E.We stopped here on route between two Top 10 campsites whilst touring in New Zealand.
Initially we only stopped for a quick look round, but the pub, bar, restaurant offered an excellent choice so we decided to indulge ourselves. Following which we investigated the indoor mine shaft, the local post office, telephone box and school building, all of which were from a different era.
A good find and definitely recommended 👍

A.I couldn't believe my eyes that I would find pork dumplings in the middle of abandoned gold mine. Also, the trinkets and stuff within the shop are all so lovely. It's absolutely gold!
V.Nice place to spend time with family. Great and scenic spots. If you are doing trails then worth it.
G.Tutorial was great on how to gold pan but instructions on where to go along the river was very vague. Luckily a local helped us to some decent spots.

C.(Translated) Arrowtown is a small town located on Highway 6. Arrowtown is also located about 20 kilometers northeast of Queenstown. After the discovery of gold in the Arrow River in Arrowtown in 1862, it triggered a gold rush, and a steady stream of gold diggers gathered here to form a settlement. The appearance of the buildings on the street has a similar feeling, much like the houses of the pioneer period in the western United States. Going to the bank of the river, there is a Chinese Settlement, which is the village where the Chinese people who came to Arrowtown for gold in the 19th century gathered. The most beautiful season in Arrowtown is every autumn until the end of April and the beginning of May, when golden leaves hang all over the hill. This time of year is also the annual Autumn Carnival in Arrowtown, where residents and tourists from all over the town will flock to the streets to celebrate. Visited on 2012/02.
