Saw Little Shop of horrors, the show was slick the singers/actors were totally on point and the band just killed it musically. Production values were just outstanding. Well worth a visit if there's a show on you'd like to see!!! Highly recommended!!!

The productions that The Court put on never fail to entertain, move, and amaze. They push boundaries to reimagine old classics, cult classics and newer works as well but never lose the ability to connect with new theatre goers whilst keeping old hands enthralled. The food available before the shows is delicious and makes for a great one stop entertainment experience.

Went to the opening night of Frankenstein. Such a good show. Very technically effective using dance and lighting to represent weather. The monster created by Frankenstein has a huge part to play and I was so impressed with his acting. A very polished and professional show. Highly highly recommended!

I absolutely love the Court Theatre. The outstanding variety of quality shows, the unique venue, great location and parking, good food and bar, welcoming and helpful staff, makes this a all-round excellent experience. I will be sad to see it move to a new central city location, but I know it will be an additional enhancement to the performing arts precinct in our city.

Saw 'Frankenstein' here. I loved the show, so evocative of Mary Shelley's novel with truly wonderful physical portrayal of nature's elements by a dexterous ensemble. Strong characterisation by the actors, creating sympathy for the Creature in its loneliness and persecution even as the ripples of his despair create wider tragedy around him. Memorable and befitting a classic. Special mention to Tom Eason as Victor Frankenstein.

Went to Scared Scriptless at the Court Theatre and it was hilarious! They use whatever set the Court Theatre is using at the time and run with it. Quick witted, full of energy and talent. Definitely worth booking tickets for. You could even make a night of it and buy some drinks or food before the show. Highly recommend.

Even while locked alone in a shed behind the train station this group of passionate people put on Blockbuster shows that rival those of Broadway itself. Expect a good time and good pizza. Update 2022: Still Brilliant!

Excellent local Theatre. If you haven't already you have to go to one of their shows. They have a great variety of events for all age groups. Facilities are great. Good selection of food and drink for you to enjoy before your event. Staff are great, and there are lots of them.

The production I saw was very acoustically challenged and I know there would have been ways to make that work better for the audience. Ticket prices are quite high and although I know costs are high the audience has to have some assurance they will at least be able to hear the actors.

We went to the Early Early Late Show (4pm on certain Sunday's of the month) which was just great fun for the whole family. The four court jesters were really funny and entertained us for over an hour with their improvisation comedy. They actively involved the kids in the audience on stage and we laughed rhe whole way through. Great family activity to wrap up the weekend.

This place is great, it has an amazing atmosphere and well worth your time if you want to try something new. Thankyou Court theatre for another amazing show.

Incredible place with great fun performances. Saw Wind in the 2and it was perfect. They also have improv shows which are also very funny. I find it great that they host the finals to the Theater Sports Competitions as well. All in all, great place, great shows, and - oh yeah! Great food as well.

Fantastic performance. Appeared to be a full house. Great area for pizza before the show and great atmosphere. One thing I found difficult was the rows of seating were abit close and all the stairs getting to the theatre and the steep stairs inside the theatre, we're difficult for an older person to negotiate. Plenty of parking right outside with disabled parking at the door.

The Court Theatre is brilliant with their live stage performances. I have seem a number of performances there and they were all really great entertainment. I enjoyed the comedy the best and I have to say it was done very well. This is a must go place and I am sure you will find the evening most entertaining. Look for the Court Theatre online and check their events schedule.

Attended a performance of Hedwig and the Angry Inch with my partner and the whole place was buzzing with people everywhere which was great to see. The show itself was absolutely superb and we were engrossed for the hour and forty minutes than it ran for. Time passed by so quickly. It was a great night out and would highly recommend people who havnt experienced live theatre give it a go as you won't be disappointed.

Came here to see the 2017/2018 season of Chicago. Outstanding!! Fantastic and professional performance that means I'll be keeping my eye out for the next musical. The venue (an old converted warehouse) has been very tastefully outfitted and includes wood fired pizza that operates on a first come, first served basis. Great spot :)

Hands down my favourite theatre in Christchurch. You walk down a dodgy alleyway surrounded by crumbling, quake-damaged walls. The road has potholes deep enough to drown a child. Rounding the corner you hit a chain link fence, bordering a railtrack. In the distance is a steel shed with the words "Court Theatre" mockingly displayed, all-in-all resembling a concentration camp more than a fount of the arts. With a sinking feeling in your gut, you steel yourself and stride in... to find that it is almost disappointingly nice. A large auditorium with various eateries, branching off into a number (two? three?) of theatres. Great lightning, great acoustics, great performances. And next time you trick a girl into going to the theatre with you, you can have the pleasure of walking her down the same alleyway to the theatre.

We went to see one of the court theater's school holiday shows - 10$ for adults or kids and they had a nice variety of days and times to choose from. Stress free experience all around from getting able to pick up the tickets at the door and the friendly staff. Was a great first 'proper' theater experience for our 3-yo and we will definitely be back!

The Court Theatre is a great venue for local theatre. It has its own bar and snacks available, as well as a pizzeria. I have been to see Scared Scriptless a number of times (it runs almost every Friday and Saturday night) and I have thoroughly enjoyed myself each and every time. Great laughs, great audience involvement, and a completely impromptu show! You never know what to expect. Highly recommended.

Saw Chicago- amazing experience from all involved. Beautiful set and props, excellent show, wonderful band, team behind the scenes seemed very well organised. Took advantage of the under 30s ticket offer and would absolutely go again- great scheme to keep the arts scene accessible to those on lower incomes.

I like the fact that it's in an old building but the interior is new and incorporates the old brick building look. It also has good shows that don't break the bank and they serve pizza and drinks when ordered, which is nice.

I've been here for Scared Scriptless a few times now. It's always been a great show to see, and the Court Jesters are hilarious. Great vibes in the foyer too, with Base Woodfired Pizza cooking up delicious food; and a bar, where you can often have a drink with the performers after the show. Went to a performance of Stephen King's book Misery. The acting was superb; was drawn into the story. No wait times at food stands. More than simple leg room on comfy seats. Small cosy theater.

Saw 2 shows within a week. The outside building and grounds is a little poor on glamour. But the inside is very chic, market feel inside. Dioramas down one wall. Hive of activity prior to any of the shows. First show was the Christmas Special - Wind in the Willows. A superb night out. Great costumes and stage craft and wizardry. Very believable actors as animals. Toad was a hoot. Beep beep. The 2nd show last night was a Christmas Carol, amazing. Exuberance galore from the main actors but special performances from all those who were reluctantly lucky to be pulled out of the audience. Star of the night was Inga as a ghost and the portly female / gentleman - indeed. And don't forget the innocent children who showed no fear. I happened to be a polar bear and could have milked this, but was worried about being evicted or worse still booed. We sat at tables with table cloth and a Christmas ornament. I think there is an opportunity here for a dinner theatre experience. Main meal, show, dessert during intermission and the final part of the show.

Titus Andronicus-as usual a brilliant production. The abundance of local talent never ceases to amaze us. Already booked for 'Easy Money', yet again a very talented and versatile cast. Kiwi talent is as good if not better than any I saw as a regular attendee at Manchester's famous Royal Exchange, and there were many famous names on show. Latest production 'Easy Money ' a Roger Hall comedy was one of the funniest plays I have seen. As usual a stellar cast led by the multi talented Roy Snow. Already looking forward to the next production.

The Court Theatre is a professional theatre company that is up there with some of the best in the world. Over the course of a season they perform a wide range of plays ranging from popular classics to more edgy recent material. They also regularly perform material written by New Zealand playwrights. There company is made up of both experience and apprentice New Zealand actors who all put their heart and soul into every performance. Each season they also feature a musical - a production always eagerly anticipated and always sold out.

I recently went and saw Chicago at the court theatre. The show itself was rather good I thought for a local production. However, the facilities themselves weren't that great. The toilets are poorly designed and located with queues going around corners for people waiting to use the toilets the bar area was small and not a lot of area for people to mingle before the show.

I love the court theatre. So much. They're Innovative, fresh, honest with their theatre. I saw "In the next room or the vibrator play" there a few days ago and was moved to tears and laughter, sometimes at the same time, it was humourous (expected being a comedy) and completely heartwrenching. The court theatre are also really big in encouraging the arts in Christchurch especially for youth, which I really appreciate. They have great ticketing options that make it easier for young people to see things they wouldn't otherwise eh: $30 tickets for below 30's and a pay what you can performance for each show. Another thing which I felt deserved a shout-out is the fact they they are professional, and do pay fairly for the work the actors put in, unlike another Christchurch company that puts on a big show and constantly sellls out but only pays the leads, if they're lucky. They appreciate and understand intelligent and honest art at The court theatre, makeing them my favourite in Christchurch and a company I will never sease to recommend.
