LOVE this place, great selections of the movies, nice lazy boy seats in front rows. Buying tickets on line makes things easier and they don't charge you the fees.

My wife and i went for the first time today and it was amazing. The place has that nice vintage cinema atmosphere and has a nice lounge for before and after the movie. Pricing was reasonable, staff are very nice. A lot nicer experience then the main cinema chains most people go to.

I love this cinema. The girls at the till are very friendly and polite. The cinemas are clean, seats comfortable and the cost is affordable. There is also a lift for disabled people. Toilets are clean. The movie selection is always good.

Boutique theater experience. We love the reclining chairs and wine selection. Especially love the small theaters. The film selections are always up to date and sometimes off beat and quirky. Highly recommend.

Delightful clean spacious local theatre. Nice service when we rang and asked them to hold tickets for us. Need your mask and vac passport ready. Lift to upstairs theatre for those who require it. Coffee cakes ice cream drinks available.

I always enjoy coming here, it was a novelty as we hadn't been since first lockdown. The extras: wine and ice-cream or coffee and the comfy armchair seats make it feel like a real treat/date night out

Watched King Richard, first time at Lido cinema and was pleasantly surprised by the boutique cinema experience. . Great seats, felt private and had everything you'd need to enjoy a great movie (snacks and coffee ). Loved it !.

Intimate movie theatre certainly a lovely change from big chain ones. Tends to show more art house theme films. I enjoy the comfortable seating with more leg space.

I always enjoy the lido theatre.. Great atmosphere and movies and great icecream! But don't enjoy how loud the movies and especially the pre movie promotions are...its great to have a good sound system but too loud for me.. I don't know how people with hearing aids can tolerate it...

Went to the Lido yesterday and it was honestly a fantastic experience. I went with someone with a walking disability and the staff really went out of their way to make everything easy. 10/10, will definitely be coming again :)

One of my favourite cinemas in the world for one simple reason: the front row of the downstairs screen is entirely lazy boy lounge chairs, complete with extending footrests. Since movies tend to alternate between screens, try to book the movie you want to see when it's showing downstairs - trust me, it's worth it. Naturally, the screen and sound is of good quality too. These cinemas provided a lovely comfy environment to watch what a felt was a captivating film. The range of food and drinks offered along with the comfy recliners were pleasantly surprising as I was advised to watch the film in a larger cinema.

Hi since doing this review the theatre did a refurbishment of the main cinema and it is fantastic so back up to five stars. Went early July 2020. Very very comfortable with plenty of leg room. Lovely staff at desk. Auckland Lido is great for an older theatre and it is my first choice if showing a movie I want to see. The reason I have given three stars is because the seats in the large theatre in the most used seating area which I have sat in lately clearly are getting worn out. The carpet was also threadbare at my feet.

Love the Lido, always polite efficient staff. Great wines and nibbles reasonably priced to enjoy your movie with. Fantastic refurbishment. If you want a night out, get to the Lido asap

Was lovely to get back to my favourite cinema on Saturday.First time since lockdown started in March. Bonus was easy to find parking in Alba St as I come from Pukekohe. Thoroughly enjoyed the film " The Secret Garden" a feel good experience. Elsie

This tiny little cinema tucked away between a Japanese Sake Bar and One Tree Hill is one of the cutest cinemas I've ever seen. There are only two theatres, but it is very well furnished and they have a good selection of snacks. Their film choices are always great as well.

There's something special about this cinema, i love lounge area for drink and coffee. staff are so friendly and seats upstairs is very comfortable. i wish they get more customers and play more movies each day :)

Atmosphere is wonderful. The price is OK, and they offer a reasonable discount for seniors. The movie fare is eclectic and pleasant. If you are looking for the slightly more alternative movies this is definitely the place for you. The staff are welcoming and the ice cream flavours are absolutely top notch. The chairs are truly comfortable. If you have a choice, choose the Lido. You won't regret it.

Boutique ,smaller theatres make for an intimate veiwing experience. Front row chairs recline .Lovely fresh flowers in the women's bathroom add a special touch . Can buy tickets online and collect at desk . Little sitting /waiting areas with magazines .It pays to arrive early due to limited street parking on busy main road

Lovely intimate cinema. Came here to stay away from the kids and crowds on a Saturday night. This cinema has a bar and a lovely lounge area for you to sit and wait by the fire. Cinema seats are so comfy and if you get in first sit down the front on the recliners. I would reccomend booking online as we almost missed our movie as it was almost sold out. I would also reccomend getting a glass of wine, best $9 pour in town 😂

I love this venue, this is on my way home from work, and car parking is easy and nearby, and when a good movie comes on, i can see it at 5.30pm or 6pm, great times for movies.You can sit and relax either a glass of wine or a yummy Ice Cream. I go on my own and enjoy every minute of it.

I love the place. It's so small, one cinema theatre probably fits 100 people. The sofas are nice and it's not all that expensive. The place has an old-time feel to it, perhaps because it really is old. The movies are pretty up to date though.

Much better than big cinema.

Took my mother tonight to see A Star Is Born at your lovely cinema. Never been before but am positively delighted at how wonderful the venue is! From the decor to the lovely, friendly staff who have the brightest smiles on their faces, thank you for a wonderful evening - will definitely be back very soon! :)

I love this cinema. It has a great waiting area where you can sit and enjoy a beverage from the bar before the movie. The cinema seats seem to have more room too which makes for a more comfortable viewing experience

This is a fabulous little cinema, the staff are great, it's very comfortable and welcoming. They show a mix of new and old films. There is coffee and comfy seats in a library where you can chill before seeing a film.

Just so enjoyable always going to the Lido..a little luxury👌

Went to movie night at the Lido for a fundraiser for my old High School St Mary's College. Great night, great occasion, great movie, great seats and a great view of the screen. Best picture theatre I have been in for a long time and caught up with some old school friends I haven't seen in years.

This is an amazing little cinema. Showing real good movied. Tiny, intimate beautiful screening room, front row has recliner leather seats, leg rest and all. I'm so jealous of the people who live nearby and call this their neighbourhood cinema. I would be here all the time. Wine, ice cream, cookies...also loved the lounge.

Always love going to the Lido. Among the last of the original theatres left in Auckland. Modernized and super comfortable seating in the actual cinema also in the foyers. Great sound system and viewing experience to enjoy Rocketman. Highly recommended cinema

The big comfy 'lazy boy' style seats in the downstairs theatre made this movie-going experience so much more enjoyable than a regular theatre. Great value too for such quality. Looking forward to seeing another movie here.

Went to see the 2nd movie of Dalton Abbie

2012 - The Lido is hands down Auckland's most beautiful, well appointed, well run cinema. It's owner manager knows and understands the people he serves, he buys films they want to see and shows them in the most elegant of surroundings. The fireplace and sitting area on the ground floor is just magical and his disabled access means no stairs to and from the most accessible rows for those with mobility issues. For the best films in the best surroundings, the Lido is a great choice. I used to be a competitor and even then, I was heard to say the Lido was Auckland's best cinema. 2021 - So past the worst of the pandemic (we hope) it seems logical that my first paid cinema visit was The Lido that I declared Auckland's best cinema in this review in 2012. The Lido originally opened in the 1920's and I think opened as The Regent. Richard Dalton and business partners refurbished it and reopened after a long closure in 2001. They then added a second boutique screen in 2004 and then, with tragic bad luck, started a third refub in 2019 delivering a stunning new boutique screen and reseated main cinema with an improved sight line through new stadium seating in mid 2020, just after New Zealand's first and longest COVID19 lockdown. Richie and his team remain the operators of the best cinema in Auckland that is even better than the new standards it set back in 2001. 20 years, well done people! By the way, they do great coffees and you can happily enjoy one in their lovely lounge area whether or not you're attending a movie.

Haven't been here for decades. Its changed heaps and I loved it. Theres a lovely lounge area to have a coffee or take your drink into the theatre. The seats are large and comfy. I'll be back.

A Great theater & good service

The Lido is the best cinema in Auckland. The staff go out of their way to make sure you are happy .The toilets always have fresh flowers , which I feel is a very thoughtful touch .The lounge is tastefully furnished. It is just so perfect in everyway. Thank you for being there.

Really prefer the smaller art house theaters. More of a personal experience with adult glasses of wine and friendly staff. Of course a good movie helps and Widows is definitely good.

The best local cinema!

This cinema is a favorite in Auckland. Why go to the typical sterile feeling movie theater when you can instead go to one that is alive with class and tradition. The movie selection may be slightly more limited that doesn't really matter, they only pick the good ones :) Book ahead of time and plan on being able to sit down and enjoy a movie that it's meant to be enjoyed: comfortably with a glass of wine.

A great movie theater. The staff were wonderful and extremely helpful. After recent surgery on my foot, the staff very kindly reserved our seats so I had a seat with a footrest. Thank you so much.

An absolute Auckland classic, a cinema with so much character and history. Always a really good selection of festival films on offer here. You can also take your wine and food in to your seat!

Very cozy cinema. It has a lovely retro style decor. And very, very nice retro style music to complement the decor. It makes coming here part of the experience. I really enjoyed my visit here!

While not going to the movies on a regular basis, The Lido is my first call and it is rare for them not to have a film that I like and even rarer that I go elsewhere. The comfort and surrounding are excellent, they do not charge excessively for the pleasant surroundings as the multiplexes have decided to, and you can get a great cup of coffee as well.

One of our goto movie theatres. Small and cosy, personable staff, current movies, GREAT icecreams and other snax, good wine/beer selection, bus stops nearby coming/going on both main roads. Have never had any cause to complain!

Good movies, comfy seating, good deals for seniors. For reasons known only to themselves , they start their programmes earlier than the advertised time. How early? I have no idea. This means that if you would like to see trailers of other movies you have to get there early. How early? I have no idea. Come on Lido, if it was a good idea, Event, Hoyts, Reading,. Berkeley, Rialto and the Academy would be doing it too.

This is our local cinema and we're a bit biased! Staff are always lovely and even the small downstairs cinema is charming.

Beautiful ambience, and awesome staff. Perfect Maple Walnut Ice-cream, and a gorgeous, intimate location for a niche movie. Beautiful to be here every time I visit.

A great place with lots of atmosphere and hood coffee too. A good choice of films - often ones you wanted to see but missed. Parking can be a problem though, do allow time for this.

Beautiful cinema that reminds you of the Peak of old fashioned cinemas. The screen felt quite high on the wall and far away, and it was nearly impossible to find the men's bathrooms. The staff were nice though.

A cosy place to see a movie with two lounges to relax in, and read while you wait, along with two movie theaters. The staff are friendly and efficient. This local picture theater in Epsom serves wine, coffee and great icecreams.

Nice venue and lovely selection of wines. For a first timer, I was impressed that it was a boutique style cinema, different experience than a mainstream viewing cinema found in the main centres.

This is a lovely theatre, with beautiful seats, I saw They Shall Note Grow Old, which was a beautiful film. They also have a very well appointed lounge, as well as alcohol.

Best cinema I've ever been to. Its warm, there is space, I don't see many screaming kids there, the interior doesn't hurt my eyes and they play good movies.

I love this place, it has a lounge where you can wait if you arrive early and it is so confortable. If you're in the bottom cinema room I recomend arriving 20 mins early so you can get the front seat because they're the best

The friendly and helpful staff at the Lido are a big reason why we keep coming back here, they make, as they did tonight, an evening watching a movie at the Lido so much more enjoyable than anywhere else.

It's a classic theatre. I always wish I had more time before the movie to just enjoy the atmosphere. They even have a library!
