Perfect beach for a dog get together🙌 check the dates, cause in high summer off lead dogs are only allowed at certain times. The water is nice and warm & it’s a pleasant spot to play. Kid and dog friendly, toilets easily accessible and a spot to buy coffee. Big enough to go for a walk in the beach too

The weather is great. This is a must visit place for you to get out of town from Auckland. you can enjoy both the white sand long beach with blue sky. plus there are so many beach front delicious cafe and restaurants. also a nice stopover town when you drive to Northland

Such a lovely kiwi beach, the water is warm to dip your feet in, I would recommend swimming between the flags though as boats and currents can be unpredictable. All in all, a great summer location with so much room to spread out and have a good time

Not too far away from CBD, about 35km or so. Can take the last exit before the toll. Nice long beach with white sand. Playground and public restrooms are available. Lovely to take a walk on the beach, with your loved ones. On a low tide the beach widened up, some nice photo spots.

I love Orewa beach. Nice spacious soft sand area. Large beach area. Great playground off the beach and a basketball hoop yard. After your swim you can walk to the main street and find a nice restaurant or ice cream place.

Short drive from Auckland. Long beech with footpaths. Picturesque estuary views. Very large golden sandy beech when the tide is out and you can wade in for 100 meters and still be in shallow waters. Close to town centre and cafes. Been there 3 times now and love it.

Certainly one of the finest beaches in Auckland. It becomes a paradise for wind surfers who flock to these sands when the weather is right; and to see the many kites in all their colourful, with the surfers below sometimes doing acrobatics and sometimes merely whisking along the shoreline lost in their craft. A really wonderful beach to visit and I'm glad that I live close by.

Clean and nice beach. Very good view. It is a nice place to bring your family and spend sometime. The beach is very nice for family swimming as no big waves are there. The view is fantastic. Though it is a nice beach but you have got access to all amenities across the road.

Great beach with the water being so warm and facilities at various places along. Showers and toilets. The sand is so fine and the town centre being along the seafront means you are never far from a snack or a coffee.

Nice, long, fine and clean beach. Beach is walkable up to 0.5km out during low tide. Beach is firmed and does not have an sharp gradient drop. Water on Easter Monday at 1pm was not cold & nice temperature for a swim. Please swim between lifeguard flags as a dedicated & friendly lifeguard is the to monitor & leap at a moment's notice. Safety is everyone's priority. Lots of lovely spots to sunbath, a game of cricket or even walking the dog. There are many byo picnic spots in the open or shaded. Please clean up after use.

Basic and quite small beach but still nice for a family picnic, plus got ice cream from the ice cream truck that drives around. Great views and decent amount of parking. They've also got lifeguards in the summer in some sections.

Orewa beach is a great place to swim without having to worry about dangerous waves etc. There can often be quite strong currents which can be unexpected. A great place for young kids or groups to hang out safely. It is the east coast, so if you want decent waves you'll have to wait for a storm or something, but good for practising surfing etc.

Lots of opportunity's to entertain the kids with playgroundS and there is a skate ramp over the road, lots of great restaurants cafes and ice cream places right over the road. Long beautiful walkways. Always a perfect summer day out and a beautiful setting in winter.

Lovely 3 km-long Beach is perfect for fitness walking, with hard packed, level sandy surface. Very shallow bay. The water was warm even in April. Changing rooms and outside shower at the park.

Not fancy, just a older beach bungalow, but everything you need, queen bed, kitchen, TV & great view, we had the best time. Within walking distance of the hotel and right on the beach. The people were great! If there was one thing I could say was a drawback it's the limited WiFi, but the beach was so pretty you didn't even miss it.

Lovely beach. Very picturesque. If you're after sandy beaches with waves, this is not it. Beach is very flat, so ride goes out a long way. Sand is more like a riverbank - muddy sand.

Beautiful beach. Very long, going from one end of Orewa bridge towards the roading winding up hill to Hatfields Beach. Good surf along Orewa beach, which is great for wind surfing or board surfing. Good for fishing as well. Can buy food at Orewa Surf club restaurant. Dog beach at the bridge end of the estuary as well.

Great beach, cleaner than all those on the shore and actually has some useful waves on a good day or can be good for kite surfing on others. At low tide it's good for blow karts or boarss but can be pretty busy. Try the estuary behind if the wind isn't quite right at high tide.

Exceptional lifestyle if you enjoy seaside living with a variety of cafe's, shops. Special events on some weekends in addition to the regular Sunday market (also evening market each month) and larger music and car events. Lots of nostalga cars attracted to the boulevard ranging from Morris 1100, American muscle cars, European classics and the occasional Ferrari. Underrated place to live given the unique charming beach side resort feel compared to inner city suburbs.

Why wouldn't you like such a beautiful beach ? You can come by bus from Hibiscus Stn ( Parking is hard especially at lunch times!).Plenty of places for brunch etc No 984 985 or 981 will take you to the Orewa village!

. (03/2017) Nice long beach. Being at a distance of just one short drive from Auckland CBD, it is ideal for spending a lazy afternoon or evening. Fantastic views. On a good day you can easily spot the surfers in the sea. Well maintained. There is a reserve and a market located near the beach.

It's long beautiful beach with friendly (mostly) people having a good time. The silt that comes down from the building sites in the drains spoil what could be a perfect beach.

2.5 km long a safe swimming beach with a gentle change in depth. Mostly well sheltered from large swells. Southern end has the estuary and walkway, there's cafes, playgrounds and a popular campsite. Halfway along the beach brings you close to the town centre with a good choice of restaurants,cafes, pubs, surf and SUP stores, shopping etc.. Northern end is usually quieter, it has toilets shower parking and a small freedom camping area. Beach is very popular with Stand up paddleboarders and surfers and can get very busy when conditions are good. Kite boarders come out when winds are off shore. Main places to launch your boat are from the estuary at southern end (Tidal with small barr), also a small launch near town thats very popular with jet skiiers. One of my favourite beaches.

Buy chance and short on time having lost my beloved Maree 2 weeks pryor I thought I would pop into the markets and have a quick look. It was there that while walking around in the hall I saw an empty seat in front of bright young lady all a glow.. So I sat down she took my name and drew a heart next to it... Then the tears of sadness and joy flowed incredibly she knew my partners name began to tell me all about her and her heart for me it truly was one of the most amazing experience.. A great place to Paddle Surf in Auckland on a fun small wave. Excellent for learners. Usually there is a 1ft swell that rolls in from a fair way out. Also a good small wave to teach children to longboard on, but this often lacks size for adult surfers. Larger swells punch in when offshore storms or cyclones sweep in from the north east. The Orewa Bar at the south end of the beach has a nice long right hand break especially good for Stand Up Paddle Surfers. Rides of 70m to 100m are not unusual. Best on incoming tide and NE or E swells. With cafes at the beach this is the most relaxed, civilised, and safest surf experience in Auckland. If you want big waves and lots of action, head to the West Coast.
