R.Fabulous old movie theatre that still retains a lot of it's old school charm. Worthy of a visit just to see beautiful architecture from earlier times. Plus, great food drinks and service. Highly recommend :)

The cinema is great though. Buy a 5 book of tickets to make it worth your time.
The comfy and the cinemas are nicely air conditioned.
Paper straws in cups of Coke meant to last you 3 hours just don't work.
C.Really good Cinema. Great staff who are friendly and helpful. Good movies on at the moment, too many for the time I have...will have to prioritize which ones to see first. Enjoying going back after the enforced break. I like that you can buy a hot drink to take into the cinema. Love the chocolate dipped icecreams too.

A.We got given some tickets, so my 4year old and I went to see the new Boss Baby 2 movie. The staff were awesome. They made us feel really comfortable, which is a bonus for me and social anxiety! This was the first time my Daughter had been to the movies, we ended up with the theatre to ourselves, what a first time experience! Thanks team.

P.What a great old theatre! The Rialto has so much character. While there's the old art deco feel about many elements of the cinema it is modern in all the ways that matter. We had great service for our movie this afternoon. We largely had the place to ourselves which was great. Staff were friendly and helpful and everything was nice and tidy. Great experience!

T.Great cinema, with it's historical parts still visible. Great seating and cinemas are usually very tidy. Even has a seating area to enjoy a quiet drink before a showing. Parking is close at hand at the nearby parking complex. Great rates for family, and good rates for single.
Has a great range of options to purchase from the food counter, and has a friendly personal feel.
Staff I have encountered are always friendly and helpful.
Excellent place to enjoy a movie
R.A nice small historical sort of cinema which gave a different yet nice feel compared to the usual big cinemas in malls. There was a good price deal at the time I went too which was nice! Would recommend if you want to watch a movie in Dunedin.

P.Watched End Game here. Awesome theatre that doesn't reek of popcorn and the floors don't stick to your shoes due to excess fizzy drink tipped all over the carpet. If you hate the stench of popcorn, or folding up like a contortionist to fit in your seat come here. Added bonus the staff are genuinely helpful and polite. Other theatres could learn from these people.

M.Spacious cinema with a very nice waiting area. They serve wine and a good selection of goodies in their candy bar. The history of the cinema is presented in an interesting manner as you walk to the floors above. We've always enjoyed the movies here.

C.Although design is a bit dated as compared to Reading, but the cinemas here are larger in both seating capacities and screen sizes. Seats are fabric covered, and comfortable enough, and is less packed. The movie screenings are also slightly different, so one would definitely notice a slightly different audience being catered to. If you do frequent this movie house, be sure to join the Cinebuzz club as you get one free movie for every six watched.
E.Wide range of films to suit all kinds of audiences. Every 6th movie free for clubmembers. Club is easy to join and is free. Friendly and helpful staff. You can drink a glass of wine too, only very overpriced. Generally a pleasant experience and a lovely tidy, vintage venue.
M.I love Rialto, it might be my favourite place. I love the atmosphere, the carpet, the railings on the stairs, the fact that they sell the collectable cups for marvel movies, the fact that it’s cheaper than Reading to book online, i love the way it looks, it’s beautiful, the sign outside is beautiful, and the chairs are comfortable. I’d say the only downside is the ticket cost for people over 14 years old, and sometimes the popcorn’s a bit too salty. But other than that, I love Rialto more than mostly everywhere.

S.The Rialto cinema is a wonderful place to visit for a wonderful movie experience. Some of the old theatre is preserved upstairs for nostalgia. Along with ice an and popcorn, coffee and wine are also served. It is also one of the venues for the NZ International Film Festival. Good facilities. Lifts to theatres and specialised seating for disabled.

M.I first attended this theatre 25 years ago, on my first trip to Dunedin. Since then it has undergone a massive reno. It now has 5 smaller theatres. There are the usual tickets and ice cream, but you can also get a glass of wine to take with you into the theater. I think they also do fresh coffee. The bigger theatres handle the blockbusters but the smaller theatres present other, more boutique spaces where demand is smaller.
When they completed the reno they left some of the massive steel girders bare to show off the type of framed construction from the past. We're talking some serious steel. 1 metre high I beams with hot bashed rivets. So it's not just a place of entertainment, it's a piece of the past ready to view today you don't even have to buy a ticket to see the steel beams in the stairs heading to theatre 3. Another great piece of Dunedin history. I'd love to know the history of those big chunks of steel. Must have been amazing to watch those being rolled or cast from scratch. This place does private functions/ films, too. A local real estate broker puts on a bash there once a year.
S.I like the heritage element to this place. Last night I went to see a film festival movie in a little theatre up the back I didnt even know existed. It was cosy and amazing. The staff are always friendly and the seats are way more comfortable than the other cinema option in Dunedin
L.Apart from great coffee and comfortable seats they have good discounts for Seniors and a coupon card. After six movies you get one free.

a.Not much options (just 2 in fact) if you want to go for latest movies in Dunedin. The theater isn't that big/great. Screen, sound system and seats are just ok. Rialto cinema is also cheaper than the other theater (i.e Reading cinemas). If you have Master card, then Wednesday is definitely a great choice for you, as an adult ticket + small popcorn + small drink will cost you just 11$.

N.Reasonably comfortable but not great. Big screen (cinema 3) is big. Cinema 6 screen is tiny though, may as well watch on Bluray at home. The others average.

A.not as pack as Reading cinema.. i loovveee the layout, super simple and very spacious.. i went to watch Mamma Mia 2 last night at cinema 2, it was a bit smaller than cinema 3 which is upstairs but still enough personal space
K.Watched a movies in cinema 5..way upstairs. Very tiny cinema perhaps 60 seats. Video projection was way down on brightness. Sound was ok.seats ok.

W.I would highly recommend Rialto Cinemas Dunedin to anyone. It is fast becoming one my favourite places to visit in the city and is an amazing place! Outstanding service, very friendly and helpful staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome, a beautifully presented premise and an all around wonderful movie experience. Absolutely excellent and first class. I've been to Rialto Cinemas Dunedin several times and each visit is even better than the last. I always miss the place terribly when I go home to Nelson to visit friends and family. If only they had one up there! 5/5, outstanding!
