's also one upstairs too so? I was looking forward to getting close to the stage at Andy Grammer but was told i couldn't go downstairs because I had an all ages ticket.
S.
Bay City Rollers concert. Awesome concert great venue.
N.
Awesome live music venue. Staff were friendly and the production is decent. Definately a great place to see some great live music
A.
Great ambience, lighting and sounds.
C.
Such a great small venue had amazing night. Drinks prob cheaper than city sound fantastic
E.
Awsome night but security could have been better at getting the drunks out
K.
My favourite venue to see acts. Love how more intimate and close up you are to the musicians it feels much more immersive. Always a 🔥 here.
d.
Nice venue to see a concert! The size of a small theater, the sound is good and there doesnt seem to be a bad view in the house.
B.
Powerstation Rocks.
One of my favorite locations for a gig.
Sweet layout. Choice sound. A+
Guaranteed great night!
S.
One of the best live music venues in Auckland. Not too big, easy to get to bar and toilets etc.
S.
We want here to see Halestorm. It's a great little live venue so you always feel close to the stage. Parking is available nearby on the streets.
H.
Great venue! Perfect for when you want to go to a concert then continue the party in town which is just a short walk from here!
T.
Love this venue. Second event I've been to here and it never disappoints.
B.
My favourite concert venue anywhere.
You are never far from the action, the sound is great, and you can easily use the facilities or bar.
M.
I've been going to gigs here since 1988. In my opinion this if the best place for live music in Auckland.
S.
The Powerstation! what a great, intimate venue. I went to Lauv with a friend, and I thought it was a great set up - excellent sound, friendly, helpful staff and it was also managed well by security. Would definitely recommend.
C.
Best music venue in Auckland by some margin - not too big, not too small, great acoustics and always a great vibe.
D.
Very cramped for when Nas came to NZ. Trying to navigate your way through sweaty people can be quite claustrophobic for others.
The venue provided free water which was good for me, got patted down on the way in but somehow some sneaky people still snuck in the illegal trees. I don't think most people even went for Nas, everyone just wanted to get high lol.
A.
The top medium-large venue in Auckland. Has an outdoor area to catch some air, and can host any crowd smaller than an arena for our international guests.
S.
Probably Auckland's best venue. The room sounds great and some amazing acts come through here.
D.
Fantastic place , good crowd he band we saw which was Devil Skin was awesome , plus the 2 other bands had us rocking
S.
One of my favourite live music venues.
So many great bands have played here
J.
Fantastic venue. Great sound system. Well kept amenities. Good range of drinks available.
C.
Great little venue, with a saloon bar atmosphere. Good lighting and decor. Toilets were clean considering the numbers there
m.
Great sound. Not the best beer selection. Hard to find a park on the street, take the train. It's right next to the north western line
J.
One of my favourite venues to see live music. Big enough to attract the 'big' ones; small enough to keep the gig up close and special.
M.
Really great venue, not too huge but still has a good vibe and atmosphere.
A.
Great venue. Could do with lil tlc / renovation but over all never had a bad show there
M.
Awesome venue. Just the right size
P.
Great venue, have enjoyed so many band's here for over twenty years
F.
Great venue, never had a bad time here, can always get a good view from somewhere, and smallish cozy venue
S.
Best live music venue. Great sound and atmosphere Everytime
n.
The best venue for intimate live performances in Auckland, in my opinion. Always love gigs here.
S.
Awesome venue, great sound
S.
Like it here watching devilskin play but the staff letting people In the door were rude (older lady who I think was security) and not one smiled or made eye contact. Puts a bit of a downer on things when me and everyone else we're grinning and saying hello only to be completely ignored
A.
The right size for a big sound. Saw John Butler here, great gig.
R.
Good venue to see the smaller/indie kinds of bands, lots of good memories.
S.
Aucklands best mid size venue.
Always a good sound system and light rig.
A.
A concert space with a soul. Great in Auckland and one of those places where you wish the walls could talk. Recommend!
P.
Very difficult for people in wheelchairs to see above everyone's heads on the ground floor. There is an upstairs balcony, but no lift, so staff have to carry people up the stairs.
T.
Nice venue for a concert, get to see the artist up close and people are not drunk off their face
J.
Best live venue in NZ good capacity for mid range bands, they don't allow overcrowding, good sound
D.
Great venue - parking not easy to find - have seen a number of bands there over the years
J.
Great venue have been here many times for different bands would recommend
Z.
Great venue, really good size and it's great they pull the number of international artists they do.
P.
Pheonix Foundation may have been the headline act at Power Station last night (12 July 2013) with a bigger line-up and a great sound, but support act Terror of the Deep's music was more edgy and inventive.
Paul
B.
Really nice concerts here, you actually feel connected with the crowd and the artist because it is quite small
S.
Tried sneaking into the R18 area but the security are too good, damn lol.
I also got into a punch up because I was getting harassed, and the staff were really caring and understanding about the situation and dealt with it professionally. Thanks dooodzzz
S.
Great intimate venue for concerts! Saw Rich Brian here and had a blast!!!
B.
Awesome venue. Close up with the band's and nice and loud
L.
Very nice place to enjoy a concert. Friendly staff, organized, and fast barmans.

R.
Wow amazing experience.
J.
Great venue for live music, conveniently located across from Galbraiths Alehouse.
T.
Great concert venue. The mezzanine in particular gives a great view of the performers.
J.
My favourite mid sized venue for bands. Everything just works well, sound, sight lines, entry, exit.
J.
Mean sounding venue & the right size you can see the band's eyes on stage you're not a ant in a mass arena, this is Auckland's premier Metal venue
B.
I love this venue, it's small & intimate compared to something like Spark arena
M.
It's a small venue but lots of atmosphere. Drinks are typical (expensive) prices but definitely a good night out
J.
