J.Incredible views and cute accommodation! The hosts are friendly and helpful, and the self contained cottage had everything we needed. Pack good walking shoes so you can explore the epic loop track through the bush.

We live in a rural country setting in Auckland so our family is very familiar with free range chooks and welcoming cats and enjoy the privacy of been more isolated. We stayed in the family suite (magnolia suite) and booked using booking.com
We have often found it is important to check the accomodations personal website as it provides much clearer insight into the sleeping arrangements than what booking.com provide. We decided very last minute to visit a sick family member close by and so we did not follow through with our usual booking rituals for this booking, the photos of the stay looked absolutely beautiful so we went ahead and booked anyway. Booking.com does not clearly state that the family suite is a Bed and Breakfast set up! So if you’re after a private setting I don’t recommend using booking.com but to go on the kauri Villas website and select their self contained unit. I’m saying this because I’m not a fan of Bed and Breakfast stays and when i’m in a country style setting I prefer much more privacy. However! I was pleasantly impressed by my experience at Kauri Villas, the charm outweighed my previous expectations. I disagree with some comments about the food been basic, it was a REALLY nice breakfast with great service and presentation. We felt so spoilt, my husband even joked and asked if the owners could come to our place. The amount was plentiful and the scrambled free range eggs were exactly that, organic (fresh lay) a perfectly rich protein breakfast! This place has all the old Villa appeal and the breakfast set up reflected this.
It’s winter and so not the ideal time to be using the swimming pool etc and been a short stay we did not have much of a chance to appreciate the stunning views, so what really got me to the 5 star rating was the games room! Great entertaining space. Extremely well set up for weddings etc. We’ve stayed in various types of accomodation over the years, hotels, air bnb’s, appartments, chalets etc and over the years of having children we realise it’s never a 5 star anywhere for us unless it’s family friendly. Simple things like a box of toys! This is located in the games room. But what was extra special about this family friendly stay, is that often our 12 year old has only the tv or a device for entertainment. Here it was plentiful with preteen/teen/adult entertainment, she learnt to play pool on the pool table, absolutely fantastic *****
Overview:
Facilities in the suite- Bed & Breakfast facility. No microwave in suites to warm baby bottles etc although friendly owners allowed use of their microwave to warm a bottle. No Kitchenette, just tea making facilities and a beer fridge. Spacious lounge area, comfortable couch, plenty of blankets, single sofa bed in area (perfect for our toddler) Private lounge has a closed off door to the Bed & Breakfast area, so can hear the noises of both spaces, but this did not cause us any bother, the self container units would be a better option if you are sensitive to this.
Entertainment- Great indoor/outdoor entertainment for all ages! SKY!! Hubby very happy watching the 1st test of New Zealand vs Australia rugby game and children were entertained by kids sky channels on a good sized TV screen. Also, there was the option to ask owners for a Chromecast device. Good FREE wifi was available.
Bathroom- small, no bath, no windows but a fan. Very good shower with detachable head.
Bedrooms- Room 1- Queen bed- comfortable good quality linen, soft mattress but very comfortable. Heating adequate. No ceiling fans or a/c
Room 2- good quality linen, x2 very comfortable single beds, adjoins in between private lounge area and Room 1 in suite. No heating in this room, however it was a small room and my daughters commented on how warm the bedding was.
Accessibility- very adequate and was able to park easily right next to the suite. Turnaround driveway.
Would definitely stay again!

M.Highly recommend this place. We loved our stay with them. Served breakfast by our host was up star ratings, very fresh and homemade. My son loves to play with sheep and Milly (cat). Definitely come back and visiting again. All the best!!
L.Spent a night here while road tripping through the North Island. Beautiful scenic views from the pool & spa. The villa we stayed in was the perfect size, comfy beds with a nice cool breeze for a hot summers night. Would defs come back again 😊😊
m.ABSOLUTELY PHENOMINAL! Such an idyllic little heritage home B & B nestled In a quiet little spot amongst nature with the most beautiful views over looking Parua bay , truly serene and just pure bliss. Their colonial suit is truly stunning with amazing vintage decor and original furnishings, which did not effect the shower pressure at all(best shower I have ever had at any motel/hotel). The beds were super comfortable and the standard of customer service at kauri is absolutely exceptional! They make you feel so welcome and just like your at home. They also make the best poached eggs I have ever had along with fresh locally grown produce to offer. Highly highly HIGHLY recommend Kauri villas to anyone wanting to head north for a relaxing get away. Cannot wait to come back for a longer stay Kauri ❤❤

L.Pauline did the most amazing job with hosting/organising my wedding at the end of March 2020 where we choose the intimate package. She made the whole process super easy and was very helpful with liaising with local suppliers on our behalf as I was not from the area. The day went smoothly and was everything we dreamed we wanted. All of our guests stayed onsite and thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Kauri Villas even provided a cooked breakfast in the morning for all the guests that added a special touch for the guests. Would 100% recommend to anyone who is wishing to tie the knot and have an intimate style wedding or even a weekend getaway from home!!

C.Stunning piece of paradise with exceptional customer relations from the hosts. The rooms are spacious with large comfortable beds. The meals were superb, having pork belly for dinner and eggs benedict for breakfast. Both meals were of top quality restaurant standard! T.Stayed one night in March. family of 6. Had 2 apartments. Very spacious, most of the rooms were very large. Beautifully appointed. Delightful decorative touches especially in the living rooms. Lovely bed linen. Kids got to feed the sheep and chicks in the morning. We wish the new owners much luck. Highly recommended. Free wifi.

Colleen and Pauline were great hosts, definitely going out of their way to make the stay great. A real highlight of our stay in Northland. A great base to explore the Whangarei Heads area. M.Wonderful location and views surround this beautifully looked after cottage. A relaxed and peaceful atmosphere make this a great place to unwind. There are sheep and chickens in the fields, a lovely pool and spa, and a games room with pool table, fussball and table tennis.
