Reviews of Maungaraho Rock Reserve
R.Did the base track walk around this amazing natural rock feature. It is only a 45 min easy walk around the base and well worth the effort, if you have the energy there is also a summit track, didn't attempt that this time but one day.The car park is only 20 min drive from Dargaville so check it out if you are visiting.

A.Great track. Haven't done summit myself but did the base track with an adventurous 2.5 yo
L.Gentle walk around the base of Maungaraho Rock. There is a summit climb for the more experienced person with fab views from the top. Care is needed as ropes and ladders are used to help the climb and going in a group or at least with someone else is preferred.

I recommend a sunny day as i'v climbed it before on a wet day and it was VERY hard🤐😫
H.It's a great spot and a fun climb but the track is not well maintained, and the signage pointing the way up is too easy to miss, so some people get lost and have to turn back or climb unsafe areas.
M.It’s a great stopover in this region. Track up to the rock is pretty steep but manageable for most of people, hard to access it on wet day as the rocks a too slippery... but other than that, brilliant spot.
A.Great climb I personally thought the track at time was confusing I had to stop to get my bearings again.the climb was worth the view although due to it been very windy I didn't attempt the last climb,
P.Awesome walk. Great views. Track mostly well signposted but loop track needs more work to prevent taking wrong turns. Shame about graffiti all over summit rock as this is a sacred place to iwi.
