First time in this cinema, I'm in shock... I love this place even when the screen is not big than others the quality are very good and the sound was so perfect... Delicious popcorn, soft drink in bottle also you have from tap but I prefer in bottle like used to and the ice cream good serve.. The employees so friendly and helpful!!! We will back soon!

My absolute favourite place in the world to go to the movies! Cheapest place ever for families, at $40 for family of 2 adults and 2 kids (Check age limit online). Very friendly and polite staff. Clean, beautiful premises with an old school vibe that is deliberately charming. Food and drinks are priced up, just like everywhere else, so if you're hungry have a meal first next-door, before arriving for your movie, then maybe just buy a bucket of popcorn to share when you get there. Make sure you get your tickets and popcorn at least 20 minutes prior to your movie starting, as the queue for the ticket counter is often long and it can take 10-15 minutes to reach the counter. If you risk leaving it to the last minute to arrive, and you are wanting to see a popular movie, chances are that it will be sold out by the time you reach the ticket counter. So be early!!! All the theatres have beautiful large comfy chairs, which my NZ size 16 frame can easily sink into, and there's lots of leg space. Fantastic! The Monterey is a great place to hold a kids birthday party for 2-3 hours. You're allowed to bring your own birthday cake to share in the cafe area, and then you boomerang them back to their parents without having had to do anything except watch a movie and hand out buckets of popcorn and fizz drink lol! Awesome! The price is very reasonable.

Went to watch the screening of Space Jam 2 at Monterey Cinemas Howick. The interior of the location looks awesome! & Must say the predecessor movie sequel was well worth it. Taught us family and values the bond that tie people together strength and unity 👍🏼🎥🎬😊

We enjoy coming to the Monterey because they always have a good mix of blockbusters and smaller independent films. The theatres are tidy and they don't blast the sound too loud. Tuesday is a great deal and there are some good little spots to eat nearby as well. Ice creams and popcorn are a must.

Great movie. Surround sound was a bit out of whack though. They made us sit against the wall at the back. We thought the theatre was fully booked with limited seating. Turns out it was less than half full and we could have had better seats in the middle.

We were greeted by a bubbly American lady for whom nothing was too much trouble. Great reception asking us if we had been there before. Fresh food. Lovely wine and funny film. I don’t go to movies often but was in Auckland on vacation and at a loose end. Intimate theatre with great leg room. Go there! Could probably do with another pair of hands behind the counter but didn’t spoil a great evening with the family.

Great prices, food catering is diverse enough that people with food allergies are able to purchase something to eat. Quaint and inviting set up (perfect for a movie night out), friendly staff, comfy chairs. Clean bathroom facilities for use as well. They hold events every now and then in conjunction with certain movies (eg girls night out etc).

Cute little cinema that's pretty cheap. You can buy hot food out the front and take it in with you. We got some pizzas and coffee that were pretty tasty. They also have mums and bubs sessions where they screen a kids movie (obviously) and no one cares if your toddler looses the plot halfway through. Or if you need to breastfeed your screaming baby that's totally fine too.

Staff are always super friendly and helpful and the cinemas are usually fairly empty but also seem to be of higher definition than other cinemas. Highly recommended to everyone. Felt very out of place as me and some of my friends weren't lighter skinned. From the moment we walked in we had stares. However the staff were awesome. The cinema volume was a little on the low side so will have to watch the movie again to hear what was said but overall experience was ok.

This is one of Auckland's great little secrets. Although occasionally let down by variable service standards ( some of the younger crew seem either untrained or 'too good for this job') the cinemas are invariably clean, small enough to be cozy, let you take in hot food etc from lobby cafe, and seats comfy enough for even the longest of films. Tons of nearby dining options and parking and, well, you do the math. Worth a go. Just don't expect too much from some of the weekend staff and you'll be glad you drove the extra distance.
