Very cool place to visit! The road is sealed all the way to the car park, but it is winding and narrow. Walk along the beach to the rock tunnels and arches, they are very cool. We saw penguin tracks on the beach and saw a female sea lion relaxing in the sand. The views are awesome. Do it!

The most beautiful beach... caves and everything!

Stunning views; meet friendly people and their pet dogs along the way; easy walk for elderly and those with slight mobility issues (can only walk on the flat); plenty of parking; gear for swimming and paddling; rocks to climb and fancy shells to collect if the tide is on your side; caves to explore; check the tides b4 you go so that you arrive at low tide. The best Dunedin beach in my opinion

Nice walk, easy on the beach along the cliff and caveslike rocks. Push to the lookout on the hill to enjoy great views. BUT, needs to be low tide otherwise its gonna be a shorter walk...

My family loves this beach. The water is so clear, we love trying to spot sealife when swimming. The rock pools keep Miss 4 entertained when not swimming. The sand feels soft and luscious, which makes exploring the beach a real pleasure.

Absolutely picture perfect off the beaten track. Golden sands beech and interesting rock formations including the tunnel.

What a great beach. There is a very cool cave about 10 min from the parking area. Sandy bottom and no need for a flashlight. Also, walk all the way to the end of the beach and you can walk out on the rocks to get an even better view. This is a must see beach for anyone who is visiting NZ!!

We went for a swim and it was cool but late March so understandable. A bit of a tidal flow and shelf but nice and calm

A short drive from Dunedin Centre. It is a very scenic drive to the beach. In low tide it is a nice long walk. This area has blue penguins and seals. There are also traps from the Halo Conservation Projects to help with the eradication of predictors such as stouts, rats, possums etc. Dogs are allowed but on the leash. Make sure to check for low tide in the area before visiting as the caves are impassable at high tide.

One of my favourite spots for a walk. A beaut beach with a cave and sheltered coves. There may be penguins and seals so keep dogs on a leash.

Nice beach with some historic value of the location of an old Maori settlement.

This is a beach Reserve. It encompasses an inlet and also a beach facing the open ocean. At low tide you can walk a couple of km South East along the beach and explore an ancient Maori Pa (village) and, along the way, investigate some interesting geology left by ancient volcanic activity. Take care not to disturb any seals that my be resting on the beach or rocks.

Not really much to say. Another pretty standard beach. Few caves around when you walk further down the beach. Lots of cockles in shallow sand if that's your think. Not a bad fishing spot.

Make sure you walk the entire beach. It's like a little coromandel within Dunedin with rocks and cave. You can swim to the island, especially at low tide. Not popular so not many people come, making it feels like a private island for yourself :)
