Reviews of Tekapo Springs
E.
Beautiful spot with a fantastic view. Great place for the whole family. A great summer or winter destination 😊✌️
M.
Had an amazing experience at the Tekapo Springs! Got the 1 hour Swedish massage and pools package. What a deal for $150! The massage was so relaxing and I’d say it was my best massage I’ve ever had! Thank you Ruby for a very relaxing experience!
The pools were great and the added bonus of getting to use the steam room and sauna was so good! Apparently not many people know about the spa there but I’d say it’s definitely worth checking out! Made my trip to Tekapo! :)
T.
Biked there from the NZMCA park , under 10minutes . We had prebooked so walked in showed vaccine pass and into the pools . They give discount for over 60years . Pay once and you can stay all day. Come and go up to 7pm.
J.
Fantastic spot. Stopped off for 4 hours, pool, lunch and pool. Great views. Plenty of parking. Very tidy and well laid out. Wifi in the Cafe. Good value for money.
H.
It was my most favourite spot on the trip. Absolutely beautiful views of tekapo from the pools. So much fun 🤩 will go there again
D.
Absolutely loved the day spa - massage and facial! Relaxing in the pools after was a bonus. Being early meant avoiding the crowds. Excellent food in cafe, enjoyed salad with falafel.
H.
Here are pics of our arrival and when we left the camp enjoyed our stay. As mentioned before beautiful cabins can sleep a family of eight 1x queen 6 bunks we had our own kitchen, shower and barbecue. All areas well maintained. Shared laundry facilities $4 to wash and $2 to dry, shared kitchen and showers facilities available. No clothes lines available during our stay.
S.
It was nice. We only did the pools, spent over 2 hrs just relaxing. Pools were nice and have seating in them. It was mostly clean, apart from having heck lot of dead flies floating in them (especially the hottest pool), not sure why but it felt like it kept coming. Also note you don’t get the lake view if you’re seating in any pool, only when you’re standing. I feel it’s best at night for stargazing so will be back for that some time in future.
t.
The pools are lovely. Even the "cool pool" is a decent temperature and it's nice that they have an adult only pool. A little expensive though and we didn't pay the extra for the water slide. Cafe has a good selection and all staff are friendly
M.
It's definitely a good place for families. We had a good time and it's very close to Christchurch. It has no phone signal and the WiFi is very bad. However the ice skating, hot pools and snow tubing is wonderful. We haven't tried the spa but looks so interesting. We will come back
F.
We did the Stargazing Tour and it was fantastic, the guide was very knowledgeable and certainly added to the overall experience. Relaxing in the hot pools looking up at the stars is a very nice experience. Could perhaps have been better on a night without a full moon, but still amazing.
G.
A beautiful spot for a nice hot relaxing soak after a long day. Or can be enjoyed earlier in the day, with the fun activities of ice skating and tubing there also. Would definitely recommend.
PS photo is of the lakefront at the bottom of the carpark.
T.
Great for relaxing, spent 5 hours here in summer time.
I heard the winter experience is also great here too
N.
Awesome place to take the family. Kids had fun in the kids pool area.. Very clean and well maintained pools with the most beautiful view. Recommend that you visit if your travel plans involve you passing by. You can hire towels for $5 each with a $20 bond which you'll get back once all towels are returned.
L.
The facilities are great. Unfortunately the giant bouncy castle that they have during summer was really hot under foot, and some of the outer coating of the bouncy castle is beginning to perish. The inflatable water slide had to be temporarily shut down to secure its tethering. Sadly the development behind Tekapo Springs has required the trees to be cut down, what was once a beautiful setting has now been ruined. Hopefully once what ever has been built behind will restore its setting.
S.
Beautiful! Can't really fault it.
It would be nice to have more family changing for the pools but we managed. Safe and clean facilities, a bit pricey for the hotpools on their own. I think $89 for 2 schoolies and 2 adults and a toddler is a bit steep.
Overall very pleasant!
M.
Beautiful day, lovely friendly staff. So much fun for the kids, the addition of the deep dive pool since our last visit was a hit and they loved the giant inflatable slide. Best family day out! Well worth the visit
R.
A real winter wonderland with ice skating, snow tubing, hot pools and spa treatment centre. There are 3 tiers of pools with different temperatures but all warm enough to wallow the winter hours away. Only loses a star as it was so busy in the school holidays with an overflowing carpark, no room in change room and my family only getting 2 tube rides in their 1 hour session. Another staff member to improve efficiency at the bottom would have made a difference.
K.
Had a lovely relaxing time @ the Tekapo Springs. Great setting overlooking the lake ,friendly staff.Pools & surrounding area very clean
Z.
Very interesting and informative session on our galaxy and what comprises stars in the night sky. You are issued with glasses and a headset and as you move your head, the view on your screen changes. This Technology is very clever.
I thought I was going to look at Tekapo stars, but this covered in less detail, possibly because of a cloudy and overcast day.
H.
Wonderful visit to the pools and day spa. Pools were quiet so it was a very peaceful and relaxing experience. Some areas were under some maintenance but the general space was clean, safe and well layed out. Therapist at the day spa was amazing. Will definitely be back again to try out the water slide 😄
M.
Great place to spend 2-3 hours. Relaxing. Clean. Great service at the coffee shop.
A.
We really enjoyed the stargazing and hotpools on New Years Eve- it surpassed our expectations :) The astronomer was so enthusiastic & knowledgeable that he got everyone involved and excited. We loved the hammocks in the hot pools. A great way to start 2022😊
J.
Awesome camping area/setup. Great swimming spot
L.
I always love to stop in for a soak at Tekapo Springs. I love the addition of the new pools (since I last visited). I just wish you were open later in the summer while the sun is still up. 7pm is so early to close. I was also disappointed I couldn't sign up for the Stargazing as it didn't appear to be available on Monday, Jan 3, 2022. I love the Stargazine experience and had hoped to be able to enjoy it again.
D.
I absolutely love Tekapo Springs and wish I could visit more frequently! I hope that there's a Mackenzie Pass for this year. The spa is a must do I got a pass from my family for some treatments for my birthday and the lady I had was amazing, soo lovely I could have spent all day with her getting pampered!
N.
Great place for the kids and adults.
There was lovely lady (wearing a sparkly mask) behind the counter who i watched care for and fuss over a little girl with extra needs. What a lovely display of kindness and care.
A.
Nice hot water "springs" are completely artificially heated but nonetheless very pretty and nice to hang in. We were lucky to hit a clear night and went star gazing - several expensive telescopes were set up and we toured the night sky then looked at the constellations from the 38° hot pools as the air temperatures crept down to -4°. Stunning views and informative while relaxing. Win!
Having spoken to some disappointed others: Do NOT do this on anything other than a clear night - it will NOT be value for money.
R.
Would definitely recommend, complex is top notch. Location and the different levels of warmth in pools. Lifeguards are very attentive to ensure a relaxed experience for everyone.
E.
Great facilities, yes it's rather old but still great. Can't go wrong with the view, I wish it was snowing too
G.
This place is wonderful. I booked the star gazing and had a magical experience observing the night sky with telescopes. The guided tour was definitely more informative than I expected and it was great getting to learn about the sky. The staff were very friendly and the facilities were luxurious. My partner and I came back the following day to try out their café which was pretty good too.
F.
Definitely worth the trip from Wellington the whole family loved it. Definitely the highlight of the trip. And amazing coffee one of the best I've had in my life. Definitely bringing the family back👌👌👌🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
P.
It was my first experience with hot pool. And it was awesome. I enjoyed it. It's a big hot pool contain 5 different sub-pools with different temperatures. Atmosphere was great. The look of mountains covered with snow makes it wonderful and picturesque. Surrounding is also contained big and tall trees add more beauty in that. Charges are nominal. Staff is nice and friendly. Totally recommended. Spend some time with your family there. It's a great fun.
S.
Absolutely awesome staff. Made us feel very welcome when we arrived. The hot pools, Cafe and changing facilities are awesome. Something for everyone.
R.
Really great experience of stat gazing. This has to be must do for all who likes dark sky and would want to know the sky in more details. Awesome experience! Thanks team.
M.
After a long day of flying, driving and hiking this was a great way to relax and unwind. We came here as the sun was going down and enjoyed the amazing view while we soaked. The three levels of pools were nice, though the warmest was the best for me. Lots of different temperature pools for those who don't like it too hot.
K.
Amazing experience. The lovely ladies at the day spa made me feel so welcome. Can't wait to return very soon. Thank you so much
B.
Nice and quiet at the moment Jan 22
K.
It was an amazing experience.
Amazing star gazing commentary and relaxing spa and amazing story telling
And amazing for the family. The whole family loved it.
By the way we did the star gazing
G.
Had a great time! Unfortunate that the stars were hidden by clouds, however sitting in a hot pool on a cold night is pretty stellar in its own right. Thanks for the wonderful experience!
P.
Amazing experience. Best way to unwind in Tekapo. Greeted by super friendly reception staff. The atmosphere of the pools was very relaxing. The music was very calming. The pools themselves were a good size, big enough that everyone there had there own space and bonus for adults only pool. As well as the pools there was also a sauna, steam room and plunge pool. The changing rooms had good showers with body wash dispensers. Also had hair dryers and tog dryers. Overall great experience!!
R.
This is a good place to visit for family bonding. You get to see amazing lake/river. They do have hot pools, snow tubing in Winter, star gazing at cafe where you can try some NZ foods and coffee. While in hot pools, never forget to savor the magnificent view of the place. FYI: better bring your towel or rent it for 5 bucks.
J.
Beautiful place to visit! Spectacular views of the lake and mountains from the campsite.
Thought it would be super cold but it hasnt been to bad
A.
Beautiful scenic views of the lake and luckily not too crowded for our visit from Christchurch with friends.Friendly service and pools are clean and hygenic.Plenty of lockers to keep personal items safe and secure.
L.
When we went it was super busy with kids running around screaming and all the pools full apart from the adult only. We went back the next day at about 6 and it was a lot quitter and nicer. So I recommend going if you go after 6 😀
D.
Hot pools were nice and relaxing, family loved it. Just a tip the price for 2 adults and 2 kids was (Jan 2022) cheaper than a family pass, even the staff thought that was strange.
G.
What better way to wind down after driving 3-4 hrs from Queenstown.
The pools were lively and warm, a great relief from the cold wind.
The big slide was awesome fun.. until you hit the freezing cold water in the bend, which shocks you to the core.
Change rooms, showers, toilets were all very clean. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Z.
A beautiful, scenic place to either relax solo or have a fun day with the family. Staff are always kind and professional, facilities are beautiful and kept very tidy. Good vibe all around. They also have a nice little cafe with a solid selection and decent quality food. Overall 10/10. Have fun 🏞
R.
Extremely nice and very well designed pools. Staff are very friendly. Lots of parking. Disabled access is also available. Family friendly with a special pool for the kids. Parts of pools are shaded. You donot need to know how to swim as four pools have reasonable depths. Also drinking water is available for free. Pools varies in temperatures to suit all. I definitely recommend it.
Cafeteria
Reasonably priced. Very friendly and accommodating staff.
A.
Paid $44 and that had me set for the entire day. I got to have a skate on the ice Skating Rink then a nice hot soak in the pools, was great that we could come and go throughout the day. The fish and chip meal was great too although the home made salad dressing wasn't as good as they said it would be, had no flavor just tasted like oil. Got to watch my first ever Ice hockey game, Aaand I saw a zamboni for the first time haha thanks will definitely be back in future
A.
Nice clean venue to relax in but shame the seating not low enough to cover the water over shoulders and shame the view of lake and mountain ranges were not visible when relaxing in the pools
M.
Lovely welcome from the staff, and alway nice to relax. The pool design here does not cater for the desire to lie back and relax as the seats are very upright. The water level seems low in the adult only pool. No massage jets and the waterfall pressure was less than the shower in our accomodation. The steam room could do with an upgrade as it didnt smell great, could be a victim of covid close down. Overall clean & tidy with no crowds when we went. Pricing was appropriate in comparison to other South Island hot pools.
S.
The dinning area was very cold, otherwise we had a great family time and the kids enjoyed skating.
T.
After 11 days of hiking this was the best decision I made, I spent 3 hours relaxing and reviving in multiple pools at different temperatures. By far the adult pool which is the hottest is the best as its a safe haven if you are not there with a family. It makes sense lots of kids would be there but there is not much room or respected space when the children decide to play tag or other game.
S.
Great place, great staff. Could do with a little more shade over the pools - perhaps something that rolls away for viewing stars at night.
n.
It's located near the lake tekapo motel. Just 500Meter away from it. Within walking distance.
We arrived in the winter and we have bought a 2 days pass. The water temperature is good. And the second day it is snowing but it is really really good to soak in the hot water in the cold weather like this.
The staff are super friendly and lovely. They upgraded my ticket to sauna and trust me. It is really worth the price. In winter. After staying in the steam room, you don't feel any cold outside, even it is snowing, but for 20mins though. Its still something xD
Would definitely come again if I ever come again. Recommended
R.
It isn’t really springs - just outside man made pools that are bathtub warm - BUT - kids loved it, although only 4 stars as the price for a lazy afternoon swim is pretty steep! The slide option was my highlight, and must have gone on it 20 times minimum, so would recommend the slide and swim option to have some fun and not get bored..!!!
S.
Lovely to sit under the stars in a hot pool. I also like the fact there us an adult only pool. Also great you can have a day pass and go perhaps in the afternoon and then back in the evening.
You can also get a two day pass which saves a bit of money
A.
Super relaxing absolutely lovely place to go and chill out. Can't wait to go in winter and try out tubing
V.
Always amazing. Waters hot. If you can go at night for the stargazing and stories while floating in the pool on a floaty, it's literally the BEST thing! Seen Saturn's rings through a telescope for the first time here too, which was epic all on its own
J.
We visited during the week, it was wasn’t too busy at all which was good. We’ve just used the three hot pools, it was quite relaxing.
N.
Fantastic facility for Tekapo and very busy. Kids had a blast on the Snow Tube and enjoyed Ice skating as well. Unfortunately a bit too cold and windy for the pools for a 4-year-old but will definitely be back.
M.
Amazing pools! There's an adults only one, 2 other warm ones and a splash pool for kids/families. Massage and some beauty therapy on site.
s.
Great hot pools for winter holiday here at tekapo. Great mountain views from the pool. Try to avoid school holiday at all cost. $25 per adult for pool entry $31 for pool, steam and sauna. Car parking is not nicely designed and spaces are quite limited. This complex also had ice-skating rink and ice tubing facilities, with onsite cafe. Highly recommend.
H.
Very helpful staff and a great swim and play. Enjoyed by granny and the grandies. Will be back for a whole day visit. Thumbs up to the staff!
M.
LOVED this place soo much! Only gets a 4 star from me though because customer service lacked. It took them 3 days to respond to my voice messages and emails about making a booking for the spa for the day I arrived. But they explained they had been super busy, especially at the time we went there. And I didn't get in the spa as hoped due to unavailable times I wanted. Also, when asked the staff about what the names of the mountains were, they didn't know - I thought at least by working there you would know what all the names of the mountains were? But given that this worker was foreign perhaps he didn't actually know or the name was hard to pronounce?
But this is by far the best attractions Queenstown has to offer. Drive 3 hours to it from our holiday house in Lake Hayes Estate but it was worth it! I liked how the changing rooms had a togs drier that u didn't pay for and was super quick at drying out togs. That was new to me and I thought about why this isn't at every place that has a pool? I will be recommending this to them for sure. The beautiful scenery and deliciously hot pools are just too awesome. The cold pool with the deep end was heaps of fun. I liked the different temperatures of hotness you could choose from - 35° to 38°. I like that its family friendly and has the big juggernaut inflatable for kids and adults, and the big waterslide too. I went as a retreat with my sisters, but I will definitely be back taking my kids and hubby next time. A highly recommended place to visit.
M.
Wonderful experience!
Wish the Springs were open later so that we could have watched the sunset.
K.
Natural hot springs - tick
Stunning surrounds - tick
Family family - tick
Full amenities - tick
Wonderful way to spend the day, kids will have loads of options to keep them busy. Cafe on site means you don't have to go anywhere.
Well maintained facility with lifeguard on watch, 4 or 5 different temperatured pools along with spa facilities.
Best bit is the entry ticket allows for multiple same day entries - so you can leave and come back as any times as you want! Genius!
P.
Great place to relax ☺️ with great views.
Go there to catch sunset 😊
K.
A most enjoyable evening with learning, viewing of the stars via naked eye and telescope, followed by a relaxing time in the pool with a wonderful storyteller, we loved it for something very different to do
L.
Nice outdoor heated pools and lots of parking. Convenient location to break-up a drive. We paired it with a 3hour hike up a hill with beautiful lake views (just follow the sign post Infront of the parking lot).
However, we found all the non-included “extras” frustrating - credit card fee 2%, locker $3, towel $5. Just include them in the price so we don’t feel like we’re constantly be asked for more money.
D.
Great spot to warm up and relax while admiring the distant mountains.
Move between various heated pools.
Walk or just 5 mins drive from Tekapo town centre.
A.
Had a great time soaking in the pools, Sauna and Steam room great facility. good coffee at the cafe they grind there own beans
V.
Not a worth visit, but they are giving good service to all. Everyone can enjoy. Cafe is bit costly.
N.
Loved this spot. It was a great surprisingly good spot considering we had been sleeping in a motorhome for over a week and a nice soak is exactly what we needed. A have top visit id your are in the area. Also reasonably priced.
T.
Amazing, the spa and massage was a perfect finish to the weekend ❤
A.
Very nice place to relax, overall good experience price wise is fair for New Zealand.
Only small disappointment was that the max hot pool temperature was 38• which is body temperature and compared to a lot of worldwide hot pools etc it didn’t feel too spa but more of a relax and enjoy with the family experience.
J.
Absolutely brilliant experience!
Spotless facilities, friendly staff and very reasonably priced. We will return.
A.
Wonderful place you would love to be regardless the cold weather. Enjoy hot outdoor pools ranging 35°, 37° and 38°. However, I did not like their costumes that you have to hire for $5NZ very faded. Also one staff guy was not friendly. He was very rude he gave me the deposit looking to other direction whilst talking to his colleague. He ignored me completely until I said to him excuse me please I am talking to you. I felt ignored and intimidated in front of my kids. Food was excellent very delicious especially burgers.
N.
Some great new additions to the pools over the years including a fun giant slide for summer use. Very popular hotpools which some might say are a tad overcrowded.
G.
Tekapo has certainly changed over the years. Been a few years since I visited. Still has amazing scenery that can't change. Busy place on a lovely day
S.
Lovely spot, but a bit cold. Lot of birds around, kinda annoying, had to drop a couple stars because of that. Overall would come back. Xx
J.
Prices are a bit on the touristy side, but the views from the pools when there's snow on the mountains is incredible. Very family friendly, but with quieter adult-only pools too.
G.
Spoil yourself here at the spa, excellent service, lovely facilities and wonderful all natural nz made skincare. Must do, pamper day!
J.
Liked having various pools and differing temperatures from which you could go to and from. Even with lots of kids around (school holidays) still felt quite relaxing.
F.
The hot pools are great, it's nice that they have three different temperatures of pools. Very relaxing and comfortable. The staff are friendly and professional. We also went on the nighttime star gazing tour at the pools. It was absolutely incredible! The guide was very clever, funny, and friendly. Seeing the star clusters through the telescopes was awesome, and then lying back and relaxing in the underwater hammocks in the pools while the guide told us cultural stories about constellations was so dreamy. Would highly recommend both the pools and the stargazing tour, especially for couples.
A.
Nice hot pools. Views appear to be blocked by plants. But we felt so relaxed after coming here.
H.
Great place to kick back in one of three pools. Friendly staff and great surroundings, the view is special and tops off a great spot.
D.
Great experience, better than expected. Well presented with some humour added
D.
A wonderful place to spend a chilly afternoon with a beautiful view. The top pool being adults only is lovely and peaceful, but the bottom ones are great to sit back with a book.
Highly recommend the extra few dollars for the sauna and steam room... a jump in the plunge pool is a highlight!
J.
Could be there one really hot pool....even the hottest one is not hot enough ...but for the price it's good
D.
Nice views but I think even better in winter! Multiple entries throughout the day if you keep your wristbands on. Option to buy food and drinks too. Worth to go :)
F.
Great options here: swim, spa, ski, snow etc. Cafe available. We have a great time here. Will definitely coma back!!!!
L.
The Stargazing tour was alright, the clouds came in, so we didn't see that much of the stars. Also, my expectations might be too high? I was expecting to see the milky way lol. The hot springs pool was Kool. The moon was better than the stars. The hot chocolate gave my friend stomach ache.
D.
Lovely! As always, BUT such a shame they have cut the Forrest down. I'm gutted as its lost its uniqueness...... Still worth going to tho!!
m.
Hot pool is small, but have excellent view. And Best buger~~~♡ at the cafe. will visit for that again.
A.
It was good but the slide was not safe as I was hurt on my hand. There was not enough water on the slide.
S.
Loved the hot pools in adult area. Our poor timing with it being school holidays but so many happy families. Not enough room in change rooms though and car parking needs to be addressed. But, all in all a lovely sosk in hot pool on a late winter's day.
A.
One of the most beautiful places on earth and also a dark sky reserve. A must visit and a great place for star gazing overnight.
A.
Tekapo is a very beautiful place to visit. The crystal blue water is marvelous when you see it for the first time. We spent our time in the hot springs having a beautiful soak. Very relaxing with views of the lake and the snow topped mountains.
S.
Great place to visit with family or friends. Daily pass allows in and out, it was nice and clean, good value for the money. Very quiet in the morning
L.
Service great. Weather didn't play ball but the pools and tour were good
S.
It's great place, excellent views from the springs. Over priced for the seasonal slide.
S.
Loved changing from pool to pool, too hot, move to a cooler pool, too cool, move to the hotter pools. Awesome service too, friendly southern hospitality.
R.
It was a nice day but during winters it would be something beautiful views with hot water pools. Definitely going back in winter.
K.
The most gorgeous massage I have ever had!! I had the full body massage and body polish and I cannot recommend enough taking some you time!!
B.
Lovely staff, amazing hot pools, beautiful views of Lake Tekapo, reasonable prices, can't go wrong with Tekapo Springs!
D.
Not just any hot springs, but perhaps one of the best you'll ever visit!
Featuring a few pools of different temperatures and formations to suit most peoples needs - even for the kids.
The family friendly clean facilities along with nice staff compliment the terrific experience you'll surely have here. Affordable and good value for money along with a gorgeous unforgettable backdrop that will leave you in awe.
B.
Stunning setting for a relaxing soak.
Bonus free coffee as well.
G.
Lovely pools. The 38 degree pool had warmer and cooler areas I didn't discover till I'd been in it for a while. Not sure if that's intentional. The website isn't so good - had to dig to find the bit where you can buy tickets, and it's NOT for booking actually - you can't book a time - I've been before on a Friday night and it's been full so the word "booking" isn't quite right.
Overall friendly and cool tho.
T.
It's a nice place to take the kids and it has a good mix of activities across the different seasons.
One thing they could do better would be to make the reception/payment process more user-friendly.
There are always queues and it is like the front counter is too small and understaffed.
We will go back tho - the kids love it.
M.
Was expecting quite a bit more to be honest especially considering it was similar price to Hanmer, only a limited number of pools and limited stuff for the kids to do. Wouldn't go again
j.
This place is AMAZING!!. the view of the mountains from the hotpools are awesome. The people who work there are nice and friendly the food is great. The cabins are nice and cost. Do go here because it is breathtaking
N.
Love love love tekapo springs, my family had a great time relaxing and taking in all the fresh air and view while relaxing and enjoying the springs. It was very busy tho as it was the school holidays, so was cool for the kids
N.
Super busy, but a nice spot. Needs more drainage on the way to the changing rooms and in them too.
R.
Star gazing was great. The guide was awesome. We were there on a rainy night so we did the VR presentation. Still worth doing but I will also return on a clear night. I imagine it will be even better
S.
Fast friendly service and rabbits nuzzling for over 5 minutes outside my room
W.
Great spot, got kids? Pan them off enjoy the adult only pool
S.
Great place, lovely pools, fantastic views yummy food
T.
Me and my partner had an incredible time doing the star gazing tour! Even though the clouds were rolling in, we still got to see Jupiter and other constillations. The virtual reality tour was incredible and really informative. The hot pools were beautiful and was so relaxing to sit in the nice hot water in the middle of winter and gaze up at the stars. Our guide Kaydin was very informative and you could tell how passionate and interested he was about everything he said. He did an amazing job at giving us an excellent experience although the clouds were trying to block us out. He answered all of our questions, and nothing about the tour felt rushed or felt like we didn't have enough time. 10/10 would go again 🙂
C.
Arrived in Tekapo early afternoon and it was raining. Other attractions were a bit wet so decided on a relaxing afternoon at Tekapo springs with a sauna and the hot pools.
Would of liked a massage in the spar but it was fully booked.
There was a very slow moving queue to pay in reception, only one member of staff.
Staff were pleasant and helpful.
Good place to go on a rainy afternoon.
b.
Short queues and super friendly staff. No wonder they won service awards. Good selection of pools for kids and adults. Great to see health and safety has not restricted the ability to jump and dive into the kids pool. They had a great time
M.
Not very big, basically 3 pools Max temperature of water 38 C. Sauna however was pretty cold, not worth the money. You need cash if you want to use lockers (3 NZD) or rent a swimwear. Nice view over the Tekapo lake (but you can't see the lake from the pool)
G.
Excellent pools. Lovely view of the mountains while sitting in the adults pool.
G.
Great place to go relax. 5 different temperature pools to choose from, 38, 37, 35, 32 & 28 degrees. Reasonably priced and got discounted prices on BookMe.
S.
Beautiful, relaxing hot pools with stunning views! Great experience! We will be back. Thank you!
R.
Very clean and relaxing. Beautiful environment. For some reason I thought this would be a mineral hot springs. I think it’s fresh, chlorinated water, but crystal clear. You can choose from a variety of pools with different temperatures. If you’re in the mood to poach yourself in some warm water while looking out over gorgeous natural scenery, this is a great option.
K.
We had a fantastic time there with the Canterbury Volkswagen Enthusiast club Cool Run.
Hosts Gavin and Andrea from the Tekapo camping ground.
U.
Spent a cruisy, fun afternoon just slothing around and soaking in this great facility. It's got beautiful views, is well maintained, well staffed, laid back, and clean. The changing rooms and showers were tidy, the staff friendly, and the lockers actually worked. Yep, its a little pricey but well worth it.
J.
Day spa staff very professional and competent! Pools clean and enjoyable
P.
Lovely place to spend time with family. Professional and approchable staff.. 5-star experience.
J.
Excellent facilities. Friendly staff and many activities to do such as dipping in the hot spa and relax, Going down the tube slide was fun since my kids loved it.it is a great place for Ice skating for newbies too
m.
Great place to visit and you can hike up to the observatory at the top of mt John with fantastic views
B.
The staff made it 5 stars for me.
The pools are amazing and the view is incredible but the staff are really friendly helpful amazing people, with particular emphasis on the 2 ladies at the counter when you enter. In fact, one of them was outside to welcome us when we arrived, being a quiet Tuesday morning.
We will go out of our way to return.
廖.
Beautiful view but small pool. Feel like in the heated swimming pool. Was expecting they have jacuzzi pool , but they don't have !! Price is little bit higher for the heated pool....
Y.
Amazing experience here, love the hot pools and steam sauna. Strongly recommend!!
S.
Like visiting Tekapo springs, it is a bit pricey but it was lovely relaxing in the pools. We also did the tubes which was a blast. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful.
T.
Great place to relax for a few hours. The pools were very nice.
I.
Did the star gazing experience with Sam and his knowledgeable team. Well worth the money. Would highly recommend.
Z.
TOTALLY EPIC (or “ipucc” as the locals say). I wanna live here. Spent a full afternoon with my sister and 7 year old niece sliding down the ice tube slide (or whatever they call it), skating on the ice rink that was empty except for us(!!!) and relaxing in the hot springs. Best day ever.
H.
Snow tube is nice. Needless to say. We had a good time there
C.
Nice clean and well maintained. Lots of different options with the pools good range for all ages
T.
Nice and relaxing, amazing senic views. We went during level 2 lockdown, limited people, it was really nice.
Put it on the to do list if you're in Tekapo.
T.
Such a magical place!!! I finally made it here it's just breathtaking
R.
Very nice outlook, lovely to have an adult only pool. Price is very very good compared to other attractions. Quite busy.
J.
Hot swimming pool in a freezing climate. It's ok. Do the sauna and dip pool if you can handle it.
M.
Excellent tourist spot where you can both enjoy in thrilling activities or unwind in their soothing hot pools.
L.
Absolutely loved the massage and sauna. I had a deep tissue massage and because we stayed at an air bub ( which was excellent) we got 20% off.
Mental note though if you haven't got children don't go during school holidays
T.
Such amazing customer service. We arrived, it was quite busy and my husband and I had our daughter with us who is special needs (autistic with CP so not very patient lol). An amazing lady named Julie quickly identified Jewel as special needs and asked if we had our kiwi disability card which I had forgotten. She said not to worry she did not need the card. Not only did she save us money, she made us feel so welcome. I just love that Julie went out of her way to help us and Jewel and made us feel really positive about Tekapo Springs. Big shout out to Julie :-)
c.
LOVED this place! We ziplined as a family and it was awesome. Amazing building, cool, pumping vibe, chilling wind, vrey good staff. Made me feel confident. We stayed and hungout and bought in the giftshop.
B.
Nice place great for children. Snow slide can become boring after a couple rides for adults.
m.
Great place to go with the family, we ended up spending over $200 to go ice skating with the Grandkids. They didn'`t enjoy it and were on the ice for less than 30 mins and we were unable to use the hotpools instead which was a shame.
M.
Great place helpful front desk person. Few different hot pools ranging from 32 to 38.5 degrees. Tye 38.5 is adult only.
I also got a massage which was good and a facial which was just ok. The facial was relaxing but didn't do anything for my face. They use products so gentle yuu could do it yourself
B.
Nice location. Views not quite as impressive as you might expect from the website but still very pleasant.
G.
Couldn't fault this place. Springs are set to just the right temperature and the view is simply breathtaking. Definitely worth a visit if you travelling through South Island.
S.
Busy place. Lots of parking. Gorgeous views and lovely facilities. Definitely hope to be back!
T.
Nice view of the mountains from the springs. Can get crowded.
G.
A lovely little town. Worth a stop on the way. The hot pools and ice rink are great for the kids.
M.
Great atmosphere, but expensive for what it is and not much pool side seating for those less keen or able to swim yet join the family experience
M.
Good to soak in to relax especially after long drive. Have temperature options where you can try.
A.
Wonderful location, awesome views, friendly staff, and very good coffee at the onsite cafe 😀
R.
Lovely hot pools! We got the two day pass which allowed us to go to and from the hot pools as much as we liked each day. There is a lovely view of the mountains from the pools. There are three hot pools - one adults only 38 degrees, and two family pools (35 and 36 degrees). The changing rooms have approx 5 showers and good space. The facility has a cafe, ice rink and tube park.
N.
One of the best hot pools we've ever experienced. Relaxing hot water with an incredible view of the nature around. You can stay in it the whole day by buying a $27 ticket. The slide going through the trees is also quite an excitement. Children can also play and have fun in an adjacent pool.
M.
With its striking natural beauty, friendly citizens, and recent popularity due to its use as the filming location for the Lord of the Rings films (as well as many others), this island nation is one of the world's great places to visit. The biodiversity here is amazing-it's believed New Zealand was one of the last places on earth to have human inhabitants.
T.
The best place to relax and enjoy the hot pools
J.
We took the stargazing tour and it was an amazing experience. The pools and the stargazing were great but the difference here was the staff. Sang, Jack and Sam were super knowledgeable and did an amazing job. And finishing the activity in the hot pools under the stars is just incredible. Definitely going again.
L.
Visited for lunch. Cold wet day. Had pumpkin and curry soup and wedges. Both very nice but the soup could have been heated up a bit more. Lovely open fire going.
K.
Good, busy - needs better drainage in changing rooms.
S.
Got a massage at the spa and our masseuse was so good. Both of us opted for the deep tissue massage and felt so relaxed afterwards.
Then a dip in the pools, it was starting to get busy in the evening but there was enough space and it didn't feel crowded and of course we got beautiful views of the lake and surrounding area. Worth a visit if you're in Tekapo and want a relaxing evening.
R.
My partner and I did the hot pools stargazing experience. Unfortunately it was cloudy but the AR headsets and guides made it a great experience. Soaking in the hot pools was lovely- looking forward to hopefully doing it again on a clear night!
M.
My friends and I each got a massage and then spent time in the "hot pool". It was not very hot. It's a nice facility and they have a wonderful star gazing event at night.
S.
The night sky tour is fantastic, if it's too cloudy you get to do a VR tour and then head to the hotpools to see if you can spot some stars
N.
Enjoyed the star gazing tour on sunday night. Sky was clear, pools were nice and hot. Beautiful lights made pool look beautiful. And tour guide was awesome.
A.
Do the star gazing experience.... floating in the hot pools, looking at the Milky Way, it is awe-inspiring.
S.
We had Erin as our stargazer guide and she knows everything and anything you want/need to know about the stars. Lots of questions were asked and answered. She took the vibe of the group when we were in the pool and answered questions and told stories while we looked up into the sky while sitting in the hot pool.
Y.
A great place to relax. Clean and well organised. Easy to go between pools and to find a quiet spot to just enjoy relaxing in the warmth. Change rooms were very clean and well equipped too.
R.
I did the stargazing experience and it was informative and captivating. Thoroughly enjoyed staring up at the skies with more appreciation afterwards while soaking in the warm pools.
I'll be definitely be back for some daytime lake views.
Fantastic facilities, friendly staff and wonderful overall experience.
Thank you :)
L.
The most incredible experience is star gazing in hot pools! Highly recommended, you won't foget this magic night. We really enjoyed the night sky, watching different celestial objects in the telescope, listening interesting stories and soaking in hot pools! Everything was amazing, felt like in a fairy tale. Staff is very nice and friendly provided all that you might need including robes not to get cold after water and towels. Definitely come back one day. Thank you!
L.
The Day Spa is amazing - highly recommended as a must do in Tekapo!
W.
I just had the most amazing Swedish massage with Ruby. She is amazing at what she does. Highly recommended.
S.
Had lots of fun in the hot pools of Tekapo Springs over a couple of winters. Very peaceful and relaxing if you visit in off-peak periods. A number of hot pools to try out.
M.
Well run operation, a great day out and a great place to break your journey on the way to somewhere.
R.
Gorgeous hot pools and sauna.
M.
I had the most wonderful massage and facial at the Tekapo Spa by the hands of the lovely woman there. She was very kind and we had a wonderful conversation throughout. Highly recommend going there and asking for her. (there's only one woman there and sadly can't remember her name)
N.
An awesome day out with the family, a great mix of relaxation and jumping on the jumpernaut.
Followed up with the star gazing soak.
G.
Great place to relax and soak out the aches, especially after a 60km mountain walk!
R.
Went here and tried all three activities: ice skating, snow tubing, then hot pools. Ice skating was very fill but still fun, although at times a little cramped. Snow tubing was also plenty of fun, however for the hour slot we booked it we got only 4 turns due to the number of other people on it, so I would personally only do it once. The spa pools were the highlight for me, they are beautiful and a great temperature. Very relaxing. Although, fun for a holiday trip but not worth going frequently.
c.
Great spot to soak in warm lake water. Great spot to gaze at the stars. Great spot to see the town of Lake Tekapo.
Really, one of true highlights of any NZ trip. Plus, what else are you gonna do in Lake Tekapo at night?
K.
Loved it all the kids had a grate time lots to do we had some very tied kids n parents on way home thanks team for been so friendly n helpful
R.
Very nice , get up early morning, the view is Awesome
A.
Tekapo Springs was very clean and beautiful. Changing rooms were also clean and had hot water showers and a tumble dry machine for your togs so you don’t have to leave with them sopping wet. There is also a family changing room which we loved as we didn’t have to separate. The pools were also really lovely with beautiful water features. Water temperature was perfect and our daughter loved playing around in it as there was a platform around the inside of the pool where we could sit and where she could stand.
M.
A relaxing experience at Tekapo springs, well managed and very clean. Thank you!
J.
great view, chrystal clear sky and relaxing spa... what else should be needed
C.
Pretty good, but slightly expensive for a family of 5 to do everything.
L.
Nice hot pools, but missing a couple of key features to be 5 starts, such as bubble bath, massage jets and lazy chairs in the water. Bonus point for the fun slide tho, totally worth the wlak up the hill!
S.
Nice spot get views. Can be cold when wind goes through as trees now gone
C.
Thoroughly enjoyed our time here! Staff were friendly. We purchased the Soak + Tube + Skate combo and had the best day. The snow tubing was well worth it! A definite highlight. It was awesome ending the day with a soak in the hot pools. Left feeling great! Will definitely visit again.
A.
Wonderful experience. Unfortunately our night clouded over but not before we could get a good look at the moon through the telescope. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and told us some great stories while we floated in the hot pool. Reccomended activity to do whilst visiting Lake Tekapo.
S.
We did the tekapo stargazing tour, it was such a lovely, clear sky night. The guides were great, very knowledge, and showed the group a few things under the telescope. The hot pool at the end was the perfect finish. Only thing to improve would be to make the group size smaller. Had 8 of us to a telescope, so 24 people total, also too crammed inside the hot pool.
M.
Too good this place. Will take the kids there again in Winter.
E.
Great escape for the family especially during winter, loved it.
杨.
Beautiful view and nice hot spring.
H.
This was one of my favourite parts of our trip, the springs really heat you up - we left just before closing and grabbed some icecream before going to bed.
M.
Was great just nothing to do for kids early in day
L.
We did a 'soak in the stars' experience here and were lucky to get maybe 30-45 minutes of star gazing in before the clouds rolled in and didn't leave for the night. We then sat in the hot pools and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Would return next time we are in Tekapo as the pools are lovely, and I would definitely do the star gazing again and hope for better conditions next time.
G.
Absolutely one of the best hot springs I've been to in NZ. Very clean facilities and even a good cafe with drinks and food. A nice way to spend a day or few hours
E.
Great hot pools in the rain. :) absolutely recommend.
m.
Very beautiful and romantic place.
c.
Stargazing was great. We are a family of four from Auckland. Good experience to look at the sky. Staff are good and friendly. The most disappointing thing was there was no hot water in the bathroom when we want to shower after immersed in the hot pool. Moreover, toilets were smelly too. Marks should be deducted from the bathroom.
p.
Located on bank of lake tekapo, this is a perfect place to reset your body by soaking it into hot waters from hot springs. You can also enjoy a drink while soaking in hit pools and enjoying lake tekapo view.
A.
Beautiful location. Amazing springs and a very reasonable price.
The coffee wasn’t too bad either.
And that just a view from the car park.
K.
Very easy to find, the pools were warm and comforting in the cold. It IS busy, so if quiet is what you're looking for, this is not the place!
T.
Great! A nice relaxing place to stargaze in a warm pool on a cold night. Did the stargazing package at 1am which involved looking at the night sky through telescopes with a very informative guide, then onto the hot pools to relax.
E.
Fantastic place great to have a soak in the hot pools
D.
Absolutely beautiful location, soak in the hot pools while taking in the snow covered mountains
W.
Great Fun for kids tube slide are good and ice skating .. beautiful area over all
D.
So very very expensive and even more so when you add the slide and stuff in. Nice to relax.
j.
Great place to unwind and great views of the lake
J.
So relaxing winter or summer fun
A.
Absolutely beautiful setting, prices reasonable, can only imagine how gorgeous it would be in there after snow fall ❄️🌨️😊 but absolute relaxation after seeing the sights around the area all day 😊❤️
s.
It was wonderful so relaxing and the staff were so welcoming! Will be back for sure
J.
Amazing spot to soak and rest. Lovely facilities and friendly hosts. Definitely will come back.
H.
We enjoyed the pools. Not much in the village to see as in shopping. Lots of eateries places. If u have a car with a boat or bikes it's good for . But did enjoy the church on a peaceful night.
R.
After a 54k bike ride. Just what we needed. Feeling so good today
M.
Two friend and I went and did the stargazing/ hot springs tour last night and were absolutely amazed. Sang, the astronomy expert, was chock full of fascinating facts for us. His passion for science was inspiring and it taught me a lot.
We were able to see Jupiter and Saturn through the telescopes, and the night went from foggy to crisp in no time, so we were able to see the whole sky.
The hour in the hot springs was soothing, and I love the multicultural stories Sang presented about how different areas of the world viewed the constellations. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone (but make sure to dress warmly!)
V.
Didn't participate but inspected the facilities....it is a well run attraction with hot pools, ice skating rink, and snow slide etc.
Also Cafe
J.
Must visit and enjoy views and amazing experience in hot pools
D.
Beautiful area to enjoy relaxing hot pools. 3x pools open today 3x different temperatures. All lovely. An adult only pool as well. Such a lovely serene place is Tekapo.
J.
Stars overly clear at night due to lights. Great friendly and helpful staff. Hottest pool is 38degrees Celsius but could be hotter in my opinion :)
B.
Nice and clean and relaxing
W.
Stargazing is a definite must do when down south.
Relaxing and Educational.
J.
My husband and I came in August for the earlier session of their stargazing and hot pools tour. There was a bit of confusion over when/where the tour would start, but they were very quick to respond to our emails, and we ended up getting picked up at 8:15pm at their office with no trouble. We did have to wait outside for a bit before the shuttle arrived, because their office was closed. We were driven to a station in the dark sky preserve where we were given hot chocolate and tea. There were about 20 others in our tour group. A couple tour guides who were knowledgeable about astronomy (at least to me) taught us about what we were looking at in the sky, which was truly the darkest and clearest I've ever seen in my life. We all got to take turns looking through their large telescopes at various star clusters, and even Jupiter and Saturn! Then we had an easy and comfortable transition into the hot pools where we floated for quite a long time, stargazing on our own. It was a really nice experience. We were lucky enough to find a huge discount for this tour, so it was worth the price. When I found out what the regular price for this tour was, I was a bit shocked, considering we didn't get to go inside the actual observatory. You're probably paying mostly for the telescope use and hot pool. Everyone seemed to have lots of fun, and the tour guides were very friendly. The tour finished in 2 hours.
k.
Fantastic place. The 13 yr olds had a ball. Three generations there and it wss a blast.
L.
Amazing star-gazing experience here! One of our favourite activities on a 3 week trip to New Zealand! An hour's star-gazing followed by about an hour lying in a floating hammock in the hot pools, listening to stories about the stars, planets and New Zealand. Incredible!
J.
The hot spring pools were more like luke warm. Massages in the spa were nice, not exceptional. The spa facility was very basic. We did like the vening star gazing, just wished the water was a little warmer.
E.
Friendly staff, beautiful views
Clean and spacious
J.
We were very lucky to see the moon, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn through telescope and shown the constellations on the stargazing tour. The whole group was captivated by the wonderful stories told by our great guides. Would recommend this experience to anyone touring around Tekapo.
R.
3 pools open in winter with one that's adults only which is a nice touch. Check on Bookme for discounted entry.
S.
Ok for couples. Not a patch on Hamner Springs. Bit boring for kids. Was very busy and not much room either. The changing rooms and loos not enough for the amount of customers. Ice
Rink was pretty good though. Did have a café and good parking.
J.
Absolutely great. Scenery to die for.
N.
Only gave it 3 srats as there is no reception or wifi!
Apart from that its family friendly and seems clean.
Could do with more parking and bag storage.
S.
Overall, my view is the price is a little high for the experience. The pools are usually quite crowded and have no view of the lake. It is more of a public pool kind of vibe, but excellent for families and children.
The ice rink can be fun for skaters but be aware that being an outdoor rink it sometimes can be quite wet (melted) or bumpy. Quality of the hired skates can be temperamental. I recommend visiting the rink at a time just after they've groomed the ice.
We've eaten there a few times, they have a good range and pricing is reasonable.
M.
Stargazing at Tekapo springs was really good. Great to get in the hot pools after looking through the telescopes on a cold winter night.
E.
The ice skating rink was really cool and the hot pools we're amazing and so was the view
S.
The hotpools were lovely and you had a great scenery from the top pool
K.
Cool spot. Enjoyed star gazing. Saw the rings of Saturn.
J.
Lots of fun activities to do while in Tekapo. The snow-tube was a blast! Cafe was also great, try the hot chocolate!
J.
We went on a day there was hardly anyone there great pools different temperatures for people there were are few children enjoying the pools. There is a cafe on site we didnt stop there as we were staying at the holiday park. Differently worth a visit nice to relax.
D.
Kids loved the hot pools. Awesome night skies
I.
We did the 1am stargazing plus hot pools 2 hr experience. Absolutely amazing, highly recommend it for sure !!! It was too dark to take photos with my phone. Dress warmly !
K.
Relaxing and fun for everyone. The Springs have 5 pools. 1 adults pool and 4 family pools and 1of the pools have floats for children and another pool is 1.8m deep. The pool and changing rooms are clean.
C.
Lovely pools in great setting. Path up to pool not the best as all gravel.
Just got reply re gravel. Yes i can see why need gravel in winter i didnt think of that. Discovered pram/disable access after coming out.
p.
The place to be in TEkapo!!
Hot pools/ice skating/tubing/spa
The whole family will enjoy a day at the springs!
And the prices are correct
B.
I've been here a bunch and I really like it, the top hot pool is no kids allowed which is great if you're away for a romantic weekend. Food is pretty good, big portions.
Also there is an ice rink and a place to ride a blow up ring down and ice Hill, I haven't tried either of these but it looks really fun!
G.
Great hot pools and a lot cheaper through Bookme.co.nz. We ended up also buying the jump and slide pass once we got there and it was fun but definitely not worth the price.
F.
Such a great place for warming the body on a cold day. Especially after coming from Mt Cook national park and being out hiking all day. So relaxing. Great facilities with lockers so you don't have to watch your belongings while you relax.
U.
The café was quite nice with the view of lake tekapo.
G.
We were driving back from Queens town and needed a break from the 6hrs drive. Spent a couple of hours in the various pools. The adult only area was a nice and quiet. Other pools can be a little busy and noisy. The kids pool was closed when we got there because of broken glass which was disappointing for the kids. I didn't like the different packages pricing. It was a bit confusing. Oh, towels are not free. They are 5 dollars per towel.
The facility was overall acceptable. Can use some more cleaning during the day.
P.
This is all about the experience. A 2 hour guide through the stars of the southern hemisphere combined with relaxing hotpools. Obviously how much you see is weather and cloud cover dependent. A moonless night is best. An insight rather than indepth.
J.
Beautiful location! I’ve come in both the summer and the winter and both times were enjoyable. The ice skating and tube sledding were fun, but the hot springs themselves were a favorite. I wish they got a little hotter than they did, but it’s great that each pool offers a different temperature from cool to warm. Great view of the mountains. The cafe sells INCREDIBLE coffee. The best cappuccino I’ve ever had. They have vegan options available too. Not the most affordable, but definitely worth stopping by here!
D.
I’ve done stargazing last Thursday and I’d like to thank Tekapo Springs for this great experience!
Although the weather didn’t cooperate (sky was foggy as), the virtual tour was really good, super well done with high technological devices.
The hot pool at night was cozy and relaxing, but the main point was to hear the stories that the guide was passionately telling.
Whole crew was absolutely friendly and super helpful, making me feel super comfortable and welcomed.
I highly recommend Tekapo Springs Stargazing!
W.
Not a natural hot spring, but the view was great and kids love the slide
F.
Relaxing and not too crowded place to have a hot bath :-)
A.
AMAZING we will be back lots to do for the kids.
D.
Was a nice sunny day to enjoy the springs. Setting his nice, semi in a forest. Wasn’t too busy and the views were great. Small cafe with some good snacks and alcohol if that’s your thing.
You can hire a towel and the lockers are spacious and require a bank card, was around $3 for our time there and you can go in and out of the locker as needed.
D.
Love this place. Soaking in a hot pool looking at snow covered mountains in the middle of winter, what more can you ask for. Kids loved it, playing in the cooler pools. My wife enjoyed the signature spa too.
M.
Awesome place to chill and relax highly recommend
h.
Very helpful office person lovely room and view all around awesome
D.
Fabulous place to while away a few hours on a cold winter's day. Get there at opening time if you want to get a park...or be prepared for a bit of a walk
J.
Did the stargazing tour at the springs, highly recommend
V.
Positano for its drive and views, Honolulu for its weather and beaches, Taj Mahal for its architecture, Lake Takepo is one of the best places I visited for what it is. Stunning. The view in early June was incomparable. Thank you NZ and Nature.
L.
Had a fantastic time very friendly staff ☺️
M.
Great service, nice clean warm pools
C.
Waiting in line for tubing felt like forever. Got 5 turns in the hour. Would love to have gone a few more times cos it was so fun and full of screams and laughs. Well worth the trip there.
A.
Overall a good experience. Would return again.
I suggest providing a warm shower or small warm pool near the bottom of the slide. We were there in summer and I couldn't slide more than 2x before feeling the chill deep in my bones and having to run back to the main pools to warm up.
The lady at reception did not inform me that I needed to keep the receipt for the $20 deposit for the towel rental, to get the deposit back. It was pure luck that I did not throw away the receipt for the towel rental and deposit. I suggest bring your own towel.
We came at 5pm so there was no queue at the entrance. There were many people in the pools but I didn't feel overcrowded.
S.
Great views, bring your camera!!
M.
Tekapo springs is a great experience after a long active day 😊. It is a big place with hot pools, sauna, steam, ice skating, aqua play and messaging, so you find something to cater for all age groups. You have lockers, washrooms and family change rooms(separate).
Oh yes, and you have a cafe which has decent food and beverage options.
We were group of four friends, took hot pool, sauna and steam package. We did spend around 1.5hrs and thoroughly enjoyed it all.
Place was crowded, but we still had our space/privacy.
You have three hot pools with different temperatures, you can easily hop from one to other.
You find it one the way to John summit circuit. I found it reasonably priced(33$ for hot pool, steam and sauna access for all day!)for the facilities they have
It’s not natural hot springs, they are only heated/temperature controlled pools.
And from hot pools, view wasn’t as great as they have put in website, but we could see snow capped mountain peaks
M.
Nice swimming pool, different Pools with different temperature (from 27 up to 39 - the hottest pool only for adults). It was clean, the water was warm and the kids loved it. They sell swim diapers in case you forgot them. The iced coffee in the bar is delicious nu the way.
H.
Great kids and adult swimming. We all loved it.
H.
It was a very nice place to relax. The hot pools were awesome and clean. At first we were a bit annoyed cause of the many children acting wild and we really wanted to relax. But then we discovered that there are two separate hot pools only for adults, and those were the actual HOT pools. Amazing place.
A.
Tekapo "hot springs" pools are like warm at best! 38degrees wad warmest. They have 2 other pools that are 1 degree less 37/36. Didn't bother. Hot would be enough that you could see steam which you couldn't. Setting is picturesque with mountain veiws very nice. They have sauna, massage (pricey) and new inflatable slides. Good thing was all day pass you could go and come back as often as you wanted which was good.
T.
A must go whilst at Lake Tepako. We were in the hot springs when it started to snow. Magical.
A.
We love these pools. Our kids are 5 and 6 and they love them too and something special. The views are insane. No light pollution at night. Worth every penny. Expensive but worth it. The addition of the kids area is really good. Compare very well to other hot pools in the South island.
G.
Awesome star gazing in the hot pools. Great staff, with awesome knowledge and some humour mixed in. Really worthwhile experience.
D.
Not quite what we expected given how crowded it was and comparing to other hot springs we have visited. But the experience was enjoyable. You get 3 hoy pools and 2 cold + sauna a and steam room and spa available separately.
M.
A very relaxing visit after a walk to the observatory.
For what it is I think it is fairly priced and the facilities are generally excellent.
We were a bit unsure beforehand as to whether this was going to be a natural spring and to clarify this for anyone else it is not. It is a series of man made hot pools but very pleasant all the same.
We went during the day so had no opportunity for star having but have no doubt this would be a fantastic spot for it.
During the day the reviews over the lake are somewhat restricted by the angle on the hill this is on so you really need to stand up to get the real benefit. A nice setting all the same.
L.
Rather disappointed for the value you get for your money. Paid 33$ for pools, sauna and steam room. The pools are okay but not really something special tbh. The sauna and steam room are nice but I was disappointed that there wasn't a shower next to them, you had to go back to the changing room showers (the local council pools for 6$ a day in chch usually have showers next to sauna + steam). Overall the facilities seem a little bit in use of a little makeover. So overall okay experience, I did enjoy my time but don't need to go again
M.
Great relaxing hot spring after a long day of hiking or driving. The pool in the back is adults only and it’s the warmest water. The view is amazing and it’s so relaxing to sit back at watch the sunset across the lake and the mountains. The little cafe is nice as well and the fire in it is a great way to finish drying off before you head home.
D.
Nothing exciting. Pool temperatures don’t vary much.
R.
Fantastic hot pools with great views of the mountains and lake. Several different pools all with different temperatures. An adults only pool too which I didn’t try as had my daughter with me. The staff were very friendly and the only downside to the place that I could find was there was only one family changing room so had to wait 5 minutes or so but that’s not really the end of the world!
Will definitely be back and would love to come back in winter to try the other activities!
M.
Great hot springs, there are options for different temp pools and the hottest is adults only which is great! The sauna and steam rooms are very quiet. Could do with a colder pool as the coldest is 28.
R.
Nice facilities and extraordinary views . Just what was needed to end our day
F.
It's more like a warm pool instead of springs. But still nice when the weather is cold IR after a hiking.
B.
Beautiful place, relaxing hot pools and treatments, amazing view.
R.
Wonderful place. Good views of the lake. Good changing facilities with showers and lockable storage $3, even a machine to take the water from your swimsuit. sauna, steam room and spa treatments are available for extra charge. All the pools were variant degrees of very warm. Cafe here also. Lovely place to visit whatever the weather. Very relaxing.
W.
The award-winning combo of a star gazing experience under the dark sky at Lake Tekapo followed by a warming and relaxing soak in the hot pools was a highlight of my stay. Friendly knowledgeable guide imparted so much knowledge of our galaxy, my brain was buzzing with it all. Bath robe, heated changing areas and dry towel ready on emerging from the pool, they had it covered. Recommended.
B.
The springs were great, but the staff in the Cafe were quite rude.
We had 1 hour tubing time, massage, and also went to the star gazing tour at night. It was absolutely fantastic and I would definitely spend the money to do it again. The only downside is the unfriendly server(s) in the Cafe.
S.
It's a very good recreational area for a family where parents can enjoy the view of mountain in a hot water pools while children can do ice skate as well as falls and enjoy.
There we have cafe as well where you can have sandwiches or subs or cakes.
A beautiful place to spent a day.
C.
Love it 🥰, and busy place lots of tourist
D.
Had a rainy day so the pools seemed the best option. I thought they are quite expensive but we got some discounted entry using the bookme website. Found the staff friendly and our kids enjoyed the pools. We spent time going between the 4 all access pools and the 1 adults only pool. For the price you pay I thought the changing rooms seem a little bit tired. As it was raining we didn't get the view, if it was a clear night that may have improved my ranking.
z.
Nice hot pools, with a stunning backdrop of lake Tekapo and the mountains beyond. The pools themselves are nice with pleasant landscaping around them. They appear to be natural thermal pools, bit they don't smell of chlorine so that's good. $27 per adult is a little steap given what they are. Sub $20 would be a better price.
J.
Wonderful hot Springs varying temperatures. Next to ice skating rink. Great cafe
R.
Ice skating's is pretty good, but I feel like the metal frames rental should be free.
The pools are a little pricy
S.
Amazing place to visit with family. Nice hot pools and a decent sized iceskating rink.
S.
Nice and tidy. Hot pools were fun, cool pools were fun too, and not that cold!! Not too busy on a Tuesday afternoon, was very relaxing. The adult only pool was nice as well so you weren't getting splashed by kids swimming along. Not natural springs, so can put your head under the water (normal pool water). Good views!
N.
It’s always great to be back at the Tekapo Springs, the kids love it. The only thing I wish is a shower and a toilet in the family changing room. We always get stupid comments and behaviour from women/man when we have to take the kids in the women/men changing room
J.
So amazing my partner and I relaxed abd refreshed most beautiful views ever!!
A.
Fantastic springs. We visited and spent 3 hours in the springs. My son enjoyed the cooler pools for children. Nice to have shaded areas also if you don’t want to sit in the full sun. We ate in the cafe also - the food was served quickly and was tasty. I’ll be back!
C.
38 degree pool was not hot enough was not reading 38. Could do with a few more toilets in the womans. Otherwise nice and relaxing
M.
It’s a relaxing novelty but for the price you shouldn’t need to bring your own towel. It costs $5 to hire plus a $20 deposit. Also it would be better if the lockers were situated in the bathrooms as it gets quiet congested outside of the bathrooms.
A.
I actually love this place. Roughly once a month my friends and I road trip down to make full use of the outdoor ice arena. Combo that with the hot pools and you've got a great muscle relaxant to recover! Generally I'd say the prices are fairly high for the casual visitor but great value for the full day. Really happy with the friendly service, the staff are very approachable and don't come across as corporate which is very welcoming.
D.
Stargazing & hotsprings, two things that compliment each other superbly! Unfortunately however, it was very cloudy, but at least we got to use the digital tescopes to gaze upon some of our neighbouring planets. The hot pool at night was really relaxing still! Good value for money just a shame some clouds rolled in.
C.
You sit in the top hot pool and soak weary bones while taking in spectacular and picturesque views. Just go! Staff are super helpful.
C.
Amazing experience with stargazing in the hot pools at night
L.
Always a good experience. Sooth those aches and pains away. Could do with the clothes spinner back again in the males changerooms.
B.
Whilst cruising round south island in a camper, nothing nicer than to soak in the pools. Staff are fantastic and friendly which seems to spread to the customers. Lovely place. And the changing rooms are heated as a plus.
D.
There are a few things to do here besides the hot pools. We did the star gazing. It was mostly cloudy so we had a virtual reality tour. That was ok but not really what we wanted. The hot pools looking at the full moon and a few stars was a nice point of difference. Pick your times to go though and try and avoid a full moon and cloud.
B.
A bit small, but okay and clean. All three outdoor hot pools are shallow and about the same temperature, some have water jets. Sauna/Steam room is exactly that, not more or less. Steam room had a bit of a funny smell. All in all good if you need a warm-up and a shower.
L.
Clean and warm place. Good for colder evening. 🔥
T.
Great place to share with family, friendly staff plenty of temperature pools to choose from, over looking Tekapo area as well as the mountain ranges.
I.
Had a lovely swim really enjoyed it and the lady on reception was so very helpful thank you for your advise on a nice place to park our camper overnight 😊 we are out here now.
R.
Nice place and great pools. A bit busier than other similar pools I have been to before and the price was a touch high for the amount of time you would normally spend there.
K.
Lovely hidden gem! Over looking tekapo and the mountains, awesome at night star gazing
C.
Love going to the pools and my daughter loves ice skating. It is a bit pricey but you can stay all day. Went to the slide and had a wee accident. The staff were great, looked after both my daughter and I. Big high five to both of the staff members. We will back Thank you.
M.
Always a great place to visit. There now appears to be four pools of varying temperatures. The newer pool (since i was here last), has been designed for kids with lots of water world type stuff. Ice skating was open as was the tubing down the purpose built ice slide. It was very busy (school holidays i guess), but the pools were reasonsbly quiet. Highly recommended.
S.
To be honest: we were looking for a shower. That's why we drove to lake Tekapo Campground. But instead spending our money there, we had a day at the springs, had pools, sun, showers and even some money left. Instead of staying at the campground we went to a free campground just 10 minutes at another lake. Was a good bargain for us :-).
The springs are clean and its nice to have different hot pools. It offers some lake views but not while lying in the pools. What the definetely should improve are deck chairs (there are only 3 (three!)) or Amy other possibility for lying at the pools.
There are no kids allowed at the hottest pool which is great from everyone. For those with kids there are 3 more pools left, for those who are looking for a quot place this pool is the place to be. There is a huge slide for kids but that's a bit to expensive (from a backpacker view).
Staff is absolutely kind and lovely and they'll try to help where they can.
N.
Lovely pools and Awesome environment
A.
Fantastic, not rushed experience. Very relaxed and well organised.
Bubbly, charismatic and knowledgeable tour guide, good stuff Dan!
Loved looking through the telescopes to see planets, the moon in super clarity and stars.
The hot pools are great as you float, gazing at the night sky.
M.
Lovely sauna, but the water slide hurt when I went on it. Like, it whips you as it lacks the amount of water needed to make it a smooth ride.
Also, no swimming lanes. Just a warning.
N.
It's what it says. Hot pools. The view is wonderfull and everything is quite clean. Even though it's very strange to walk in front of all the people coming in, in your bikini.
The sauna is very nice. But it's a pity, that there is no room to relax between the sauna uses. But it's just not a common thing in new Zealand in general.
G.
The hot pools were amazing. The atmosphere and ambience in and around the pools was lovely.
The service at the cafe was a little slow. Took them 30 mins to make a bowl of potato wedges at lunch time on a Sunday.
However, once the food was ready, the quality was just fine.
I'd definitely come back.
A.
Wasn't what we were hoping for. The waters were warm but not hot, I think the hottest pool was 39°C. And I personally couldn't get very comfortable sitting or laying in the waters. We left after only 30 minutes. I wish they would add more comfortable laying\sitting possibilities in the water and have a pool 41°C+ and an ice plunge pool with -10°C water.
P.
Good place to relax, but if you're wanting that alpine mountain views from a quiet natural outdoor pool experience, then this is not the place to go. Water was nice and warm, but it just felt like a big outdoor bath, very busy and there werent really any views.
r.
Amazing views from the hot pools and well maintained pools..great place to spend time for families and couples. One small issue..their snow tube belt was not in operation and the staff at the counter did not mention that to us otherwise we would not have bought the tickets. One cannot expect an 8yr old to drag the heavy tube up the steap hill. It was waste of money as we left after two rides ( instead of the 1hr allocated time).
K.
Great pools. Very clean. Brilliant outlook over Lake Tekapo and the mountains.
F.
The place is very crowded and could possibly do with a better cashier system. Staff were friendly and the place was great for kids old and young
C.
After tracking in the mountains, this is a great place to recharge. Not natural thermal water, but heated spring water makes soaking equally relaxing. They have several pools at different temperatures overlooking the lake.
Stargazing is possible at nights with special after hours ticket.
Sauna and steambath present, but not up to standards. Finnish Sauna was very humid (90%,when it should be 20-40), steambath not really steaming at all. To me, these were not worth trying at all.
The rest is excellent. Towel and bathing suit rental available!
R.
Amazing place for relaxing. Would highly recommend to go around sunset time. Mountains can be seen from pool.
J.
Great place to visit. We ice skated, snow tubed and then hit the hot pool. All three activities were great for the family and suitable for all ages. All against the backdrop of picturesque Lake Tekapo and the surrounding mountains.
C.
Man-made hot spring, good for a country town. They also provide massage services, restaurant for a quick grab and water slides. This place can be very crowded and expect a long queue to buy a ticket/pass on-peak hours.
R.
A relaxing novelty near Lake Tekapo but there are a couple things I would've done differently:
1. The springs should have been built right beside a central part of the lake where a more open panorama of the lake's famous turquoise waters and mountains are visible from every hot pool in the springs. These gorgeous views are not put on display in the way you would hope, since the springs are situated on one slope of Mt. John, among the trees.
2. Feature pools of varying temperatures for adults only (there is only one adult pool that isn't too hot, probably only 37 or 38 degrees, and gets rather crowded since there is not another option).
3. The configuration of the pools doesn't make much sense. The springs' coldest pool is situated closest to the lake with the best view. However, the hottest pool (which is the only adult pool) is situated furthest from the lake views. This should've been the opposite, since everyone gravitates to the hottest, most private pools.
4. Again with location/configuration: New Zealand is famous for the Southern Lights. And Tekapo, more specifically, is a world renowned International Dark Sky Observation area. Thousands of people visit each year just to stare into the skies. That being said, Tekapo Springs, arguably the most famous and frequented attraction in the town, has no clear, unobstructed view of the southern sky. This could have been a MAJOR selling point, but unfortunately it was overlooked, as there is no way to see the auroras while you have a soak.
5. The prices are insanely high for what you're getting, simply because of its location in the tourism town of Tekapo.
6. This is a manmade hot "spring" in a non-geothermal area.
This place is more of a novelty than anything. I have visited much less expensive hot springs that were both naturally geothermal and had a better configuration, with a variety of pool temperatures and types. It's nice to visit if you're in the area and have $27+ to spend.
K.
Loved it, great for relaxing and very warm, safe with many lifeguards
j.
Ice skating was very good, website was terribly set up and the hot pools were too small
to contain the amount of people.
A.
Really love these hot spring pools, especially at night! Great coffee too
s.
We have a nice evening at the visitor center. The staff here are nice and kindly taking care of our trip cancellation and also give us sincere recommendations of activities we can do in lake Tekapo. Very nice!
L.
I love this place! Nice and quiet especially after dark. Beautiful atmosphere and scenery (if you can see anything through the steam). And a hot chocolate after pool, amazing. We visit every year and my favourite hot pool so far.
C.
I had a massage with Sandy who wonderful and looked after me, making sure I was comfortable. I felt very relaxed and the Swedish massage was great. Thanks Sandy for your care and I really appreciated your time!
S.
Very busy when we went, but pools were great and nice and warm. Tad expensive for a family day out but om for a special occasion
M.
A lesser know hot pools but still good. Less crowds than somewhere like hanmer which is nice. Very relaxing as not many kids around. Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Would be great to visit at night
M.
Great destination for some family fun or to just relax.
M.
Loved it, family friendly.
Great way to just go in and relax or go and have fun. so much to choose from. And not that expensive.
U.
Even though we went there during end of November, we really enjoyed it. There are three different pools with different water temperatures. There are pay as you go lockers available as well as limited number of pigeon holes near the pools for the towels. There is ample free parking. Price seemed reasonable. And there is a nice little cafe inside the premises as well. Lifeguards are on duty. Not that u would need any in the 3 or 4 feet pools. All in all a nice hot spring pool area with a nice view of Lake Tekapo.
M.
Great place, but expensive food & drinks.
J.
Not crowded at midafternoon in the winter. Spectacular scenery. Saunas and plunge pool we had to ourselves. Pools were spacious with a choice of 3 temps but absence of a spa pool detracted. Still prefer Hanmer Springs for the pools. Changing rooms and showers were roomy and clean. And really enjoyed the Revive massage and facial special at the day spa. Cafe was cold, noisy and food was just ok. Eat in town before heading over. Didn't try out the skating rink or tube slide but folks looked like they were enjoying those.
R.
Awesome spot. Bit of construction going on, which sort of dampens the beautiful vibe, but nice spot. Try book the spots with the best view.
g.
Tekapo spings were divine. Exactly what we needed after traveling for 3 months. 3 different temperatured hot pools. Perfect to swith between temperatures and just relax. Sfter which then cold pool, Sauna and Steam room hit the spot! Our friend then went and got a massage which he said was amazing as well. Absolutely wonderful experience.
G.
Awesome if you need a nice relaxing soak under the sky. The stargazing tour includes a float under the stars which is a definite must if your looking for something to do in the evening, informative talk too. Ive not shut up about The floating hammocks since.
T.
In the summer it is a bit expensive considering what you get, probably more fun in the winter combining the pools with ice skating. The pools are ok, dressing rooms too.
S.
Nice location and great pools to relax after a day of hike. Cafe is good too and there are good entertainment options for the little ones.
A.
Really nice hot pools! Please be aware these are not natural hot springs these are hot pools with chlorine. Still amazing and the view is fantastic! Would be great in future to get rid of the chlorine in these pools and potentially go for a more natural option. Awesome to take in the view and chill out.
N.
A very family friendly place with ample facilities for both adults and children. My partner and I got the pass to enjoy the 3 types of hot pools, the sauna, the steam room and the plunge pool. All for $33NZD which we thought was reasonably priced. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would recommend it for everyone.
J.
It's a very cool place, the ice sliding was my favourite and the hot pools are very nice. Its quite expensive but if its for a special occasion or event like an anniversary/big birthday it's worth it
M.
Such a surreal place to see the stars. We went to the midnight session and it was fun. Some cloud came over and we lost the chance to use the telescopes but that can't be helped. It's not as romantic as might imagine because you will be in a big group of strangers floating in the pool. It's not that big so expect to rub up against other people. The staff were great and the presenter was very knowledgeable.
J.
Clean, good service. We did all pools + steam/sauna. I would skip the steam and sauna unless you are a die-hard fan. The 40c adults only pool was quite present in the rain. Didn't find any true cold pools. Also, bring your own towel as I did not see any there. Lockers are spacious, $3 for 3h. Lots of families on a Sat afternoon, as expected.
E.
Amazing place. It's possible to find cheaper tickets on book.me. The view in the summer is beautiful, but the view is better in the winter because the ice will be over the mountains. The pools are hot, but at the end of the day the coldest pool will be not good anymore, and the pools are not cover, this mean that you will need to use sunscreen.
If you wanna use the sauna, it's necessary to buy a more expensive ticket.
n.
Definitely recommend for all ages. Please extend your coffee shop.area though. Always over crowded. Friendly staff
L.
Family friendly camping grounds. Hot pools are great with a stunning view
T.
Really helpful and friendly staff
Beautiful lying in pools with snow falling on my head!
S.
Really enjoyable visit to the pools beautiful on a cold and frosty day.
J.
Loved the hot pools, bouncy castle is awesome! Can't wait to try the ice skating!
B.
Great well designed facility! Views over lake Tekapo and the mountains. Nice warm water pools and splash pad for children as well as an impressive bouncy castle set up. Great family stop.
T.
Pools weren't hot enough. Decent sauna and steam room tho. But, pools definitely weren't that hot.
A.
A treat in winter to soak yourself in hot pools.
J.
View wasn't as good as the advertising showed but it was a great experience.
R.
Pools nice (if a tad busy), but changing facilities pretty poor. I haven't seen a swimming pool with changing areas so outdated for years, so was expecting better for the price. Lockers expensive at an extra $3. Views also pretty much nonexistent down at pool level, shame they didn't opt for an infinity pool design.
n.
An amazing night time star gazing session!
The guide was really informative and really knew his stuff. We had a perfect day for star gazing and we were able to see Jupiter.
All the staff were extremely professional and helpful with our questions.
The hot pools were a fabulous end to the evening.
S.
A lovely setting, pools are clean. Dressing rooms are spacious and clean. Staff are wonderful.
M.
We bought a bookme voucher for the pools for $12,5pp, which was a great deal! The time was unlimited, but after about 2 hours you don't have anything to do. Everything was clean and nice, but I was disappointed I couldn't lock my bag anywhere - you have to pay for renting a locker, which seems a little ridiculous, should be a normal service. Otherwise there is also sauna, spa and ice rink so if you're not traveling on a budget you'll enjoy it a lot I think.
R.
We went on the day spa- that was really great. The staff there were really good and proffesional. Later that day, we went on the star gazing experience including hot pools. I would rate that a lot less. The staff was nice at first, but our main guide wasnt too nice. He was rude to me and it ruined the experience for me- that otherwise could've been great. I almost decided to leave the place after the way he spoke to me. I was expecting this experience so much and was very dissapointed. They should only employ guides who can communicate nicely with people.he was very knowledgeable but that gives you nothing when he isn't nice to you.
M.
Great fun and friendly staff! Great evening of skating for the kids and a warm fire for me to sit in front of as I watched them!
J.
Great entertainment for kids and what's not to like about soaking muscles sore from skiing.
C.
Perfect for relaxing after a long day of hiking. We didn't get to see the stars because there was too much light pollution here. Lockers and showers on sight as well as towels for rent if you need them.
C.
Springs are really just heated pools. Water is said to be from the ground but everything else is artificial. I've skating boots were horrible. They didn't fit no matter what size you tried and were bad quality, it made it impossible to skate. Everything else was fine and not very expensive.
L.
Would be great if there was an outside bar/Cafe by the pools to get a drink at without having to go inside
