Good for a local pool but still. This has been a great local pool but it always is quite disappointing as it only has two pools. I would highly recommend going to Glenfield pools as it's a five min drive and has much better facility's.

Amazing pool. It’s nice and warm plus as it’s outdoors even on really hot days it’s not too busy. Staff are also really friendly.

Love Birkenhead pools. So refreshing on a hot day, clean pool and water, wasnt too busy on a hot day after school, will come again :)

we came to cool down as it was so hot, glad it has a bigger pool.. better to come in the morning as it gets crowded in the afternoon.. it is expensive for adults to pay $7.20 to swim, to accompany a 5 year old.. this place is nice though, and clean.

Quite huge centre that you can enjoy the rock climbing! The staff are very kindly teach you if you’re first time in climbing :) It also has a student discount!

Pretty good outdoor swimming pool. Great for summer. Sometimes is quite busy on the weekends with the kids and families but it’s great anyway. They also have a gym on site and an indoor rock climbing, which is awesome and not expensive at all. Everyone is welcoming. Really recommend this place. Especially during summer.

After the pool got repainted a few weeks ago it is just stellar here! Cant wait for full blown summer.

Great rock climbing area and pools. Kids loved every moment and it was great to be able to go swimming after their rock climbing session.

Best pool in the area (33m). Really warm (26) and always plenty of lanes for training. Little kids pool inside also popular and v well heated for the ones.

Since we've all been here, we were able to pay the affordable price, get a harness, and walk right in again. No wait once you're through w that initial initiation. Walls are quite well maintained and with a good variety of difficulties. I've heard they also have a heated pool, weight gym, and other areas too. Overall, great place to teach kids over 7 how to start climbing and just go to unwind.

Great place with a freshly repainted pool and an indoor rock climbing gym and a regular gym. Staff is really nice, the place is clean and tidy albeit not the most modern or fancy. Great place to work out or boulder. Open air pool is open all year round.

Great gym. Has access to pools, climbing walls and a full suite of gym and exercise equipment. The staff are fantastic. They're all very friendly and personable and always willing to help, give you some advice or just spin a yarn. I highly rate Birkenhead leisure centre and I would reccomend anyone giving it a try! (PS the climbing wall is super new and nice and clean)

Heated outdoor pool, it's a pretty standard affair. Indoor kids pool, very hot and quite crowded. Changing rooms are well maintained but are really really old, with insufficient changing space, and not enough shower stalls.

Too many lanes for swimmers (4) on a hot day. Not enough space for fun swimmers. Lane swimmers need to be restricted to morning and according to numbers.

Went rock climbing today for the first time in ages. The walls were pretty good with a range of difficulties available. Equipment was nice and in good condition. Prices are good and they offer wire cheap memberships with or without pools/gym included. Not the biggest walls in Auckland but the most convenient for me and fortunately adequate. Heaps of serious overhangs for advanced climbers. Well worth a visit and I'll be back very soon.

Great facility for rock climbing! Caters for all levels of fitness, brilliant induction process for first time users. Highly recommend this for group activities 😊

You really need to get a check in at the pool. Waited over 10 minutes while someone dealt with an issue. I just want to swipe my card and swim like other North Shore pools.

Went rock climbing with a friend last week here. There are several rock walls to climb - and some are very advanced. Definitely challenging enough to be fun for us (18yr olds)! Instructor was friendly & gave a thorough run through at the beginning. TIP: Give them a call first to check if they are open!! Website was wrong the first time we went.

I used to rock climb here every week, they have some great walls. While a few other people seem to be complaining about the service I thoroughly enjoyed being left alone to do what i wanted to without being pestured by staff walking around and watching me.

Many activities to do here, kids played on the playground while I ran around the track. They also enjoyed the heated kids pool and the BMX track.

Update April/2019: climbing wall is finally open ;) Friendly staff but not having a covered pool in winter is a not that great. Also the climbing wall has been closed for ages now and no idea when will open.
