Just the most wonderful little walk to do with kids. They will love it. Also one of the few places in NZ to spot blue mushrooms..we looked and couldn't find any...maybe you will have better luck;)
K.
Best short track ive done yet! Very easy to do. Loved the history and the tunnels as well. Take a torch to enjoy the tunnel, phone light will do ok as well.
B.
One of the best walks in the area. Gravel road but it’s nice and maintained. Walk is about 45min, take a torch as there are a couple of tunnels you can walk down, others are blocked off. Amazing history and there is even a swing bridge!
A.
A little off the beaten track, but worth the effort.
Be very careful if you are visiting in a hire car, as the track leading to the car park is made up of really large stones, gravel and is very uneven!
Once there, the trail is easy to follow and takes you through some amazing forest scenery. Take a torch, be prepared for steps and a rope bridge!
We really enjoyed it and had the forest all to ourselves that afternoon.

This is a great walking track. It's uphill some of the way but the stairs and ha rails are well maintained. I'm not very got but I had no problem with it. So much to see and do. Recommend taking a flash light or even better a head torch. The wee caves are exciting and tunnels. Highly recommend getting the family together and go explore. Track takes about 45 .minutes to walk but allow extra time to explore.

Cool gold mining area and it's free to explore! You can see some amazing green moss walkways and a maze of tunnels to explore so don't forget your flashlights. It's around 30 min roundtrip walk including exploring some bits of the tunnels, but we're fast walkers.

Take a decent torch and explore some old mine shafts. Track is in great condition with a fair amount of stairs. What ever you do don't keep driving to continue to Christchurch as Google maps led me to a dead end after 40 mins of driving on rough roads
J.
Amazing moss and regenerating forest. You must take a torch to enter the old mine tunnels, there are even a few glow worms. To access this track you must travel through an active mine site (large gravel/stones to drive across!)
K.
Great walk. So pretty and loved listening to the birds. A little wet under foot.
D.
Beautiful walk...definitely brave the narrow tunnel and go into mine...its so worth it
H.
Fantastic walk. Definitely worth the drive to get there.
G.
Great reminder of how hard people had to work for a crust in days gone by. Brilliant signage explaining how gold was mined.
M.
Tunnels, suspension bridges, chasms, pristine bush. This track has everything imaginable in an easy 45 minute stroll.
J.
Amazingly interesting short track. Old mining tunnels and water races among beautiful forest. Well worth the detour to get there
C.
A great example of historic gold mining on the West Coast with old water races, tunnels and a swing bridge. A moderate level of fitness is needed as there are a few stairs to climb and descend. A torch is a must if you want to explore the tunnel (very cool for the kids as the feel like a dwarven cave).
K.
Fantastic track would highly recommend. Beautiful and lots to explore..highlights are the caves and tunnels and suspension bridge.enjoyed by the whole family!
S.
Well worth seeing after the road from hell to get their. Recommend using a vehical with a high ground clearance, as the road is unsealed and rough. But the walk is stunningly beautiful. Take good walking shoes.
A.
Awesome track really worth it heaps of caves too explore and old mine shafts dnt venture too far into the caves unless you don't mind huge spiders😵 , came face to face with one must of been a little smaller than my hand !!
R.
Great walk, fascinating mining remains and fund bridges and tunnels
Z.
Great walk. Amazing insight into mining activities, amongst natural bush. Bring a torch, or something similar to explore. 🤓
j.
Off the beaten track so not many people. However lots of birdsong. Spotted a few wood pigeon. Beautiful bush, nice well maintained track with swing bridge and tunnel.
A.
Amazing walking track through the old gold diggings. Very well made track. Take a torch or make sure the torch function works on you phone...
s.
Great short walk, wouldn't recommend coming in from the Arnold Valley Road side unless you have a good 4X4, a shovel, chainsaw and nerves of steel!
R.
Brilliant short walk in the bush with swing bridge and old mines to explore. Worth the effort up the gravel track
T.
Nice walk. Does need to have some toilets at the entrance

(Translated) Great thing! We were the only visitors and the path wakes the child in one.
When we got there we were happy to have an SUV, the road is very rough on the last few meters.

Super Sache! Wir waren die einzigen Besucher und der Weg weckt das Kind in einem.
Bei der Anfahrt waren wir froh ein SUV zu haben, die Straße ist doch sehr uneben auf die letzten Meter.
S.
(Translated) AMAZING! It is very worth going, it is a beautiful road that takes you to an old gold mine. Highly recommended, unique experience.

(Translated) Whatever you do, NEVER ride !!! To the right when you leave the parking lot towards civilization. Take the long way to Lake Brunner! The track, however, was really good!
(Original)
Was auch immer ihr tut, Fahrt NIEMALS!!! Nach rechts wenn ihr den Parkplatz Richtung Zivilisation verlasst. Nehmt den langen Weg zum Lake Brunner! Der Track hingegen war richtig gut!
D.
(Translated) Very great, especially for children. Approx. 40 min round course. And yes, they never drive right out of the parking lot.
(Original)
Sehr toll, vorallem für Kinder. Ca 40 Min Ru dkurs. Und ja fahren sie vom Parkplatz aus nie rechts rum raus.
