Reviews of Berghain | Panorama Bar
I.
What’s up what’s up buckle list check.
We were here before Christmas and luckily before the lockdown.
Already know they are very selective in terms of customer. And I don’t know why we got in to be honest. Maybe it was not a such busy day.
Waited for hours I think. We also went to do a fast test before.
The music was really good. Very open minded people are here.
M.
I used to live in Berlin and went here a few times. Brought friends in. It is a sick club. Both the main floor and panorama bar are great. But now I don't live in Berlin anymore I find it silly they let people queue for hours and then turn people away. There are clubs elsewhere in the world which are great too, have the best DJs and sound systems, let everyone in and you still have a good vibe.
K.
One of the most unique places I've been in the world. There's a vibe check at the door. They don't arbitrarily turn you away. They turn you away if you look like you're a tourist, will just stare at people, are awkward, have bad intentions, can't get with the vibe or don't like techno music. What you end up with is the people who do make it in are all beautiful people who are just looking to have a good time and express themselves freely. It's actually a great system. It gets rid of all the bad actors in regular clubs and creates a very safe space. Honestly I wish more clubs were like this. If you didn't get in: maybe you were just unlucky or maybe you should check your intentions for going before trying again.
W.
This is not just a club , this is an experience, a portal to another dimension that you would only reach through the door of Berghain, what you will never be able to explain to someone who's never been inside, it's like a dream you only realize while you're dreaming.
And why it works is because every single person who's inside, belongs there, and the doorman knows it and wants to keep it this way, otherwise, it's ruined.
If you are rejected, it's not because of how you look, it's who you are and what your personality is like. Don't be hurt.
If you are not ready for it, Sven will sniff you out of the line and send you home.
Those who get in, know they belong inside, they don't stand in the line to try to get in, they stand in the line to get in, because it's made for them, they know it, the doorman knows it, that's why he's at the door.
S.
Didn’t try get in but will try next time. Music sounds good 👍🏼
H.
Out of body experience. Queued for 4 hours from 1am. Got in as a group of 2 with my girlfriend. Best club in the world without a doubt, I have never seen or experienced anything like it. Be prepared to stay there for the rest of the day!
P.
I managed to enter on my first try, do your research and be yourself.
Amazing experience, best by far on any kind of party and beyond. Good rave, good company.
Is hard to score this place with less than 5 star.
J.
So people always told me that this was the place to go to when in Berlin. The door is rough they said. Been in the Garten last weekend and I have to say, it's actually pretty cool. There was no waiting line outside, music was great, the sound system is really really good and I was surprised by dancers from all the different generations. So cool! Definitely a must see.
A.
We started to stand in line at 14:15 on a Sunday, 31.10.21. After approx. 7:45h, we finally got to the very front.
In the end, we couldn’t enter as it just turned 22:00.
II think it would have been great inside.
I don’t think it’s fair to give this place a bad rating just because of the waiting time or one being rejected, but they could do something so that people can’t easily skip the queue.
It happens way too often and was in my case why I couldn’t get in at the end.
D.
I had a really big sausage, with sauerkraut and mash, what a meal, and a stein. Never had these before what a treat, going there again if I can persuade the others. Service waS very good, not too big a wait for meal. Don t bother about price, just have a meal and watch the waiter carrying 6 steins at once what a feat. Best meal and drink yet.

Club:
The sound system is the best I've heard so far (among other clubs in Berlin). So is lighting system.
Atmosphere/vibe:
Dark, smoky, industrial, hazy, sweaty, sexy. Easy to see diversity in there! That surprised me when I got in for the first time! Because before that, I was rejected once and I thought the strict door policy does not end up in diversity!
Conclusion: the best club in Berlin (yet a bit overrated). When you are leaving it, you are sure that you need to be there at least once again!
M.
Had the best night of my raver life here alongside Jemir Blanco a few years back. It's a space for the truly unforgettable and magical. I will never forget this place.
A.
Best sound system. Amazing venue and cheap drinks. Dark rooms were a bonus. Be aware that they may turn you away if they decide you are not right for their place.
Edited on 1/24/2021: i miss this place and i wish things get back to normal and i can travel to Berlin again. I will not miss out this club if i m in Berlin. The best sound system and coolest people i have met there. Dress causal, cool, hip in dark colors guys! Love!!
K.
Very interesting. Contemporary art reflecting the human condition in 2020.
A.
Simply the best.
Music was always awesome. Panorama also was as good as the main dancefloor
B.
Cool club, but doesn't live up to all the hype that surrounds it. Had to line up three times before we were let in. The interior of the club is very industrial and cold, but looks really cool. If you want a place to meet new people while out and about this isn't the place to do it. Music was pretty good, hardcore techno on the main floor and and tech haus at the panorama bar. I'd recommend you bring ear plugs bcz I'm pretty sure I have permanent damage after being here lol.
E.
We were waiting in the queue like 4 hours, and we didn't get in. But.. that makes Berghain the most interesting and wanting club. The fact that you can wait a hole day in the rain, and it's not sure that they will let you go.. We were really sad, because Berghain was the thing we went to Berlin.
Next time we will try again. Don't be sad if they don't let u in. Maybe It's not the right time for you.
M.
OK. Not easy to get in, but really worth it!
amazing atmosphere, music, people (everything can possibly be seen there which makes this place exceptionnal).
if you can be shocked easily of course don't even think about Berghain.
a must do in a life ! UNIQUE EXPERIENCE
B.
What a great experience. Was here for a few hours on my last night in Berlin. Had so much fun we almost extended our stay in Berlin so that we could stay here longer.
Obviously the bad reviews are from people who did not get in, but that is part of the allure. Similar to how Studio 54 is reported to have been back in the day.
We stood in line for about 45 minutes waiting to get in.
Multiple levels, dance floors, and DJs. Would gladly return here again.
M.
My favorite techno place in all the world.
I celebrated my last bday there and was so amazing. People and music are the best. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
S.
They have some pretty nice espresso. The smoothies are delicious as well
N.
Incredible music, great Berlin nights
J.
Best place to enjoy freedom of being yourself and most amazing sound of techno. Amazing location, friendly people and heaps of fun.
It’s not a mainstream place. You should inform yourself before you go. Me and my partner loved it and will be back.
D.
Awesome. Was in line for 4,5 hours and when we arrived at the door with less than 10 people in front of us, they closed the door because they were full. 5 out of 5 stars. Would come back to be disappointed again.
A.
I was after Covida, new opening, atmosphere like 4 years ago 🙏😎, want to go back there soon 🤖
N.
Always beem well welcomed from door to any bar (the icrecream band food bar included ) music is legendary good and the crowd is ok ! This is really a safe place. Understand those who gets what safe place means.
b.
Easy online reservation. Would recommend
S.
Instant 5 stars (as long as you get in)
P.
The most iconic techno club in the world. Going there is an experience by itself starting at the door queue and it can take certain time to get or not get in. Passing the door is not easy but the party inside feels like it will never stop. An absolutely exclusive club experience in industrial style with many steel and glass materials, just in Berliner style. The sound system in the dark room is absolutely flawless and definitely makes you get into the music. The people are all for the fun but you have to be patient with the staff in this place.
D.
Would definitely go back to this spot again
j.
It’s just hands down the best techno place in the world. They are most professional at all levels, from the door to the music, ambiance, safety, staff, profiling, sound, lighting, ....and on and on and on.
Berghain is the best - I wish them all the best and impatient for them to open again to go back.
Now after more than one year being closed due to COVID restrictions we all wait patiently for them to reopen their doors again hopefully by summer.
Keep the good spirits up dear friends of techno
M.
Best music, vibe, light and sound system.
L.
I loved it! Went on Sunday afternoon. I dressed plainly in dark colours, just introduced myself and said what event I was coming for. Said I’m from so and so but I spoke in German. Bouncers were very friendly.
Got a smile and a nod and was in. It was just brilliant. A place to be yourself truly and without judgement. Good vibes, beautiful design, fantastic music and sound. I can understand not everyone is let in as you need to be the type. People dress fantastically. What an end to a great stay in Berlin!
a.
Berghain was to me a great outdoor experience ever since I never entered the club. The first time I waited 2 hours in front of the club, but was told by the bouncers it was a waste of time and left. Everyone in the line was being patient, calm and respectful towards others. No pushing, screaming or anything disturbing. We had a good chat with some frenchmen. Remember to dress up as a combination of Christiane F, Marilyn Manson and Sharon Needles.
Second time my friend asked the bouncers if she could borrow the toilet since there was no one in line, but was very kindly told to use an outdoor toilet. She gave that toilet 4 stars. My friends tries a second time to ask if she could might get in, but was told no, because she took a picture of the club from the outside. Is it too late to say sorry? If not, we'll see you at summertime again. It's simply too cold to wait outside in January.
S.
Let's start with the door staff, they were lovely! They were really kind and helpful. The price was reasonable and when we got in the music was banging. Wasn't too packed by the time we got in (Sunday evening) but the atmosphere was mental. A great end to a cool week in Berlin 👍 Harry & Fernanda
K.
The ambience? You feel like you are dancing in another galaxy, or in a spaceship traveling at the light speed. I am serious! Thank you Sven for making this possible...
O.
A serious amount of respect for their legendary strict door policy. You can let go completely inside and the people around you inside give you the freedom to do that. There is no one judging you and no one impolite. The crowd are 100% pure souls there for the right reasons, a good time. So respect how ruthless they have to be on the door to ensure the crowd stays as loving and honest as that.
M.
Amazing place that surpassed my wildest expectations.. For me this club is a paradise on Earth.Berlin techno at its best, fascinating people and colossal space. See U soon my Barghain <3
P.
Only way to get in as a tourist:
1. Look sleek and expensive (Suits, watches, High-heels, Designer Dresses). It’s true, wear dark shades.
2. Skip the normal line and go directly to the bouncer for VIP entrance, tell him you want to book a table there and want to spend a lot of money (at least 100€)
3. This works 90% of the time. If not, go to the Matrix club, which is currently the hottest insider tip in the Berlin nightlife scene. Thank me later.
A.
Visited Berghain in 2019 , it truly is the Mecca of electronic music , best clubbing experience I ever had
M.
Went on a Sunday afternoon. Waited in line for about 20 mins. I wore all black, but I queued with 2 friends and they were in colourful clothing. 2 more friends queued separately. There were 5 of us in total. Bouncers didn’t really talk to us apart from gesturing how many we were. We showed 3 fingers and in we went. Atmosphere is brilliant. It really is a place to be free and enjoy yourself. Anything goes as long as you don’t bother anyone else. I mean anything. Berghain in my opinion is better than Panorama Bar, which is one floor up. Better sound, more space, well ventilated. Music was more hard-house/ electronic than techno. Loads of chill out areas, coffee, sandwiches and ice cream to keep you going for the entire weekend. There is a dark room, surprise surprise. €18 entrance (Feb 2020). You’ll receive a wristband. €5 more to come and go the entire weekend. Relax, let go and enjoy x
J.
Classified as one of the best clubs in the world, we have tried to get in, unsuccessfully, twice.
Absolutely to try..at least the queue!
Creepy location, hundreds of people wearing black clothes standing for long time (hours?) under the rain without even talking..meanwhile AMAZING MUSIC and magnificent vibes came out!
I reserve the five stars when they let me get in! :D
R.
For people interested in the Studio Berlin art exhibit: currently, you have a choice between a guided tour (in either English or German) Monday-Friday or open visit Saturday & Sunday. I highly recommend the guided tour, as most of the artworks require explanations to understand their meaning.
E.
Do I really have to describe the experiences? Something ultra spacey, the most exciting club of my life, music goes inside you, you feel an absolute freedom flowing inside your body, blood boils inside this place, you love it, and you feel loved, you love the people inside, everything is ecstasy.
Excellent drinks, the staff available, the best DJs listened in my life, excellent sound cleanliness, lights, colors and atmospheres that kidnap you, the people you meet in this club always interesting and open to any kind of thought.
Not everyone are ready to enter in this temple of spiritual openness!
P.
Went in with my partner on Sunday afternoon with no expectations. Had to wait less than an hour to get it. It was a once in a life time experience. There were so many places, nooks and crannies to explore. I don't understand the racist issue people are having. I'm mid 20s Asian and I had no problem getting in. I also saw many people of color inside. It really sucks with how fickle the doormen can be but once you get in it's amazing. Stayed almost 9 hours, it was a trip. I don't think I'll ever experience something like that again anywhere else. Although it was fun, I probably wouldn't want to do it every weekend. More like once every couple of years. It can get pretty tiresome nearing the end, you have to learn when to throw in the towel and go home.
E.
Went in there thinking we might get kicked out. But to my surprise we got in. We did dress quite funky. The bouncers seem to only kick out tourist looking people. So dress to impress and be ready to party. Once inside the architecture is amazing and the sound system was second to none.
The people are very cool and funky. Definitely would love to come back again.
D.
Berghain is unlike anything else in this world. It is not just a techno club... it's a community, a safe space for true freedom, hard-techno lovers and more than anything, diversity. It is not a place for close-minded or prejudiced people. If you don't get in, it's simply because you're not ready to get in. Your nationality, the colour of your skin, what language you speak or don't, what you're wearing, none of that matters. Once you experience the place for the first time, you will truly understand and appreciate the job that the bouncers at the door do, and what they're trying to protect inside.
A.
Please do not complain about the bouncers and leave a low review if you did not get in.
Once you get in, you understand what the club it trying to do. That is, creating a safe environment for those inside. My boyfriend and I got in the night we tried... however, if we had went back the following week, we may have been rejected. That's just how it is. No need to get your ego involved.
The sound system is among the best in the world and the people there are incredible. It's unlike anything I've experienced. Totally worth the shot if you are a fan of techno.
M.
Well, I didn't have big expectation since I thought that it's overrated. I was a little bit skeptical but we decided to go there. First time they didn't let us in. After a few hours we got in. OMG - it was amazing. The music in the techno hall was so loud and clean that I can't believe it's real. The whole experience was truly amazing.
G.
Great place with a good vibe and mix of people. Beer selection is a little underwhelming but you can’t have everything.
Oh, and I got in first time. Those who are leaving 1 Star reviews because they didn’t get in don’t deserve to get in. I was fully expecting to be told “no, not tonight, enjoy your evening” like the 15 or so in front of us, but we got in. The doormen are actually really nice and are just doing their job.
A.
It's not a club, it's an experience!! The crowd is very interesting the venue breathtaking, the music if you like techno you can stay at the main stage but there is always the choice of panorama with more electro and "happy" vibes. If you can get in ...please do!!! Cant wait to go back! Spend 12 hours in and I was quite sad that I had to leave because I got tired, only because I am a human : )
S.
Fantastic club. Gotta have some luck getting in, but once your in, the atmosphere is great.
Good prices, music all night (and day). Fantastic speaker system! They put tape on your phone's camera for privacy. Don't listen to reviews about people not getting in, they didn't experience it. If you don't get in, try again later.
L.
Best soundsystem ever. Crowd is amazing and once you are in, it feels like a no man's land. You can be whoever you want to be and do whatever you want to do. This is what freedom feels like. Be respectful and have fun. If you come with the right attitude to party, just have trust in yourself and you'll get in!
S.
It was the expectation , that passed right away , and as we walk in , it’s a magic of techno músico , serious, to the core of it.
The space , huge two dance flors.
Coffee shop, ice cream parlor and bars and so many other places!
It’s fun , the music shakes your soul, it’s a blessing of a serious techno music club .
Man, women, trans, lesbian, anyone who is in Berlin and part of Berlin knows.
We got in at 11 am on Sunday , we went home at 11p. Got back at midnight and danced until Monday morning!
This is one wonder you MUST ATTEND!
H.
This is a great nightclub, you must go in, there will be many bold ideas in that space.
a.
After seeing so many people being rejected, I felt privileged when they said I could get in. You need to have a certain image I guess, not everyone is chosen. The people who give a bad rate, it's because they didn't get in and feel frustrated. I don't blame them...I would feel the same if it has happened to me.
The long 1h45 min waiting in the cold was worth it: the club atmosphere is just amazing!
G.
I read the comments of people saying that it is not worth waiting or trying for the music inside... I really don't want to explain the whole Berghain experience, but music is just a part of it (tho it's amazing). This place is rough, dark but also full of freedom... Unique experience.
If you want to go there only for the music - leave it, do it at home. Berghain is much more than this.
BE OPEN, BE YOURSELF, KNOW WHAT YOU Want AND WHERE YOU'RE GOING and you'll most likely enter this place.
If you just read about this club and have no idea about it but want to go there... I'd suggest to leave it, even if you go inside you may not have the best time there.
For me Berghain is must do experience at least once a year.
I know it is not good to be rejected, but because of it when you enter the place you can be sure that everyone inside is in the right place.
s.
If access to information about the club and taste in music failed to separate the crowd, the bouncers will ensure the semi-private nature of these public spaces by refusing admission to those who don't belong (Thornton, 1995)
D.
World famous and for good reason, the perfect place to party if you want to party for 36 hours straight. Like nowhere else on earth (as of 2018).
They let maybe a third of people in line in the door. Just get back in line if you don't get in. Make your look 90% goth, 10% afropunk, and put effort into your clothes.
E.
Great food here, especially the empanadas. Not sure how I feel about a lot of the waiters wearing latex, but they're really friendly and open to have a chat about everything.
Probably best to book ahead of time as other wise theirs a bit of a line.
Cannot recommend the food enough though.
C.
The most incredible club experience I’ve had, without a doubt. A friend and I queued up on a Sunday afternoon. We had fully expected to be turned away - it’s just what happens and for a lot of people it must be very confusing why. I don’t think there is a particular dress code, it doesn’t matter whether you’ve had a couple of drinks and certainly has nothing to do with racism (we are Australian and don’t speak much German).
But, if and when you get inside it is the most incredible sensory overload, surrounded by people who are there to have a good time with no judgement. The dark, industrial interior compliments the music and creates an awesome atmosphere.
If you love techno and are open minded, you have to try Berghain, and if you get knocked back, be respectful, and you can always try again.
I left there with my friend and there were literally no words to describe the breathtaking experience we had. This is the best club in the world - thank you to the Ostgut crew who built it.
M.
The only reason why people would give a bad review is cause they wouldn't get in. No doubt one of the best clubs in the world!
J.
Amazing unique place, totally get the door policy, its hard and cruel, but truly truly, those gate keepers haven an excellent insight of what makes a party an deep envoking experience. Trust them if they shake their head at you, its not your party. Maybe next time, they truly truly want the best for everybody. They are so insync with the atmosphere its amazing.
inside the atmosphere is like the original illegal house parties from back in the day, with the best soundsystem you can imagine.
Wardrobe people are so kind and welcoming treat the things you drop off with the care as if its the most precious artefact from a museum, the bar people are all outstanding professionals, the visitors all living the rythm. Best club in the world? No, its the best in the universe!
You should visit, take a walk on the wild side, plunge in drown and be saved by the rythm.
H.
It's the best club on earth for 3 reasons:
The people
A huge mix of people from all over the world at all income brackets with all kinds of backgrounds and interests.
The club
A custom built structure for partying that has new fittings and features every visit. The sound system is the best I've heard anywhere: you can party for hours at earsplitting volume while feeling the bass in your uvula with no ear ringing the next day.
The rules
There are none except be respectful and don't take photos. It gives it this feel that anything is possible which is perfect for having a great party.
It's also great that it's open for over two days, it gives you time to enjoy everything and take it all in.
B.
The most delicious urine i have ever drank was at this club, the comments of Brazilians about this place are lies and envy because they were not "accepted"
D.
Worth every second of that wait in the rain and the potential rejection. So much so that there's a reason why people wait every night for this place.
Thank baby Jesus for those bouncers, it's an art what they do, and it creates the oddest environment of both "edgy" and friendly at the same time.
Forget what people on here say. Just go to the world's most famous techno club and try to get in. It's truly one of the best clubs of all time and you will experience a safari of hedonism like never before.
T.
It's definitely an interesting place. I had a good time regardless of strange environment. As far as getting inside, I just walked up to the door by myself and the bouncer asked me if I knew this was gay friendly club, I said yes and he just let me in without any bullshit. Once you go inside it's almost feels like old dirty movie set.
R.
Probably the best club in Germany. Don't bother trying to get in if not an open minded Techno person that knows and feels the scene. Read about it before you go and wait in the very long line. Dress code is not very consistent and very depend on the vibe the bouncer gets from you. Overall is the best experience i had in a while.
A.
The people that gave this place a bad review, Im 100 percent sure all got rejected at the door and went back in line. The door policy is NOT racist...our group of 3 minorities got in. Sven let us in immediately. Do your research. When you look at the people in line you can tell they look entitled. Just showed up from another country and EXPECT to be let in but totally not dressed correctly. Alot of good looking people dressed in black got rejected also!
C.
Best clubbing experience ever! More like therapy. The sound is great, and the music is the best music you can ever hear and dance too. I go with my husband and we just love being there. The people are amazing, loving, and great attitude
J.
Really hard to get in they said, but if you respect the codes, you should do it easily. Music is great, the building is amazing and people really friendly. One of the best places to go in Berlin if you want something .. new :)
R.
Special type of ice cream parlor. Kinda loud. But must be very popular because the line is huge and you actually get body checked to make sure that you don't bring your own ice cream. Nonetheless, 5 out of 5 stars🍦- would go again.
J.
After 20 years le clubbing i can say that is the best club in the world.
P.
Got reject two times four years ago when I moved to Berlin. When I finally was inside loved the sound system : ), spent 3 months going every Sunday (best party no tourist) and now after four years I can be objective and recommend the place.
If you’re really open go, otherwise will be just uncomfortable because all what you’re gonna see and experience.
They don’t banned you because they are idiots, they do it because they know that you would fix to the atmosphere
O.
wow, best night of my life. If you want to get in here...do your research. Know who is playing that night, dress the part, act cool but not too cool. Do NOT go in big groups, go in pairs. Don't go on your phone in the queue or take pictures. All 8 of my friends got in because we went in pairs. They also may say "we are closed" but challenge that and say well blah blah is meant to be playing tonight. They are only going to let you in if they know you want to be there and if you know who is playing. BEST NIGHT EVER !
R.
Remember to plan an indoor outfit since it gets hot inside!
K.
We didn’t think we were going to get in based on stories but once we were in we knew we belonged here.
The music was exactly what we were into, the bartenders were very nice. You can feel the music in your chest and it’s like nothing else in this world that I have experienced.
People who say it’s overrated obviously don’t appreciate the beauty in berghain.
M.
I have been going for 5 years and absolutely love it. The door policy is strict and particular, but it has a purpose: People are chosen to create a certain vibe. Lots of uncontrolled straight male testosterone is generally not appreciated and neither are party goers with chic and cell phones in mind.
Sound system, lighting, light installations are all incredible; I have been in many venues, and this is best. Music selection is often very good, can be amazing, and sometimes a little drawn out or minimalistic. Sets are often 4 hours and require stamina. If you want to hear several DJs but can't stay for more than 3 or 4 hours, it might be a good idea to get there in the middle of a set. The truly amazing experience comes with staying for many hours. the vibe of the crowd changes through various stages of exhaustion and euphoria until you feel like you are part of one huge organism.
Do not go if you cannot handle forward advances, do not want to see nakedness or people on drugs, and if you want to do me a favor, don't go if you don't plan to dance ;-)
s.
I don't speak German
I queued for 2 minutes
I spoke with bouncer on door, briefly
I got in
Inside I met others of various nationalities (European & Asian) in a mix of males and females
Amazing club with an inspiring vibe and aura. An experience I'll never forget but will seek to repeat. (I've been clubbing regularly - predominately techno - for 25 years)
Did I 'fit the bill'? - yes
Did I arrive at 'right time'? - potentially
Did I 'get lucky'? - perhaps
All I know is once I was inside I was completely at home & with my people.
If I don't get in next time, I'll accept it.
Those who understand, understand.
Those who don't, never will & are best left outside.
A.
Went here around April last year and did not get denied entry. Don't know why people describe the bouncers as racist and xenophobic - probably because they are looking for a reason as to why they got denied entry.
We didn't understand the big fuss before we got in, but once we were, we understood why many people get rejected at the door. The bouncers try to maintain the 'open' and non-judgemental atmosphere that they have created and it pays off. You can dance all night here without getting harassed or weird looks at all, which is quite rare to see as a woman. No people who are oversharing experiences online on social media inside to create a really chill vibe.
Don't listen to the people saying it's a racist place. I'm also not white but got in, just don't go if you are not open minded as you might get weirded out by what you will see inside.
I.
Can be hard to get into if you're already intoxicated so recommend to go sober, any time I did there was no issue to get in. Once you do get in you will see what the fuss is about. It's a weirdly wonderful nightclub where you can be yourself and dance for hours/days to some of the best techno you can on the best sound system I've encountered in a club. Long live Berghain!
J.
Best club experience, the venue is amazing. We went on New Year day - so the whole venue was open with heaps of great dance areas to explore. 2 Friends didn't get in which was a massive bummer - we will go again for sure.

I gave 5stars although I was rejected. They didn’t ask question just say no, then I told them I’m on the guest list , one of bouncer asked my name and looked at the list, still say no! This makes me like him, because he was true to himslef, kind of GOD- liking at that moment, people can get stuck in the feeling that way they have power to control, I feel glad I made them to have this feeling, and I was smiling at him, in this particular moment, I feel like I am goddess.

Great breakfast!
E.
Great food here, especially the empanadas. Not sure how I feel about a lot of the waiters wearing latex, but they're really friendly and open to have a chat about everything. …
J.
Something worth preparing for. I enjoyed other parties in Berlin more, but this place is worth a visit for anyone a little zesty. Got in easily as I followed the rules...
S.
Fantastic club. Gotta have some luck getting in, but once your in, the atmosphere is great.
Good prices, music all night (and day). Fantastic speaker system! They put tape …

Cool place

Open again 😀🎉

""Did I 'fit the bill'? - yes

All I know is once I was inside I was completely at home & with my people.

Those who understand, understand.
Those who don't, never will & are best left outside.""

Wow. What an experience... 2nd time around and loved every minute. Pano was incredible. So much to take in. Berghain is a 90s mega blast from the past. Go...
M.
Of course I was rejected at the door.
I do believe it is a shame that the best sound system in the world, presumably, is not available for everyone to enjoy. I don't think that the people in queue liked techno more than I do, yet they got to enjoy it there and I did not.
I'll save my superior-techno experience to the Block in Tel Aviv :-D
S.
It's a gamble if you will get in or not but if you are lucky and do get in its absolutely awesome. Once you have the entry stamp you can leave and return as long as it's when the door is open. Spent twelve hours there, one of the best twelve hours of my life.
V.
Best ice cream place ever!
M.
Great club to free your mind and body , .... also an alternative art gallery at Moment since corona times🔮😁🤸
J.
Iconic for a reason! Excellent music and intriguing venue. Curated crowd (can be hard to get in), with great vibes. A must do for those devoted to techno.
M.
The sound, venue, lineup and crowd need no introduction. Amazing for those who love dark industrial techno. Beautiful people, and the bouncers are reasonable people doing a hard job. However 2 things took me out of techno nirvana multiple times, creeps and dishonest bartenders. 1) Got grabbed donald trump style by a creep, unwanted kisses by another etc. Ladies, stay safe. No club can keep them out. 2) Rude bartenders who eyerolled me for daring to order a drink at the bar, serving another woman who just arrived first with me standing there for a while in plain view, refusing to return change twice(had to get really insistent before i got my money back). First floor bartender was lovely. Keep an eye out for your change with the ice cream bar guys. Ruins the music high for a bit when you encounter such trashy behaviour/get treated like shit for no reason, so vote with your wallet, dont tip when it happens, and move to another bar in Berghain for your drinks.
R.
You're probably not waiting for my opinion on this one. It is the greatest club, not only in Berlin, but in the entire world! It's crazy and it would drive you crazy. The only problem is the entrance, nobody can be sure whether they will enter or not, it's up to the bouncers. But if you get in, you'll discover the real meaning of party.
S.
It’s Berghain - what do you expect? If you’re looking for a child-friendly, strictly catholic environment, yeah … then this is not your place.
Calculate in up to 2 hours of cue at the entrance and very high bounce rates (forget about a ‘secret recipe’ for getting in) but if you do get in you’ll get to enjoy a great labyrinth of a techno palace with a garden in summer, lots of small niches to relax, a great view at sunrise and parties throughout the entire weekend.
S.
Only been there once, probably got super lucky since I didn't even had to stand in line (was four people in front me and my friend, and they got rejected) - came there late/early a Saturday night/Sunday morning. Danced for a couple of hours and it was really great. But the night ended bad when my friend had to face the not so nice guards, and they physically pushed her out of the club. Don't get their problem tbh
J.
I was scared from all the reviews online, that how hard is it to get in. I kept a straight face, don't talk to bouncers in English. Just don't talk at all. Nod with your heads, They will put a duct tape or sticker on your phone cameras so don't be scared. Inside is really nice Music and chill crowd.
A.
🏢 is an experience. everybody feels free. sickest techno music on a crazy blasting sound system which is really on point. get in. make your own experience, if you have a heart ♥️ for techno. nothing really can describe the vibe. it’s crazy.
best time to go is still on sundays. mostly berliners, no tourists.
be yourself. if you don’t like techno, dont give it a “try”.
R.
My favorite place to dance like there is no tomorrow in Berlin, with harsh door policies but perfect selection of characters inside, sophisticated sound system tuned to the room and very intense lineup's. I'd definitely recommend to go on Sunday morning (if visiting from abroad without experience), and get a stamp to come back in the evening (eventually - if you make it inside and outside :D ) via line on the right side instead of stupidly waiting in a massive queue on Saturday or Sunday night for hours. Cheers!
V.
Fairly good amenities inside based upon a holistic lifestyle concept with various spaces designed for leisure, relaxation, socialising and fitness. Put your best game face on and do some pre-workout stretches before you get pumping.
Catering to a wide variety of clientele, their opening hours accommodate those who may have busy schedules during the week days. Due to popularity of the service queues are fairly likely at "peak" times though.
А.
Amazing place. I used to go there often. And then someday one of my friends came to visit from the other side of the world for a week and I was happy to show them that place I couldn't wait and after waiting for an hour we got rejected and it was late so we ended having a beer at a bus stop and go home. Too bad there's no way to know how to get in for sure. Can either be your best party or your worst evening.
A.
Overrated. We got in and I wore all black. The music was good but a little too hard techno for my taste. I needed some vocals. It's also a gay friendly club. Drinks were cheap and you could only pay in cash. Entry to the club is 18€. We waited in line for 10 mins before getting in. You also can't take photos. It was refreshing not having to worry about my phone and just connecting with my friends. It wasn't easy to make friends in berghain either. Kinda weird that everyone just keeps to themselves mostly.
We went to sisyphos afterwards I highly recommend it if you love the music festival vibe. It was much more fun than berghain.
B.
Went to Berghain alone on Sunday July 14 around 10 in the morning. Stood in line for 2 minutes. Best club I've ever been to. People in Berghain are amazing, energy in there is unreal. When you go to Berghain, you'll dance for hours.
A.
One of the most inspiring clubs I've ever been to. Music and sound system is incredible. Audience is the most relaxed ever. So much peace inside.
And now let me say a few words about door policy. If you run this place I guess you have the choice either to let everybody in until it's full or to handpick your audience. The latter creates this unique spirit of people who went there for passion. For pure party and for the music. And of course for the spirit Berghain provides. Everytime I watch the doormen I most of the times totally understand their "choices". People are often drunk, dressed for something else but Berghain, they are high as a kite, super loud or so and those are usually those who will be bounced. And please don't blame being bounced on racism. It's not the case. I went there many times in very mixed groups with people of all different kind of origins and colors and we never got bounced. People of colors are not bounced above average in my opinion.
One more comment: Yes, staff appears arrogant sometimes but it's fine for me. I see no big difference to other big clubs. And I don't wanna be friends with them. So stay cool.
M.
Not the best techno club of the world, but one of the best for sure. If you want to enter, here is what you need: you need to be part of the queer community and know their codes. Berghain is first and foremost a gay club. The filtering at the door may or may not make sense, is very frustrating but also allows to keep a safe space inside.
Other than that, Berghain is less crazy than what the rumours say. I've actually seen few hardcore things. The line-ups are always great - but some sets can be a little bit disappointing. The Berghain soundsystem is quite powerful, the Panorama bar one is okayish. Use of earplugs is recommended.
There's no need going there at peak time - be smart and don't queue more than 10 min.
M.
""Did I 'fit the bill'? - yes
Did I arrive at 'right time'? - potentially
Did I 'get lucky'? - perhaps …
A.
Just came back from there. I am not sure why this place is so mysterious. Bouncers are normal people who are just not going to let in if you are drunk group of tourists or “specially dressed up personnel”. Thats’s it. You will only like the place if you love the music.
Don’t try to get it just for the xp, you will lose your time.
D.
Very friendly staff :)))
Ps : thanks it was very funny
J.
I can't explain how deep emotions I felt into crowd of the people in the club. Intensive vibration of sound which was flowing into all part of your body. Also really tough and pure hard techno music just fire you away!!
D.
Berlin is the best nightlife in Europe. I loved Berlin the first time I went there and now I come back twice a year. Got some awesome friends here now. Berliners are such nice people. This club is amazing, I worked in Ibiza for 2 seasons and this is easily on par with the best clubs there. I was lucky enough to get on the guest list so I didn't have any issues with getting in. Lucky me. If your an open person that loves music and you like to mix with some awesome people. Then look no further. Enjoy 😎
D.
A unique experience if you ever get the chance to get in. The crowd, the music, the building itself....This place swallows you.
When I read angry comments of people that didn’t get in I’m glad they were left out!
If I’m ever blocked at the door I’ll accept it and just go somewhere else.
n.
True cathedral of techno. But not just techno, music can be surprisingly varied there, especially when its famed residents are playing . The best sound system in the world. Best to come after 8 on Sunday morning and stay till Monday morning when the energy is electric(napping breaks optional). Nice to take breaks between stomping sessions in the ice cream bar hidden in the corner upstairs. To get in, know what you're going for and look like you're there to have fun.
D.
Honestly after reading all these comments all I can tell u us ,dont dress up even if you are wearing black ..be your self .it really doesnt matter what u wear , what colour u wear .be comfortable .
The bouncers on 2 occasions were really nice a couple in front of me got rejected and the bouncer actually told them sorry u had to wait but today u cant get in .
All these racist comments about black hair and Asian is all rubbish. We were 2 Indian guys with of course one girl and we got In..i did wear black .my friend did not. The best part on 12th July 2019 sven was on the door the most infamous bouncer and we got in through him .
Inside there were so many asians blacks ..u name it ..so there is no such thing as tourist not allowed or that they are rasicts.
What makes it different is that they do their best in filtering people so everyone enjoys themselves and not just sit in one corner holding a drink and looking at each other
The vibe is so different than any other club I've been to in the world.
The music is amazing the sound system top notch ,the drinks are cheap ,the people that are let in just amazing ...
Dark rooms let's not go there ,once your inside you would know what it is .I dont wanna spoil the berghain image by sharing everything but all I can say is be your self..dont try to hard ..if u get in ,u get in .
Berghain is an experience more than clubbing ,ita a different world of music and people .
j.
Live up to it's reputation - music and ambiance are amazing ! To get in there is no ruke except to wear black clothes, not draw attention in the line (don't check your mobile phone), speak a bit of German and have something that sets you apart (in my case looking bourgeois and ready to party).
L.
sunday night was the night we decided go... we must of been potentially lucky. we spent about 15 mins in the line and had no problems with being rejected... we got in easily. (we did look pretty sexy though). some people try way too hard and we did see couples get rejected. other than that bar service awesome! music in both rooms sensational! top notch night! give it a go i say if you’re in berlin.
t.
We spent several days trying to decide which Berlin club to try and get into and for obvious reasons Berghain was top of the list. After lots of research it was clear that the door policy is pretty ridiculous, with reviews reporting people being turned away at random, sometimes inconsistently based on a criteria noone seems to entirely understand. Despite that we decided to give it a go anyway as we'd already had a great holiday and went with the mindset of probably being rejected.
All the one star reviews on here seem to fail to acknowledge the wealth of information that tells you it's hard to get in. Getting turned away can hardly be seen as false advertising... Whilst our experience is anecdotal the people that we saw get refused entry were a group of loud Americans which looked as if they'd read nothing about the place online. The less obvious refusal were a couple of two straight looking German lads in their early twenties. My only guess is that they didn't seem like they'd fully appreciate Berghain for what's it's meant for - a gay club where everyone can behave without judgment, instead they looked young and naive.
The queue was a long guessing game of trying to understand the aforementioned rejections, worried our English-ness would out us immediately. We arrived at 03:30am on Saturday night, looking to catch a well known UK DJ Joy Oribison who started at 03:00.
Who knows why we got in, luckily the entry procedure requires you to speak no German; you've just got to hold your fingers up with the number and say the corresponding German word. After a long evaluation we were finally let in, probably by some luck but we were all well suited to the club. Regularly attending raves, house parties in England and big appreciators of Electronic music.
Aside from the nervous preamble Berghain completely matched all our expectations. It's not like what you get in England where even the best clubs seem business-like; places that get you in with great music to sell you over priced beer. It's a proper experience that is way more than just good music. All the unusual rooms, incredible sound system, impeccable DJs and music, cheap drinks and great atmosphere.
Could recommend more, so glad we tried it but highly advise going with the mindset of being rejected. There is a club called Kater Blau nearby with a less intense door policy as a back-up that also had great reviews. Berlin is doing so many things right and I can't wait to come back again.
b.
Incredible atmosphere. Door staff were actually pretty friendly and we lucked out and got in on our 4th try. Music downstairs was atmospheric and intense whilst upstairs was more chilled out. Crowd gave off a fun non-judgemental vibe. Well worth the queueing!
B.
OK we went there when only the Panorama Bar was open (not the main bit) so this may not be representative, but here was our experience.
Getting in - so much has been written about this. Here is what I can say from seeing who was turned away. Don't dress up, but likewise don't wear boring clothes like you would wear around the house. Make an effort without being dressy. Don't look too young. Single guys, as well as larger groups, seemed more likely to be turned away. For us the wait was around 30 minutes and we got in - phew.
Music - it's great! Good DJs and good sound system.
Bar - absolutely terrible. There were only 2 or 3 barmen for around 1000 people. The wait to buy a drink was at least 30 minutes, and no one respects any sort of queuing system - you have to fight your way to the front. Friends of the barmen push in and get served first. Miserable.
Atmosphere - mostly fun people, though a bit on the aggressive side, possibly due to the dire bar situation. Coming from the UK it's very strange that everyone smokes inside, which as a non-smoker is pretty disgusting. But this seems fairly typical for Berlin clubs in general.
It was OK, but I won't ever be returning. Perhaps it's better when the whole place is open.
G.
nice family place, love it!
L.
This is hands down the most amazing place I have ever been in. Yeah it's hard to get in but the secret is too not be to loud in queue as they have eyes everywhere. Be cool, stay calm don't talk and be open minded, once you get in trust me it will be the best experience of your life. Will definitely be going back in the near future BERGHAIN BERLIN!!!!
H.
BERGHAIN is madness. Berghain is not just a club. It's an experience. And it may not be everyone's cup of tea thus not everyone goes in. Door policy is simple, bouncers have to make a decision if you fit that place that night or not. If they feel yes then they will let you in. Once you have been there, you know what it is. It is purest form of expression and freedom. Not judged by anyone or anything. So that's why regular have more chances to get in than travelers since they see that you belongs there. Having said so, even Berliner can't guarantee if they will get in, so aspect of racism and stuff is not true. I am Indian and managed to get in. You have to show that you belongs there.
The whole place is amazing. You have swings, ice cream shops, dark rooms, cheap beer, great sound system, but most importantly amazing people. Everyone is so friendly. Unlike in any other big venues, no one will give you attitude. Everyone will smile at your smile. I made trip to Berlin just to go there and will more for times to come.
S.
Had always thought it would be over hyped, but 18 hours later, my view on that was totally changed. The crowd makes it, so it totally makes sense why they reject so many tourists. I went in as a four, two girls, two guys, we all only speak english, no issue from Sven at 2am or 7pm the next day. Cant wait for the next visit.
M.
I’d like to share my feelings about getting into Berghain. I’ve read lots of tips how to behave and what to do or not to do. I didn’t get into at the first time on Friday but fortunately I did the next day. How did it happen? No one really knows 😊 I think this should be inside you. It’s the feeling that grows inside you. I guess there’s no need to be too cheerful, too confident. Definitely showing off won’t do you any good. Proper clothes could help but I wore the same clothes both days which was a little bit colourful hoodie. I said nothing when the bouncer asked me who’s with me. I just nodded my head when he asked me if I’m alone. I suppose they know who’s random and who’s a tourist. You just have to be “right” for Berghain. On the first day I was sure I’ll get inside. On the second day I just told myself I donor give a “f*uck” and I guess that helped hahaha. No tips can help. They can just give you a general overview. Good luck to everybody. As far as the inside is concerned I can only say it’s simple, dark, rough and industrial. People who enter the club feel a little bit special because they got into. There’s the main stage and a few bars. You are not allowed to take photos. You’ll get stickers on your phone. On the other hand you can focus on music not on phone, photos or filming. Some people wear extravagant clothes, half naked like on the beach 😜 So good luck and enjoy the best techno in the world!!
S.
The most amazing place on earth. True sense of freedom, incredible music, extraordinary atmosphere and amazing crowd. A must before you die. A life changing experience
A.
Its hilarious reading all the negative reviews for people that have either been rejected or get turned off by the debauchery going on inside.
Berghain has its roots in the gay fetish community. It’s a place where people who’s interests and lifestyles are shunned by the straight conservative society can truly be themselves. And do whatever they like. If you’re not accepting of this, or don’t feel like educating yourself, you should go somewhere else. There are many other great clubs in berlin if you’re only there for the music.
I can’t say for sure. But the bouncers seems to be doing all in their power from keeping people that’s Insensitive to that out. That’s what keeps Berghain what it is.
I’ve been to many great clubs in Berlin and around the world. But I still haven’t found anything that can even compare with the feeling of pure ectasy and sense of complete freedom of being myself that I get in Berghain.
So tips for getting into Berghain. Be visibly queer, dress in some kinky attire, and be respectful of the precious space that is Berghain.
P.
Awesome space defo worth checking out. Door policy means the crowd is very particular. We got in fine and loved it, but if you get turned away it might not be the best place for you anyway.
M.
Having read through many of these reviews for the Berghain, it seems the '1 star' reviews are from people that either got rejected because they looked boring/bad attitude or their drugs didn't work (which is nothing to do with the Berghain). Yes the queue is long, but 'good things come to those who wait'. If you're open-minded, and have a taste away from the ubiquitous mainstream then this club welcomes you to be yourself and then to have the added benefit of partying with some of the most fascinating, like-minded people in the world. It's rare that a club demands so much respect and awe in this day and age, but the Berghain is that; simply 'a living legend'.
To sum up my experience, the club is split into three; downstairs is the Laboratory (a labyrinth of intimate bars, back-rooms, and niches where one can experiment with other 'like-minded' people), the main room is an awe-inspiring, cathedral-like, open dance floor playing intense and melodic techno through enormous Funktion One speakers which massage the ears, and finally the upper floor is the Panorama bar, which is a light-filled, loft-style space playing refined deep house/minimal; almost having an Ibiza feel to it.
The owners have very carefully thought about the vibe they want to communicate; there are so many details, but one good example being that there are no mirrors, which encourages you to leave yourself and engage with others around you, creating a unique, unspoken spirituality.
A.
I like Berghain and I really dont understand why people are putting here a negative reviews if they did not get inside? Guys, mostly clubs in the world are private like >Berghain, so the owners of the club can do whatever they want and they can decide who can get inside and who not, so please chill and relax. There are plenty others clubs in Berlin where you can go. I like Berghain. There is always good techno music, cool & easy going people with hedonistic attitude. The bar keepers doing a great job and the prices are ok. The club is not for everyone. Guys at the door: you do a fantastic job !
I.
Let me explain my experience:
My friend and I got in on Sunday early evening from our first attempt, had we not got accepted I would have tried again couple of times in the next weekend as it was on my to do list in this trip to Berlin, because I have been in 5 of the top Berlin Clubs and I wanted to get in this one to know what the buzz is all about.
From my tiny experience as tourist who doesn't speak the language, clubs in Berlin are very unique and as much as you read or experience them you still have a chance to get turned away as they want people who knows what they are getting themselves into. Some they want balanced mixed guys vs girls, some become less strict at Sundays and some might ask you if you know who is playing to check if you will fit in the crowd but none shows discrimination because of my skin color.
Back to Berghein: this club is one of the best I have ever been in, best sound system, best techo music (obviously) and the crowd are super free they do what they like no questions asked ;)
Update: after my successful first attempt, I tried twice and got rejected but male no mistakes, I will try again again every time I visit Berlin
J.
Pretty unique place.
Vibe inside is not like your typical club. Takes a minute to get used to it, but all patrons inside were very free. And vibing one another. The building itself was intense. Huge building. Cool place for a party. This place isnt about "making money". Beer and water were less than 3EUR.
If you dont get in, try again. I'd say it's worth it to get in at least one.
If you're butthurt about being rejected the first time, then this place is probably not for you .
C.
The best sound I have ever heard. Me and my boyfriend were lucky to get in on our first try. So don't give up. You should definetely go here if you have the chance 😍👍👌
T.
waited four hours in line to get into the most renowned techno club in berlin, got in and left after thirty minutes. thats all you need to see before you've had enough. prefer to go to the more intimate venues berlin has to offer, if you know what i mean.
m.
Best club in the world. I've traveled to many many different cities and countries and have never EVER been able to experience a venue such as this before ever in my life! The multiple floors and metal catwalk with huge truck tires for seats!!! Amazing. I found the dance floor to be the best as well as the music. Thump and bass and drum and base you can feel under your feet as you go in. The door guy with his "look" is quite scary at first but isn't that what you want in a door guy...someone scary? I was most amazed by the fact that we left around 5-6am and there was still a line outside waiting to get inside!! Berghain is the best experience you'll have for the nightlife scene.
d.
Stop complaining the club it’s not the same, it’s too expensive, it’s getting tourist, if you don’t like just don’t go.
For me you get the best sound with this hours, 18 euro is reasonable, in other countries probably more expensive for entry and then club closes at 7am.
C.
Berghain is one of those places that you only understand once you're inside of it. It is truly like nothing you have ever seen before, and it is the crowd of people inside that help add to this experience, hence why the door policy is so strict. There are things you see that you can't unsee in Berghain, but if you are the type of person that can see past that and be open to it then you are the right person for this place. They want people that know how to party, if you aren't there to party it will be written all over your face. Sunday morning and day is the best time you can go, thats when the real party starts.
D.
Wow. What an experience... 2nd time around and loved every minute. Pano was incredible. So much to take in. Berghain is a 90s mega blast from the past. Go...
e.
Best club in the world, I’m so glad that they have a strict door policy! We don’t want people to ruin this all inclusive liberal experience🏳️🌈❤️
조.
Best club simply for techno music lovers. I do respect the door policy even though somestimes I get rejected. It would be easy for them to raise up the price to like 100 euro like Ibiza then tourists and non techno fans won't go. But to keep the price low to 12-16 euro and providing quality music for 3 days ! They have to reject people at the door. Also if it were first come first served basis then ppl will queue super early.... so that wont be wise either. Dont take the door policy too personal and be angry with it..
C.
We got into Berghain! Booked an experience on Airbnb called "Get in the Club". They are local experts who get you dressed with the right outfit, give you the do's and don'ts and take you in. It was an amazing experience and worth every cent. I highly recommend this so you don't waste your time and energy and get rejected.
S.
I got in through connections, so no queue. I would have HATED it had I had to wait 3hrs to get in. Best sound system ever. Music is OK, but not impressive. Be quiet if you're queuing, you'll have time to let it all out when/if you get in.
L.
i'm an 18 year old classical musician from bln. came here on my 18th birthday. this was the first club i've been to, let alone the first time i really got a taste of techno. bh did something to me, and no, this is not a story of slow transformation. i have no memory of gradual, painful, poetic change, no lessons that i learnt, and no instruction on the efficiencies of forcing oneself to feel. bh rubbed against me like sandpaper. the people weren't pretty enough. i guess i quite liked that.
ok, lets skip to the not so fun parts, waiting in the guest line (longer than normal line), the occasional minimal techno at panorama (yuck), the getting to school at 8am part, also, just a personal one: skip ben klock (crowd sucks) & bh birthdays (need room)
L.
Just here to be the 3.000st person rating the club.
C.
Bonkers! Best night club I've ever been to. if you like it dark and dangerous then go and try to get it. Don't be disappointed if u fail as many have before u. If at first you don't succeed then try, try and TRY again.
B.
Amazing place where I use to go. I often come to Berlin only to go to Berghain. The guys at the door are always super nice with me. The music is the techno I love. There is no other place like this. Much love!
S.
It took me 4 tries to get in. But it totally lived up to its expectations. I would try 10 times and it would still be worth it. That atmosphere, those people, that building, it is madness inside. It is this harsh doorpolicy what makes this club amazing. A night I will never forget!
d.
Not worth writing about what goes on inside... cannot be explained, and is best not disclosed. This place is beyond comparison.
to anyone thinking of going and who wants advice on how to get past the door - you will get in if you look like you belong there.
K.
Where I go to dance freely and enthusiastically to great music amongst strangers who I (usually) feel safe and relaxed around. The door policy isn’t fun, but many necessary and effective things aren’t.
D.
Very underground and infamous club in Berlin.well known by dark techno.it has one of the strictest door policies in the world.wearing black and appearing like a hipster is a most to get in.very long queue.
F.
i give a 1 star for the door policy
4 for the atmosphere and people inside(however there is lots of wannabes inside)
4 for the place it self.
4 for the soundsystem
the music itself varies it can be a zero or a 5.
The black clothing selection is just a myth that spread and right now kinda looks ridiculous. Just go casual be yourself but not super fancy.
go on groups of 2, more than that can be difficult.
Also this thinking of dont speak at the door or dont speak in English is ridiculous. again be yourself and dont try to hard to get in.
If you don do it today you do it tomorrow.
drinks reasonable priced.
Second hint if the cue is big, dont waste your time.
Berlin is full of great places and there is always some times in the evening that there is no cue so if you are rejected at least you don waste one precious hour or more in the line.
Enjoy Berlin nightlife, enjoy Berghain.
for me Tresor is still king somehow without the wannabe cool door policy.
I would have more to say but i will not spoil the good things...and the bad things.
I.
This is the best nightclub I’ve ever been to. The energy and atmosphere is unique. You won’t find anything like this anywhere else. Ones you get in you will have the night of your life!
D.
Absolutely Outstanding. Incredible music and line up. Very selective thou. Go on Pairs not groups. Most of clubs in Berlin dont take groups. BEWARE>
M.
People who blame Berghain, do not understand about the concept and culture of this world most dark and dangerous club. As a dancer who experienced more than 40 clubs in Berlin, can say I feel Western-centrism little somehow, but honestly Berghain is not. Also full of Fetish, Sex-friendly club based on techno, but no sexual harassement. If you want enjoy here, you should understand and respect the concept and culture of Berghain, not pretending with black uniform.
C.
You have to if you get to. Once you have it is just insane but in a good way. Once in a life time kind of experience. Worth the wait.
C.
This is simply the best club in the world. This club alone is worth coming to the city. The door policy which appears to be tough is actually really great, there are no actual criterias but inside the atmosphere is always great, with really nice and open people. If you're scared you won't get in, then go to the friday parties in Panorama Bar which are easier to get in, if you're into the real deal then go the regular Klubnacht on the saturday that lasts pretty much 36 hours every weekend. The sound system is really powerfull and clear, there regularly big names on the line-up, but you'd be surprise of the talent of the DJs you've never heard, if they play in the Berghain there's a good reason. I strongly recommand this club that will pretty much ruins all the future experience you may have in other as you'll always keep comparing and see what is missing, from the people to the quick cloakroom people to bartenders that serve you in the order you arrived at the bar to the doormen that remember your face even when haven't seen you for months... It's just the best, and no one inside will ever tell you otherwise. Have fun!
M.
It's everything they say it is, and more!
Can be tricky to get in. Girls - side-sheds and high-tops are the order of the day. Leave your heels at home! The head steward is known to "look into your soul" when deciding whether or not to let you in to the Berghain, so there's not much you can pack in your suitcase to prepare for that!
Sunday late-morning is a good time to go as the queues are usually non-existent.
When/if you get in, the Hurricane cocktails are the bomb!
Y.
One of the best nights of my life, I’ve never felt like everyone in the club were my friends and family before... thanks for the great time, definitely coming back again!
J.
A chance to visit, a contemporary equivalent of Moulin Rouge
and sigh a bit.
e.
Getting in seems to be quite a random process. Wait time was about an hour on a Saturday night.
T.
THE BEST. Words cannot describe. I had high expectations of Berghain and really, it was even better than I expected. WAY better! And Jay Yao, no, it's not because you're Asian. I was with 3 other Asian girls and we got in. You make it seem like they're racists, but they're not. Also, when we got to the door, the bouncer immediately spoke English to me. We didn't even speak to eachother the last few meters in line. For some reason he just knew we weren't from Germany, and it didn't matter.
The next time I'm visiting Berlin I will definitely try to get in again. It was so, so worth the long wait.
K.
What can you say about berghain that hasn't been said? I don't know, alot, probably. But yeah it's really nice and the atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and filled with illegal drugs. They mostly pick out the idiots from coming in which is a bit elitistic but I guess it's needed to keep the "right" atmosphere.
They check you phone and bag (quite poorly) so keep that in mind when you enter.
My advice is to get the early in the morning and just have a blast.
To sum it up, berghain is famous for a reason.
P.
Definitely the best club I've ever been to, I had never heard of this place before until I went on a trip to Germany and after 7 hours driving from the south to Berlin, my friends took to this place and I can only say that was by far the best night of my life, I just can't describe how amazing that night was.
J.
Something worth preparing for. I enjoyed other parties in Berlin more, but this place is worth a visit for anyone a little zesty. Got in easily as I followed the rules...
C.
What can I say? It's considered to be the best techno club in the world. If you get past the strict guards by the door, you'll be rewarded with techno heaven. Godly sound: get outa hieeh! An interesting venue: whoa? And super cool people: Heeeellloooo!
M.
I went on a Sunday morning around 7 am and there was no line, wore black and running shoes, if you don’t love techno... don’t go, if you do and your looking for a night (or day) to be able to let loose, do it!
D.
The one and only, unique, temple of Techno! The darkest underground club I've visited and one of the best parties I've been to!
After 20 years of clubbing in Europe, NYC and Miami and 10 years after I first heard about Berghain, I finally came to Berlin. On my second night in the City, somewhere around 04:00 I was there standing at the end of a not-so-long queue and looking at that fortress-like ugly building, wondering whether the bouncers at the door will see/feel/notice all the years and years of my clubbing experience or maybe notice how anxious and excited I am at the same time...? After about 15 minutes of queuing they just looked at me and said "Are you alone? Come in!" The rest is...well, let's just say that the party quickly turned into one of the best I've ever been and that the club itself deserves all of the hype and urban-myth stories you've heard... :)
If you are a TRUE clubber, especially one with an affection for dark, underground clubs, playing proper hard beat TECHNO music - be prepared for anything and everything such places offer and GO FOR IT! :)
Otherwise - turn around and go to some of the hundreds of other clubs Berlin offers...
A.
How to get into Berghain?
Be gay! – Group size, outfits, ethnicity, age, gender, all don't matter.
If you're not gay – and the Bouncers can smell that from miles away – ask yourself: Have I ever been to a gay party before? Were people comfortable with me there? Was I comfortable there? Do I have any queer friends? Do I know a lot about gay and lesbian subculture?
Berghain is first and foremost a queer club, it has originated from the gay subculture in Berlin and has been a big part of the scene for the last two decades. If your answer to the questions above is "no", Berghain *really* shouldn't be your first contact to gay subculture, and your chances of getting in are slim, to be honest. It's a safe space for us queers. There are so many alternatives for every taste and style in Berlin for straight people: Kater Blau, Sisyphos, Wilde Renate, Tresor, Kit Kat and the list goes on.
You can't dress "queer", or behave "gay", everyone will notice and you won't be let inside. Go back home, educate yourself, make some gay friends, let them take you to queer Bars and Clubs and see if you're comfortable with that.
If you are, you will know how to get into Berghain the next time, and I will see you on the dance floor!
C.
Most reviews are from people that didnt even make it in. Had a good laugh reading those reviews from frustrated people that arent in that negative cool lifestyle and therefore couldnt go in.
Inside its worth way more than 5 stars. Unique place.
P.
The must go club if you are visiting Berlin. A lot of people complain about how hard it is to get in, but we got admitted on the first try.
G.
We have traveled the world to many clubs and festivals this is in the top two but beware of their strict no drug policy even though it’s open from Thursday to Monday non stop! And all the staff seam to work at least a 18 hour shift? 🤷🏼♂️
J.
Berlim for sure has the best underground scene, and when Berghain is a subject, it´s the top 10! The place is great! I had the best night ever there! A lot of fun, great people, amazing place.
N.
Good food. Empanadas where good but could use bit more spice. Waiters very friendly but looks a little tired. Music bit loud for a restaurant. Long line infront so perhaps make resevation if you are a big group dinning together. Very dark inside could barely see my empanadas
r.
Amazing place almost impossibile to explain in words!! Security is really professional and I love the fact that you can't take pictures this is a good privacy policy😉 It was really hard for me ti come back home because I wanted to stay in forever ❤️
P.
Well, well. Berghain. Obviously the best acts on a regular basis and appropriate prices for the better big venues in Berlin. There is nothing to hate about the door policy, its neither "anti-foreign/asien/hetero" or whatever nor are there any dresscodes at all. Black is just plain. Its not about attention but diversity in personalities and this isn't expressed by your clothes but by your face, your acting and your behaviour. Obviously it's kind of ridiculous to judge someone on first sight but this is what a bouncer have to do so clothes are just a distraction and most of all it appeals to distract from your regular personality. Just don't act like a dick, smile and be friendly and if you don't get in thats not about you, it's about the first impression judgement or you just don't fit the diversity allocation at the moment. It's simply luck, get over it and have a Plan B.
J.
Thank you berghain for amazing night! Morning.... afternoon... LOL . Pro tips: check which DJ is more ur style n arrive at that time. Pointless arriving so early to do a looooong queue. I arrived at 7 am n it was none. Don't be afraid or nervous at entrance! Just be yourself n according how to dress... no extravaganza! Moreover, dont be mad with security guards, they are doing their job n taking care of everyone. Pd: I'm not German but Latino 😁
J.
Dont like techno? Dont go! But this club is a brilliant piece of art. Where all types of different people meet who all share a love for techno, dancing and an occasional party boost. I took my friend who is a metal freak to berghain for his first visit to a techno club. My friend who never dances, took an e and danced for 5 hours. Berghain! I <3 U ❤️👌😎
P.
Simply the best club in the world. Prices are absolutely okay and the door policy is necessary to create this unique feeling inside. Berghain is mostly living from it's surreal atmosphere which is created by a dark and industrial architecture combined with open minded, creative people and absolute freedom. There are no words needed for both bookings and the sound system. The best time to go to Berghain is from sunday morning on towards monday - especially sunday night. People who got rejected and give a one star rating have absolutely no idea what it's about - so it's better for everybody inside to not having you in. I didn't got in every time too, deal with it that's Berghain. :)
A.
Truly incredible club. Worth the wait in line—even if you have to try another weekend. Guaranteed to come away with a memorable experience and the club is even better than the hype!
g.
Only for few elected ppl
B.
Craving a decadent dessert I took it upon myself to visit the world’s most notorious ice-cream parlour - Berghain - known for dishing out an exclusive line-up of fleshy flavours in all hues from around the globe. If you are fortunate enough to gain access to this hot mess of a milk bar, below is a guide to ensure you end up in a sticky situation.
Zitrone.
The most tantalisingly tarty of the bunch: Zitrone provides a sugary pheromonal hit with a hint of sour and is great for those watching their figures whilst ordering ice-cream in the nude as the sun rises. Best enjoyed with a Dirty Martini under the Grecian man’s sculpted form on entry.
Joghurt-Waldbeere.
The most audaciously adventurous of the bunch: Joghurt-Waldbeere is a thoroughly fruity, milky and downright magnificent concoction for all types salacious and/or sedated. Best enjoyed with a Mexican Candy or two near the coat check.
Melone.
The most disarmingly deranged of the bunch: Melone reserves itself exclusively for those so confused as to the time, day and year of their present being that this non-event of a fruit seems like a worthy ice-cream companion. Best enjoyed with a shower at home as it’s past your bed time.
Banana.
The most nihilistically naughty of the bunch: Banana is for those idiosyncratic types who love that great Banana taste but hate potassium. Best enjoyed with an actual banana front left of main stage.
Vanille.
The most blindingly basic of the bunch: Vanille is a smooth, classic operation that hits you exactly how and when you know it will - no surprises here. Best enjoyed with an Espresso Martini on the rails above Panorama.
Schoko.
The most comprehensively childish of the bunch: Schoko is rich and sweet, mixing business with pleasure to make it known that you are living your best life. Best enjoyed with a White Russian in the upper bathrooms.
Best of luck to all.
L.
Each time I meet incredibly nice and truly inspiring people. The music and atmosphere is pure joy.
The Acai Smoothies are the best :)
M.
Is it still called hype if it's all true? This club is unmatchable. Because of it I understand the true difference between noise and sound. It is the temple of the latter. Missing Berghain while near...or alive at all for that matter, is folly.
M.
The myth is true! It's the temple of techno music! The design, the music, everything is just crazy and unique. One of the greatest parties I have ever had :D
E.
No words to explain this place :) if you are lucky you will get in and can have d most amazing techno vibes of your life. But be very open when you walk through those doors 😜😜😜
T.
Once in a lifetime experience. I went alone and had the time of my life.
M.
This is the best club in the world, no question about it. The residents in Berghain are at the forefront of techno and the residents in Panorama are constantly shaping the house and tech-house scene. The strict door and the group of dedicated regulars who are super into the Berlin music scene make Klubnacht (Saturday night through Monday) the best weekly party in Berlin. This is a club for people who are super into techno (Berghain) and house (Panorama) and know how to act and what to expect in a real "music-focused" club. The sound system in Berghain is significantly better than in Panorama but the difference in the music and the vibe will always determine where you end up partying. For a few of the monthly Friday night parties like Perlonized and Finest Friday only Panorama is open and the music is more house focused although it is not uncommon for djs to bring in tech-house elements.
For reference, I would call Vegas, Miami [other than Space on good nights], London [other than Fabric, Egg (sometimes), and XOYO (sometimes)], Ibiza [other than Sankeys], and New York [other than Output] clubs "experience-focused" clubs, where people who might not know what dj is playing or who do not regularly go to clubs can go out for a night to just have fun. Berghain is definitely not an "experience-focused" club. It is an environment built for people who are extremely passionate about the music and the group of people they are partying with, in which everyone is free to be whatever version of themselves that they truly want to express. Because of this, there are no photos allowed (your phone will be stickered when you come in), there is no vip or "bottle service" (people who are looking for this both don't belong in Berghain and won't get in), and you will see people in some of the most amazing/dark/freaky/beautiful/insane/genius/scary/intriguing states that you have ever seen.
Many people have talked about the door policy but I would like to break it down as simply as possible: if you think you won't get in, you won't get in - if you don't have a lot of experience in clubs, you won't get in - if you are loud in line, you won't get in - if you are dressed like you are going to a fancy dinner or prom, you won't get in - if you are a big group of either guys or girls, you might not all get in - if you try to tell one of the doormen "who you are", you won't get in - if you get angry at the doormen because you don't get in once, you won't get in the next time. Speaking as someone who has been a BH regular, I have stood in line with a lot of people who have been rejected and I always struggle to tell anyone to just go home (I still haven't done it - I always try to suggest other options for people who I think won't get in but I feel like it is too negative or rude to just come out and tell them) but I hope that if anyone reads this and then doesn't waste two hours in line just to get rejected then hopefully I helped them have fun and avoid wasting their time in Berlin. I will just add that anyone who is rejected once should just take it as that, you were rejected once - this doesn't mean that you won't get in tomorrow or next week or even six hours later, it just means that right now you're not getting in.
M.
Iwent to this club on February 23 and was shocked, there was such an atmosphere of kindness and warmth, there were cool contests and good music, I was satisfied
a.
The best club I have ever been to we got in pretty fast on a Sunday morning ,the music was out of this world and the vibe inside is one of a kind
B.
Amazing spot with great music and great atmosphere. Loved the beats. Bad ass club with djs that are constantly pushing the bar and playing the best stuff.
L.
5+ stars for the music, the sound, the environment, the crowd, the prices, the bar, even the tough ice hearted bouncers (have entered from a third time), but WHY THE TOILETS SHOULD BE OCCUPIED when there are so many dark places for having each other?
N.
The best club in Berlin, for the best people in Berlin. It's really not everyone's cup of tea and that's OK. But if you're of the Berghain crowd, you've found your new home.
T.
Please never change so we will eventually been released of this disneyland plague making Berlin looks like a rollercoaster park. Starting from the good idea to preserve the city from tourism agression, the club actually today fuels itself the low cost flights tanks of people looking for thrills and voyeurism. Sven has helas for him became the deutschbequivalent of eiffel tower. Can't wait to get my mini Svennie on my key chains... so hype.
The owners and bouncers' melon(and cash machine) has finally blurred their their smoked sunglassed eyes. Whish it will end soon and reborn from the still warm ashes while there's time.
P.
The key is wait in a queue for 2hrs, don't talk, don't make eye contact or look like you're having fun, don't dress too extravagantly, wear uniform black, be from Berlin, do not be from outside, don't make disparaging remarks about the place if you don't get in. Or just avoid the hype and go to the multitude of other amazing clubs in Berlin. Clubbing should be about inclusion, Berghain's policy is about a 101 in pretentiousness.
N.
Let's get shwifty and dirty
K.
Unforgettable. Berghain has ruined all other clubbing for me in the best possible way. If you're trying hard to get in....you most likely wont.
S.
' ... quite possibly the current world capital of techno.'
[ philip sherburne : dj + producer ]
NO MORE WORDS TO SAY. THIS CLUB IS: UNIQUE. EPIC. LEGENDARY. btw whatever many others say: the bouncers are not 'hard' or 'tough' - they are doing a real great job. that's it!
A.
Got let in really easily which was a bit disappointing. Certainly hoped to fight for it a little bit. Bought sweets easily in the toilet from a heavily pierced topless weirdo. nice guy.
R.
💖
C.
Really nice exhibition in the most infamous club.
C.
This place was one of the sickest places I've ever been to. Definitely worth the 2 hours wait but that's probably because I got in even though 1/2 the people in line didn't. Regardless, GO!!!
P.
i love the cleaning crew there they just wear large sport shorts with no tshirt, head flashlight and rubber gloves lol
i had an espresso and it was pretty good
D.
Hi. We went to BERGHAIN to NY eve. Specially for that. Rent a room near by. We stand before Berghain since 10 p.m:))) And they start let in people about 1 pm. We stand for about 8 hours!!!!!! They reject us 4 times!!!!!! But we didn't have any other options. So we stand and for 5'th time succes!!!!!And let me be perfectly clear. We habe been with my girlfrirend in couple clubs in hole world . But in my opinion there isn't even one club which is close to Berghain. Berghain is last truly underground techno club in the world. It's the best club on the planet!!!!!And it was worth it to stand whole new years eve in line really worth it!!!!!LOVE this place!!!!!To everybody. For once in life you should try get inside you wont regret it!!!! Generally it was my best New Years eve and never endind party!!!!!Best of the best!!!!For me there is no words' can discribe this place, you just have to see it.
M.
One of the best clubs in Berlin, if not in Europe. People talk a lot on how to get in, I tell you. Just be yourself and the doors will be open for you!
風.

The Bloody Mary is okay, nothing too special
F.
There is nothing in the world like Berghain.
Keepping the door that strict makes the feeling more unique. Because not everyone is allowed to enter to the paradise.
P.
🖤
M.
Superb music and atmosphere. In a group or alone, Berghain has something for you. Be yourself at the queue and you'll get in.
K.

Small things that I love about Berghain: when one asks for a shot of Jager they serve two for you to toast with the bartender.
N.
Believe the hype, this place is an absolute techno palace! Good vibes in the Panorama bar <3 Can't wait to come back some day.
J.
For those who are into techno this place is nothing short of a cathedral.

C.
This was the most amazing experience i have ever had, theres nothing else like it, you either been or you have not, thankyou team!
S.
Brilliant place! Went there for a concern of super outdated music, but the atmosphere made it anyway!
P.
Great place to spend your entire weekend ;) 4 stars only because the bouncers are super pretentious (To their credit they have to be selective)
W.
Yes it`s the famous berghain, but there are better clubs to enjoy. The door can be tricky, but they choose fair.
D.
Selection is really thought, I suggest Sunday morning as a good way to get in. You have to try it once in your life
D.
the most popular club in Berlin. It is pretty good but a little overrated.
A.
Tried to get in 5 times and failed. I've heard it's great when you get in though.

M.
If you really like underground techno and can manage to get in, you'll be never disappointed.
C.
A very cool place. It is huge and very dynamic. Hard to get into but worth it!
F.
Sound system is good, but acoustics are bad. Also people inside are not my type.
R.
Had to wait 5 hours to get it, but amazing place. The reason taking so long was due to it being a German Holiday on Mondayl
N.
The best sound, the best DJ's. Totally awesome!!!! I will definitely go back!
H.
Best club on earth and a cultural experience to boot. Amazing
M.
One of the best clubs, try to go to panorama bar the strict door policy is easier there

Just two words... WOW WOW
G.
Awesome building and atmosphere. Absolutely stunning.
C.
It's a gay club where there's a black room for anonymous gay sex. There, that's what happens in Berghain, if you're curious.
B.
Most life enriching experience you will ever experience in underground culture.
K.
Best night club I've ever been to. Respect
