Awesome service. I commend every single member of the team for the professionalism, friendliness and courtesy they showed me. Excellent clinical result - Dr Adam Watson is truly an optical wizard. My husband will be following my lead in a year or so, and I ever need eye-related medical input again I will not even contemplate going to anyone else.

11Jan22 1604 Tuesday afternoon and it's quiet in the Eye Institute waiting area. Two reception desks are well organised by receptionists .. cheerful, efficient and helpful. Lot's of drop off vehicle space at the front. Very clean and well lit premises with all the appropriate COVID-19 QR codes, signage and hand sanitiser. Highly recommend these facilities.

Life changing experience! Highly recommended. Had LASIK done last March at Eye Institute. Dr. Watson and his team (Catherine, Kieran and all the nurses) took care of me from day 1. They explained what the procedure is and have been very accommodating in answering all of my questions. On the day of the procedure, I was feeling extremely anxious but never did I felt I was alone, everyone (from the reception up to the post-procedure care) was there for me. They made me comfortable and reassured me about it. They are highly skilled and trained to deal with patients like me. :) The whole procedure was really quick. Dr. Watson and all the nurses/team explained every step. Thank you so much Dr. Watson and the team. It was indeed one of the best decisions ever!

I had Trifocal multifocal lens inplants done recently by Doctor Adam Watson. Which has given me good uncorrected distance vision as well as useful range of near vision with no dependence on glasses. I've thrown away my multi-focal glasses for good and have 20/20 vision again after 20 years of on-going deterioration of close, mid and distant vision. Dr Shanu Subbiah and his team are were very caring, informative and professional every step of the way. The surgery was quick and painless (I didn't even need any sedation - although it was available if I needed it - because they explained everything to me every step of the way and I never felt the slightest anxiety). One of the unexpected benefits is that I notice I move more confidently in my body now due to my peripheral vision being restored - my proprioception has improved so that all the muscles which were subconsciously tense and alert have relaxed and I feel more vital and present in my body. If you have concerns regarding your eyesight I highly recommend you get a consult from Dr Subbiah and his team who will always have my deep gratitude for taking such good care of me and making a huge difference to my quality of life.

The whole very short journey was pleasant and exciting experience. Dr Adam Watsons team showed understanding, kindness and was very accommodating. I suffer from acute anxiety disorder and had told Catherine, who did most of my consultation side of things. She assured me that there’s nothing to worry. She had all other teams up to speed in regards to my anxiety and were well prepared for me on the day just in case I did have my anxiety. To my shocking surprise I had no anxiety episode during my procedure(which isn’t normal for me), what helped me the most in order to stay calm and relaxed was Dr Adam Watsons soothing & kind voice behind me during the procedure but the whole procedure itself was super quick. I had surgery with Dr Watson for refractive lens exchange end of September. He had said I was a good candidate for the multi-focal lenses which should allow me to once again be able to read, do computer work without having to wear glasses. This has definitely been the case and although my brain is I think still adjusting for some things, I am very very happy with my outcome.

Surgery carried out at Eye Institute to remove cataracts & correct stigmatism in both eyes. The intended procedure was well explained prior to surgery. My impression is that success of the process relies upon the collective efforts of a team starting with assessment & measurement by Senior Opthalmic Technician Catherine, the anaesthetist who ensured I was comfortable during surgery & Dr. Watson. Colours now appear brighter, objects sharper & night driving safe. Overall an excellent outcome. Thanks to all involved.

I came to Dr Adam Watson earlier in the year and had Lasik surgery after experiencing chronic dry eyes due to contact use/intolerance. It was so bad I would get double vision, my eyes would sting constantly and I was using drops or ointments up to 20 times a day. After receiving the surgery my eye sight was better than 20/20 (it was pretty bad before hand). My dry eyes have gone away and it has given me much more freedom to do the things I love like surfing without having to worry about contacts or the constant discomfort they had caused me. Getting Lasik surgery was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The team at the eye institute including Catherine Cruz Dr Watson's Ophthalmic Technician were so lovely and awesome to deal with it genuinely made it an amazing experience. Professional and friendly staff made the consultation process informative and easy. Dr Dean Corbett was professional and to the point just as I like things. The result from Lasik in both eyes is actually life changing corny is that sounds. The only caveat, after surgery the pain is pretty grim so suggest take a sleeping pill two hours after you get home and the next morning you'll wake to no pain only irritation. Follow the doctors advice and two weeks later you'll be so happy with the result. Best money I ever spent & no more fumbling around in the light for me

Having had previous eye surgery I was petrified and hesitant to have lasik surgery to fix my eye sight. After 12 years of wearing contacts and feeling discomfort from them rubbing on a graft in my eye (from a previous surgery elsewhere), I finally had enough and thought I would look into laser correction. What a great result thank you to Dr Adam Watson and his highly professional team. I had my refractive lens replacements on both eyes exactly 3 weeks ago and my experience was EXCEPTIONAL. All of your team were highly professional, but also friendly and caring. Adam was excellent to work with and instilled me with confidence and my results are outstanding. Being a multi-focal contact lenses wearer for many years, I was amazed that suddenly my distance vision was immediately better than with contacts. My close and medium vision is also far better than with contacts and I can now thread a needle with no assistance - I now have 20/20 vision. WOW. Today I finish my eye drops which is another milestone. The procedure was painless with no post operative pain, and the procedure was fine, I was not aware of any scary instruments coming towards my eye. I did have some minor "fogginess" in the first week which they reassured me was normal. That is now gone. I was able to drive with confidence the following day. Thank you Adam and also thank you to Catherine Cruz who went beyond the call of duty to help me with a transportation issue and was very good at explaining and answering questions. I could not speak more highly about my experience with Dr Mantell and his team at Eye Institute. From the initial consultation to the procedure itself to the post-surgery appointments, the entire experience was amazing. The staff were incredible and reassuring, and the procedure was so quick and absolute painless, and waking up the next morning and being able to see clearly without glasses or contacts for the first time I can remember in my life was unbelievable. The Doctor that operated on my eyes isn’t listed Dr Larusch on the website but I really recommend getting Lasiks with the Remuera Road location. I have had glasses since 15 and had the operation done at 43. Such a good idea and glad I did. I can see the ball coming when batting in cricket and as a Tailor I only suffered minor inconvenience when threading needles. The support team were excellent, nurses and administrative staff.

I was referred by my friend who is a theatre nurse in remuera eye institute. She referred me to Dr. Adam Watson because she reckons he is the best doctor. So i booked an appointment with him, had my eyes checked 3 weeks ago and im a good candidate for SMILE surgery which is the newest and advanced eye laser surgery. I was honestly pretty darn nervous leading up to the procedure but the team quickly put me at ease. They are incredibly professional and reassuring every step of the way. At no point of my procedure, pre-check up and aftercare did I felt unsure. They explain everything thoroughly and were very lovely to deal with. If you are considering going through with laser eye surgery, do it! I absolutely have no regrets. Whilst the surgery isn't the most comfortable of things to go through, there wasn't any pain. I slept for the rest of the afternoon and by the next morning I had better than 20/20 vision! For the first few days I had a bit of light sensitivity and then a couple of weeks of dry-eye (drops that they give you manage everything), otherwise no complications. Now I'm absolutely loving life without putting in contacts every day and would highly recommend the procedure and Dr Mantells team to anyone :)

Dr Adam Watson and his team have changed my life forever; I honestly cannot recommend them enough. From the education prior to LASIK surgery, the support during and the care afterwards has blown my mind. I was a bit anxious and scared going in but one of the nurses held my hand when I was feeling this way, it wasn't painful at all! I was just legitimately a wuss! But for 10 minutes of slight discomfort i gained so, so much. I can now see the stars at night and see how beautiful individual leaves on trees are, I caught an item for the first time in my life because I could see the depth of where it was, I can open a dishwasher and see the dishes, driving at night is easy, I can walk outside from being cold to a warm inside and still see, I have moved my conditioner and shampoo bottle around in the shower for the first time in 22 years because I can read what the label says (instead of shampoo or on the left, conditioner on the right), I can pluck my eyebrows properly, I can apply makeup with ease, I dropped an earring and found it easily, I literally just wake up in the morning and see. I strongly urge you to even just book the consultation, Dr Watson and his team are NOT like used car salesman and won't talk you into anything if it's not what you want! The only downside is I've lost my glasses to hide behind so my poker face needs to be worked on, people don't recognize me anymore (could be a bonus), I realised how rubbish at vacuuming and cleaning my bathroom I really was and you might get dry eyes for a bit after the surgery but the aftercare from the team is amazing. Thank you so much Dr Watson and team again, 20/20 vision is more than I ever expected.

I got lasik eye surgery just over a week ago with Trevor Gray and I'm so happy with the results. The procedure was painless and over in 10 minutes. The staff are so friendly and caring and really know their stuff. After the procedure your eyes will start to feel really gritty so i recommend having an early night so it doesnt bother you, when I awoke the next day they felt fine. A bit blurry in the morning. But I ended up spending the whole next day at the viaduct in the sun. So there was no recovery period for me. Just have some dark shades ready for following week as you will be sensitive to light (I have worn these at work sometimes too as our office is bright). My eyes were bloodshot for a couple of days and if you take your eye drops every 2 hours they don't feel dry. My problem now is to remember to take them because they feel fine. I have felt tired the last week so I recommend making sure to get some good sleep. You really need someone with you for the whole thing for support and to guide you after the procedure on the day because I just wanted to close my eyes. If you're from out of town and booking a second night at your own expense I recommend booking the second night in the city as there's nothing to do around the eye clinic and you will find nicer accommodation in the city. I am extremely happy with the results. I have better than 20/20 vision now, everything looks more vibrant. It's the best money you will ever spend. I actually think it's a bargain now that I've had it done when I compare it to a holiday or a car, I benefit from this everyday, and I already feel more confident and happy knowing I don't have to hide behind my glasses anymore. Don't hesitate you deserve quality vision and nothing less! Life is too short :) I only wish I got this done 10 years ago.

Team Gray All The Way!!! 35yo/Male Considered Lasik: 10yrs - booked in 7yrs ago, but ‘pussied-out’ Surgeon: Dr. Trevor Gray + Team (Truly a Team-effort) Pre-Prescription: Right | -1.75 myopia w/ 3.75 astigmatism. Left | -0.5 myopia w/ 4.25 astigmatism. I had a HEAP of astigmatism, which ultimately left me living in some form of 'Blur' even with glasses/contacts. For me, the risks of surgery far outweighed the potential to live the rest of my life as a 'Blur'. It’s technically classed as 'Cosmetic Surgery', but with 35yrs bad eye-sight, to me it was a serious medical surgery. My decision not made lightly, but an effort to gain better quality of life. I wore RGP lenses for 7yrs, which gave me best vision vs soft CL/specs, but I could not surf etc in them, comfort probs in dusty environments, $$$ in solutions, ultimately leading to lesser quality of life, & I couldn't do the things I loved. I had to stop wearing the hard lenses and revert to glasses for 6weeks prior to final surgery. I saw Dr.Grays Team to get a 2nd opinion, after seeing Google reviews, where Dr.Grays name came up over and over with praise from patients. I went to a convenient late-night-Wednesday appointment(brilliant idea), the moment I walked in the door I was being called by my first name, the facilities, reception, toilets, waiting room, staff service is just impeccable! – After that, I cancelled my future appointments with ‘another’ facility, as I decided there and then that I was going to be pursuing the process with Dr.Grays Team at Eye Institute. 5-stars is just not enough... Eye Institute w/Dr.Gray and his Team(Dr. Grey, Frances, Nick, Kyomi, Sam) exceeded all expectations! Best described as ‘5-star hotel service’, everything is professional, and the best medical treatment I have ever experienced. I recommend getting the ‘happy-pill’(Diazepam), it kicks in quickly, and relaxes you. The actual procedure is NOTHING! No pain/discomfort, just a ‘Bizzare’ experience. Over in a short +/-10mins – Walking into surgery, you are greeted by the whole Dr.Gray Team with familiar reassuring voices. My wife got a dedicated viewing room w/After-care optometrist Nick who stood right beside her, explaining the process step-by-step the whole way - That’s service! After, you sit with Nick for 30mins, putting drops in, and inform you on what to expect overnight, do’s/don’ts, post-op info, incl home/mobile numbers for the surgeon and other staff, which is just unheard of! I kept my eyes shut for 17hrs straight until the next day, where I was signed-off to drive, I could definitely see without my contacts/glasses, but it wasn’t until Day 4 when things became much clearer, normal for my High prescription in astigmatism. After-care is amazing, appointments day1/1week/1month/3month, in cases like mine, there is a possibility re-treatment required(own decision) if there is residual prescription – but is not tested until 3-month mark, after all has ‘stabilized’. My result on paper w/both eyes is 20/20, although one eye is stronger than the other, nothing to do with the skills/equipment used, you just have to to compare to how you have always seen, in my case one eye weaker than other, in fact I can see 1-line better than I have ever seen w/ glasses/contacts. Experience with ‘side-effects’ has been good; Night –I have seen the best I have seen at night ever, and has heightened my confidence w/night driving, Halos– Yes, I get them, but very minimal, and very bearable, in fact I used to get worse ones with my RGP contacts. Dry-eye – Yes, to be expected, as you are well warned. It has got better over the last 2weeks, but easily managed with drops So far, the best thing I’ve ever done, and I cannot wait to get out surfing/biking/swimming without having to take rigid lenses out and putting soft ones in, as its already made a huge difference to everyday life, and at work. For me, it is absolutely life changing – and I really hope the ‘Gray Team’ never once take it for granted that they change people’s lives on a daily basis!
