The Staff. Hands down, the staff interaction with guests is on point. The restaurant serves amazing food. The room was nice and tidy, with great water pressure, but it lacked a 5 star feel. We had a door between rooms and felt there was a little "noise leakage" However, I understand the hotel was fully booked, and we were grateful to have a room. The view is nice, and the balcony is a relaxing place to sit with a coffee. We are locals and regularly frequent the restaurant. The staff and the food make it. You guys are awesome.

The staff here are wonderful. Very helpful and friendly. I also loved having my meals from the kitchen delivered to my room. Only took 15min from the time I ordered, to the time it got to my room. My bathroom hadn't been reset properly upon arrival but nothing worth complaining about. The price of the room was definitely overpriced. If you don't absolutely require a bigger room, get the smaller one. It isn't really worth the added cost. Otherwise I'd happily stay again. Aircon was a life saver

We had to be at a family Christmas gathering before lunch time and so we arrived at the hotel around 1100 in the hope of being able to at least check-in. The manager was kind enough to not only let us check-in, but also she gave us the room …

The customer service was absolutely Amazing and there is nothing you can fault with the customer service and the clean tidy appearance the workers have. The room was not what I expected - it was clean and tidy - just not what I had expected with it being a premium room. We ordered only breakfasts the two nights we stayed - first morning we absolutely loved our breakfast and have since raved to our friends about it. Second morning one was as Delish as the first morning but unfortunately the second one was a bit of a flop (could be my fault with the coffee as I made a unusual request that they had not heard of before (dirty chai) but was very undrinkable). The water pressure was absolutely amazing and you did get a slight view of the oceans. Balcony was cute but a bit small to actually enjoy time on it. When you arrive it is very welcoming and it is right to the end. But 5 stars to the actually workers that work there and the wonderful owner. Not many places have amazing staff like they do here.

Best service and atmosphere in a beautiful setting full of personality and character. Staying here is a delight, rooms are very comfortable and the property and amenities are perfect. The restaurant is fantastic, service was snappy and friendly, menu is modern and very well put together. Delicious! Well done to the crew and management.

Awesome little bar with a really nice atmosphere. Beers on the deck are great. Wickedly good prices. Food is primo, and staff are super friendly. Highly recommend 👌

The more expensive rooms are nicely appointed but there is no range hood over the hob, the numbers where all worn off the controls and the smoke alarm was less than 2 meters away. We burned the food thinking we had the element on low (one click to the right) but it was maximum. The owners came and told us it costs $400 to get the alarm reset. The water pressure is super high and the taps are stiff so first time you use the water you get wet. The motel has a spa pool but you have to pay extra to use it for half an hour. The cheaper room upstairs gets the sun so was super hot at the end of the day. No aircon and the windows only open a fraction.

Food is delicious and staff are amazing. The night we went there was a false fire alarm set back which was OK. Staff handled it well and we were only set back 10min. However we still waited 2 hours for our mains and they kept getting my sons order incorrect. My partner and I canceled our mains because we got tired and hungry and the kids were over it after the long wait. The rest of the family enjoyed most of their meals. Our appetizers were delicious. Might have been a bad night for the chef or low staff. Therefore overall experience not too bad.

What wonderful accommodation in a beautiful spot. The service is outstanding - such lovely team from reception all the way through to the adjacent restaurant. Bedding was so comfortable and we got to enjoy the spring sun on the balcony, we'll have to stay in summer and get the chance to use the beautiful looking pool. Clean, comfortable mid-price accommodation, but the customer experience is what makes this an easy 5 star rating!

We stayed two nights at the Comfort Hotel Flames in October 2021. The service is excellent.The rooms are large and comfortable. The food is very good and they make a great drink. We highly recommend this hotel.

Was so impressed with the customer service, everyone was so friendly and so professional, we felt so welcome. The hotel is super clean, rooms are so comfortable and bathroom sneaky clean. Only thing is interior may be a tad outdated but I personally did not mind it. They have a nice pool outside which would be nice in the summer. I was really impressed with the food from their restaurant, food was so tasty and they cater to everyone. Prices of food may appear a tad pricey but it's definitely a place where you come to have a nice meal so is worth it for sure. The garden is beautiful and parking available outside. 1 min away from new world and local shops, great location.

The hotel isn't particularly modern but it is really comfortable and the staff are really fantastic. We loved the food and thought the location was great.

The hotel was exactly as expected. Although getting on a little, it was very clean and very functional, everything you may require was provided. The most impressive point of my stay was the staff and management, I cannot compliment this 'Team' enough. Well done.

A nice comfortable hotel with a great view and in a good location. Close enough to city but far enough away to be quiet, supermarket and takeaways next door plus restaurant on site. Nice and warm and heat pump a good quick way to heat room in middle of winter. Large rooms were well equipped. We enjoyed our stay.

The family run business is great. They’re so nice and they try so hard too. Explained they’ve been there a short time. Starting to modernise it. But I couldn’t find a lift... I’m currently on crutches. No problem though. The rooms are nice and big

This place was awesome, the waitress even took us down to see the hidden water fall at the back so customer service is a plus. The food was great however my rating was pulled down by the dessert, I ordered a caramel Brule and got a slop, not sure if that's a normal but yeah a drag

We were on motorbikes really wet and from the first phone call to get a room was fantastic. The lady on the pphone went out of her way to get us a room. When we finally arrived she asked if we needed to put anything in the dryer she was amazing. We went and had a meal in the restaurant and the food and service was outstanding. Thank you for making a bad day into a good end to the day we will be back.

Looking for a spacious room with views of the harbour in a quiet location, bathroom with bath and shower and plenty of room to spread out your toiletries. Large comfortable bed. Excellent meals available.

Best kept secret in Whangarei to stay and so handy to town . I stumbled across Flames and now there is no going back to stay elsewhere. Beautiful setting - recommend the Garden room over looking the pool out to the harbour - super private. I was so impressed how clean it was and how friendly and helpful the staff were. A fabulous restaurant beautifully decorated with a great indoor / out door feel and a extensive menu and delicious food that was exceptional ,best meal in Whangarei. I travel to Whangarei often from Auckland - this is my new go to hotel . A big Thankyou to the Team here ,I had a wonderful stay. Try it - you will not be disappointed 🌈

Our stay at the Comfort Flames Hotel at Onerahi - Whangarei was absolutely fabulous 😄. While this is not a new hotel the facilities were clean, spacious and comfortable - lovely views from the balcony as well. The staff were extremely obliging and friendly. We were very impressed with all our meals at the restaurant there and felt they were modestly priced. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful outlook from our room, very professional staff, food is delicious at the Flame Restaurant. The room is spacious but is showing its age a little. Would definitely stay here again.

We had our wedding here and spent months coordinating with their team. They were helpful and went above our expectations! The atmosphere in the garden and restaurant was fabulous. Food was delicious and rooms were super comfortable. The staff helped everything run smoothly. Fully recommend it as a venue!

Flames came to the rescue when my original accommodation fell through, literally at the last minute, after driving up all the way from Wellington... they even made sure to turn the heatpump on for us before we arrived late into the night. If I'm ever up that way again, I'll be booking in here! Thanks again, very appreciated!

Awesome i had a surf n turf (special of the day) cooked medium rear . Cooked to perfection! I also had the desert special New York cheesecake, with choc mouse and strawberries! Yum is all i can say melted in my mouth.. excellent waitress , fabulous company we had a blast!

Basic room in stunning garden setting with views right out over the harbour. Everything you need though for a comfortable nights sleep. Great location for accessing many of the tourist spots.

We enjoyed our stay but not on the night that their was a wedding hosted. Room was nice and comfortable and clean but not too soundproof. Note that the room w head was shower over bath, maybe not suited to people with restricted mobility

My Animates Pet store team of 10 and I had dinner and drinks, I'm very well travelled internationally and was amazed by how great the food was, the chef and their team made us feel so special..this is what customer service is about. Every one enjoyed the meals and the deserts, and the wonderful cocktails made by one of the young ladies. Service second to none, food absolutely fantastic. We will do it again. Thank you for making our team bonding night so special.

Overall, not too bad a place to stay but it is so dated now and hasn't got much going. I feel if you were staying off season there is very little to do here. I also think it's slightly overpriced for what you get and again I think that's a tourist trap. The staff were nice and friendly but some were quite young and dint really know much when asked questions. Overall, I don't want to bag this place too much, it's a good place to stay if you are just looking for a pillow to put your head on!

We enjoyed our stay and the room was warm and comfortable. The dinner menu was great and we had excellent service. We loved the view of the pool lit up at night andf the view of the harbour in the morning. My mother loved the seafood dish she had for dinner!

The staff at Flames Comfort are very accommodating, its been a pleasure staying each time. I stay here regularly for work and highly recommend this over others in Whangarei. The rooms have great views over the harbour, there is a great pool area and the restaurant cooks great meals (try the bacon wrapped chicken with pilaf). There are also great conference facilities and the Lava Bar looks like a perfect function area set in the outdoor garden

My husband and I have been here for dinner twice now and we will surely be back again. There is a beautiful island waitress who Is very attentive to our particular needs and has taken excellent care of us both times we have come to dine. Food is great and so is the service. Atmosphere also amazing!

We had a wedding here Nov 2020. Everyone complimented the food and rooms. The rooms are clean and spacious. We have eaten here b4. The function organisation was fabulous and all staff were helpful. Its a spit to the airport and 6 km from town.

Very friendly staff, great service and menu with good selection of dishes at reasonable prices. We had pork ribs and Mediterranean prawns on fettuccine. Both dishes were delicious and good portion sizes.

Had a training course here. Lunch was provided, butter chicken and vegetarian dish with salads and for dessert we had a fruit platter that was lovely.

We come here for dinner on Saturday evening. There was quite a few people here and had a lovely atmosphere. The menu was good and the prices were very reasonable. We enjoyed the food we got and would come back again if we are in the area.

Friendly staff, relaxed dining, quiet and peaceful. Nice view if you have a room looking onto the pool and over to the port. We found the bed a bit saggy which made the pillows feel too high.

Hadn't been to this hotel for years and was pleasantly surprised to find they had new management, a new chef trained in Melbourne with food to die for... the rooms were clean and light and airy... a very enjoyable stay. I even checked out the conference facilities there for future events I have in the pipeline and was even more surprised to see the big professional set up they have there including stage and dance floor! Very versatile for all types of events and happy to accommodate my catering and set up wishes. TOP MARKS FLAMES HOTEL! Very impressed and I will be staying again.

Central Whangarei and my usual place I stay was completely booked out and I found this hotel by chance and it would now be my place of choice when staying again for business in whangarei. Lots of nice amenities and I imagine it would also be a great place for a family holiday.

I was surprised by my visit to flames. It far exceeded my expectations. The prices were lower than expected for the quality. It's a pretty good night when a table of four all love their entrees mains and desserts. Pretty cool to see such a wide variety of gourmet ice creams that can be added to your dessert for just 2.00

Excellent staff manager at front desk, clean beading, good tv , nice and clean but shower head was just to short for us couldn’t have a relaxing shower as the shower was to short for anyone over 5”6.

This hotel is a bare minimum basics kind of place, so bring your own bottle opener! But its great for a nice dinner, a soak in a bath and a relax.

This hotel is clean and the staff are all very helpful. The rooms are being refurbished however still clean and tidy. My pet hate are those horrible top covers that some hotels put on. You know they are not washed and they wrap them round your pillows, NONE OF THAT HERE VERY HAPPY :)

My Husband and I had our wedding at the Flames Hotel Whangarei on 13th October 2018. We booked out the whole hotel from Thursday to Sunday. Tom and his crew were so amazing from day one 9 months ago till the day we departed. Tom is a pleasure to deal with. Nothing was every a problem and he always had a smile and calm manner. It was truly a blessing to have him help us plan our special day. It was the most magical day. He is so accomodating. We highly recommend this hotel. The staff are more than 5 stars. The hotel was amazing 😊 Thanks so much Tom and your crew. 😍

An excellent “choice” for us this trip, lovely staff, very clean & tidy & the most comfortable beds we have found in a long time of travelling. Reastautant menu was very good, food delicious & reasonable prices considering how very expensive NZ has become.

I love it here...staff are brilliant friendly and they remember ..nothing is to small or to big to do. Im here often for business in Whangarei . So its far enough away from town and close enough as well. Dairy,takeaways, bus stops are 100 metres up the road. 2 mins away from Airport and staff are happy to shuttle you. Hats off to the Chef ..love the menu and they must review it regularly ..because its changed in the last 4 months. Scenery and views from the balcony are beautiful. Kei runga noa atu koutou.

We all had a beautiful meal amongst friends in a relaxed environment. Definitely will return in the near future.

Their thai food was quite good and authentic, as they have a thai chef. The lamb shank was also quite enjoyable as were the brownies. Would be 5 stars if they had some fans or air conditioning as it was very warm inside.

Because this was a grabeone deal it was good for the price we paid. The ribs where the worst. Dry. Burgers are good. Summer seafood salad was OK. Seafood cooked perfectly.

We broke our journey for 2 nights in Whangarei and were delighted to discover Flames. For the quality of the hotel and the wonderful personal service we thought it was excellent value. The quality of food in the restaurant is excellent, too.

This was our 3rd visit in a short space of time, which speaks for itself

unfortunately we had to wait almost 80 minutes for our food to come .had to ask after an hour when we might see some food .a suggestion for the staff maybe talk to your customers and maybe a free garlic bread or something would have helped .once the food came it was fine but a very large birthday party made it difficult to hear with the noise .probably give it a miss in future

I have been staying at Flames Comfort Hotel since 2017. I stay there around 2 days each week. Awesome staff and food, comfy beds.

Lovely staff and owner, who upgraded us. The view from our balcony was lovely, bed comfortable and washroom large.

We hired the Lava Bar for a work function. It was a great venue and the management looked after us very well. Food was good and service excellent.

Out of Whangerei, and close to airport, but a comfortable place to stay. Nice walk to seashore. Used pub next door for quick bar meal, though an Indian restaurant was recommended and close.

Enjoyed my night there. The pool was welcome relief. Room was tidy and comfortable. Would stay there again if needing a place in Whangarei.

Excellent, I have enjoyed each stay at the Hotel, I do not want to publish a review as I do not want every other traveler on the planet getting in ahead of me when I wish to stay.

just spent three nights at flames,could not fault the place, food was excellent & well priced, beds good, service was relaxed & friendly,more like a home than hotel.well done.thanks for the stay,will come back.

Excellent evening at Flames. Attended a craft beer tasting with McLeods Brewery from Waipu. Beer was matched with food from Flames. Was perfect. Hope to attend more events of this type in the near future.

Room was good specially bathroom is very spacious. Service was good. Restaurant food was not that great.
