T.If you are only going to the movies once, go to this one in Geraldine, awesome! So much more of an experience than sitting at home watching TV.
K.What a fabulous school holiday activity for families! Lovely comfy sofas to sit on, blankets to snuggle under, loads of yummy snacks on hand, you choose where you sit and the ticket prices were so reasonable. What more could you ask for? We highly recommend this old-school cinematic experience.
M.Love the big comfy armchairs and couches downstairs. Knee rugs available as well. I also enjoy not having the huge volume of noise blasting my ears in more modern cinemas. Great films on offer as well.

P.Old charm cinema it's been showing movies since 1925 and it has upstairs viewing as well. It only costs $12 for adults and $8 for children snacks and drinks are available. Only cash or eftpos no credit cards. You have standard seating as well as comfortable sofa's to relax on it's your choice. Check their website for movie times buts it's worth a visit. Dress warm as it's a big old building but still worth it.

J.I finally managed to see a film. Yay. Geraldine is a favourite get away from Christchurch. I have always wanted to go and see a movie. But alas nothing has tickled my fancy or Ive been there on days it is closed. This time I went. Held inside an old stage theatre. Steps up the front door. No eftpos - cash only. Good price. As it is an old theatre it has an up and downstairs seating. Couches and various chairs in both parts although upstairs has typical seating rows. There is nothing modern about this theatre just its overall charm. The movie I saw held up good. The sound quality was good and the picture quality form upstairs again was good. Lots of movie memorabilia on the walls. I had a great time. Cant wait to get back to Geraldine and to this cinema again. No issues with parking. They have a website. Nibbles available at much cheaper prices than branded cinemas.

T.Very nice cinema with a special character. Some of the couches are not the most comfy one and the sound was slightly too loud in the high frequency range.

r.I went to watch peter rabbit and the stuff was so kind and the layout of the theater was very interesting with the sofers I really injoyed my time there and will decently tell my friens to go

Too bad that the over 80-year-old film projectionist died several years ago, he had such a warm, enthusiastic and loving way to rave about the cinema technology from the late 1920s ...
Even though there is no longer a break in the movie presentation, the visit to the cinema is definitely recommended and a must!

Geraldine cinema: Ein Ort, an dem man nach anstrengenden Wanderungen, vielen gefahrenen Kilometern und der Menge an Neuseeland-Eindrücken herrlich entspannen kann!
In plüschigem Ambiente (Man macht es sich auf gemütlichen Sofas bequem.) kann man aktuelle, aber auch historische movies schauen. Schade nur, dass der über 80-jährige alte Filmvorführer vor mehreren Jahren verstorben ist, er hatte eine so herzliche, begeisterte und liebevolle Art, über die Kinotechnik aus den späten 1920-er Jahren zu schwärmen ...
Auch wenn es mittlerweile keine Pause in der Filmvorstellung mehr gibt, der Besuch des Kinos ist unbedingt zu empfehlen und ein Muss!
