Our group of three had an evening meal on 29th January 2020 and the food was delicious and elegantly presented. The staff were lovely too. It made our anniversary special.

We went last night with our works do. Meal awesome loved the Bread and Butter Pudding made with Filo Pastry The guys who waited on us were lovey and attentive the Bar staff great All in all a great night. Thank you everyone who made our night lovely. Will recommend . Thanks guys Cheers Dianne Fearnley

Everything we needed. Loved having the afternoon sun in the spa. Meal was phenomenal with great hosts ensuring we got mountain views

We had a lovely lunch today. There were 12 of us, and I was impressed how all our meals were served at the same time. My husband had the crumbed fish and really enjoyed it. I chose the chicken sandwich, but I was disappointed because there was more bacon on it than chicken. It covered the chicken completely. I failed to notice the bacon mentioned in the menu description. I only like really crispy bacon, and it was definitely not crispy, so I gave that to my husband, which left me with one very small piece of chicken in crumbs. I'm only saying this to give useful feedback for the management. I can certainly say the service was great. The staff were very respectful, helpful, and very efficient and friendly. The venue is lovely, the location unique and very accessible, plenty of parking. I will definitely come here again.

We had a lovely lunch here with two small children. The staff were kind and accomodating. There is a beautiful short walk you can take right next door.

Amazing location and food was good, bonus was that it all came out at the same time. The only critique would be that there were a lot of staff talking business behind the bar about what rooms need cleaning and training up staff etc, it was quite distracting and loud. If they did that in another space then it would've been a perfect breakfast. Heaps of potential.

Excellent customer service, staff courteous and attentive. Lunch was exceptional, might make it a regular lunch date, especially when I’ve had a little walk up on one of the trails. Highly recommend....

Rung just before they closed in last ditch effort for a bed they waited up gretted at door with smiles room was beyond nice survice was above and beyond will be only place I stay when down there

Yes, just pay for the views 🏔️and get quality meals for 🆓. All reasonably priced with good hospitality. Start with the soup and 🍞garlic bread 👌🏻. It is located 3 kms before you head to the plateau. All our mains were good portions and well presented. Perfect place to celebrate 🎉any occasion 🎂. Do book📞. Will revisit.

Hospitality was great meals in restaurant were top notch. We were there for family gathering for Dinner, bed & Breakfast.

Best food I have had in a long time! Amazing service, beautiful view, everyone was very friendly and accommodating (we were in a group with 3 kids 4, 3 and 1). Definitely will be heading back soon 😊

Ka pai! Our roopu of 30 for a 70th birthday was blessed with autumn rain as we entered the lovely warm wharekai. Greeted with the door held open and assistance of welcome was unique to any of the dozens of establishments I have visited. Really welcoming and with a pianist further creating ambiance our occasion of a mixed age and gender and relationship was marvelous. Then the kai. A set menu had been chosen with 3 mains options. Not a single complaint, and fact only comments of appreciation were made. I had battered fish that was generous, absolutely fresh, crispy with fries and salad etc - delightful! All staff pleasant, humorous, efficient and helpfully perceptive of our needs. Drink needs politely tended to. I witnessed staff taking group photo at neighboring table of 4 and overheard their expressions of delight over their kai, waipiro and hospitality. Our first visit that will definitely won't be our last. Well done Ngati Ruanui staff and whanau, a credit to your kawa of mannakitanga all round. My longest post for it is deserving!

Absolutely top meals, Cassidy our waitress was fantastic, stunning setting and revamp. Manager very helpful and friendly. Well run restaurant that flowed smoothly. All staff were a real pleasure to deal with. Will definitely be back again.

When we were at Stratford Mountain House. It had been snowing. It was a great delight to play in the snow. Very beautiful and scenic

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The service, the food, the accommodation, the location, this place has it all. Very accommodating for large groups, making my wife's 30th there a very memorable occasion.

Great place to visit. Lovely hosts, great meals. Had Dinner, breakfast, and lunch. Nice walking tracks nearby to keep you busy. Really nice view of Mt Taranaki, and great weather both days.

Amazing location with an incredible view of the mountain if you get a clear day! Very friendly and hospitable service, we were offered a high chair with our group as well which was very helpful. There’s a very nice change table area for families with little ones. Great gluten free options to choose from as well, the staff are very accommodating. There’s also lots of great walks to do nearby!

good rooms clean and just overall good service

Very much enjoyed our visit today, sampling the food in the cafe for morning tea excellent. The walks are alsk breath taking and the staff were wonderfall.

An overnight stay in a chalet. Room was lovely and warm and very clean. Comfortable bed and bonus of a spa bath. Very quiet with no noise from adjoining unit. We dined at the Mountain House for dinner and breakfast. Dinner was fabulous. Limited option of meals but both mine and my partners were cooked perfectly. My squid entree was right up there with the best I have ever had. It was as tender as butter. Good range of breakfast options.. warning.. the big breakfast is “big”!! Staff were friendly. Ambience was what is lacking. We dined in a smaller room off main area. Very stark, bright lighting. Some softer lighting, more furnishings and candles on table would go a long way to creating a more enjoyable dining experience. We were going to retire to the sofas with a port after our dinner but both gas fires had been turned off.. again lack of ambience. Sofas, cushions etc in main area are looking very tired. A few little things could turn this into a 5 star experience.

Great place in the wilderness. You can see the mountain if weather is in your favour. Had a lovely 3 course luncheon. Mine host most attentative and good to talk with.

Visited for Sunday Lunch; the meal was okay - not bad, but nothing exceptional either. Our garlic bread lacked anything resembling garlic, which was a pity. Service was good; atmosphere fine. Minor issues with mountains/storms/power lines didn't pose any problems either.

Looked like a really nice place to stay

Stayed in one of the chalets away from the main accommodation. Awesome views of Mt Taranaki. Fabulous meal on Saturday night. Great eggs florentine and salmon for breakfast on Sunday. Excellent coffee. Food and staff could not be faulted. Thanks Rob, Lyn and staff. Superb!!!

Warm, genuine welcome on arrival, coffee was top shelf, cake was off the charts good. Process were extremely good. Near to Mt Taranaki observation point, visit on way to or from (or both). View from the mountain is beautiful

Had a wonderful meal after playing in the snow with my kids. It was hard on the day to get there because of the ice... But it just added to the great time.

Really cozy place right at the bottom of Mount Taranaki. And on a clear day you get the view of snow clad mountain top... its such a scenic view.. And not to forget, such a helpful, friendly and welcoming staff!! Loved my stay here!!

Haven't stayed here but wanted to publicise the kindness of their staff, and to make special mention of those at Stratford Mountain House - particularly Tracey and Lynne. Whilst visiting Taranaki in February, being typical tourists, we left behind a jumper/phone/credit card close to Stratford Mountain House. By the time we realised, we were 3-4 hours' drive away and because of our schedule, were unable to return. We contacted Stratford Mountain House and they straightaway went out and recovered the jumper/phone/credit card which had been left on a picnic bench. They then kindly arranged for the items to be couriered (at their own cost) to one of our group's Uncle up in Auckland, and they have now safely been returned to the UK and reunited with their owner! Thank you ever so much for your kindness! :)

We had a lovely lunch in a beautiful scene. The area was schrouded with misty fog yet it was cozy and warm inside.

The antipasto platter was amazing. So many flavors and wide range of cheeses and crackers.

Never stayed but have stopped in several times after cycling or walking in the area, great place for lunch or a coffee/beer after that long day in the outdoors.

Always excellent coffee food and service! Add to that a warm cozy atmosphere and everything is perfect.

A wonderful 4 night stay at this Hotel on the slopes of Mt Egmont (Taranaki). Peter and Alie were great hosts and were always helpful with advice around the area. Beds were very comfortable and the chef served some brilliant meals. Hoping to return soon. Thanks again to you and your great team. Heather and Norm.
