Reviews of Shakespear Regional Park
T.
More than an hour drive from east Auckland. There are several beautiful spots that you can choose. There's an area where you can fish then there's the area good for picnic and swimming. We came early so plenty of space and good spots to choose from under the trees, but area gets crowded towards the afternoon. BTW, if you get lucky you get to be swimming with some black/grey swans as well.
J.
This sanctuary is located in the northern region of Auckland on the Whangaparoa peninsula.
You are treated to sandy white beaches with clear water, plenty of shade under the decades and sometimes centuries old pohutukawa trees. Shared spaces and facilities and if you're going to have a BBQ and forget your grill, you'll find one there for you to use.
Walking trails take you to the top with a great view of the coast and as far as you can see. Make sure to leave any of your pets at home especially dogs, no matter the size. It is a strictly no dog sanctuary, not even in cars.
Also keep in mind to BRING A TRASH BAG so you can haul your trash out with you. So make sure you pack what you need and reusable containers to mitigate your use of single use items.
Have fun and enjoy.
B.
Leafy walking track. There is a little waterfall as well. Very good maintenance road and not very challenging walking track. It is great for families activities.
D.
An incredible adventure for any age and group of people with lots of parking available and the spots for camping and tents. The waterfall isn’t much worth seeing overall the top might be pretty good since we went on the bad weather so here some pics. Might visit again on the sunny day.
R.
If you want to be stunned by a peaceful view visit this place. I would say this is one of the most beautiful regional park in the world.
A.
a well-maintained track with stunning views. Maps are available at the starting points. And easy to follow coloured coded poles along the way to guide you. MAny loops to choose from for shorter walks.
R.
Beautiful spot, great for a day trip would also be awesome to camp here
R.
So fortunate to have a regional park near home. Beautiful/ nature environment. Great for a family day. Great walks and scenery.
A.
Great park where you can enjoy both the sea and picnic area. The sea is great at any time as it provides an area to enjoy for little ones during low tide and opportunities to have a good swim during high ties. The picnic area is shielded from the wind and has enough space to play some sport and enjoy a shade under the trees for food or gathering. There is also a great camping ground which looks isolated from the rest of the reserve but with a quick and easy access to the beach.
a.
We had an awesome time at Shakespeare Lodge. Facilities are great for big groups and the host family are so lovely, and helpful. There was so much to do, to relax, to challenge ourselves on the climbing wall (all ages) cool off at the beach, take beautiful walks through natural bush and scenic points. Would highly recommend for a break away to recharge
C.
Good facilities, private and quiet as the campground is gated and separate from the main public
A.
Wonderful place for a family picnic. Plenty of space and friendly peacocks around. Nice beach. Track a bit boring, from my view, but easy to walk and you may face a Kiwi. Also has beautiful small waterfall.
R.
Nice and easy loop track, with great views and friendly farm animals.
m.
nice afternoon spent here exploring the foreshore. There are plenty of walks and bike trails.
G.
A bit of a gem for Auckland, well worth the drive and visit.
K.
Great place to come for family picnics, can use bbqs supplied by park. For big groups can book picnic sites. walks through bush and paddocks. Can see native birds and plants. Great swimming and can walk around rocks to explore.
J.
Really wonderful regional park with a lovely walkway to another beach nearby. The beach is big with golden sand and clear water. Lovely experience here. We will definitely come back some other time.
J.
Spectacular regional park! Not many other places where one can spend time walking through a bush track, see amazing wildlife and finally visit the beach front! There are great facilities on site incl a boat ramp (be sure to check out the wartime bunker near the ramp & waterfall gully), also a couple of campsites available here both for campers and also suitable for large motorhomes. Plenty of parking available at each part of the park.
L.
One of my favourite getaways in Auckland. Plenty of walks to do and heaps to see, come on a sunny day- just remember to bring your togs!
T.
Beautiful beaches. Wonderful spaces for camping, swimming, and relaxing. Some nice walks in the area. Beautiful bird song in the park.
Y.
We went there on Christmas day. It was very sunny but we got a spot close to the toilet and the way to the beach and under the shade. There were many many people so parking was difficult. The beach at site 5 was beautiful, turquoise and white sand. It felt far away from everything which is what I wanted.
S.
Great open wind swept places with plenty of walks to experience. The Waterfall Valley Walk was a real surprise with a lovely rocky creek and very old trees. A relatively easy walk up to the lookout (30 mins).
A.
Beautiful park and beach, hasn't changed a lot over the years.
A.
Amazing walks, views forever. Take water as there are long walks if you want.
J.
Great place to relax with friends. Get there early in the summer as it is very popular
T.
Beautiful recreational park and a great track for running, hiking, walking, whatever your preference is. Nice bush walk takes you out onto a vast expanse of grass and views of the entire hauraki gulf. You may end up on Shakespear Beach which is a lovely spot for a swim.
A.
Another treasure in Auckland which is a must visit place. Situated in the Whangaparaoa peninsula, this regional park has something to offer for everyone; with beautiful bays/ beaches, pastures, native trees and bushes, cliffs, look out areas etc to name a few. Also, a place of historical importance, the site includes a defence area where you can see pill boxes and search lights used by NZ army during world war 2 to defend the potential threat from Japanese attack.
Car parks are available around the park at four sites. Ample of public toilets, well maintained and tidy. We started our walk from Waterfall gully. Took the Heritage trail combined with the lookout track, adding to approx 6 kms. Suits all age and health groups. There are a few steep walks but quite doable with average fitness. Don't forget your sun blocks, hats and water as the walk includes open spaces and pastures, can get real hot during summer.
Beginning of the Heritage trail is very interesting with lots of birds watching to do along with great scope for amazing photography ( see pics). The hill top gives an outstanding panoramic view of the Auckland City, Wenderholm, Waiheke, Coromandel etc on all sides(pics added). This also includes a farm where you could see sheeps, lambs and cows which will be interesting for children.
Time needed: Approx 2.5 hours incl breaks; though it depends on the trails you take.
Difficulty: Easy to medium
Distance from CBD: Approx 1 hour
B.
Lovely morning it was lovely to spend some time re-energising drinking in nature. Took a short bush walk up past a waterfall.
Being a bird sanctuary means we were able to see Bellbird's up close and hear there song high in the canopy over head.
Tui's, Wood pigeons, Fantails, Wax Eyes, Rosella's. Only regret not taking our proper camera.
So peacefull & cathartic - well worth doing.
M.
Great park and wildlife/bird refuge with easily walkable trails that are well marked and well maintained. We loved the panoramic views from the hills, the waterfall gorge, walking through the wooded trails and through the sheep farms, visiting the large beaches, and stopping for a picture in the famous giant picture frame! It is a great park for short circuit trails, day hikes, bird watching and photography, running trails, family outings, or just a nice beach visit. Also, one of the local favorite places for kite boarding, too. A park that you must visit when in the area north of Auckland
L.
Nice place for walking and running in the morning, great view.
T.
Only driven through it, another great reserve, hope it'll forever remain
L.
This is a fantastic location if yu want to watch the yatchs or hear the native birds, the views are amazing frm on the higher tracks. Do take sm binoculars with yu as its really worth it to see birds high up or the view.
There is also access to a lively beach with camping at the bk if yu want that sort of thing.
Had a really enjoyable day with a picnic lunch.
V.
Breathtakingly beautiful!
Perfect place to hike, swim and camp. No words or pictures can describe the beauty of this place. Need to see to believe.
Lot of public amenities available.
Definitely worth a visit or two!
5 mins walk from the nearest public transport.
R.
The place is very beautifulll! You can have a 360° view of the bay. It is amazing!! The beach is not so good for bath but it is good for marine sports.
B.
Lovely quiet park to have a bbq go for a walk throw a ball around or swim.enjoy the wildlife.also there maybe a chance you'll spot a real kiwi in a predator free zone public toilets available. Heaps of space for a group getogether. Walking tracks and a campground close by also. Definately worth a visit at the end of whangaparoa peninsula.
a.
Regional park and bird sanctuary. There are different trails in this park. Heritage trail takes you through rainforest like areas.
There is a waterfall gully area in this trail where the climb is not too steep. Look out trail is steeper and open, but gives a good view of beaches, Auckland skyline and bay area. But the road is steep and made of loose gravel.
j.
There's a real maze of tracks out here, nothing too long. Tracks are well formed - or across pasture, so its good for the whole family. Very family friendly, but remember its a sanctuary, definitely no pets!
L.
The Shakespear Regional Park hike loop takes you through beautiful native flora and rolling meadows with an abundant amount of pukeko and sheep along with a hearty variety of birds both native and nonnative. For information related to the hike itself check it out on AllTrails.
A.
A gorgeous park full of various types of birds and other wildlife. A long fence keeps pests and predators out. There are picnic spots and toilets available. Winds on top of the hill can be strong which is refreshing and the views up there are well worth it.
d.
Stunning views of Auckland city. Nice easy walk on a sunny day, with a beautiful beach to enjoy after.
#.
Would say it is a nice beach. Would say not so much for a good swim but good to relax around. Heaps of grass areas and BBQ avaliable!
During low tide is is popular for cockle hunting. 50 cap per person.
Would say a let down is the navigation of different tracks avaliable. We went for a walk but wasn't sure if that was the end or not as others mention a platform. But we could not.
Regardless.. Still a good time! Would reserve a whole day to explore!
r.
Just beautiful with sweeping views, great biking and walking trails, lovely beach, what more could you want
F.
I have walked all the park and it was a great hiking animals around you and the naturally beautiful and great experience.
The park have trucks to walk on it and really nice points to take pictures there.
G.
Awesome 👌 Family friendly for picnics, walking or both. We took picnic today, lots places to sit without feeling cramped. Lovely atmosphere and views overlooking Auckland harbour. A must go if you haven't been. 🙂 👍
P.
It's a great Park with lots of walking tracks across paddocks and native bush. Vivid bird life, pukekos, quail, seabirds. Tracks are with various lengths, giving amazing views to the sea around the peninsula and the neighbouring islands. Ideal for family walks most of it is walkable for little kids or with prams.
K.
Great place to spend a day with the family and friends another place for a barbecue party. Amazing views and plenty of space for games. Reasonable children's playground too. Good space for little kids to ride bikes or scooters. lots of parking avail available here. near here have a shakespear Lodge as well.
There some restrictions pets . They don't allowed any dogs over there.
Y.
I took my family and friends to visit Army bay very often. We like the view in different seasons. Kids can look for sea creatures on low tide.
K.
Awesome spot to camp especially if you have small kids, the beach is tidel so make sure you check the tides out when booking.
A.
Beautiful well maintained park with parts of beach, bush and farmlands. Its a big park with a options for walking, biking and beach activities. Huge camping and barbeque area. We did a big walk around the whole park the only part to be aware is walking through farmlands full of cows especially when they are all chilling around the stiles you have to cross. Great summer day activity to do close to Auckland.
W.
I drive past the golf course and it looked like a golf lovers dream. The locals let me know that the whole area is protected and I saw the black swans in the sea. Orca and dolphins are spotted there regularly early morning.
K.
A great little day trip if you feel like heading out of the city for a bit. Beautiful spot for a wander along the beach and a nice shortish walk around the hills - easily done in 2 hours. Part of the track is made up of wooden board walk, other bits are clearly marked pebble trails, but the majority is grassland. Beautiful scenery - would definitely recommend.
L.
Had a lovely day looking around. Would be a great place to stay, swim, picnic and tramp.
This is a place where memories are made.
M.
Astonishing place amazing views and landscape a real natural sanctuary for birds, you can enjoy them all around you everywhere, but if you have the strength try to explore and exactly on the other side of the car entrance you can discover a little forest of trees of a beautifully silver colour, in winter you can see their leaves flying away, they are not leaves but multicoloured parrots. Even the kids in the local YMCA centre can enjoy sports and nature and of course all is completed by a beautiful seasides places!
S.
Top raited beach and park for a family day out, leave early chill ,swim , sun bath, treck and so on. Such a relaxing place, for a Saturday day out, lucky if its sunny as you will love taking a swim.
Highly recommend, 1 hour ride from City.
D.
Beautiful park with so much to see. Lots of sheep, bushes and exciting views, as well as a few beaches to explore. If you love walking then definitely check this place out. Be sure to bring some sun screen and water as you can end up walking for hours. Dogs are allowed but are prohibited in certain areas.
M.
The perfect example of how to manage a public space. There are outdoor activities to do on the park like mountain biking or some challenging trails but also wonderful beaches which are safe and great for families
M.
Beautiful walk. 30 mins to the regional farm area and it is absolutely beautiful the whole way. It does say that prams and wheelchairs are ok but unfortunately they only get you as far as the waterfall then there are stairs the rest of the way.
a.
Very nice place for family or a group, good for picnic, swimming, sight seeing, outdoor sports etc
S.
Great beach to kayak because the water is calm with no waves. A lot of land to play cricket, volleyball, rugby etc. Not a bad place to blast some music, swim, play and eat. We found parking quite easily but maybe we got lucky on Christmas. I did find trouble connecting to mobile networks but it was a good getaway :)
B.
A nice quiet place for a walk. Went through to the furthermost carpark which led to the start of the waterfall gully walk. There are multiple options for the walks, most of which go through farm land. Keep an eye out for coloured poles which are signposts for the different walking tracks. I almost got lost trying to find the lookout from the waterfall walk. There are also signposts which give you directions of the different tracks. It looks like the main trail walks are on gravel roads or paddocks.
I managed the short walk to the lookout which overlooked Te Haruhi bay. It started to drizzle so didn't manage to walk a complete circuit of the heritage trail.
Nice place to spend the day to just walk around.
M.
Marvelous place, white sand, perfect to swim, bring everything to have a yummy picnic on the grass, at the beach or there is tables and chairs. Amazing place 😍
E.
Best place we've stayed at...great walks both hills and beach with beautiful scenery. Birdlife is awesome with some I've not seen before. Came for 1 night but decided to stay another😁
C.
Great place to just relax, have a picnic, or go for a walk. Beautiful coastline, seashells everywhere, and quiet shores for the kiddos to play. Put on some sunscreen, park for free, and enjoy the shade of the trees.
P.
I could be wrong but while we were hiking along its tracks, it felt like this is one of the biggest parks in Auckland. It is huge! No doubt about that. plenty of different tracks you may follow. Bring plenty of drinking water.
There are plenty of camping grounds too. There's a camp for vans. There are also for tents where there are barbecue pits.
L.
Beautiful beach, lovely open grass to picnic, benches to sit and a couple of built in BBQ grills.
N.
We visited this beautiful park on a Xmas day with friends and family fir a bbq. A bit windy but what a great day we had!!! Great facilities in the park whether you wanna bbq yourself or bring your own food. Can collect pipis on a low tide. Even visited us in that day
D.
Stunning place to head out to have a picnic!
M.
Nice place for friends and family bonding! Electric BBQ grills provided. BYO trash bin and cleaning tools.
Suggestion: just bring foil and oil.. much easier and convenient
J.
Love that it's a sanctuary. No dogs, gated. Lovely beach and awesome big trees park. And NO HOUSES!! Yay!! Thanks to government and volunteers for keeping this precious public spaces.
d.
Nice park with gravel paths through fields of sheep. Good views over to the city and north coast. Bird sanctuary has recent breeding pairs. Toilets at car park area. Beach and picnic area on south shore. Must see
C.
Stunning beach, picture perfect. Free electric BBQs available, but they are very busy on hot days. You can take your own portable gas bbq (no charcoal allowed). Get there early to secure a good shady spot under the trees.
S.
Lovely park. Shallow water makes it family safe, great place for kids of all ages to play. Baby Pukekos this time of year.
Lots of nesting birds.
紐.
Very beautiful place with lovely beaches. During the summer is one of the popular spot for day trips. You can spend 2 to 4 hours to walk around the the track. In my opinion, it one of must visit place in Auckland. The most amazing thing, it’s free to visit. VH
E.
Great huge reserve
D.
Really enjoy heading out to the beach for a swim on a sunny day. Always had nice calm sheltered waters. Really tranquil park which you walk across onto the beach, and some nice walks to be had. Take a swim before, or after, or both.
W.
Plenty of open spaces with access to beaches, grass areas, bbq and toilet facilities. Plenty of in site parking. Arrive before 10am on weekends and public holidays to get a good spot in the shade.
S.
Loved the views from the reserve. This space nestled away from the hustle of the city is a perfect spot to get away from everyone. It’s mostly secluded but has some of the best views around. Don’t forget to take a photograph at the iconic frame as a souvenir!
Y.
Really nice walks with amazing view from everywhere, the beach is really nice lot of camping space and the best part it wasn't very crowded
M.
This park is big lots of trees around there. Their beach is nice and white sand. They don't have shower only toilet.
B.
Nice place for a summer vacation, except an old lade drove her car off the car park and into the camping area, nearly flattened a tent. People, don't sit near the car park.
G.
A Nice and peaceful place to visit with treks to see interesting historical sites. Today was a good day for a walk.
A.
I think it’s amazing place to spend the whole day with friends or family. Many different types of birds. I will definitely go back there!
A.
This place is must visit, if you want to capture auckland city and rangitoto island in one frame. Several picturesque locations and short walks. Barbeque area for picnic people. It has got 360 degree view of all nearby islands to auckland city. Breath taking views
A.
While a bit of a drive to the far end of Whangaparaoa peninsula, there is something overwhelmingly peaceful and calming about Shakespeare Park. A lot of open space, the sea, beaches, and nature reserves to protect threatened native species creates a pleasing environment. Apart from the summer holidays, the park is rarely crowded. Great for walks, some marked, and beach visits. Lot of grass for running around. Heritage building.
m.
amazing. Good place to relax.
not too far the Auckland CBD.
r.
Good location. Ample parking and nice shady trees to have picnics under. Public toilets and shower facilities are ok. Nice sandy beach.
S.
Beautiful spot, just up the road. Lovely beaches, clean loos and plenty of shelter under the trees if you need it
C.
So beautiful. Great variety of native trees and huge variety of birds. Remain respectful (clean your shoes properly at the cleaning stations/don't leave rubbish/ be quiet and keep your distance from the animals-sheep, lambs, bulls) and we will continue to have a beautiful reserve to visit!
D.
My family and I enjoy foraging for cockles on the beach at Shakespear Regional Park in the late spring and well into the summer. The seagulls and black swans provide a beautiful backdrop against the serene blue sea, while the delightful song of various birds soothes the senses. It is a fun and rewarding activity that usually results in the freshest spaghetti alle vongole for dinner! Be sure to keep to the limit of 50 cockles per person and to avoid picking the smaller, underdeveloped shells. Although a delightful activity, we must make sure we keep the practice a sustainable one!!!
C.
Loving the new boardwalks along the dogs'on-leash tracks between the main road and the lawns by the beach (easy to park east end) for use all year round. Good one AC!
P.
Awesome Place for Family Activities Away from home.
V.
Beautiful beautiful, the view of the beach and the smell of nature yes yes yes!!
Extremely highly recommend this beautiful beach especially for a big allday family.trip
N.
This place is amazing! Very well fenced and regulated from outside to keep all the wildlife safe and secure. Plenty of parking and large grounds for family picnics, and easy access to the beach which is also in a stunning location. Will definitely be returning here in the summer to enjoy more memories with the family.
A.
Outstanding regional park with all sorts of wildlife and protected bird life. Feel so lucky to have lived close. The surrounding beaches are beautiful and good for children. Plenty of BBQs available.
M.
Beautiful. This open sanctuary is a treasure thanks to the predator proof fence. I'm happy to see the saddle backs and red crowned parakeets. There are short (5min) and long (1 hour ±) walks available through native bush and farmland with a lookout point.
L.
Beautiful place to Take you family for a day out and a BBQ
K.
Great place for a swim and plenty of room for picnics and games. Lots of shadey trees but plenty of room for a tent. Parking available for camper vans. Lots of walks to be had and a camping ground at far end. Great place to go for either a day or longer
A.
Great spot, plenty of open spaces. Lovely walks. Good to see the coastal birds protected. Shallow beaches good for swimming.
M.
Beach good for kids, calm water and easy access. Park has huge space and magnificent view.
M.
Delightful park - native plants, native birds, cows, sheep, rolling hills, and vast expanse of sea. So much to explore, even digging up some cockles!
S.
Best time place to spend time with friends and family
V.
Absolutely stunning scenery. Highly recommend for a two day journey for hiking and bird watching. This is a bird reservation park, so no dogs allowed and the entrance is closed at 7 p.m. However, if you want a peaceful camping beach site and not so far from Auckland, this is the place
M.
Coming from Auckland by pulic transportation is a real journey. But the outcome makes it all worth it. A secluded beach with incredible views, possibility to catch the sunset, and in the far-off distance, the city skyline. We had an amazing time
T.
Great escape from the city. Camping is good with normal flush toilets, better then normal ablutions for DOC.
A.
Great park, very clean, beautiful scenery, some of the walking routes could be better signposted
B.
We walked along the beach. We had a picnic and we extended our walk into the countryside. It was stunningly beautiful and incredibly peaceful.
J.
Very relaxing place. Got enough places to park, and enough places for everyone. Just note that there are no trash bins, so you need to bring your own trash back home.
T.
Amazing place with a wide range of facilities and nature. Whole park is fenced off from pests so native wildlife flourishes! Highly recommended. Check website for full details
K.
Beautiful walk with amazing views at the top. One of the best places to get lost!
N.
Great Regional Park with 3 walking tracks. Very well cared for. Make sure to clean your shoes to help prevent the spread of kauri dieback - well maintained stations throughout to do this.
m.
Great beach with lots of space to hang out and chill with friends & family. Have been coning to this beach since i was a child and it never disappoints!
h.
So nice and clean place, the beach is clean with the clear water. Good for gatherings and camping! We love the place so much!
A.
We went to this place last year and till now we wish to go every month.
It's quite and peaceful place with lots of nature attractions and you can feel a quite envoierment in you.
Must try this place
R.
A pristine park made up of farm pasture, pockets of bush, a waterfall, a campground, 2 beaches, numerous tracks and a rocky coastline. There's an abundance of native birdlife that includes tui, pukeko, kereru, kiwi and piwakawaka. Cattle and sheep (with lambs in spring) appear comfortable with people walking past.
C.
One of the most beautiful parks in Auckland if not NZ! Amazing views of the harbour, city, rangitoto & the animals!
R.
Secluded slighty. So easy to drive there. hardly anyone around. A few beaches around and lots of parking and toilets. Great for a half day hike, picnic, school trip etc. Watch weather can get windy. Great views of hauraki gulf.
M.
Beautiful native bush, sea and views. Well worth a visit! Very stunning!
R.
Great place for a short or few hours walk. Great views 360 from the Lookout.
R.
A wonderful place for a walk - and well signposted so you do not get lost.
m.
Beautiful place for all ages. Plenty to do if u like walking and exploring. Or a very relaxing place to do nothing.
P.
Situated 40min drive North of Auckland around the Hauraki Gulf is a beautiful quiet tranquil place.
Plenty of native trees, flora and fauna along with a vast amount of walks complimented by native birds.
If waking up to the sound of nature's symphony orchestra of Cicadas, Tui, NZ Dotterel, Pukeko and the waves crashing ashore then I would without a doubt recommend this place to any traveller as I plan to return to this remote location
J.
Stunning area for walks, picnics, encountering native wildlife. Plus amazing views over the Hauraki Gulf and islands.
F.
Nice view, good picnic spot, wonderful place for a family or friends day out.
M.
Nice picnics place... Lots of trees in front of the beach...
Must take pictures in the frame...
E.
Amazing view, plenty of great tracks, great for families, a touch of nature.
S.
What's not to love about this place? Stunning scenery and beautiful walks and hikes through bush or over paddocks, a selection of stunning New Zealand beaches to swim at: take your pick!
R.
Beautiful an peaceful I had the beach to myself for over 30 mins
J.
Good beach very safe to swim in, really clean water grass is very dry and it is very yellow. Great mountain to climb and to get really good views.
a.
Awesome place !! Various walking trails, peaceful, relaxing, clean, refreshing and never get bored.
ن.
In my opinion, i think this is the best park in Auckland city
I well come back to this nice place.
M.
Absolutely stunning park. Clean, green and well maintained. Lovely safe beaches and grassed areas and this stunning tree!!!!
A.
Beautiful park with a lot of animal and a big beach... If you want to have a walk or spend a good time is the perfect place... Barbecue near the beach available!!
T.
Beautiful as always, but sitting down to eat at one of the picnic tables dang annoying flies out in the open couldn't believe, and wondered where they came from
Other than that awesome place, maybe next time have lunch before.
G.
Electric BBQs, beautiful views of Auckland from afar, plenty of grass and trees, toilets, and wildlife makes Shakespear Park a great place for family and friends picnics for hours. We didn't get to go on the nature walks yet, but there are a few of these mild hiking paths that allegedly have great cliffside views (and birds and such to spot in this eco sanctuary). I'll update this review once we do those in the future!
p.
Fantastic beach. Views of the Auckland tower across the bay. Very quiet
B.
Amazing place for family n friends.. Loved it😍
H.
Amazing park ever to feel nature very closely 😀😀😀
And Shakespear beach is also Clean and peace full.
X.
The place is simply breathtaking. Great view, great hike, Mother Nature have never been this beautiful. Definitely a place not to be miss when you’re in Auckland. Do apply sufficient sunblock in case of being a red lobster at the end of the day!
D.
Camping there is really good, good prices, has a toilet block, and I liked how it was in a secluded area for campers only.
C.
Beautiful place with very scenic hiking trails.
R.
Great place for the dogs to run around.
Need some bins though.
S.
Beautiful, peaceful and wonderful!
J.
It is a really good place to go for a long walk. The beach is not too bad but you have to go quite far away from the coast to swim as the water level is quite low even at high tide.
L.
It is a very nice beach Very well looked after by Auckland council I would highly recommend it to freedom campus
J.
North and South facing beaches, large car parks, toliets and showers - plus camping, walks and more on site.
M.
It is a very pleasant park to be visited. In addition to being a sanctuary, it is possible to use the park areas to practice water sports and others. Great
B.
Great walk on a good day. You can choose from a easy walk on a gravel track to a intermediate walk. Some really good sites and lookouts over towars the city.
B.
Nice place for camping at holidays. Enjoy fresh air and long beautiful beach.
R.
It's a go to place absolutely fantastic scenery 5 stars 🌟
M.
Really nice place to spend some time on the sun, or either stay in the shade. Loads of trees which give natural shade; BBQs which can be used by visitors and also decent toilet facilities which are a bit outdated.
B.
Great park! Very clean. Lovely Hiking Tracks and Beautiful Veiws.
N.
There are several free public BBQ equipments and wood burners as well as toiletries. However, the beach is not really good for swimming at Site 1. Too much verges and there is a gutter which is black water and smelly
F.
my son just loves the beach..love the weather, the heat and the wind. It was a very fine day 😍
O.
Good place for swimming, picnic and view
S.
So beautiful 😍 definitely worth the drive.
Some areas can be rocky so be careful.

N.
Loved every bit of this place. Beautiful birds all around. Looking forward to visiting again.
L.
Good for picnics or day trips !
M.
Beautiful site best to stay Sunday onwards weekends are very crowded. There seem to be a problem with blocked toilets but I reported the problem and they were soon fixed. Popular with school groups but they were quiet and well behaved. Good safe swimming and very pleasant walks. And only an hour from Auckland.
D.
Expansive seaside New Zealand at its best. Start with seeing the sunrise from the top lookout, and then breakfast by the beach.
c.
Beautiful spot to take the family for a bbq and swim and love that it's a sanctuary.love seeing the pea hen
T.
Good walk. Awesome view. The down side is the waterfall. Very small and you can't swim in it
A.
Really nice place to run around, play ball and walk along the beach. There are clean and accessible facilities there as well.
S.
I absolutely loved staying at this place, in the self contained vehicle area. It’s a$20 per night stay, & well worth the fee for the beauty & surrounding nature. There are Pukeko in abundance, fresh shellfish, clear water & peaceful surroundings at night.
During the day it’s really busy with all kinds of visitors. I’d recommend a night away in this idyllic spot.
A.
One of the best parks in the area. However, it is a little bit moody over there in winter.
A.
Beautiful any time of the year. Everybody enjoying some spring sun during lockdown level 4. Great for dogs and the whole family. Always clean and well maintained.
R.
Beautiful place. Heaps of space.
F.
Beautiful views from the hill top Look Out track at Shakespeare park.
D.
Awesome place for trek on a nice sunny day.
G.
Good for walk and picnic spot . Nice beach there for swimming
C.
This place is the shizzle. Bought my first house in nz because of this place. Got married here. Brought my kids here for their first adventure. Will likely have my ashes scattered here. Recommend!
j.
Absolutely gorgeous area for camping. Wildlife is protected by rodent/pest proof fencing so NO dogs allowed. Pristine white sand beach/bay looking out to Rangitoto Island. Very safe beach for swimming. Book overnight camping through District Council. No freedom camping overnight allowed
L.
Great camping and walking plus beautiful beaches
R.
This place is the same view which you can image from the painting. Clear water and beach. Have a toilet to bath.
A.
Amazing views, great location for family and kids.
V.
Beautiful park with good walkways and nice views
S.
The most lovely place for a perfect evening
A.
Amazing location for camping or for just a picnic under the trees. Watch out for the birds as you will see different species that are endemic to nz. We loved this national park, it's green with beaches and family friendly. I highly recommend a visit!
W.
Nice walk, around about 8-19km, you have got chance to meet 🥝 :)
C.
Beautiful beach. Remover only 50 PP each person...
b.
Beautiful place.
Best for relaxing with animals!
Three kind of tracking course are also awesome!!
Just enjoy the scenery:)
E.
Beautiful place
Highly recommend going on a sunny and not windy day
i.
A well kept park, relaxing atmosphere, beautiful birds and lovely beaches. Go and enjoy the tracks
L.
Fantastic, beautiful beaches.
If you are planning on doing the walks take WATER if you think you have enough water you don't 😂 not a lot of shade on the walks so sunblock is a must!
Take a camera the views are stunning.
V.
Very nice beach and park... For vacation... 😁
S.
On a beautiful day - this is a beautiful beach to go spend time with family!
S.
What a special place, great hiking
A.
Amazing views from this lovely spot. The beach is great and there's lots of interesting and easy walks around the headlands. The campground is great to stay at. Very quiet and sheltered, and right on the beach. The facility block was clean and well maintained. The camp hosts were lovely and friendly, and very helpful.
S.
Very clean beach. Clear water. Just live this place
G.
A really amazing reserve with so many different ways to enjoy it. We love walking around from army Bay at low tide and then up over the hill to the car park again. It takes hours but it's a truly diverse and fun walk if you're up for it. 👍
S.
Couldn't find a darker place to do astrophotography near Auckland.
A.
Stunning views and wonderful walking trails
t.
Quiet beach with shallow waters at low tide. Great views to the city on a clear day
C.
Great Tracks with views. IF they are moving livestock Don't open the gate !
A.
Yeah it's Okay. All the rocks are slippery as. Midges galore. But quiet.
F.
Enjoy every trail and love spending time at this beautiful park. However, very disappointing that the Lookout “tower” has been closed for months and you have to walk all the way there to know this! Hopefully it will be sorted soon 🙏
M.
Beautiful
B.
A fantastic resource that is worth more than one visit.
y.
Alot of wild birds.
Plenty of board walks.
Allowed dog on leash.

S.
Beautiful place to visit ...near to auckland central... make sure what is the last bus to comeback if you go by public transport.
T.
Nice views and nice beaches. Great for walking and mountain biking.
N.
It's pet free zone, but some people bring there pet into the park. Not very happy with that.
R.
Beautiful scenery, beaches and walks. Lots of wildlife and great for camping, snorkelling and bike-riding.
S.
Incredible! Definitely coming back to do the walks
N.
Very peaceful place,my thing to escape.
l.
It’s a great place .
H.
It was amazing place with very nice nature, you can hear the gorgeous sound of birds and enjoy the sound of breeze, a lot of parking is available and it is free entrance.
S.
The tide was low and water was quite unclear, so unsure how it would be in high tide. The toilet facilities are fairly rudimentary. There are no shower facilities for post swim in the ocean. There's a good flat area for BBQs and summer games with the kids and plenty of trees for shade from the sun. Plenty of parking.
B.
Wonderful place. Beautiful walks. Amazing views. Well maintained park, with a surprise around every bend. We walk here regularly, and it never disappoints.
R.
Wonderful place to visit if you're in Auckland. Huge picture frame to frame the view and to have photos taken in
J.
Great views of the surrounding area. Decent bike paths. Recommend.
R.
This is a really good park. We came here for camp in year 7 and there were so many activities. Some things I suggest you do there is kayaking and sailing. But to be honest this beach is perfect for basically everything. You can even camp here! It also has a very large space so you don’t need to be too close to other groups of people. Also, if you are lucky, you might be able to see some peacocks.
V.
What a wonderful park! Well kept, clean, sheep in abounds and beautiful Victorian architecture that makes you feel like you are in a classical film.
The best part is that it is so child friendly, with a well maintained play area for children and huge open fields for people of all ages to enjoy, from kick boxers practicing under some trees to kids playing a friendly game of crickets with their elders, its how a park should be.
j.
This place is beautiful and perfect, I enjoyed
K.
Absolutely loved this beach. Nice and flat beach for families. Lovely place for a quiet walk.
S.
Lovely clean beaches with all the facilities like parking, caravan camping sites and toilet facilities.
e.
What a beautiful park. Awesome for short walks and stunning views.
m.
Great beaches, good tracks. Walked to Waterfall Gully and 15 minutes further with my visually handicapped daughter, no problems with track. Obviously best to see Waterfall Gully after rain, but enjoyable peaceful walk through natives
F.
Ufff so far so good.. nice facilities...clean areas....
P.
Beautiful area of forest and farmland, well signposted hiking routes and stunning beaches
V.
Beautiful park with some really nice walks between the green hills. Lots of birds
l.
Excellent. We stayed in SCC secure area with views across park to water. Toilets across from us in public area. Great gas BBQS there, well serviced by Park staff and picnic tables. Lovely beach.
M.
Plenty of family fun here. Great, safe, and super shallow for toddlers 👌🌊
B.
Amazing views all over the place, plus the barbecue stations and picnic tables were so useful. Handy free maps provided. Kept very clean and well-maintained. A favourite spot to enjoy on numerous occasions. My favourite park in Auckland.
A.
A good place to do BBQ and hiking.
N.
Absolutely beautiful place. The roads and bathrooms are well maintained and there is plenty of parking- they have some great walks and a small waterfall only five minutes from the parking lot. This is a nature/bird life reserve so no dogs are allowed, and make sure you scrub your shoes before heading in/out to protect our kauri trees. Great for a day trip out walking or a family picnic by the beach.
W.
Must visit! Majestic view
H.
Approx. 2 hours walk if you start from the car park. It should be easy walk for everyone.
K.
Really good for parking good for a nice walk, you can even use the Motor Home for camping or just for the weekend. Beautiful beach very safe plenty of shade under the trees before going down to the beach have toilets and open showers good for picnics and BBQ s just love coming here.
Z.
It was a long drive after taking the exit from the motorway but it really worth it (we went to just end of the peninsula) . It had beautiful beaches with shallow water that my 3 year old son could play in water easily. There is also nice shady areas for picnic and play.
P.
Went with a friend to Shakespear Regional Park on a beautiful sunny weekend.
The beach there was beautiful and there was plenty of parking for big families.
There were barbecues available for families to cook their food and a lot of shade to cool down after spending time swimming and sunbathing.
This is a beautiful place to take the family.
D.
Beautiful great swimming, handy, good walks short and longer.
P.
Beautiful park to do some good walks and runs. Incredible lookout at the top. Waterfall on the way up is only 10 minutes from the car park so accessible to easily take the kids to for a splash.
J.
Great place for an adventure, far enough away from the city to feel like you have left it. Great views
S.
Good place. I go there quite often with family.
B.
Great park with warm water beaches. Clean and well maintained. Easy to walk around to see the sights through some hills can get steep in places so wear appropriate foot wear. Plenty of parking and can get busy at weekends. Campsite is there as well so you can book ahead and camp there inside the protected area.
J.
Real nice place for a walk, lots going on and lots of history too.
T.
Awesome all round beach! Only thing is they don't have any showers. But a big tap outside which is unpleasant to hose kids down under . But awesome beach! Kepts clean and tidy with great views .
W.
Great place for families to go. Best to go before 10am to get a good spot.
M.
Beautiful, clean an just all round wonderful family fun day out!
A.
The Bush walk is great either during the day of at night! During the day the natural bush is scenic and full of bird life. The lookout at the top is also well worth the walk. During the night you can often see glow worms. The park is large and good for a picnic and a day at the beach. Really love the view.
J.
A winning combination of beach, bush and beautiful views. Sandy beaches and a great mix of trails gives something for all abilities. Fantastic for running, walking or just chilling out but don't forget to use the sprays on the bush sections to protect our precious kauri.
P.
Good family day out, lots to see and do.
C.
A good walk through bush.. good sightings of native birds, little waterfall, great views from the lookout. There's also the beach where you can watch kite surfers doing their tricks or meet the friendly peahens I have been many times and have enjoyed every time
W.
Beautiful grounds, classy old buildings with character and a beautiful bay. Plenty of activities for all ages. Impressed with the recycling and use of food scraps to feed the local pigs.
So a very nice historical area to play, walk and relax. Will go back again next year. W
A.
The regional park is absolutely beautiful place for family and big group. It located NE end of Whangaparaoa area. The view of Auckland from this place is beautiful and has beautiful clean beach. Big camping area for families. Highly recommended for the day trip as well. This is about 1 hour of drive from Auckland CBD.
M.
Fantastic for picnic and kids
S.
Drop dead gorgeous! Amazing 'lookout walk' (45-50mins) with 360 degree views plus a lookout post. Relatively easy walk with some steep areas (but not too bad). Perhaps not for suitable for wheel chairs and heavy prams due to farm gates and a few stairs.
E.
Very beautiful.. lovely for a trek and walk
T.
Very nice regional park to spend a lovely day. Park is huge and clean. Huge parking space. Toilets and changing facilities available. Nice family beach. Some nice bush walk paths. Well marked open walk to lookout uphill goes from farm where one can see sheep’s grazing closely. Wool shed close to park where one can know more about sheep hair shedding. Nearby bay’s are worth to visit.
H.
It's the most fantastic place
Beautifully kept 🚻
Fabulous pohutukawa trees
G.
Excellent regional park: good parking available, lots of grassy areas - along with shade/trees and gas BBQ points. 2 sets of public toilets & changing facilities. Good-sized beach with calm clear waters. Very family-friendly, and popular with kites/kite-surfers, paddle boarders and similar. Some good walking trails too!
L.
Awesome walk and amazing views
T.
So great to have this park right on the coast. Walking the nature trail is a refreshing getaway from the bustle of town to peacefulness and birdsong. You can walk up to a lookout point with expansive views of the surrounding Gulf. You have the option of cycling this particular section. Also interesting with some WW2 history. Has a very nice safe sandy beach below with open grass park areas in which set up a picnic.
F.
Beautiful landscape and great for a day trip from Auckland.
A.
Great experience to visit this place you will live it 😀
s.
Huge picnic area with public restroom, bbq stove beach and parking areas
G.
Great place for a walk with fantastic views from the look out - truly 360 °. If you do the Tiritiri track, from the car park it is a minimum of two hours round trip. Two and a half is comfortable. The steep slope down from the look out is best left to the final descent, not an easy start to the walk.
Otherwise chill out on the beach, a beautiful location for some quiet down time. We saw black swans and a pair of nesting dotterels.
Take your own food and drink.
M.
Great place to relax, just don't expect to have a picnic here as the birds will be presenting a little challenge to you. They roam freely so there's a fair amount of droppings everywhere and they are very much used to humans and getting free feeds.
J.
The 40-minute drive out from Auckland was well worth it. This is a beautiful reserve with amazing views. If you're visiting make sure you look for that giant picture frame with the beautiful landscape in the background -- it's in this gated part. It shows an amazing view of beaches, pastureland and native bush.
J.
Beautiful views. Great place to spend the day.
M.
Cool place that can get you up close and personal with the herd🐏
L.
Beautiful place for family beach day. Very safe swimming for children good BBQ facilities nice clean toilets.. A top place to visit
p.
I found this place to be full of all activities hiking, swimming, picnic and beautiful views. I would say it is a right vacation spot to go with family and friends.
S.
Great Park and beach areas
J.
Awesome views and clean and neat facilities
S.
Beautiful little sanctuary with a small waterfall and lots of birds flittering around.
N.
Gorgeous landscape and beautiful beach!
J.
Beautiful area we enjoyed exploring it as a family
C.
Shakespear is amazing and incredibly beautiful! I really enjoy the lookout walk and the beach with the bbqs is ALWAYS amazing for family beach days. little lambs are around today. Way over 50 and sooo cute
B.
Fond memories, favourite feature being the hiking trails.
Best experienced in the early morning hours, a nice cool ocean breeze as you walk down the beach and up to one of several walking trails.
Looking forward to having a camping session here
E.
Fishing, snorkelling, swimming, beach day, frisbee, soccer, BBQ, picnic, waterfall gully, lookout, walking tracks.... What's not to love. But please take your rubbish with you. I see to many visitors disrespecting our beautiful parks/beaches by leaving behind all their wrappers, food scraps, fishing lines etc and respect the boundaries for our birds when nesting. It's a beautiful place so long as we all help to keep it that way ☺️
T.
A beautiful regional park on the peninsula in whangaparoa. All sorts of native birds can be seen here including kiwi.
Heaps of open spaces and plenty of shade to take a picnic lunch. Calm waters at the beachside so very safe for children.
Highly recommended😁
M.
Lovely beach, super busy and windy
J.
Camped here for two nights. Great facilities for family camping. The campground has flushable toilets, rubbish bins and running water. There is also BBQs at the public part of the park free to use. Great scenery and the kids enjoyed the walking tracks and beach at Te Haruhi Bay. Highly recommend!
N.
Best Park and beach for Family around Auckland. And large groups.
G.
Beautiful surroundings and a great walk to a stunning view.
M.
Quite and peaceful park with great beach.
V.
Few camping sites, have some track for take a walk, and nor too crowded in that area
L.
It's a lovely place to bring your lover or family here. The sea is very beautiful. There is a lookout point and the view is amazing. Free BBQ facilities available near the 3 beaches. When strong wind blows, your food will be cooked very slowly. Thus cover your food during cooking is always recommended. Do clean up the BBQ plate after you.
J.
A nice place, great view. These two paintings were painted by my mother.
g.
A very nice park being surrounded by the ocean. The information pamphlet with very clear map for different tracks. There is a track that crossing the fenced pasture where you can close contact with the flocks and herds. The new born little sheep are so cute. I was afraid that they’d get scared when seeing humans. But they didn’t. Two of them went towards us, seemed like want to know us, so meekness.
How big and large the kauri are! And how serious the disease spreads out in almost every kauri in this park. We saw the dead kauri branches falling on the ground everywhere. This is the worst case I’ve seen in different parks.
A small fall in the bush. There is a track leading there.
I remember there were peacocks in this park years ago. People could picnic with these beautiful birds by then. But can’t find one this time.
If going there in a windy day, hooded wind coat is a must.
S.
Visited for the first time.. it was massive.. huge crowd.
A.
Good place to have a shade, but no restrooms available all over, some spots have, but not sufficient for the crowd you get on weekends.
Garbage bins another trouble
Be mindful of these
S.
Always love to visit this place.
M.
Amazing Regional Park. It’s our first park to visit after we arrived in Auckland. The scenery is beyond expectation. Family can choose several activities - picnic, hiking, swimming, etc...
J.
Peace of mind place. Weather dependent of course...
Nature at it's best, magnificent views, tui were lovely.
The baby pied stilt was the highlight.
The grounds are kept beautifully
tidy.
Please make sure the baby survives. !!
E.
Plenty of walking tracks. Lots of space for family picnic with plenty of room for the kids to go play a game of rugby or pop over the dunes for swim.
E.
Fabulous day! Great safe swimming place and family day!
J.
Always a pleasure to visit here. Great place for a short MTB ride around the cliffs and through the fields, or a nice jog or walk before a dip in the sea. Always plenty of parking space whenever I've been here.
C.
Whangaparaoa is a beautiful peninsular, at the end of the peninsular is Shakespear national park where you can walk or bike ride around easily, wildlife trails are clearly marked and as it's the endowment of the peninsular you can't get lost as it's one big loop. Beautiful bays and inviting sea if you want to take a dip. There is also a cockling bay where you can gather cockles to take home and eat.
N.
A great place for a family picnic. Trees provide cooling shade and a pretty cool place for cockle gathering. However there is a 50 per person limit. A tip. Take a picnic, a portable gas, some chopped garlic and parsley, butter and devour the freshly gathered cockle. Yummmmm
R.
One of the most beautiful parks in Auckland area!
G.
Another place of beauty in the land of the long white cloud. Would definitely recommend coming in the warmer months say November through March
M.
Amazing.
A.
The park is an excellent place to go picnic. It is well served with toilets and stoves for barbecue. You can see lots of sheeps and there is a couple hiking ranges.
M.
Really big spacious area, walks for different fitness levels. Excellent panoramic views.
Keep in mind this is a native bird sanctuary, pets are not permitted in this area - leave them at home, you are not allowed to leave them in the car either.
D.
Just amazing in a sunny day!
H.
This park is just awesome. It is for free and you will find some nice walkingtreks, a small waterfall, a nice view over the beach and the sea as well as the possibility to observe different kinds of birds.
We stayed for a whole day and I definitely recommend a visit!
W.
One of my favourite places to visit in Auckland. A few great beaches, forest walk, campsite and a number of walks through working farms offering a good work out and sensational views out to the Hauraki Gulf. Options for people of all fitness levels. Couldn’t recommend more.
J.
Beautiful walk and lovely 360 degree scenery, including Auckland. Only a short drive from Auckland and well worth it. You can also camp near by. It's also really cool to be walking right through the sheep and cow paddocks
J.
It is a really nice place, beautiful view, nice walking trails. The beach is really nice and shallow and the park is good for family or friend gathering.
B.
Amazing place to chill out with friends & family
C.
Awesome Beach. But a little far from the center.
М.
Great place for walking!
W.
Easy access park with a fair bit of space. There are tables and grills as well as space to throw a ball. The beach is a bit rough but the water was perfect the day we were there. There were no waves so no surfers (nothing against surfers) so it was great to just swim around in. There is also a peacock there that begs for bread.
M.
Beautiful. Lovely place for a picnic. Love all the birds.
G.
In my personal experience I loved this place, so clean, so beautiful, you can read the history and See why they have a huge fence, it's lovely to walk, to have a picnic, to enjoy the beach, lovely place, beautiful views, I recommend this place for a relaxing family trip
H.
Always a top choice for a short walk here if you’d like to get away from hustle and bustle. Easy to park, BBQ facility, family friendly and decent distance walk circles - about 2-3 hours. Not good for prams and wheelchairs.
P.
Beautiful place for the whole family to enjoy
R.
Very nice walk good for family and kids. Beautiful views of coast, forest and open fields.
n.
Amazing park with fabuloud views of the surrounding area. The beach is breathtaking with really clean shallow waters. Ideal place for wind surfing. There are several camp sites and many public bbq machines available. Picnic tables scattered in the shade are a treat to those who use the bbq facilities. However, it should be mentioned that flocks of different birds will gather around and give some innocent trouble once you sit down to eat. There were also plenty of public toilet facilities and shower and changing booths throughout the park. Abundant in safe playing areas for kids to kick a ball. All in all one of the best regional parks we have been to.
M.
The Heritage Trail is an excellent example of New Zealand walks, with forest paths, open farmland, and a beautiful lookout of the city and water. The sanctuary is carefully protected, and makes you feel like you're walking somewhere very special.
I.
A really good place to spend a day. Safe swimming beach, farm walking tracks, large grass areas, plenty of parking. Predator proof fence to protect the native birds nesting.
E.
Stunning views and nice walkways. I could not have imagined a better first night stay starting from Auckland, as it is very near the airport and plenty of space for a first campervan site.
R.
Ample parking, nice beach, great tracks, animal predator free so no dogs.
C.
A beautiful day to walk down the hill from the picture frame, along the beach all the way and back, then on to coffee at Cherry cafe at Gulf harbour. This was our walking group outing for today.
S.
Great walks, expansive, lots of variety (beaches, cliffs, bush, rolling hills), amazing views of the Coast and city.
D.
Such a beautiful place and always have a great time there with family and friends. Kids love it everytime!!!
P.
Fantastic park, beaches are lovely when the tide us full, great that the pests have been eradicated so the native birds can flourish.
A.
Good place for family day out. If it is low tide, you even can dig some Cockle out for dinner of Lunch, please make sure the daily limit. Park has BBQ facility to be used if it has not been booked or using by someone. Walk tracks from 15 mins to 2 hours available.
A.
Great spot for a day trip 🚙🚙🏖🏖
U.
Great place for a family picnic/beach day
A.
Beautiful place to just chill out lots of walks and the beach had very good time there definitely go again
A.
Just wow! Love the cows 🐮 & sheeps 🐑
A.
Love the breathtaking views and scenery. A place to enjoy nature and it's natural beauty. Best place for wandering around, breathe and smell fresh air, feel the wind brushing your face and hear the sounds of the waves! Best place to de-stress😊
C.
Such an amazing regional park just minutes away from busy city life. Beautiful walking tracks and plenty picnic spots with views and great camping site a couple of meters away from the beach.
M.
Wow... Magnificent!
Z.
Its a good place overall. Beach water is clean and ample to play area for families and kids to play. However the toilets and changing areas were not well maintained and needed some more attention.
a.
Nice little beach to have a picnic at
R.
Great sanctuary and bird watching opportunities.
B.
Has amazing beaches, scenic hills and a lush wildlife reserve where they're constantly releasing native birds. It also has a waterfall. Really great place!
w.
Lovely beach but had to park on the road 1km away
T.
An amazingly scenic and peaceful park. We spend one night here in a self contained campervan. There are cold outside showers only in the restricted access camping area
I.
It would be great if you don't have to book camping 6 month in advance. Overall, a nice destination - though bit faraway. Many would still prefer Long Bay Beach
D.
If you're going for the day then pack some lunch.Good walks and coastal views. And shaded areas near the beach. Public barbecue also available. Enquire at rangers office.
S.
Nice to walk in forest n the farm field
C.
Little sheltered romantic corner.. To sit and look out to the sea and the high sandstone cliffs at Shakespear Park.fine swimming too. You can launch your boat there.
Always like to come back to army bay.
S.
Lovely beach to spend the day
F.
Very nice. Bif greenfields and options for BBQ as well. Plenty of parking and must visit for a day out friends family n kids

To visit the park with my Uncle, who first holidayed there as a boy in 1938 with his family at the invitation of "The Colonel", whilst on a whistle stop visit from the UK was beyond words. To chat with a member of staff about future plans for him was very encouraging although the "introduced pear tree" in the back garden where he slung his hammock had been removed. Progress. Wonderful experience.

Fantastic views of the Gulf. Wonderful beaches with shellfish as well as being very safe for swimming. Sheep and lambs roam the paddocks that you can walk in to get to the lookout on the peak of the hill
P.
I love this unspoiled park. There is so much to do from mountain biking, to walking and running the many tracks. The sea is there for all your water sports and is safe and shallow for young families.
