Sadly due to COVID there are not many butterflies, I think I counted 5? At the time. Definitely room for improvement, some displays had nothing and they could provide more information about the animals with better displays and more ‘interactions’. We enjoyed feeding the animals the train and the dragon / dinosaur / unicorn displays. Wish there were more staff around to help take photos of my son and I. The iguana was very cool! Beautiful glasshouse with plants. As an indoor plant enthusiast, maybe you could try growing rare pants in there? That would be amazing!!!!

Great place to bring the kids or to come on a date or just to visit in general, the encounters are great fun and awesome to see and you learn a bit too, the staff are super friendly. Plenty of parking as well. You can spend the entire day here with just looking around to going and seeing the farm animals and also they have a great cafe on site too! Def recommend coming here if you’re looking for something to do!

We really like visiting butterfly Creek 🦋 ❤ especially our kids they really enjoyed exploring the whole places as there so many things to do for kids they get see experience a tour guide by friendly staff on how Alligator are being fed. Kids get to see different kinds of insects, Butterflies also habitat of Kiwi home. We get to captured beautifull pics with Dinosaurs 🦕,Egyptians sts, 🦄, and the fun part kids love going short Train Ride as well as getting opportunity to feed the farm animals like 🐐, 🐔, and other farm Animals but most of Animals may be due to hot sunny day they like to hide and take shed so we are unable to feed them. But kids has and awesome time pamperring their favourite Animal Fluffy Rabbit. I would highly recommend others to visit this nice places your whole family will loved it :) It would be best if you pack your own snacks or sandwich 🥪 😉 and bring own water bottle to keep u going and side by side enjoy the scenic beauty of Butterfly Creek . As a family we all had a fabulous day ❤

It was quite a nice place to spend the morning. We came by late in the morning and noticed that we had missed some of the animal encounters already. The parking lot is quite big and shares with rocket ropes beside it. It was fairly busy but there was plenty of parking particularly away from the main entrance. This is probably where the annual pass comes in handy. We started in the aquarium area just by the ticket counter. They had a few tanks with a myriad of different fish. The next part was the butterfly enclosure. It was quite fun trying to find the different butterflies as they flew around. We followed the map to the different areas of the zoo. After the animals came the Dinosaur Kingdom. This was quite interesting to walk through with all the dinosaurs moving about and making sounds. The mythical creature display was in the building near this area too. The dinosaur kingdom ended by the train station, which is beside the cafe. There was also another area that went to Buttermilk Farm. The barn had animals that were pettable. There was also an aviary and other farm animals around like goats and alpacas. One of the animal encounter that we went to was the crocodile feeding. That was quite an interesting experience watching the croc feeding in close quarters. I can see why this is the most popular encounter. The outdoor area by the playground was a nice place to have lunch. There was sufficient cover under the tables so that you didn't get burnt. There are also toilets in this area. We grabbed some food from the cafe and enjoyed it outside. We then went on the train. This was quite a nice ride going around the entire place twice. This was a nice place to spend a day with kids of all ages. Take a look at the timetable to see if there is a specific animal encounter that you'd be interested in.

Had an awesome time here! Heaps to do and shows to see with the animals if you choose too. The only improvement suggestion I have is to have seperate lines to enter the 'barn' and to buy the food pellets. Because there's a limit of 10 max in the barn at any time to pet the animals in there and you can only get the food pellets in the barn- we had to wait in the line no for 30mins with people waiting to go and pet the animals in there and all we wanted was some bags of food. Other than that - great day!!!

Nice place to visit, especially with kids. But encounters are not on time. Had to wait 10min for Reptile encounter but no one showed up. I asked to someone on reception and the encounter wasn't cancelled. Too confusing

Such a cool place with a variety of activities and displays for children and adults to do. There were really cool dinosaur sculptures, animal encounters, the butterfly house, farm animals you can pet, a café, gift shop, a courtyard, playground and party rooms you can hire. A really great place to spend some whanau time.

Way better than expected. A++ I see other reviewers saying there aren't alot of butterflies around at the moment. We saw plenty and one actually landed on my son's head which was a highlight. We spent many hours here without getting bored and went to most of the encounters with the animals at set times. Watching the crocodile have lunch was amazing and not something I thought we'd get to see in NZ. The train ride was fun too.

Great place for young family educational adventure, children will enjoy walking through passageways/doorways viewing different areas. There are butterflies, alligator, crocodiles, kiwis, insects, spiders a petting zoo, dinosaurs, a short train ride, there's a lot for kids to enjoy for all ages. When you need to feed the family there is a cafeteria/eatery and covered dining area if you want to take your own lunch.

Was so massive, heaps to explore. . Had kid stuff too which is awesome. Cafe had wide variety of food and drinks. . Why alcohol could not be served in the afternoon - i don't know. Go when it is open 🙂🙃

Really great day out for the whole family. Don't be fooled by the name, there is much more here than butterflies... Cotton top monkeys, crocodiles and alligators, spiders, otters, fish, eels, dinosaurs, unicorns, playground, train, cafe and a bunch more. Train ride should be included in the entry and chips should come with sauce at the cafe. Both come across like a tacky cash grab.

Great place for family and friends. When here in 2019 and amazing animals . See eels and kiwi 🐦. The Weather was perfect and not lots of people at the park. Must visit place if you are around town.

Great place for a family outing, especially if there are dinosaur lovers. We especially enjoyed seeing the butterflies and crocodiles (just coz they are a bit more uncommon). Loved the variety of displays too. The shaded spaces are great for a sunny day.

Had a lovely day out there a week ago. They have two crocodiles. Good views. Nice and lovely farm. Quite. Let me hold their pets also did pet hourses, alpacas goats, butterflies etc. :з would recommend

Fun for the young family but feels a little underwhelmed by the content. The barn is great but there aren't much petting for the kids. Great to see the goat milking in action though. Butterfly rooms are great but overly hot during summer and the number of dead butterfly in the water was a little upsetting. The animals there were great and full of energy. It's definitely worth going maybe once a year for family with young children.

First time here. Walked in to reception and the lovely worker behind the desk was ever so helpful, well mannered and friendly to approach. Venue: well maintained.. ground staff were very helpful and approachable! Plenty of things to see and so like feed animals, look at animals, train ride and much more. Cafe on grounds with reasonable prices! Overall we enjoyed our time and will be taking my 17month old back again.

It's a good fun place to kids, but it does cost adults a bit to please them. Not only butterfly, also there are animals like a small zoo. Plus machine dinosaurs, train and physical activities, kids and you can spend the entire day having fun together. Onsite restaurant is not bad.

Very good experience at Butterfly Creek. All facilities nice and clean and in working order. Cant wait for the meerkat and porcupine experience. Only fault I could find was the baby changing room door lock did not work.

Loved this trip! We took a group of 50 children. The venue was organised and welcoming! We split the children into smaller groups and took them wandering around. They have a good outdoor eating area with shade. Kids loved the animals, dino displays and butterflies. Some smaller children were a little frightened by the dinosaurs, but nothing a good cuddle wouldn't fix. Highly recommend!

A fun place for kids with many enjoyable experiences.

Kids loved it, the 2 hours we allocated was just not enough to get through everything.

It's good but small. Friendly staff. Good couple of hours spent there. Beware the butterfly enclosure is hot and humid. Oh it also had the best kiwi viewing I have seen. Recommend

Great spot to take the kids. Not many butterfly's around. Enclosures and animals seem well looked after despite what I heard before coming to see for myself. The cafe food was amazing. excellent quality of food compared to other places we visited with the same prices.

A delightful place for young and old. Perfect for families with young children. Loved the moving, roaring dinosaurs! The baby goat was full of fun.

Lovely place to take kids. It's like a mini zoo, great place for all age groups. Farm animals, reptiles, imaginary creatures, butterflies etc all hv different adaptational habitats.

What a great place!! Starts with a therapeutic butterfly 🦋 experience. It feels so peaceful to just look them peacefully fly infront of your eyes. Then onto some HUGE crocodiles. I still can't believe I watched a Kiwi bird as LONG as I want. Kids just love the dino park. The farm experience with goats and rabbits is amazing too. Best part is, you can touch and pet them.

The adventure began as we walked like a caterpillar through the foyer and entrance and the day metamorphasised into a colourful delight , as we moved with wings through through the exhibits.

Third time going to Butterfly Creek staff is friendly animals are well taken care of and entertaining the train ride is a must for little ones the food is delightful and the playground is a massive plus when you wanting to eat lunch

Awesome place for the kids. Really enjoyed it. There is alot more to it than my photos but I like lizards. The staff are very friendly and display superb customer service, specially the guy in the rabbit enclosure.

Nice attraction for kids and adults. I found adult ticket bit pricey. Train ride is extra but kids enjoy that. Sectiond we enjoyed were farm animals, crocdile feed and drangon kingdom. Cafe is good.

Had so much fun visiting this epic venue. Kids and kids-at-heart will definitely enjoy a day out at this awesome place. Meet up with dinosaurs of different sizes. Close up encounters with certain animals. Have witnessed ‘Goldie’ the saltwater crocodile while he’s having lunch. Say hi to butterflies and other insects. Museums. Face painting. Finally, wrap up your visit with a meal at their café or check out their souvenir shop before leaving.

First time here. Father and son (7) day trip. Son loved it. Had a great time. Pretty similar to farms around Auckland, just without the dinosaurs. Would recommend to do it once... Unsure if I'd go back... Fun family trip out. Reasonably priced imo.

Amazing value for money, so much to do and see! Can feed the farm animals for 50c a bag and the dinosaurs etc are so cool! The otters - sooooooooo cute!!!

Really cool place, kids loved the dinosaur's and the crocodiles. Unfortunately we didn't see many butterfly's but the ones we did see were really cool. Price is quite high for what it on offer.

Enjoyed it very much. A little more animation with the dinosaurs would have been great. Really give that sense if "arrgghh". Louder would be great. More interactive things would be great. Example, set up things to play with as they "read" or listen. Needs a little more good technology for this. Overall good for 1yr olds to 8 yr olds.

Fun place to spend an afternoon with small kids. It could use a good cleaning of the displays, and kind of confused about all of the fake cows in random places. Overall it was a nice time and my little ones had fun which is the most important thing.

It's a nice experience if you have bored kids at home. In terms of value for money, it's questionable. If you're into butterflies, you'll probably be disappointed. However, is a nice change of scenery. Food and drinks are really overpriced, I recommend you bring snacks.

It was such a great experience for my 2yr old LO...very fantastic place to visit. My son was all eyes from croc feeding all the way to dino and train ride. We dont see much of butterfly and that area still under renovation. Lots of parking outside.

We last went in 2016, it is encouraging to see that they are putting a little bit of money back into making new attractions. The more you do that, the more repeat business you will get. Was a good day. The only thing that would be better to see is a bit of improvement in the food department. It is very much fried stuff or a bit of cabinet food. They used to have a proper restaurant. Shame you can’t get a bit better quality options. Car parking pretty good, but fills up very quick!

It's an excellent place to visit once or twice to allow children to touch goats and rabbits, play in the playground, see butterflies and other animals closely. The cafe has friendly staff. We ordered lamb gourmet wrap, which wasn't right. Please see the attached photo. It had fat attached to smelling meat. The other orders were excellent. BTW, the cafe does not offer order discount on KT membership. Animal food purchase can't offer spare change or EFTPOS. So if you don't have 50c for a bag of food, then you have to think about it. Overall, it's a nice place to spend 1-2 hours with kids.

Butterfly Creek visit was outstanding . Thoroughly enjoyable and educational for children. Staff were great and value for money it is unbeatable hours of entertainment.

We only visited the farm section, as baby wouldn't appreciate the additional attractions yet. It was a very quick visit, much shorter than we expected. Baby enjoyed the pigs, goats, alpacas, sheep, bunnies and variety of birds. The train is a nice add-on. Considering the entrance fee, we might opt for the Auckland zoo for a future day out.

Much enjoyed the butterfly house, crocodiles, otters and petting zoo. Didn't use the cafe; small gift shop mostly geared towards children. Felt the price was a little steep ($28 per adult) but really wanted to see a butterfly house.

Great spot to hang out at while waiting to pick up people from the airport. Enjoyed the dinosaur park, watching the eel feeding was icky but interesting. Liked petting some of the animals. Wish there were more butterflies. The the cafe closed at 3pm which I thought was odd and was very "meh".

Cute place. Busy place. Great place for kids, especially younger children. In some places it is a bit loud and difficult to hear the staff explain things but for the most part it is well laid out. Half this venue is indoors, while half this venue is outdoors. Plan accordingly. I personally like the butterfly area and the outdoor farm area.

Lovely way to spend a couple hours. Variety and kids love it. Dinos large and small. Mini train ride. Aviary. Pet farm animals. Watch a croc leap for his feed. Asian otters at play. Even if layed over at airport. Just a cool walk away.

This a compact but very explorable site, especially if you have young children. There is a little something for all, from a animatronic dinosaurs to live crocodiles; unicorns to live kiwis; otters; and of course butterflies.The site is set out in such a way that it is buggy and wheelchair friendly. There is a small petting farm where kids can interact with rabbits, turtles and a few rats. The big draw for adults would be the kiwis, which are notoriously shy, buy I was able to view one quite closely, and all on my own. Top tip here is go get the early tickets and see one whilst it's still quiet. (Plus they are half price.) There is a coffee shop and fully licenced restaurant. They cater for parties and school trips. So if you have kids, and are a big kid at heart, this place is worth a visit. For little ones the train journey round the park is worth the $4

Heaps to see and do. I had as much fun as the grandkids. It's a luck of the draw for the feeding times but hopefully next time we're there to see the Crocs being fed. The kids loved the dinosaur and mythical beast enclosures

Great place to visit with kids! We saw feeding time with Goldie the Croc. I was impressed that there were benches available in 2 heights - kids and adults The dino sculptures were amazing! It was great for photos. I also liked posing in the raptor cage. Farm experience was great too. There were a lot of animals like goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, rabbits, alpacas etc. But it didn't smell! Fantastic job guys!

A great place for kids, there are few animals and attractions, a cafe and a large area for dining, the cafe have a good selection of menu, food prices are a bit expensive, there's a train ride that takes you around the attractions.

This place is really cool! I have this incredible area with life-sized model dinosaurs and which is worth a look with you have kids or if you’re just a big kid! The petting zoo is lots of fun and the butterfly enclosure is a highlight too

Always enjoy the butterflies. There's a short walking track behind that you can explore too.

It cost allot to go in, especially for a family of 3. The butterfly enclosure wasnt as good, as we thought it would be. On the upside the crocodile's were good. And the bonus train ride for the kids was fun. The cafe closes too early, need more options.

Was an excellent day out with the kids. The encounter with the croc was great. Friendly and welcoming team. Good value for money. Looked a lot more impressive on the inside than it did on the outside.

Was my first time going and really had a awesome time and the best part was seeing the crocodiles being fed and the train ride.

Fun day out, butterfly house, dinosaurs, mermaids, unicorns & farm animals. And a well stocked gift shop. Parking on a Saturday was a pain though completely full & had to circle until someone left so recommend not arriving in the middle of the day on the weekends.

We had a awesome experiance at Butterfly creek with my 2 toddlers, there was just so much to look at and do and they had fun, each room was a suprise for them wondering what they going to see next and the crocodiles was the star for me but my kids enjoyed the dinosaur town and fury animals they could get close and pet. They also had train rides, a building for mythical creatures for the little ones and a cafe cooking fresh meals and near a big park. Everything was so close and conveniant to walk to , will definetly be coming back for more fun

Overall - OK place to visit with kids, generally quiet and calm place and not too many people. * Butterfly House - very hot inside, so be prepared before entering and need to be careful not to stand on any butterfly sitting on the ground. * Kiwi House - First time I saw the kiwi in real life after 20 years living in NZ. The kiwi was quite bigger than expected, so be patient if you want to see the kiwi. * Otters - Cute and clever * Farm - can cuddle guinea pig and rabbit if you want, can touch turtle etc... * Dinosaur etc... - OK to take photos with kids * Train - 2 loops ride (around 5 mins total) - nothing special - although kids love riding trains no matter what (Thought just once is enough, honestly, would not return for the train) * Cafe - Coffee price is expensive and taste not very nice, temperature was a bit low. Food was OK. Ordered Fried Noodles (good), chicken and corn fritter (could be better), crumbed chicken wrap (not bad - the only sauce was mayo in it and veges were mostly cabbage), Kid's Menu with chicken nuggets (OK - my children love hot fries and nuggets so they were happy)

We were blown away with how much there was to see here. Last time we came they had the train, the butterfly house and the crocodiles and spiders and some farm animals. Now they have this whole dinosaur exhibit which is really cool too.

It is worth visiting this place.My 12 year old had a good time .specially all the shows that happen through out the day. Its always good to call them or visit their website to know about feeding times before you visit.

overall experience 5/5 service 4/5 entertainment for all ages 5/5 value for money 5/5. for the family pass for all attractions. facilities 5/5. Cleverly designed. Everything is really close by. Very quick and easy to get to anywhere in the park. food 4/5. food was good. best caramel slice. dino breakfast great. Highlights: crocodile encounter; dinosaur kingdom; kiwi enclosure - seeing the little guy running around (you need to stay in long enough for your eyes to adjust to the dark).

Great place to take the kids for a day out. Loads of butterflies, animals and even kiwis to be seen. There is also a crocdile feeding certain times during the day. There is a large life size dino exhibit with noises and info on each dino. Wort a visit

Not much to see..a dinosaur park. Farm with chicken, alpaca, sheep, boar and rabbit. You can ride on train as well. There are others animal such crocs,eels, butterflies,kiwi, otter and a few others It was a nice place to have lunch, lunch serves good There are kids playground as well

Lots of things to see here. From butterflys to crocs, lizards, kiwi, farm animals, birds and bunnies, even dinosaurs. The train ride is okay. It goes around in a loop x2, great for the littlies. Went with my 2 year old he had a blast. There is a cafe and playground here as well.

Awesome place to take my 2 and a half year old daughter. She loved it! Wish people would stop whining! Would love to see unlimited train rides and that would be about the only thing! An enjoyable, awesome day out!

Very enjoyable. Its not massive and you can get round it in 2 hours quite comfortably. The butterfly house was my favourite bit. I paid for the dinosaur park too but at 25 years old i think its more aimed at kids. Overall had a good time. Reasonable entry costs.

A very unique experience interacting with butterflies and farm animals. A great place for Little kids to play with animals. Plus the Jurassic dinosaur attractions.

Such a beautiful experience for myself, my partner and 18 month old son. He absolutely loved all the dinosaurs and animals to look at! First time seeing a kiwi so that was an awesome experience alone! Family friendly and worth the fee!

If I was picky like many can be on google reviews, I'd probably go a 4, based on the staff in the barn being a bit off course and too busy talking to each other - but I'm not, young staff do that - and reality is kids love this place that's all that mattered to me as Dad and Uncle taking all the tama'freakies there for a bit of a day out. Lot's for the kids to see, and do, and I thought the café was a great refreshment too and with a mob of kids you need somewhere to get a good fizzy and coffee. Seeing all the animals up close is a buzz, and overall the kids love it and for that I'm stoked. For a grown up I must admit I loved the Crocs, amazing to see them up close. For whiners on reviews, you clearly haven't been around the world and seen the septic dumps that many kept crocs are living in, Butterfly creeks enclosures are cool, and I thought very well done. They are afterall, captive Crocs, so hey they are comfortable, and well fed. Tops internationally if you ask me. Overall cool as, loved it, will go back again. Cheers.

Thoroughly enjoyed Butterfly creek, You can easily lose yourself in the place, looking at the Butterflies, going on the train, looking around in there shop, looking at the Aquariums of spiders and creepy crawley insects. Fabulous place. Will definitely be back.

We went for a 5 year old birthday party and it was fantastic. While waiting in the queue we got to see this beautiful reptile. The park has a lot of animals to see, not only butterflies, as well as a petting zoo with very docile animals that you are allowed to pet. I also enjoyed the animal encounters with the sea lions and crocodiles

Was a awesome experience with dragons unicorns etc however the big unicorn looked evil an like a giant Billy goat ready to attack that was a big let down however the little one was cute an more friendly love the butterfly part humid but wonderful I had a butterfly on my head for an hour lol I could live in there so beautiful

Perfect place to take little kids :) they have butterflies area, fish area, mechanical dinosaurs area, cafe and farm animals area. The staff at the farm animals were lovely and friendly and got my hesitant daughter to feel safe and pet the cute fluffy animals. I will definitely go back.

Close to the airport so if you have couple of hours to spare then it's a time killer. Not too expensive, there is a butterfly place, dinosaur park, farm animals. There are regular activities but you need to check the times. The coffee place is good.

A great place to take little ones, the dinosaurs were excellent (bit scary for my 2 and a half yo), and the kids zoo was terrific. $3 for a kids fluffy was a bit of a rip though - frothed milk, one marshmallow and a dusting of chocolate?

Our four years old grandchild loved it and we quite liked it as well although the cafe menu is very expensive.

Great spot for all the family just a couple of minutes from Auckland airport. Lots of butterflies, reptiles, a few fish, maybe spot a kiwi if you’re lucky. Lots of farm animals and birds and scary dinosaurs. Nice little train ride and friendly staff everywhere. 10am and 3pm is butterfly release time so you can see freshly hatched butterflies as they dry their wings ready for the first flight.

Such a great place for kids , it is a bit pricey but it's well worth it, can easily spend half a day here or more.

Butterflies, Dinosaurs, Dragons and Goats. If you are looking to find an all out family friendly experience, butterfly creek is your place. The recent fantasy area is a much welcome addition. There is still alot more that can be done to this place. This can become a family friendly place to everyones favorite place. It is easy to see how much more can be done with more funding.

Our twins love Butterfly Creek. We have been twice with them and totally love it. Good child and animal friendly place.

Nice wee day out, plenty going on. Liked the cafe too, especially when the rain started. Decent selection of food and drink at reasonable prices as well.

Great place to visit either when in Auckland for a few days or you have time to spare before your flight. Only approx 10 min walk to the domestic airport.

Good afternoon outing for urban family with kids. They need to improve their farm area. It lacks animals and information. Butterfly area is nice but can really improve if someone can guide or provide more information about butterflies.

A lot of butterflies. Good place for family day. There are other activities such as crocodile show, dinosaur train tour, animal interaction, and adventure for kids. There are restaurants inside.

Amazed at how cool the new dinosaur exhibition was. We were just filling in time but it was well worth it and very reasonably priced, especially for Auckland. Stop at the cafe for lunch but I dont recommend the coleslaw- it had weird spicy Mayo through it which was disappointing. The coffee and chips were great though! Has a petting zoo and playground. Perfect place to take the kids!

Although Butterfly Creek is small, it's great for young children. The butterfly room is pretty cool and there is plenty of 'Encounters' such as animal feeding.

Loved what I saw of the place. Unfortunately we were in a hurry, would have loved to have spent more time. One of your new employees ( I believe from Scotland), was absolutely fantastic when the feeding of the crocodiles began. Please make sure you pass on this feedback

A good day out place for kids. They can explore the outside world in a safe and friendly environment. The place is full of happenings like “Butterfly release session” , “Crocodiles feeding” and “Riding a train tour around the park” etc. There is a cafe with various food and drink. Bar for adult are available too. Car parking might be a bit hard to get during weekend. There is an en entrance fees differ from adult and kids. A family package is a good deal. If you are a regular outing person, then annual package might suits your need. There is a separate fees for riding a train. Make sure you don’t miss a train ride, butterfly release session and the crocodile feeding session. They are worthy. Kid will like the train ride and butterfly releasing. There are playgrounds fir kids nearby the cafe. And the parent rooms at the end of cafe too. 75% of the area are indoor. One more attraction is you can get a close look at kiwi bird. In my opinion , this kiwi zone have a better view of kiwi than the one from the zoo. We rarely saw the kiwi at the zoo. But here at Butterfly Creek Zoo, we found them every time we went.

Such a great place. Heaps of fantastic animals. And you can see giant wetas 👍 Quite close to the airport, so if you need to kill some time, this is a great place to go.

I hadn't been out here since it was fairly new, and I'm amazed at how much it has grown. Plenty to entertain both the young and the young at heart.

Glad I finally visited. Would have been a bit better for more info on butterflies but its quite warm in there so understand keeping chats short

It's a typical attraction. It seemed like the better days were behind it and there were fewer actual animals than I expected. The kids enjoyed it, but if you're looking for something similar, Willowbank in Christchurch has far more animals (but fewer animatronics) and a better cafe.

Lots of family fun. With the petting zoo and dinosaur trail, as well as being able to walk through the butterfly rooms. Great to see the beautiful butterflies.

My young girl really enjoyed 🦋 butterfly creek. An adventurer and animal enthusiast, she enjoyed the experience and she really loved the mythical creatures section and the kiwi (as we were lucky to see it being sooo active) Her word's were 'well that was way better then I expected'.❤️

Butterfly Creek was absolutely amazing! the butterflies were gorgeous,dinosaurs were absolutely amazing the girls loved them. the kiwi was our fav we got to see it right up the front of the glass which the girls loved as they had never see one before. the farm though was incredible the animals were so friendly and the girls loved being able to pat and feed them. I would definitely recommend checking this place out even if you don't have kids its a fun day. make sure you stay for the Croc feeding. so spectacular. thank you butterfly creek!

Wonderful place to visit in winter. The butterfly enclosure gets really hot, so wear layers of clothes. Great food there too, but pack some water bottles.

Absolutely LOVED the butterflies. The whole place is looking great. When we came here last time though the kids were able to pet more of the rabbits etc and also for a family pass of $75 the kids were so bummed the train rides wernt included i reckon atleast one per person would be a better deal

A great day out for all the family! So many things to see and do. Butterfly house, Crocs, Dinosaurs, Train ride and Petting farm. Not to mention the awesome kids playground and cafe which has some delicious food and generous portions, both of which are free to enter. And they have a new Kiwi Nocturnal experience being constructed - can't wait to check it out!

Favorite part was Dinosaur Kingdom and train ride, my son didn't receive the special needs discount he was promised through email. The girl that served us yesterday was a cow. He got to touch some rabbits, talk to parrots he enjoyed his bday 👍

An awesome place if you have a few spare hours before a flight. Located so close to the airport. Not just butterflies but alligators, bugs,spiders, otters, lizards and a few farm animals. There is also a brilliant rang of dinosaur moving life-size models everywhere along the trail. I mystical cave with unicorns, aliens, and mermaids. Very well done and to top it off a great cafe aswell.

Fun fun fun Awesome family day out, heaps to see and do. Our little 8 year old was a bit scared of all the dinosaur's, only because they looked so real and we're growling all the time. Loved the animal petting area, pigs, sheep, goats, lamas, and rabbits, and the very friendly black Labrador. Soooo hot in the butterfly enclosure, with beautiful butterflies flying around us, and landing on beautiful flowering plants. Also the feeding times of the crocodiles, otters, eels, and pigs were a highlight too. Train ride was cool especially when going through the tunnels, the creaking and the squeaking of the train just added to train ride. Lunch at the cafe, with a good variety of food. Plenty of toilets throughout the park, which was great to see. An awesome 3 plus hours spent there, which was well worth the entrance fee. Cheers guys 😍

Beautiful place, very fun for adults and kids. It is better to become a child before getting in. Much better. Butterflies were awesome, a man was looking after a lizard was helpful, kind and nice. Dinosaurs were scary watch out man. Such a lovely farm of animals.

Great value. A lot of stuff there. Decent cafe. animal encounters are great. Happily spent 4 hours with the kids there.

Nice place to go with younger kids - i would say boring for teenagers. It has two different areas. The dinosaur area and the animal area ( basically a small scale zoo). You can pay for a train ride around the place which is worth it -plus gives the parents a little break from walking. Friendly staff. There is a cafe inside: food is good but staff seems to be a bit grumpy (a couple of grumpy middle age ladies working the day i went... maybe they were tired or stressed? Not many people around at the time i went though)... but food is good. There is also an ice cream shop, a small playground and a toy shop - kids go crazy there. I think you can also hire rooms for children parties.

Absolutely loved it! Haven't been for quite a few years as the older kiddies are now teens, but returned for our toddlers birthday and the changes that have been made over the years definitely make for an awesome day out. Would recommend to all, our little one and even the big ones had an amazing day!!

This is definitely a hidden gem. I arrived thinking only butterflies which is great, but by the time we left, we had experienced so much more! It's more like a zoo, taking you on a journey from prehistoric times to a place of mythology and fantasy including a small farm comparable to that seen on Charlotes web and we saw the friendly crew prepare food for some of the residents and then animals actually hug them. Just watch out for the huge croc!

Wow we loved our visit here. Our flight got delayed by 3 hours but our kids still thought they'd had the best day ever! Highly recommended for families with kids of all ages.

Quite an usual collection of attractions ranging from a butterfly house to mythical creatures and a crocodiles. A little tired looking in places but the kids were happy. We stayed a couple of hours without stopping for food (the cafe looked good).

Really good display of animals we are not used to see in daily life. Feeding and special shows show us their characters. Great staff and good cafe. Good day out.

Unsure if this is a park for Kids or Adults! We went as a family group & every single one of us loved it. Very tidy place, well presented, lots to see & do. Highly recommend for all ages. It's not everyday you get to see live crocks! Cafe is good, gift shop is good. Very very warm in the butterfly sanctum- take or buy water to drink!

We were there on Labour Day with our 2 kids. The place is smallish but still plenty for 2 little kids (4y and 2y). They loved it. Dinosaurs, farm animals, butterfly, alligators, kiwis, a playground, a cafe... We got ourselves an annual pass before leaving.

It is a lovely place to spend the day with the family but is perhaps starting to look a little tired with cobwebs on the dinosaurs and the odd broken wing... nothing that a wee spruce up wouldn't fix 🙂

I absolutely loved it the butterfly room was out of this world super hot but gosh they were cool. The tarantulas were amazing the crocks well they do stuff all lol

Just took the leaders from school on the rope course. they had a bunch different difficulties and they all held their own challenges. Had so much fun and got a really good work out.

A fantastic place to visit and see many types of animals including lizards and butterflies. I spent 4 hours here while waiting for a flight. Only 10 minutes walk to domestic terminal.

Without question this is one of the best options for a family outing in Auckland. Robotic dinosaurs, unicorns and other mythical creatures. Meet the alligators, Crocs and other water dwelling animals. Don't forget to get your train ticket to get the best views of the park.

Took our 3 year old nephew here, great place for kids. Good variety of animals including a couple of large crocodiles. The kiwi enclosure is one of my favorites. Also have several dinosaur statues and a little train that circles the park. Wish this place was around when I was a kid! The onsite cafe was a little underwhelming with limited menu. Gift Shop is on the smaller side but well stocked.

Good place to visit but it’s not cheap - for a family of three casual visit cost $81. plus food which would easily be over $120. On the other hand, I just renewed family annual pass for the zoo which cost $149 - unlimited passes.

The butterflies 🦋 must also be social distancing. Hardly any. In fact every time I come im reminded of that. Other attractions are probably better but it's all done in one hour. They really need to work on breading more butterflies. Bit sad when it's your brand.

If you have kids over the age of 7, I wouldn't recommend my kids were bored and we were done in like 2 hours due to the fact we had to wait for the train. Great stuff but not worth the price if you ask me.

First time back in over 10 years. Its nice to see improvements made in the interior and new planting ect but we were a little disappointed as we ddnt seem to think there were lots of butterflies. The cafe food was good and staff was friendly but it could have been tidier, as most chairs and tables had foodcrumbs and marks on them and bird poop. The new Dino experience was great and displayed nicely.

Disappointed that you are not allowed to eat your own food on site, and the cafe is expensive and doesn’t cater well for those with allergies.

I took my kids as i had always wanted to take them, my daughter was around 15 months when she went, 12 years ago, so it was about time to go and look. The amount of butterflys has diminished over the years, it is still nice and the kids loved it, but it was lacking the wow factor like it used to have. Now we came in just before 3pm, paid (a little steep, but happy to pay) also got tickets for the train and my kids we excited to go... no mention of when the last train was, because we went and saw everything else, spent time with the butterflies and all the othr things to see, it was around 4:30pm when we go to the train which then we saw the sign saying 4:15pm was the last train ride... so i was a big let down as we never thought that the train would close so much later... yes we got a refund and they were happy to give it (must happen often), but a heads up to say when the last ride was would have saved the dissapointment of my kids.

Great place first time I was there. Food was better than zoo and Kelly T. However Sonya lady serving the food seemed grouchy, could have made the experience better if there was better customer service in that way however. Food was expensive and personally eat out a lot, so I think favours could have been better. Other staff were pleasant, they spent a lot of money on the place. First time experience I was impressed.

Child orientated. Took the grandchildren and daughter in law. First time for me also. Would take them back there again. Was a kids day out for sure they really enjoyed the place.

Although toddler love it, it was a bit under valued by my 4 years old. Farm part was great. A bit over priced, over 80 dollars for 3 paying tickets (toddler was free). Make sure you bring s sun block on a sunny day.

We had a good size group. The children enjoyed everything, just a little disappointed that there weren't to many butterflies.

More expensive than the Zoo, and not as good. Plastic plants for the real animals, and real plants for the plastic animals????? I felt majority of animals had enclosures not up to modern standards - small, basic, plastic plants? - even the fish!! . The kiwi was the most stressed I had seen. As were the bunnies and the Cockatoo. I wouldve given it less stars but the Crocs were impressive , but what a boring existence they lead!

Excellent cabinet food in cafe ... really impressed. Service was professional, friendly and prompt. Highly recommend.

Absolutely stunning place, highly recommend to anyone who loves animals and or butterflies, was let down by the staff behind the counter at the cafe. There was no acknowledgement of people standing there too busy doing other things not one person asked if we were ok! Cafe wasn't busy at the time I actually asked if the cafe was still open! It was Friday I suppose

Great spot for kids of all ages! Lots of food on offer at the café and many different areas to explore including a farm area, dinosaur exhibit and butterfly zone.

Third time back. We lost out phone today, which had photos of our daughter etc and cards. So were little frustrated. The staff were excellent and professional in helping us reunite with our phone. Thank you. A Excellent place to bring a young family to.

Great place to take the family. The train ride is a favorite and the farm animals are great fun to pat and feed. The addition of the dinosaurs is a fun touch and the noise and movement brings them to life a little. My daughter loves it here.

Had a conference in the Papillion Rm as part of our retreat 28 Jan 2021 and I must say that the hospitality shown by the gentleman catering to our needs on the day was PHENOMENAL. From the time he let us in, he did it with a smile and was so polite and welcoming, right down to the scrumptious morning tea and lunch he had presented us with. Everything was perfect, I only wish I got his name so I could acknowledge him in this post. He is definitely an asset to Butterfly Creek.

Great place to take the kids. Ours may have been to young to fully appreciate it (3, 1.5, 1.5). We didn't take the train because the cue was massive and we couldn't be bothered waiting that long. Cafe on site, bit pricey. Good exhibitions. Small farm animal section that the littlies enjoyed.

Absolutely loved everything about the day we spent here except for the Cafe. The cafe is overpriced especially as the food is frozen/from a can/not fresh - even the cabinet food was average and dry. They do however know how to make good coffee. The butterfly enclosure was a hit, we arrived not long after their morning release so saw a lot of butterflies. Definitely recommend checking times so you don’t miss encounters. All round a great spot

Good for kids and seeing huge crocodiles.

This was a wonderful experience. Great balance of learning and 'fun'. We have a variety of ages in our family group of 10 and each one was engaged and found something of interest. It is good to see the place being extended and kept up. Can't wait to get back!

The park is not big, the farm is small with sheep and cow only. But there is a free park for kids

An awesome place to visit, especially with kids!! We took my friend's six year old and she loved it, especially the mythical creatures section (who doesn't love a unicorn?!). Animals in the petting area are so friendly and playful, such a great day out. Would highly recommend a visit.

Very much liked the place!! The butterflies were amazing. Our daughter did enjoy the play area as well, although, it is a bit small. The train ride also is not too exciting. The dinosaur area, the farm animals area were both enjoyable for our daughter. The cafe does not have much of a selection for vegetarians, so, if you are vegetarians, make alternate arrangements. They do allow outside food, only you would need to use one of the outside table. Would definitely recommend the place.

My family absolutely loved Butterfly creek! The food at the cafe was amazing and we needed it after our long trip. The manager Sonia was so helpful and a ray of sunshine. It was a wonderful end to our time in New Zealand and recommend a visit for all the cute animals, the food at the cafe, along with the service.

I love Butterfly Creek and so did my kids. There were a few things which were getting revamped. Everything was great. We didn't eat there though but we did the playground inside.

We had a great day with our daughter. She loved all the farm animals and butterfly's. Had a great train ride and enjoyed seeing all the moving dinosaurs. Agree with others the prices are a little steep and with the extra cost of a train trip that should be I included with a full ticket price. Apart from the prices you would have got a 5 star

We've been there today with our toddler, we had such a wonderful time! This place is amazing! They thought of every little detail and made it really awesome. We spent 3 hours there, and had to leave because our toddler was very tired, but you could easily spent there more time! I highly recommend!

Took a 3 year old and 1 and a half year old here today as a spontaneous decision. Great attraction for this age group. Tips: I wouldn't do it on a rainy day, would wear something short sleeved so that I could enjoy the butterflies for longer and would go to the website and check the info to make sure that we can make the most of it - catch the train, which only runs every hour, see some animals be fed etc BEFORE we go to make sure our timing is good.

The alligator is a nice addition, the kiwis are as elusive as ever, and the train ride a d farm animals seem to be as much fun for the 8 year old as it used to be when he was 3. The only complaint I have is the massive queue at the cafeteria during lunchtime.

Fun family day out, great areas to see, has range of farm animals that you can interact with, animatronic displays, feeding times are generally between 10am and 2pm best to go when feeding as it's fun to watch and the keepers tell you more about the animal. Great Place also has mini attractions around the venue.

Not really advertised, heard it through a family member. Awesome place for all family members. Will only get better as they are doing things up and adding more. Well worth a visit during your stay in Auckland. Really interesting place to go. Highly recommend to all ages and genders.

This is a great place to bring kids (under 3s are free), especially for the petting zoo. We just bought year passes. It seems very popular for tourists. Dinosaur exhibit is smaller than it was previously as upgrades are taking place but looking forward to the mythical creatures display opening soon!

Great place to go with the kids. Ensure you see the crocodile feeding at 1pm. By far the best part.

It has so much more than butterflies to show you, it has crocodiles, cafes, restaurants so your family can eat there, adventure ropes where your kids and parents can be strapped in a harness and taken to great heights while climbing ropes to get to the end of the climbing playground. Although it may be tiring to see and do all this, they have seats and chairs with dinosaur statues displaying near seats and chairs. So I would recommend this only for people that love a bit of adventure, food, and a mix in between!

Love this place. Very busy during the hoildays. My grandchildren love it there. So much to see.

First time taking our kids here. They had a great time exploring and seeing all the different animals. They eapecially loved the train ride and the mini farm. Quite a few shady spots to sit and rest aswell which is always a bonus on hot days 😊

Me, my gf and her little one came here, it was awesome, the butterflies were great but be warned, it's really, really humid in there, so your glasses will fog up, it felt like I was in a sauna. They had dinosaurs, a giant squid, a few dragons, unicorns, real crocodiles, and animals you'd find on a farm, their cafe is reasonably priced, and the train ride was a nice extra. I hope to return eventually, maybe with another little one... or two. 😊

This is a great place to take the kids and to do some photography. There is defiantly enough to squeeze into a full day, between seeing the Butterflies, reptiles, spiders birds, farm animals and dinosaurs and even now (which is one part I have not yet seen) is the mythical creature part. Good place for birthdays and conferences (I was there last year for a conference). The food/catering is good. Its defiantly a good day out. Bring a good camera and have some fun. FYI: Butterflies like bright colours, so if you wear them, they will land on you thinking you are a banana.

Came to Butterfly Creek on Friday with my 4 year old and friends, they had a blast, so much to do and see. The kids really loved the dinosaurs and the train, but their favourite was the farm yard where they got to feed the goats. A great place to bring young kids, I loved watching them explore and have fun. Had lunch in the cafe, the best soup ever!! I would visit just for the pumpkin soup alone. A great day out, highly recommended.

Quite impressed at how big and full of things to see and do. Was expecting a short simple lame thing haha. The butterflies was great and lots to see. Its very warm and humid in there. There were crocodiles, kiwi's that was easy to see which was awesome. Train ride, lots of dinosaur exhibits, otters, eels, and plenty more. Thoroughly enjoyed it

Nice place for kids, especially the farm. Kids have fun feeding the goats and touching the fluffy rabbits. We see kiwi for the first time. Exciting! The cafe offers good food. There are also some party rooms there. Good place for kids’ birthday parties. Tickets can be booked on the official website or bought at the entrance.

The facilities are great as is the lay out. The kids had a great time and enjoyed the activities. The Dinosaur Park could do with more information on the various animals. The big downside is the variety of animals. I did expect a lot more for the entry cost. It still is definitely worth the visit.

Great place to take the kids, although watch out for extra charges - the train is separate and there are different levels of what you can see priced accordingly. Great conference room that our office used recently, with fantastic food at morning tea and lunch. The only complaint from me is the skinny little ladies loos - don't change your mind or you'll have to back out!!!

Great place for young kids. My 4 & 1/2 little girl loved it.

Variety of attractions there: -Butterfly house -Petting zoo -Dinosaur kingdom (animatronic dinosaurs) -Mythical creatures (animatronic dragons, kraken etc) -Ride on train -Playground -Other animals: Crocodiles, otters, Kiwis, lizards etc Bit of a mish mash but works pretty well at keeping young children entertained. Less walking than say a trip to the zoo, plus some of the attractions are indoor so better on a day with changeable weather. Staff are friendly, cafe is not bad but generally I would take my own food. Not the cheapest, but if you can commit to going several times in a year, the annual pass works. It also means you don't have to "see everything" every time you go, you can just go to whatever parts the kids are interested in on the day

Great place to take your family. Customer service is fantastic. Coffee tastes divine. My only negative thing was our wheelchair, we used for my daughter, was hard to push on the bark path to the farm. Maybe it was just me but the disabled toilet door didn't seem very wide... wheelchair was hard to manoeuvre in and out of the disabled toilet.

I've been taking my grandchildren to butterfly creek for 15 yrs now, and it gets better every year. For me it's like the one stop shop, so much to see and do the grandchildren love it.

An awesome way to spend the day, plenty to see and do. A bit cheeky charging extra for the little train but with the creatures, dinosaurs, wildlife, butterflies, kiwis, farm stuff and heaps of cool encounters ( don't miss the croc and eel feeding) there is plenty to look at!

Was a fantastic experience for my 1 and 3 year old. The dinosaurs and dragons were the highlight of the day, with the train ride being a close second. We came in just after the crocodile feeding but the people we saw seemed to really enjoy it. Will definitely have to go again to see that

Visited Butterfly Creek in the weekend. What a great place! The farm was so appropriate for the kids and the little train ride was great. We loved that the kids could play on the playground and we could have lunch right beside them. Good display and range of animals and a good size not like the big zoos. Suitable for toddlers as not too much walking. Affordable and definitely got our moneys worth. Cheers, we will be back

My family had a blast coming here. Loved the new additions. Such a good place for the little ones. From interacting with the farm animals, riding the train & burning some energy on the playground. That's just to name a few. Will continue bringing my kids here until they are too cool for it.. 😜😁

Had a dinner function here in the evening. Comfortable relaxed setting with formal or semi formal options. Fantastic array of delicious dinner options. Lots of friendly staff who had even decorated the venue for us. Would probably comfortably suit about 100 people.

Excellent place especially for kids. Costs 87$ for 2 adults and 2 children including train ride. Train ride is for 2 rounds. Go for all attractions the pink band around your waist. There is plenty of parking with 8h limit

My son thought it was better then the zoo, he liked the farm animals. Its not as big as the zoo and less animals but a pretty good variety and we saw real crocodiles and alligators. I felt like a kid again seeing all the different types of butterflies. I paid $28+$3 for train ride. We were in a little group. The gift shop had $45 dinosaurs same size as my hands. Had to whisper to my sons that I can get these from the dollar store. But I liked it and my kids loved it.

They were fantastic. They fetched our entire group of 6 people from the airport at no charge and stored our mountain of luggage while we were at the venue. The Restaurant is very reasonable, and the giant portions definitely hit the spot after a long flight, if you are battling to choose the Goldie burger is what you want. The kids had a blast, they loved the crocodile feeding. The dinousaur park was great. The farmyard animals section was really cool as the kids were allowed to pet the animals. Finally they took us back to the airport. Excellent service.

Awesome place to take the kids for a day out!

It's been a while since we last visited. It may just have been the time of the year (being the start of winter), but there weren't as many butterflies on this visit as they used to have. In fact there didn't seem to be many at all. However the Dinosaur exhibit was great fun, as was the Mythical Creatures. The train ride (which costs extra) was enjoyable, but not overly exciting. Overall the place felt a little run down and it's a shame the butterfly numbers have declined. Would we spend just over $100.00 for our family of 5 to visit again? Unfortunately, probably not.

My youngest kid loves dinosaurs and knows, he is only 4, every single dinosaur by its name. We travel to Auckland few times a year just to bring him and others to see dinosaurs. Last visit they had the new section opened which was great to see. I love the train rides myself. A great place to spend a day.

Great place for families.Lots to see and do. It got very busy around lunchtime and the line to get tickets stretched out the door into the carpark. Cafe is very good. Not cheap for a big family but as a treat well worth it.

Had heard great things about Butterfly Creek, but was quite disappointed. The butterfly room was so so hot (should've warned visitors i think) and we hardly saw any butterflies. The farm yard was average, with not even a real cow. Could improve on a lot for the price I think.

I went with my daughter and it was amazing. There is so much to look at . from the bug house to the aquarium , kiwi house and petting zoo. We saw the otters getting fed by a staff member named Jess who was informative and friendly . Overall fantastic experience highly recommend .

Butterfly Creek is amaaazing!!! Fun for the whole family, it's kiwiana to magic to historic and much more all in one. I highly recommend it if your thinking about going, I've been twice now and Il definitely go again!

Jurassic park sized dinosaurs that come to life, friendly butterflies that land on you, crocodiles, farm animals, a train and a playground are all reasons why you need to visit Butterfly Creek. It's been a week and our kids can't stop reminiscing their time there. We will be back. Ps the coffee and cakes at the cafe were very good too.

Not bad, good food but entry fee is a bit pricey. Aucky Zoo is cheaper.

Good experience decent food, plenty for kids and adults to keep busy. The pets are definitely a treat for children and are well tame enough to pat.

Our family celebrated my little Cousins birthday here all the staff were fully knowledgeable and our 2 hosts in the boneyards room were fantastic. Our daughter would like to try the rocket ropes ,well our daughter zarah is nearly seven but would she be allowed on the ropes?

Great place to take kids to see all the animals (otters, butterflies, crocodiles etc) and the farm where you can pat the animals. The dinosaurs are pretty cool. The train just goes in a circle not sure why it is not included in your ticket price. Unless your kid really wants to go on it I would not recommend it. It is an expensive day out but worth it as a treat. I only knocked one star off because you Cannot take food in and eat a picnic inside you have to leave and sit on two tables outside. For the price I would expect to be able to have a picnic inside.

Loved it. Friendly staff. Beautiful butterflies, and other creatures. The train ride was cute. They even have a dog onsite who is super cute. A little pricey but worth the visit.

Great location next to the Airport so can visit at start of holiday or to finish off. Butterfly enclosure was fantastic. Don't miss the feeding of the Crocs was great viewing. Friendly staff nice Cafe. Also free shuttle to and from the airport.

I haven't been to butterfly creek in years and what an awesome upgrade! The only down fall about the trip is the young Indian boy that was running the Train was absolutely terrible. He really looked like he didn't want to be there no smile no nothing he sat sluched on the drivers seat as we watched waiting for our turn. He was not accommodating to families that had prams he did not even help open gates to train carts for those with prams. Was very disappointing. Very grateful for the man standing in queue that leaned over to help those with prams. Visited Saturday 4th July. Approx 1pm

We took our toddler and infant to Butterfly Creek today and they had a wonderful time. There was plenty for my young children to do and interact with although it was disappointing that they were not able to enjoy the encounters with the animals as my toddler was pushed out of the way twice by adults pushing to the front. Plenty of seating and choice with both a cafe and a ice cream parlour. The layout is well designed so that areas could be avoided. My toddler was terrified of the giant pretend insects and spiders and we were able to walk around freely without going through that section again.

Nice place for different ages. My grandbaby loved the farm animals and the train. The onsite restaurant has amazing food and so many goodies at the gift shop. Great for spending an hour or a few hours here with the family

Cool place with a neat butterfly enclosure. Feeding time with the crocodiles and walks into the farm animals is also enjoyable. Think the value for $$ spent is a bit overpriced. $75 for a family of 4 plus additional charge for a train ride, I think is about $25 too much.

This was really good fun for our dinosaur loving boy (almost 3) but the admission prices were pretty hefty. The different options to pick certain attractions for varying prices is interesting, but I'd say do it all anyway, so you got enough to do and don't end up leaving after 30 min.

Great attraction, prices if you have younger kids with limited attention span are a bit steep. Over 5's would be amazing. Under 5's (like our two) it felt a bit steep when we had to leave.

Wonderful experience, came with daughter and partner and spent over 5 hours here, the majority of the time for my daughter was spent in the butterfly enclosure she really enjoyed that. The feeding of the croc was something amazing as well and the staff was telling the story of the croc was very good to

Nice little theme park. The animal attractions are by far the start of the show. The odd "mythical creatures" show seemed out of place. Now had for the money. Cafe serves nice meals as well.

Kids had great time with so much to see namely the aquarium, and different farm animals . Also enjoyed food at cafe especially the beef stroganoff👌. Train ride was fun too!

Educational for children and even babies as they get up and close with the animals. A nice hangout for the family.

The butterflies are pretty cool; you can walk in to the butterfly house and they fly on and around you. The dinosaurs are impressive with sound and movement. You can take a train around the entire park; the kids loved it. A well stocked cafeteria and gift shop. It looks like they are extending the park to include more attractions in the near future.

This is the best attraction in Auckland for kids in my opinion. With so many interactive experiences like the butterfly encounter, petting zoo, the train ride, kiwi experiences and aquariums, there's a surprise around every corner. Excellent value for money and so much better than the zoo or motat. The kids love it.

Had a great day with my two year old and three year old. They loved the experience of holding the pet rabbits and the baby goats were adorable.Going again soon. The cafe food was yummy. The playground was heaps of fun and the train ride was fun for the adults too. If you have got toddlers and want a nice day out GO!

Loved our family visit here, kids loved seeing the animals and the crocodile feeding was fun. A little expensive though (comparable to the zoo's admission, I think because the zoo is not for profit). Train broke down just before we got on, and were refunded the ticket price.

A good place for Class trips. Mini golf and Rocket Ropes either side. Animal petting area is cool. Small train ride is neat for the kids.

We had a great day out here for my daughter's 4th birthday. It's not a big place but the activities are really varied, so it kept the kids interested. The dinosaurs scared the hell out of her the first time we went around but then she insisted we go back. The cafe is *really* good - a great range and quality of food. We thought the admission price was reasonable and it's free for under-3's.

Great experience for the whole family. You can easily whittle away a few hours here, with something for everyone, including good food!

Visited as part of a work team outing. The attractions are great however timing should be considered. The crocodiles were asleep and encounters are at specified time. Had a bite in the cafe, the food was a bit pricey but reasonably filling.

A real hidden treasure, I came not knowing a lot about Butterfly Creek with my 2 year old niece and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it! I loved watching her little face light up at all the new experiences, and enjoyed my own first experience in the butterfly house - watching the butterflies floating around and landing on lucky unaware visitors was magical. Great photo opportunities all round. The large roaming dinosaur was fantastic! All the kids loved him and he had a line of kids following wherever he went. The food portions were large and delicious. We didn't go into Dinosaur Kingdom - but will definitely go next time. I want to see my niece's reaction to the moving roaring dinosaurs! It's bound to make a good story.

Probably a bit $$ for what is here. We enjoyed our day, our kid enjoyed patting the animals and the train ride, was scared of the dinosaurs so was a waste of money paying for that. For our entry price we did think there was going to be more at the park, and we missed out on feeding the animals with the limited number of feed bags as well.. still a fun day, but I would probably just pay for the feeding farm and butterfly house and not worry about anything else

Great for the whole family. Would not spend more than a few hours here as that’s all you need to see everything. Can go in a conservatory and see the butterflies. There is also a reptile and bug area and a farm area where you can come up and close with the farm animals and walk alongside them. There is also a train which will take you through the whole place. The cafe also has nice food. If you are visiting Auckland and have not been here before would recommend, especially for families.

Plenty for the kids to see for a couple of hours although if you have young toddlers the gate setups can provide for extra climbing activities so not so relaxing. Best to get here early before the crowds and if you want some food in a resonable time as it gets very busy quickly.

Great place to take the kids. Butterflies, miniature train ride, spiders, petting zoo 'dinosaurs' and fossils. Time well spent. Eat before you go as the food is on the expensive side and not that great. A cappuccino was served in an espresso cup. Dining area staff not very friendly but all other staff were wonderful. Ice cream shop shut early too so we missed the pleasure of having a nice treat at the end.

This is a really nice place to go in the summer. If you don't have kids try to go on a week day when there are no school holidays else it can be really busy. Cafe is also quite expensive so if you're on a budget pack snacks.

Great place to go to see a few out of the ordinary things, in particular the tropical walkthrough was amazing. A great range of things to see an do including the train ride and dinosaur area. Would gladly see it again. Only take an hour or two to get all the way through.

Quite expensive...we paid about $90 (2 adults , 2 kids) to get in and then another $40 for lunch. The butterfly sanctuary is beautiful and a great experience and the Dinosaur exhibition also good. Great spots set up for photos throughout the park and plenty of shade and stopping points...unlike the zoo you're more up close and personal. I only gave it a 3 because it has been a lot better on past visits. The petting zoo used to let you pet the rabbits, chinchillas, guinea pigs, mice....and it was very interactive but now you just feed the goats and llamas. Not sure if we missed the bug house or if it was moved to a less interactive section. The train ride is always a bonus for the kids! But all in all I felt like I walked in and out...no regrets going but probably twice a year would be enough!

First time visit. Great mix of attractions/ animals etc. Fish, butterflies, crocs, kiwi, farm animals etc. Toddler enjoyed the dinosaur kingdom and farm yard. Nice to be able to pat the piglets and rabbits. Great little playground with slides to wear the littles out by the cafe. There are train rides but we didn't try them on this visit. Miss 2 was free which was great. Ideal to check out if you are killing time at the airport or family day out with the rocket ropes and mini golf next door.

What a fantastic place. I can't believe I've never been before .You our toddler and 1yo who both loved every minute, the facilitates are great, exhibits really well done and the cafe/ restaurant was the best I've seen in a zoo type place . well worth a visit, with kids or otherwise .

Used to go when the kids were little so it was a good trip down memory lane but with some new stuff too. Really loved the otter encounter as they came right up to the glass. I have never seen one that close before and was fascinated. The kiwi house is a great addition too but had to go through 3 times before we saw the kiwis.

Butterfly creek is a must visit destination. A family of four costs about $75. The butterfly enclosure is humid and hot - but houses a large variety of butterflies. There are several interesting creatures to look at like the crocodiles and lots of interesting animatronics. There is a farm section with rabbits and bunnies that you are allowed to pat. There are also parrots and lots of other animals. There is a train (which costs extra) that the kids will love to go on.

Fun day out dor the younger kids and very knowledgeable staff.

Great place with lots to see and do especially for the little ones. We saw crocs and kiwis which we weren't able to see at the zoo. All in all great experience reasonably priced and not too crowded.

A great place for the kids to explores, with dinosaurs, eels, otters, and a small farm. Numerous encounters throughout the day so kids can get up and close with the animals. A new Kiwi exhibit has just opened, and there's a fun miniature train ride (at extra cost) available. Well-stocked cafe (licensed for the grown-ups). Unfortunately the sense of time is a little elastic, as some encounters open early and some late, when combined with the scattered locations, can make it hard to link up all the experiences.

Loved this place. As a dinosaur lover I had to visit and wasn't disappointed. Great display area. Has other attractions as well. A small aquarium, butterfly house, crocodile, farm animals and train. A great afternoon spent here.

Not too bad but pretty average, not much to see. Nevertheless, butterfly room was a highlight! Never had experience like this that you could have a close look to the butterflies. Staff was kind and cool

Awesome place to take kids. 4 hrs of fun ended up going through twice. Had a seven year old with me he loved the butterfly's, the croc's, Dinasour kingdom, train ride and then finish it all off with a leisurely stroll through an animal farm. One very happy but tired boy.

Its ok, grounds need a tidy up as its over grown quite abit, train ride is over priced considering you mainly see the over grown grass, food is meh coffees great, kids smiled throughout the day so we walked away happy

Spent two hours, would have liked to have double the time. Will definitely be back

Loved this place. Very well set up and maintained. Excellent for young families. Easy to get around ..plenty of toilets..great cafe and food. Helpful staff who aren't to busy to answer your questions . Really glad we went ..not just for kids 😁😁
