Great value accommodation in a good location near the beach and many local attractions. Friendly staff. Easy check-in and out. Pet friendly. The room was well appointed and air conditioned. Fan is provided as well.

Best thing about this place was the amenities. Those blankets in the wardrobe could do with a wash. Can't help the noise with people doing shift work etc. The Devon across the road is best for rest, but this place was ok.

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! Facilities were awesome, and the staff were both welcoming and very accommodating! Highly recommended. Also recommend Julianas (the restaurant) for your meals. Food was so fresh and delicious .

Very busy place. Room servicing is slow. When we arrived our room wasn't ready and it was 3 o'clock! Have been out all day and come back and room is as we left it. Had to go get milk towels a cloth and tea towel to wipe our bench and dry our dishes.

I've stayed here many times over the years. With super friendly staff and great food, I highly recommend a stay here. Also, quick access to the waterfront and nice walks. Easy to walk into the CBD too.

Great reception staff,awesome bar service from james last night,amazing meal in the restaurant,fab service from Charlotte,only negative was that there was no drinking water in the room,apart from the bathroom sink

Was good apart from the Ants in our room and mould in the shower and on door Tho they did supply a can of fly spray and got cleaned to clean off the mould the blind cleaner didn't see.

Comfortable bed, great shower, superb food and helpful staff...conducted a training session there....couldn't ask for more

The stay is awesome. The staff are super friendly. I do recommend when you are in the area and looking for a place to stay.. it is not far away from the beach and please check the photos attached.. 🌅☀️🕶

Customer service good.. room clean and very comfortable. But, proper heating would have been great. Pool was too dark no enough lighting, water cold changing room disgusting, toilet paper and rubbish all over the floor, smells really bad. In general I recommend this place as long you don't use the pool.

Wow this place is epic.. i am speechless. I have never stayed at a luxury place like this. Their 5 bedroom houses are to die for. Customer service is amazing.. lovely ladies.. super clean. I mean 6 stars if they were to be ranked. Will make a booking again really soon.

Animal friendly, nice pool and Spa and convenient for town. Reasonable prices and the on-site restaurant looked good.

Good stay in budget! Room is large enough, has a balcony, no great views, though. Staffs are humble and very helpful. Has their own restaurant, both breakfast and dinner available including room service. Located near the main road, plenty of on premise parking.

We love the locale the black plush robustness of the decor. Upmarket but can just relax and enjoy as the colour scheme doesn't take centre stage. Also thoroughly felt spoilt with the last minute booking we made recently, and accommodated us in their best!

We booked a family room for our family of five in February. The layout comprised of a queen bed and a single in one room and two singles in the other. The pillows and covers were soft and fluffy, the beds were quite firm. There was an open plan kitchen and living room with a useful high breakfast bar type table. The kitchen had a stove, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, kettle and toaster. The bathroom had a spacious shower (with excellent water pressure and nice hot water), sink and toilet. The lodge had its own restaurant as well as room service, but we did not sample these. Our children also spent many hours in the heated pool and spa. We were also grateful for the laundry facilities - $2 wash $2 dry $1 powder. The grounds were tidy and well looked after. The location is super handy to the beach and walkways as well as the town. Overall we were very pleased with our stay here, the staff at the desk and room service were accommodating, pleasant and polite. Missing a few things like extractor fans in the bathroom and kitchen, a kitchen knife instead of a bread knife and some furniture and walls were a bit tired/scuffed. But these were minor and we would happily recommend the auto lodge to friends.

Other than there were no air conditioning in my room, everything else was marvelous considering the price I was paying.

The front of the house staff and room service & kitchen team wonderful, professional, clean and friendly and carpark was always available for our car - During our stay our father passed away in Auckland and the front of the staff assisted our family with facilities for us to use to sort out the funeral arrangements - Thank you so much for helping us and supporting us while we were at the Auto Lodge, we definitely return. We wish Auto Lodge team successes and good health. God Bless

What a great motel. Stayed on business. Rooms were spacious, modern and confortable. Bathroom was a bit dated, but had everything required with good pressure in the shower. Had dinner in the restaurant which was a truly delicious meal. All staff were super-accommodating and went out of their way to help. See you next time we are up on PaySauce.com business

Stayed at the Auto Lodge for business. I checked in early and the staff were relatively helpful. So the rooms are comfortable and well looked after but the room I was in had a outdated bathroom that could do with an update. The fan didn't work and the bathroom needs a heated towel rail. Plus the shower needs help but the pressure was good. Some of the appliances and also the heatpump could do with swapping out and replacing. The bedside table was slightly damaged due to age and the switches and powerpoints need to be changed out. Cosmetics!! Bed is comfy. And the staff are friendly. So if you're in for a short stay then perfect. Any longer perhaps upgrade?

We happened across this location to stay as our parents picked it for a dinner celebration. We were happily surprised by just how amazing this place is. Accommodation - the room was spotless and nicely appointed. Comfortable and quiet to allow a great away-from-home night's sleep Location - perfect. An interesting walk to the river, then beach (beach is less than 10min). Restaurant - we had dinner there. It was an excellent combination of superb service and delicious food. Without exception everyone was delighted with their selections from the menu. A great range of craft beers and wines, better than we were expecting from an "auto lodge". Service - this is what topped it for us. We genuinely felt cared about. Without hesitation, the Auto Lodge Motor Inn is our pick to stay in New Plymouth.

Stay here often. Super friendly staff. Great comfy, clean nice hotel. A big bonus for me is that dog friendly!

Very clean, spacious, only concern no towel rails or hooks in bathroom. Pricey compared to other motels. Restaurant is a must with beautifully presented meals & pleasant dining experience ambient & peaceful.

These units are very clean and spacious. Julianas is an excellent restaurant and main reason for our stay, however the mattress was a bit soft and the bathroom needs a refurbishment. The shower head needs to be replaced and the spa bath is looking dated.

Excellent stay, great rooms, and they allow pets. Will be returning. Plus took only a minute to get to the costal Walkway and the beach so great walk for dogs. Would just love if the dressed up and made the pool area look nicer. But really great place.

We were upgraded to the Watson house which was awesome for 2 adults, 2 teenagers. Very clean. Comfortable beds. Helpful, friendly staff, right from when we phoned (Karen). Were there for a concert and they recommended the shuttle service that runs. Nothing was a problem. Nice breakfast, positive staff with good attitudes for first thing on a Saturday morning (Tim). Have had dinner here to celebrate a birthday on another occasion and also had a positive experience. Great menu that caters for all.

Was lovely place and friendly people and accomodating when we arrived last minute needing a place for the night with a small baby 🙂

The service was good,staff was very friendly.We stayed from saturday to monday.We went to the reception on sunday aftertoon and took towels to go the the swimming pool and the water was cold.When I payed the bill on monday i mention if they try to fix the pool, and the manager sad the pool been broken since friday. Bit o lack of communication. COntinental breakfast was a bit poor. I want thanks the staff, which was very helpfull and the rooms very tidy. if pool wasnt broken and breakfast was worth for the $20 i would give 5

Had a wonderful time again. Comfortable and clean facilities. The pool was gloriously relaxing after a stressful hot day. Food and drinks werr to die for and the staff was over the top friendly and professional in their work. Thank you Autolodge

Comfortable stay in standard room, which was spacious and had a kitchenette. Indoor pool looked great, but didn't get round to swimming. Had drinks at the bar during happy hour and breakfast one morning - friendly, cheerful service.

My room was slightly dated but large room with a desk and very comfortable bed. Parking is off the street. Every staff member was friendly, helpful and gave top notch service. I stayed 4 nights and ate at restaurant 3 nights and food was very good. Varied menu and large portions. I would recommend.

We had a funeral service in a room because of alterations being done at funeral home so they were exceptionally very polite and accommodating to our family and we were really blessed with good excellent service. They have a statue in the restaurant- check it out!!

Pet friendly.....we brought both dogs with us. Brilliant location....5 min walk to beach. Comfortable and clean rooms. Happy Days

Really great place to stay in for anyone.. family friendly and well kept. The spa and the pool are clean and very well maintained. Rooms are amazing too. The location is very central and easy to get by, on site and off street parking was a plus. 5/5 rating from me and will definitely come back again. Will recommend for everyone.

Lost my partner in the massive bed. Woke up star-fish style 😂. Clean rooms & ours had a kitchenette. Good shower. TV in the bedroom.

We loved our stay,the kids loved the pool and spa which we got to ourselves majority of the time,being on the 3rd floor was also fun for the kids,beds were comfortable,receptionist was welcoming,food at the resturant was delicious,its close to everything,no complaints 🤷‍♀️

Good place to stay. Very helpfull staff who make you feel very welcome. Rooms are a good size and very comfortable. Everything was very clean and tidy. Great restaurant and bar there. The food was outstanding.

I don't know what to say. I think we will be staying here from now on, everything is central. The bar (smoking area right by it), pool table. Restaurant is right there but OMG the food. Couldn't fault the food (can't fault anything to be honest). Thanks to the bar staff who put up with having to make our Pina Coladas. The Lodge is a winner.

Hotel staff very friendly. Had a lovely meal in the restaurant. The hotel is ideally located in town (5 minute drive or 20 minute walk). The room was clean and tidy and a comfortable bed. Would stay again.

Price was good, layout is fine. Was abit missleading as advertised with a bath and pictures of a lovely big bath, to find a shower / bath. The bathroom is large and modern. Beautiful indoor pool to enjoy and is close to town. The wifi would not work which was a annoying and could suggest updating the artwork to fit the modern style of the room. Overally, it was nice but the advertising was slightly miss leading, would stay again :)

Excellent evening meal, I had pork belly

We liked the place except for the power outlet not working and the bathroom exhaust not also working. We reported the problems and the outlet worked the day before we left. The fan exhaust was not fix.

The reception staff are amazing and so polite, and the Resturant staff are unbeleivably friendly.Nothing is to much trouble and they know how to have a laugh with the customers. Love the rooms, you get a balcony, kitchen set and appliances, good location, only thing I can fault is the pool is a bit cloudy so I dont feel comfortable swimming in it. Best breakfast in town, best price and portions!

wow should be a 6 star, given meals twice a day as no kitchen, beautiful meal from Julianas , highly recommend ,close to shops and beaches, great helpful staff, clean tidy rooms, well done.

Asked for a spa bath and definitely got what I wished for 😁 much needed warm and comfy sleep, yummy kai and all the staff were very welcoming = 5 gold stars

2nd stay and as usually the staff were very friendly and helpful. Had pamphlets etc laid out to assist people going to the concert. If you have a group of you, I would highly recommend renting the lovely old Villa

My last night in NZ, my funds were running low so booked on line for the low price, I thought that it would be adequate, it was brilliant, it exceeded my expectations and the reception staff were typical Kiwi, offering friendly advice which was of great assistance. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend going "streamlined".

Lovely venue for events. However the yellow statue in the foyer I feel is inappropriate for such a public area.

You get a facility to suit your budget. An excellent Restaurant within the facility if you require an excellent nights dining. 10-15 minute stroll to city shopping of New Plymouth with Pukekura Park not that much future away. Certainly worth considering getting a price for a stay in Taranaki. Yes, I am an ex Taranakian at heart but now in Paeroa so do look for places to stay when we go back.

We have had two functions there now and have been super impressed with the food and staff, so impressed that my mum is having her wedding there 🙂

The rooms are clean, bright and well furnished. The staff are friendly and even returned a beloved soft toy my child forgot

A lot of firms book people in here when working on the maintenance shutdowns at the refinery. No grizzles from the people I've met. Nice n quiet. Lots of room.

Large room. Wind howled thru the door making a noisy night. It did calm down thankfully. The outside door to the corridor could not be shut. Luckily we had one night only booked.

Needs a bit of maintenance. The pillows were awful. For us anyway. Room itself was clean and comfortable.

Very pleased with my stay. I was on top floor/end room with balcony and booked directly getting a very good price March-2022. I'll stay again as my stays(two) have been very good and well within my expectations.

(Translated) 21/01/2020. Already when we were on our way to the hotel we called to announce that we would arrive late and someone was waiting for us at the reception. Two couples arrived at the hotel and it turned out that our rooms were on the second floor without an elevator. Since there was a person with us who could not go up the stairs we asked to change rooms. The clerk showed us an apartment on the ground floor but with a shared shower and toilet and it did not suit us. The clerk suggested that we sleep in the rooms and said that only tomorrow it is possible so we asked to change rooms right now. We were given a ground house, a villa, 3 rooms, a shower and toilet for each room, a living room and a large elaborate kitchen shared and beds suitable for each plus 200 $ Nz for four for two nights. It comes out to $ 50 Nz per person. There is also an oven, halogen hob, fridge, large sink and large marble countertop and cutlery. There is also a washer corner and a tumble dryer. Everything looks new and polished. Even parking our rental car was in front of the door. In the meantime, this place has received from us the highest score of all the hotels and motels we have stayed in in New Zealand to date. Total: $ 339 Nz per couple for two nights. (Original) 21/01/2020. כבר כשהיינו בדרך למלון התקשרנו להודיע שנגיע מאוחר ושיחכה לנו מישהו בקבלה. הגענו שני זוגות למלון והתברר לנו שהחדרים שלנו בקומה שניה ללא מעלית. מכיוון שהיה איתנו אדם שאינו יכול לעלות במדרגות ביקשנו להחליף חדרים. הפקידה הראתה לנו דירה בקומת קרקע אבל עם מקלחת ושירותים משותפים וזה לא התאים לנו. הפקידה הציעה שנישן בחדרים אמרה שרק מחר זה ניתן אז ביקשנו להחליף חדרים כבר עכשיו. קיבלנו בית קרקע, וילה, בת 3 חדרים, מקלחת ושירותים לכל חדר, סלון ומטבח גדול משוכלל משותפים ומיטות מתאימות לכל אחד בתוספת של 200$Nz לארבעתו לשני לילות. זה יוצא 50$Nz לאדם. יש גם תנור, כיריים הלוגן, מקרר, כיור גדול משטח שיש גדול וכלי אוכל. יש גם פינת מכונת כביסה ומייבש כביסה. הכל נראה חדש ומצוחצח. אפילו חניית הרכב השכור שלנו הייתה מול הדלת. בינתיים, המקום הזה קיבל מאיתנו את הציון הגבוה ביותר מכל המלונות והמוטלים שעברנו בהם בניו זילנד עד היום. בס"כ: 339$Nz לזוג לשני לילות.
