L.Ticket checkout staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Always good but lately in the last few months the popcorn tastes like the popcorn at the bottom of the box...all husky and bitsy. Maybe it needs cleaning out?
U.Good size screen and spacious cinema hall. Seats are terrible though. They don't recline, are at a funny angle which made my neck and back ache, and they have a little table jutting halfway across the front of each seat for food and drinks, which I personally felt were a nuisance.
A.Very clean and well maintained cinema theaters. Decent sound and picture quality.
P.We stopped into the Reading Cinemas on the Octogon yesterday. It was a good day for catching a movie. We were at the afternoon session so it wasn't busy and we pretty much had the cinema to ourselves. The service was excellent. We had a light lunch and the usual popcon for the movie. Very comfy seats in the premium theatre our movie screened in. The cinema and foyer areas were really clean and tidy. Overall was an awesome cinema experience!

A bar counter is great with combos. Popcorn can be improved as it seems to be cold and extra salty at times
Make sure to come early enough to grab your tickets, snacks etc and sit and settle down in the Cinema before the Movie starts rolling !
Reminder : Please Stop chatting and Turn off your Damn phones while the movie is Rolling in the Cinema lounge as it is considered very Rude and inconsiderate to other people who comes in there just to Enjoy the movie .
Create very minimum and Least disturbances as much as possible by avoiding walking In and out of Cinema exit doors for Toilets and God knows for WHAT ELSE !

A.Great experience here at this modern facility. Took our 3 kids (11, 5, 0) here today and the staff were amazing. Spent 95 for 4 tickets and a few food items, but the $12 tickets are pretty great, so shouldn't complain. Pretty comfortable seats, but I'm pretty tall so wish they were just a little taller in their backs, but generally good. This is our local, and our preferred over the alternatives!

Prices for refreshments are extortionate, not to mention you can not do student rates online.
Makes for a very expensive activity. All things considered, it's easy to see why video piracy is prevalent in today's society.

L.Nice and friendly staff and lovely clean cinema. Only downside is the volume level of the film - way too loud especially seeing as film was a drama/comedy. Needed to go and get earplugs and would recommend for others to bring them.

D.The cineplex style movies in Dunedin so it has all the basics but is reasonably simple. Decent menu selection at the normal movie extortion prices including beer and wine. A satisfactory viewing experience although the smaller screen size detracts a bit with visually spectacular movies. A good cinema to take the family or for teenager dates, just not your choice for immersing in a cinema experience.
D.Great wee place to relax and spend some time with the family! Only downside would probably be the hefty price. But if you have some money to spend and are looking for something fun to do this should definitely be an option.
J.Best theatre in Dunedin. I think. Cinemas are slightly smaller than most but it creates a better atmosphere. Occasionally you can here the sound from a different movie slightly during the one you are watching. As with all cinemas, the food is expensive. Overall a good modern theatre that I'll be returning to.
g.I went and watch Godzilla vs king kong the sound quality was really good and the staff where really nice when I went to buy popcorn I highly recommend this movie theater
R.Great space and seating. Good prices for films. Didnt buy any drinks etc. So cant comment on that. Toilets a tad smelly, could have done with a clean but other than that all good.
P.Great seating in premium. The board doesn't show which cinema you're in, so have to go to the country anyway. Pointless buying tickets online. Clean cinemas with good food and drink options at bar. Heaps of booth seating while waiting.
M.what an amazing cinema, the staff are friendly, the popcorn is good, te drinks are a good size and quality, the cinema's themselves are high quality, 12 seats in each row and rows from A-K (12x12 seating plan) the screen size is perfect just like the sound system, the seats are also really comfortable.
the only problem I have is the fact it does tell you if a certain cinema is closed for cleaning so you could be going to a movie and get there about 25-30 minutes early and have no clue if it's open until 5 minutes before the movie. that's all I really hate about it and it's for my own nit-picky reasons so aside from that, it's a great place.
M.Casual cinema with six theaters. Big, comfy seats at a great price ($11 for a standard showing). Snacks are expensive, as usual, but they don't seem to mind if you bring your own (or they don't seem to have any interest in checking bags).
J.I love coming here. But only can go when captions on captions device. Which is limited. The staff is great and always has listened to our feed back and frustrations. The seats are nice and comfy and makes a great date.
A.I come here quite often for movies, it’s a nice place. They have large and spacious cinemas and well-priced movie tickets. Only thing is that their bathrooms upstairs could be a little cleaner than it is.

J.Great value tickets and range of movies. Comfy seats. The food is nice and reasonably priced, as are the drinks. Like the loyalty card scheme too, easy to build up points to get cheap tickets every so often.
C.The good: modern theatre, six big screens, good sound, assigned seating.
The bad: the only parking nearby before six pm is $2.50 an hour with a three-hour max. If you're thinking about seeing an afternoon movie that's over two hours long, that's a huge problem.
M.Great movie. Poor number of staff. One person giving out tickets, coffees, popcorn and ice cream. Very slow.
D.We went and saw the Grinch. Great movie. I recommend not buying cup drinks for a 4 year old. She wore it and was soaking wet. But on the upside comfy seats. Im going to see Dumbo next! Looks epic.
G.The movie quality was good without the volume being excessively loud as is the case in a number of other cinemas. The food is, like pretty much every other cinema in the world, pretty ordinary and extremely expensive. I tried the hot jam donut bits and found that only the donuts were hot with the jam and canned "cream" both refrigerated.
Go for the movie but eat before you get there.
D.Nice theatre. Movie good, too. Just a shame it's hard to deal with seat-stealers. I booked my (selected) seats two days in advance abs ended up with a crook neck as we got stuck down the front just because I'm not good at confrontation with strangers, & they refused to move from our seats.

R.Thoroughly enjoyed Reading Cinemas in Dunedin. It's a classy place, with tasteful decorating and plenty of space, so it doesn't feel crowded. As for in the actual cinema room, the seats are very comfy and spacious, and they're kept very clean and tidy, I never see any evidence of people being in there before, and I go a lot!
Pricing for tickets is very good. Pricing for food and drinks is as to be expected at any cinema: grossly overpriced. But, this doesn't irk me too greatly because it's close to a bunch of dairies and they don't really care if you take food in.
Sound system and visuals are exemplary, couldn't fault them if I tried!
Overall a very nice place!
A.I have been here a few times in the past few weeks and have to say that I have had good experiences. One staff member was a bit rude, but it was busy and the signage wasn't very clear so maybe I was the one who made a mistake. I know that the exit lights have to be on, but can they be dimmed during the feature?
M.Great facility with good seating and theatre environment. The staff were good but we could have done with one extra ticket seller. We got there in the end and when I forgot one of my drinks the staff brought it to me in the theatre - so thumbs up.
I.Good cinema, reasonable prices and when you have your Reading club card you get good rewards including free popcorn and drinks, also 5$ vouchers. Big salons have great audio systems. Can be a bit cold at winter night so putting on different layers is recommended.
R.Big change from the old hoyts cinema but in a good way. They offer standard theatres and also a slightly more expensive but more comfortable theatres which have a small table for sitting all your goodies to munch on during the film. Their prices are pretty standard and staff are friendly.

P.Reading Cinemas is a great place to see a movie. Standard tickets are only $10 50 seven days a week. There are two dine in Cinemas that cost a little more but you can order hot food and take it in the Cinema with you. The picture and sound quality are excellent and the seating very comfortable.

S.Affordable tickets every day . food prices differ ( still expensive) as they have two sorts of cinema rooms , premium is a few extra dollars but still cheaper than most cinemas and you can buy and take in the hot food they sell. Overall its a great way to see awesome movies
M.It’s alright but Rialto is better.
It’s quite an ugly place, concrete walls, weird entrance ceiling, etc.
The seats are far less comfortable than the seats at Rialto.
They have the grosser drinks: Pepsi, 7 Up, Mountain Dew. Rialto has good drinks.
The price is better for adults and students, but only by a dollar or two. Rialto is only $10 for anyone under 14, and has good family deals.
B.Nice and comfy cinema. You can buy a ticket via one of their self-service kiosks, similar to the McDonald self-service kiosks. $10 a ticket for one adult.
Friendly staff and relax atmosphere.
Would I go back? Definitely.

A.Good place to go to watch a movie.. Nice comfortable seats great sound and very affordable @ 12, they have premium cinemas for $15 which the gives you more seat room and a swing table for your food.

M.Accessible movie house for those in a wheelchair. We were in Cinema 3 in the ground floor and noticed that there are spaces for wheelchairs or prams. The lobby has tables and bar style seats. The carpark along Moray Place is conveniently located. Walk along the covered side alley which takes you straight to the cinema. It is a nice cinema that won't break the bank.
J.Overall the cinema is fantastic. But on this occasion during the quieter scenes of the movie we could hear loud music thudding through the walls from the adjacent screen theatre. Was a bit offputting.
J.I love this place so much. Friendly staff. Cheap tickets. Great selection of food and beverages. The seats are so comfortable as well, which is good because of the long time you have to sit down.

C.Reading Cinema is obviously more modern in design and has a well made lounge and waiting area. They also have 6 theatres like that in Rialto and a better (should you prefer modern looking) feel. Prices are also cheaper and they've also installed self purchase kiosks. The only downside would be the overall smaller screens, but with that is a smaller theatre sitting less chairs as well to ensure everyone gets a decent view.
P.So cool to have a eating/seating area with power outlets for people to hangout and chill before/after movies. Tickets are not expensive either. Clean and comfy theatres.
A.Watched a movie there today, staff was friendly, super comfy seats but it was just to cold during the movie. I had to use my jacket as a blanket. And in cinema 2 the surround sound (apparently 7.1) wasn't working probably, all you could here was the front speaker.
S.Prices good but honestly never seen the self serve kiosks ever work. Always have the out of order signs on.. If you ever want to go: buy your tickets online and arrive 20mins early.

O.My favourite place coz I love movies, watch lot of movies, nice and good place staff are good, good price for movie, like their pop corn, i have very good experience in reading except my last visit, while watching Avenger with my wife there are bunch of people at back was really annoying, making so loud noise and laughing giggling dont know why and what happened to them.I dont want to change my sit during the movie or want to go outside to talk to staff members coz I dont want miss single minute of my movie so I think its just my bad luck. Its really nice place to watch movie one of the best place in Dunedin.

E.The place is good but .... The line to buy tickets and popcorn is the same . We brought the tickets on the automatic counter and had to wait big line for some popcorn . May be to separate to que .... Any how the movie darkest hours was very good

R.A nice enough cinema, they do all the usual things you would expect. The little tabley things are a nice idea but it would be considerably better if they could slide or fold away at least a little, not great for taller people.

A.Perhaps the best cinema in Dunedin, this recently renovated movie theatre has an industrial interior design, and standard ticket for all movie are $10, much is much cheaper than the movie theatres in Auckland.
A.It got really hot. Because it was a event it was almost full, would have been nice if they'd accommodated for all the body heat.
W.Spacious comfortable seating, well kept and overall a good cinema experience. The popcorn though was very heavily salted and made my children ill.
