Beautiful, hiked here over the summer holidays. Ended up hiking 108kms and came home very tired, sore and sun burnt however filled with a lots of new memories! If you are up for a great hiking adventure head to the west coast area as there is so much to hike and explore 🤩

Nice scenery, not just the pancake rock formations but nice vegetation around as well. Truman trail for me was the highlight. This remote beach accessible through a 15min rainforest hike is so beautiful. You get a nice view of the coastline from this vantage point.

An absolutely spectacularly spot to stop during our road trip holiday in the South Island. My wife and I stopped for Fish and chips in Hokitika. While we were eating lunch my read how beautiful Paparoa was so we decided to make it a stop on the way to Nelson. The National park is breath taking. We could have stayed all day just taking in the beautiful views and salty air.

The punakaiki end of the paparoa hiking track is very accessible and easy to walk. Following a beautiful river valley, a 3 to 5km walk will take you through some excellent examples of Westcoast nikau groves and beautiful ferns. The Paparoa track is the 10th great walk created and maintained by New Zealands department of conservation.

The place had an amazing view I had a great swim I was unlucky enough to be there on a day were the waves were a bit harsh but I still swam any way it was very relaxing and calm to just sit there and listen to the wind and its a great place to get exercise to!

Worth a visit to see the pancake rocks. There's a short walk through a rainforesty area to get to the coast, which is nice. We didn't really see the blowholes doing their thing because the tide was heading out, but it would be an impressive sight.

So much more to do than your first expect. Make sure your fully fueled up and have food with you, it's expensive and you're between Westport and Greymouth.

Great short walks to the Porarai River and pancake rocks. Nice rivers to swim in and some longer day tracks through the inland pack track and up the Porarai river. You can also go kayaking

Nice place to visit and see the beautiful meetings between ocean waves and the rocks! The bonus is we can enjoy seeing Nikau palms in its natural habitat!

Just caught a glimpse; I will definitely return to explore it more in detail. The I-Site is in Punakaiki. Moving to Christchurch soon, will be able to reach via Arthur Pass. From Picton it is a long drive, not too mention that the road is winding and tiring.

Definately a must do if you are visiting west coast. About an hour's drive from greymouth. The pancake rocks are so beautiful and the whole area is just mesmerizing. A few shops and restaurants are there too, if you feeling hungry.

(Translated) A great national park with beautiful scenery and a very relaxing place. There are some cafes, souvenir shops, craft shops, restaurants, backpackers’ inns and camping grounds around. Unfortunately, the plane just got off the first day and it was almost late in the afternoon It’s a little drizzle here, and the time is a little unconstructed. I only took a walk. The natural wonders of Punakaki. Located on one of the coastal roads between Greymouth and Westport, you can see beautiful beaches and Coastline~ You can plan a full-day walk or a short walk. We took a short one-hour walk around the Punakaiki Trail and saw the most famous melaleuca and spoutholes. The melaleuca is a limestone formation, which was 3 billion years old. The marine life is very rich and deposited under the seabed, and then formed by the soft soil layer. It is seen today. Walking on this trail is very beautiful and full of green plants. The only highway on the west bank is No. 6~ (Original) 很棒的一個國家公園，風景很美，很放鬆的一個地方，周圍有一些咖啡廳，紀念品店，工藝品店，飯店，背包客棧和露營地，可惜第一天剛下飛機，下午快傍晚了才到這裡有點點飄毛毛雨，時間有點不構，只走了一圈步道，普納卡基的自然奇觀，位於格雷茅斯和西港之間的海岸公路之一，一路上可以看到美美的沙灘和海岸線~可以規劃全日走或短散步，我們是短短散步一小時，環普納凱基步道，看了最出名的千層岩和噴水洞，千層岩石是石灰岩地層，有30億年，當時海洋生物很豐富沉積在海底下，然後通過鬆軟的泥土層所覆蓋所形成今天看到的這樣，走在這步道上望過去很漂亮都佈滿了綠色的植物，西岸唯一的一個6號公路~

(Translated) The Paparoa National Park and the Pancake Rocks The Pancake Rocks are a rock formation in Paparoa National Park only about 60 kilometers south of Westport and so we don't need an hour from Cape Foulwind to the Paparoa National Park information center. The entrance area to the Pancake Rocks is directly opposite. On my last visit 25 years ago, everything looked different, there was no information center and no wonderfully developed circular hiking trail through these pancakes stacked on top of each other. Yes, this is how they really look and they are worth seeing then as now. Especially at high tide and high waves, then the surf breaks on the numerous rock noses, in caves and washouts and pushes back flowing water and flowing air through narrow holes and tubes in the rock. Above the rocks you can see this as blowholes and through strong hissing it is even audible. (Original) Der Paparoa Nationalpark und die Pancake Rocks Die Pancake Rocks sind eine Felsformation im Paparoa-Nationalpark nur etwa 60 Kilometer südlich von Westport und so brauchen wir keine Stunde von Cape Foulwind bis zum Informationszentrum des Paparoa National Park. Direkt gegenüber befindet sich der Eingangsbereich zu den Pancake Rocks. Bei meinem letzten Besuch vor 25 Jahren sah das alles anders aus, es gab kein Infocenter und keinen wunderbar ausgebauten Rundwanderweg durch diese übereinander geschichteten Pfannkuchen. Ja so sehen sie wirklich aus und sie sind sehenswert damals wie heute. Vor allem bei Flut und hohem Wellengang, dann bricht sich die Brandung an den zahlreichen Felsnasen, in Höhlen und Ausspülungen und drückt zurückfließendes Wasser und durchströmende Luft durch enge Löcher und Röhren im Felsen. Oberhalb der Felsen sieht man das als Blowholes und durch starkes Zischen wird es sogar hörbar.
