Reliable mainstay of Auckland music over the decades. Recently got back into Vinyl and have made many online purchases from Real Groovy since. Always great reliable service and quality. Purchased a number of second-hand vinyls as well, all of which have been in great condition. Thank you Real Groovy 🙏

I love Real Groovy; I always buy my albums from there. If you’re from NZ and is also a fellow k-pop stan they have so many options and different choices for k-pop fans and non. They have hit albums and random stuff that may be of your interest. The staff are very sweet and overall I love Real Groovy and will definitely be coming back heaps:))

Could not find the records I wanted anywhere online and in-store, and second hand was really expensive. But real groovy helped me find them (brand new sealed condition) and ordered them for me! Really appreciate the customer service.

Very cool store - to be honest I had no idea Real Groovy was still here on Queen Street but going in and finding what I wanted - really happy with my purchases. I think that it may be alittle cramped but maybe that was because of the customers browsing but I'll definitely come here again and take a longer look because of the sheer range of items on offer - well worth the visit in my opinion.

Great selection of music. Found some early George Benson super cheap. Friendly and helpful security guy as well. Good experience.

I and my wife love this place. We have gone often here in our time in Auckland. Being in nz means giving up style and customized items. Real Groovy give you both style and custom item. Plus good music. You always want to buy something or just spend some time in here. And the staff is really nice and always helpful. Love it! This is a must-see place in Auckland!!

Its been years since I last visited Real Groovy. I'm not an Aucklander. I could've stayed there all day. So much to look at... A nostalgic trip down memory lane at every turn. Definitely a highly recommend from me.

Awesome experience - Huge collection of DVDs and music records. Also, a truly unique collection of collectibles, books, stationary, etc. DVDs: They have a huge sale going on movie/TV DVDs with prices ranging from NZD 4-10/ DVD. Almost all the titles are divided genre wise and even then it would take hours to just surf them all - that's the size of their collection. Books: They are no Crossword or Whitcoulls when it comes to their collection of books in terms of size but in terms of uniqueness they're pretty much ahead of the two. If you're looking for a popular book from a popular author, you might not find it here, but what you will find here, you will find nowhere even on popular topics/ franchises/ novels etc.

Used to love the store when they were in Wellington, was very sad to see them go. Have made several purchases from them via TradeMe and directly via their site. Very happy with the service. Other members of my family also enjoy purchasing from the store online. Give someone an online voucher, they will love it!

Seriously hands down THE BEST record store Worldwide!!!! Done...mic drop. Got you attention, I hope so because this a place you should not miss, even if you are not a vinyl conisour. They have all types of music in all forms, vinyl, cd, etc. They have movies and all types of music stuff, t-Shirts, hats, posters, books novelties and games.....all come on why should I have to explain it. Just come!!! I challenge you to walk out without finding something you want or even better need. I couldn't wrap this up without mentioning the incredible staff. We had several questions being our first time, and they did not disappoint. They were very friendly, patient and helpful. Thank you Real Groovy store and staff you made our Xmas and our new music scene complete.

Great service and great staff enquired about an item i could not find,Staff member Samantha said she could order it,waited approx a week,transaction completed via phone and it is exactlly what i needed and perfect fit and right colour. I'm over the moon tx and keep up the good work.

Great experience. Huge amount of records (new and secondhand) and lots of pop-culture stuff. Lots of sale records that were under $10 upstairs, it was fun to have a crate dig, if I had more time I would be there all day. Books, cds, dvds, tees and band merch - there were lots of interesting gifts to choose from that made christmas present shopping easy. There were even edible insects! Staff were helpful and nice, I'll definitely be back.

Everything was So Easy for an Out-of-Towner - parking was easy as was my trade drop off. The staff were very relaxed and pleasant. Totally reccomend this place.

Iconic local music store with all sorts of music (vinyl, CDs and DVD) and pop culture merchandises and novelties.

I felt like a teenager again, going after all the best vinyl before my mates got to it.

Fantastic service! I ordered an LP and two CD's on their website which was easy to use and worked perfectly, there was a small issue with one of the CD's being unavailable but they quickly and professionally wired the money back to my account. The shipping for the remaining items was incredibly fast even though one of the CD's requested was being imported from America! All products are very good condition and come with the original slips, covers, and extras. Will be purchasing again very soon! :)

I can waste hours here, so many great records to browse through. They have a heap of $3-$10 sale records at the moment. Lots of good stuff in there if you have the time to dive through crates.

Probably the best vinyl store in Auckland. They have the rare and the new. The popular and the unknown. Great selection and reasonable prices. Our favorite place to browse for vinyls. The online shop is also amazing and efficient! Staff also very friendly and knowledgeable!

Don't really want to say how fantastic is this virtual warehouse of recycled cds, DVDs, vinyl records and the occasional Bluray disc. Because I want to keep them all for myself! It's a treasure trove of classic, rarities, and modern recordings and movies at insanely competitive prices, all in excellent condition. You just need to give yourself plenty of time to work through the collection. Spend hours at Real Groovy but just a few dollars to expand your collection. Unbeatable.

Quality shop. Have spent hours roaming the place over the years. Should definitely stock more obscure punk albums that no one has ever heard of.

We love coming here to see what little nerd things we can find. Me for the weird and wacky and him for the vinyls. Always find something to take home with us.

If you are into vinyl, CDs, or even cassettes across a wide range of genres, head downstairs here and get digging! A surprising selection of interesting books, t-shirts, and music related items can also be found on the ground floor.

What's there not to like about real groovy....still one of the ever out lasting music and records stores still in existence.Freindly staff, and yes the layout is soooooo weird with the record shop upstairs lol!

What an amazing place and found some DVDs I was not expecting to find in NZ at all as they only available in North Wales that I know of and are hard to find. Most impressed with the staff and real groovy and will go there more often.

Tucked away up two small flight of stairs at the top of Queen Street -large record store. No street parking, can possibly get building parking validated with purchase.

Had a problem with my Pro-Ject vinyl cleaning machine. Was replaced promptly with a new one. Excellent service, friendly staff. Couldn't ask for more.... 😉

Excellent customer service, bought a new LP which didn't quite play right on our entry level turntable. Was listed to in store and no fault with the LP, however the issue was / is with my turntable, explained exactly what the problem was and offered up a number of possible solutions.

Good collection. Had my favorite grunge bands in there too. They've got good used records worth buying too especially if you don't want to buy a re-re-re-remastered 100th anniversary version of a classic album

It's an Auckland institution. While it's not quite the flag store shop of yesteryear the new location at the top of Queen Street, near the junction of k Road has everything you will need to keep you coming. Real groovy has a great selection of old and second hand records. They probably have cassettes in there somewhere as well. Friendly knowledgeable staff make the experience a breeze. It's a great place to come and discover something you never knew you needed or to find that much searched for album that you thought you would never find...

It has everything! Not JUST the popular singers and bands, but all ranges of music. They also order merchandise for you and provides merchandise from popular singers and bands. Honestly, the records are in good shape and are clean. Everything about this place is great!

I love Real Groovy, but it is really frustrating for people who not live in Auckland and only able to shop through online shopping, if the list of secondhand vinyl and the pdf list not updated in the same time, which will result someone will grab it in store, which is lil bit not fair because it's not available in the same time. I really wish that they can update the secondhand list in the same time. I will still give 5 stars, because I love them, and they are the best in the country. But I hope they read this, so maybe they can fix this problem.

Absolutely Love this place, Been coming to the shop recently to buy some records and some other retro tech. Staff were very nice and helpful and were always keen to help out if you needed something. But i did find it a bit hard to find some records because the placements were a bit mix and matched but I did manage to find what I was looking and I am very happy with the quality of the records. Amazing place to shop Highly Recommend!

Can be reasonably expensive especially if your looking for a popular album but that's offset by the very convenient location. They almost always have what you want. Great place to bring some friends to grab some vinyl and go home and give it a spin

Great store , big selection , friendly staff .. but takes ages for an online order to arrive .. could be the blame lies with the couriers ..... day 13 and book yet to travel 16.5 kms across town to our letterbox :-) :-)

Had an issue with my turntable and the managing director Chris was able to help me out and sort the issue! By the next day I was able to spin records again! Really happy and pleased with the quick service.

The store is very cool and the staff are very nice, I did have one problem with the labeling of an item but that was fixed rather quickly and the product page has since been taken down in less than 24 hours, the merchandise from bands is official which means its very high quality, apart from the labeling incident everything was great, will definitely be going back whenever I get the chance

So cool that vinyl is still so popular. This store is centrally located and has a great selection. They also offer proper hi-fi gear and a whole bunch of other interesting kitch to appeal to youth culture.

They have a great selection of records and books, but t-shirts are quite limited. They don't have a huge variety and the sizes are often sold out. All in all great shop and would definitely be back.

The new store layout is awesome. As one might expect, Real Groovy still has a wide selection of all kinds of records. A must to visit.

Great place for a rummage around in the bargain boxes, of which there are many! Looked in over a 3 day period, and came away pleased with some good LPs, including one done by my long lost cousin in Scotland! Pity i couldn't find the one i was searching for ( Don Everly, his first solo self titled album, if anyone knows where i can find it, I'd love to know...) If ever we are back in Auckland, I'll be heading back to this shop again. It's so nice to have the main sections in alphabetical order. Also friendly and helpful staff there, thanks to them for their patience. Don't hesitate to visit this remarkable shop, thoroughly enjoyed our visits, and heartily recommend it to everyone.

Has a clean and newer feel to it than the sadly departed old store. Also smaller and better organized. Still big, there's heaps of second hand and new vinyl.

It's promoted like a fan gift shop but it's mainly a vinyl and CD store. The movies fan articles are very limited and they are not as good neither hard to find in any other fan store. Only recommendable for vinyl or CD searches.

Love this place. If you are a "own" your own movie addict and a collector like me it is perfect. They have everything from 70s television series to the latest movies on order for you. The staff are excellent and you cannot beat the prices.

I've been a customer of Real Groovy for over 30 years. They have everything and if they don't, they get it for you. This place is built on passion for music and the one to go to for your next musical gold nugget.

Great place to buy old and new music and Dvd's. I have also purchased music tickets here in the past. They also have a great selection of second hand items. Staff are helping and well knowledgeable. The only problem i have is that with it being in the cbd, parking was a nightmare. I ended up driving back home and getting the train in the next day. Its not Real Groovy fault, its the same for all shops in the city.

The grand-daddy/mummy of vinyl and music on Queen Street. They've migrated a few times up the road, but are still going strong. For music shopping trips, an essential stop when in Auckland. Highly recommended.

Has a very well ordered stock, particularly of CDs and records, about 50 50, also DVDs, books and more. Their specials on mixed lots on TradeMe and in house sales are superb value.

An eclectic mix of the avant-garde and the quirky. The best place to shop when you're stuck for gift ideas. Hipster overdrive would be an understatement when it comes to describing their stock. The only place in Auckland where you'll find Dr Who merchandise in the same place as 78s...

First time being to Real Groovy since they moved from across the street, easy flow to the place to search for things nice layout. I was there specifically on a hunt for rare Metal & Punk Rock CD''s as they still continue to have a lot of those titles you can't find elsewhere. Also have cool stuff if you're into collectables like Comics - T Shirts - Figurine's - amongst other cool item's, good way to spend some time finding such jem's.

Best record shop I've ever been too. The selection here is perfect. You could spend a literal day digging. Don't waste your time upstairs, downstairs is where the gold is at.

Unfortunately I had to shop online but it was easy to find what normally would be hard to find LPs I was after. Within two days they were at my front door. Always the one stop shop for LPs

How many grooves are there on a vinyl record? One. Pretty groovy huh? I had a thought this morning as I was using a piece of paper as a coaster. "I need a proper coaster (that will stop the heat loss through transference onto my glass coffee table) so another thought struck me in Real Groovy "I wonder if they have coasters in here, a record or a disc shaped item lends itself to this purpose splendidly". And they did! I got a pack of 4 Pink Floyd 'Dark Side of the Moon' rubber material authentic vinyl looking coasters for $19.99. They've got the grooves and everything.

Fantastic collection of vinyl, helpful and friendly staff and an amazing points reward scheme for your out of control record addiction.

Fabulous place full of audio stuff. Great facilities turntables etc., to test your vinyl Lp' s and Ep's. Pick up a vintage bargain or something new. You could spend a long time browsing and choosing in here. Old established business with helpful staff

Large selection of vinyl, but I've been to other stores with better variety. Probably a step up from JB Hi-Fi. Artists I was looking for on vinyl included: Crippled Black Phoenix Somali Yacht Club Pelican Red Sparrowes ISIS Russian Circles (they did have the most recent release of this) Lisa Loeb Causa Sui Sungrazer Stoned Jesus (note: edited in response to comment)

Have bought lots of secondhand Kiwi Cd's from Real Groovy and they are always in excellent condition and reasonably priced.

A fantastic retreat from a soulless city. My go to whenever I visit Auckland. Their range is extensive, price competitive, staff knowledgeable and for some reason the fact the records are in the basement adds to the feeling of escape in the middle of the city. I don't feel I need to sell my first born to get that gem I've been looking for. I feel like I've been to a nostalgic retreat and re-energised when I leave and reenter the concrete jungle. And in the words of Jake Blues 'they got everything'

Old fashioned music store. Went in to store to purchase the new NOW That's What I Call Music 57 (NZ). Helpful, knowledgeable staff members. Highly recommend for any musical tastes and needs

A massive and amazing selection of just about everything. From the latest release cd's to really obscure vinyl. Only downside they have a load of floor space dedicated to joke stuff. But other then that everything else is awesome.

Real Groovy is an Auckland icon, a record store that sells so much more; pins, tshirts and memorabilia... Always worth a look if you're passing. The only trick is parking.

Come in about once a month, good selection of everything. If you're a fellow movie buff there's a decent selection of DVD's and blu-rays, some really quite cheap 👍🏻

One of my favourite stores in Auckland. They have a great range of stock including CDs/DVDs/Vinyl, t-shirts/merch, and my favourite part is their HUGE range of novelty/fandom items and the great selection of speciality books. Real Groovy is one of my top choices when Christmas shopping as they have a great range of stock (especially for those with more niche interests) and their price range varies a lot- no rip offs! Real Groovy is a great shop and I'll keep shopping here for sure.

I give Real Groovy 3 stars because of the incredible variety of all the products. So much music you would not find anywhere else. The lack of customer service from the staff is a real downer for me, the security guard especially makes you feel uneasy as you walk in. Would give this a definite 5 stars if it weren't for the lack of customer service.

Awesome for vinyl hunting, at reasonable prices. Real groovy also stocks tons of cds dvds ect and full of pop coulture collectables, the new building they moved to across the road is still a decent size to stock eveything....Only bummer is trying to get a park close by.

Good place, has good stock. Stuff is a bit on the expensive side but if that's a problem just go to the place up the lift from it, it's far cheaper but a little less organized and mostly (maybe all) second-hand.

Real Groovy Records has alot of old school TV program's I've haven't seen for years but it's just takes time to look for them because they have alot to look through

I think that this shop has the largest range of recorded music in the Southern Hemisphere. Second hand and new. L.P.s, singles, CDs, and cassettes . I don't recall if they have any 8-track cartridges or wax cylinders. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. They also have an extensive selection of second hand and new DVDs, Blu-rays and VHS tapes. Not forgetting the pop culture books, toys, turntables. and vinyl accessories. Web store as well as physical shop.

the good many genres available on vinyl possibly of listening to second hand records great selection of old releases the bad often overpriced records, non existent modern releases, staff doesnt know equipment they are selling, impossible to custom order vinyls, items sold as "new" often have scuffed packaging without ability to adjust price to already "adjusted" quality

I was blown away by how big the store was, and their range. Well worth a look. A little disappointed they didn't have any more Young Thug merch but what can ya do 🤷‍♂️

my favourite place in auckland, biggest range ever with nice cheap sales, all second hand vinyls are cleaned before sale so you wont have to worry about quality, unless they are unwrapped then they may need a clean, staff are very knowledgable and friendly, cd and vinyl range is unbeatable locally, only downside to this place is that it is quite a trek up queen street but its rewarding when you get there!

They've become a monster over the last few years and you can't quite find the bargains you once could but Real Groovy still slays in terms of selection, vibe and accessibility. There's just nowhere else in New Zealand quite like it.

Records, records, records! A fun shop, and dream shop for any record lover. Have such a wide range of records available. Don't expect staff to approach you if you have any queries and it also tends to be a bit difficult to try find someone to answer your questions.
