Having been here in Tauranga for about a year, I had been struggling to finding an expert in the field when it came to keratoconus. I had been using soft lenses for 4 years and had been spending time testing trial after trial with no luck in finding the right lenses that gave me good comfort as well as vision. Through word of mouth someone recommended Alex at Bay Eye Care and my luck changed he thoroughly examined my eyes and gave me great advice, being an allergy sufferer he recommended scleral hard lenses for my eyes. After around a week to adjust my eyes now have not only got the vision that I was looking for but also the comfort. Alex also helped me treat my allergies by recommending products which have almost rid my eyes of any irritations. I would highly recommended Bay Eye Care to anyone with any problems they are having in solving eye issues including keratoconus, but also those who suffer greatly with allergies that affect the eyes.

I have recently moved from Christchurch to the Bay of Plenty. I was due for a full eye examination and was referred to Bay Eye Care by a family member. The examination I received from Alex was incredibly thorough and his professionalism was first class. I have, for the first time, been given a full explanation of the various procedures undertaken and received a complete diagnosis of my eye health. I now feel comfortable that in future any deterioration my eyesight will be diagnosed early allowing appropriate correctional procedures to take place promptly. Alex has recently treated me for dry eye disease using IPL treatment. I wish I had known about this treatment earlier! After several years of frequently experiencing debilitating dry, burning, smarting eyes, I felt relief from the first of the three sessions, and have continued to do so, that even though I have only just finished the series of three treatments, I am feeling very hopeful of feeling the benefits for a good while. I can now drive the car without worrying about my eyes - freedom -- fantastic! Highly recommend.

This resulted in damage to the Iris, lens and retina and required two operations. Alex has measrured, discussed, ordered and fitted a special lens which has restored focus to my eye.
