Reviews of Harker Reserve (Vivian Falls)
K.
Very short walk to the waterfall. We were expecting a hike. Beautiful spot. Kind of hard to trek around the area so we didn't stay long. Nice view but not much else as far as exploring with kids.
M.
Great little walk to get here if you start at the other end. 1hr 30 back to the beginning, has an inbuilt loop as well. Good for all ages. If you want to just go to the waterfall, there’s a car park that takes you there if you keep driving along the same road. I’d recommend the walk which places the waterfall at the middle of your walk. If you can, it makes for a good run too.
T.
A great location, short drive from the main road, the last ~1 km is gravel road. From the car park the falls are a 10 min walk downhill. The cliffs under the falls are covered in slime/moss - be careful. Would go again for a short shower 🚿 as it was amazing on a hot summer day.
R.
Only little walk to the waterfall. Historic place of Maori tribe
H.
Beautiful reserve with a well marked trail. Dirt and gravel path which is wide and suitable for a mountain buggy style pram in most places except the small loop track. This is steep, narrow, and lovely! Don't forget to walk to Victoria Falls while you're hear. Access to reserve from both ends of the walk.
F.
Harker Reserve we did the 4.87km return walk to the beautiful 12m high Te Wai Heke O Maoa (Vivian) Falls
Easy walk, dogs allowed highly recommend.
C.
Great waterfall. Make sure you take some decent footwear . No real place to swim however you could get under the waterfall Track isn't as good as expected but still a good walk
L.
When coming to the end of Miller rd the last 800m of road is gravel then you'll reach 2 signs at a gate saying no vehicles past this point thats where parking area is(very small). Then it's a very easy 30 second walk to a gate on the left, then from there another 30 or so seconds to waterfall. There is a track to go down to waterfalls base but be careful when wet as its slippery

A tall waterfall pouring water down the lush green bush. As it’s summer time water is short but I guess the Fall will look majestic after rain or in winter. The car park is very small prolly only allows 5 cars parked on both sides of the gravel road. The road is perhaps less than 5 kms. It’s also a very short walk from the car park.
A.
Fantastic spot to chill out in summer... feels like you're at a location for a movie shoot. A picturesque 12 metre waterfall to enjoy safely by sitting on the rocks under. We did the 1.5 hour bush walk in Harker Reserve - so the waterfall was the perfect cool off. Kiwi summerness ahh 👌 Added bonus: It is a pooch-friendly spot. Dogs welcome. ‼️
N.
Bits of slopes, awesome walk in bush. Under 2 hours for return trip.
M.
Good plan for a quick escape, it was a great surprise to find this place! If you feel like having a nice couple of hours in the nature, this is a good option.
Small reserve, quite place and easy walk can be done with kids. It can take around 45minutes, it depends how long you stop.
Waterfalls are beautiful! not suitable to have a swim but you can get really close to the water if you want. Be careful, some of the stones are quite slippery.... Enjoy!.
S.
Dainty little waterfall in Waikato region
E.
Beautiful reserve - 40 minute walking track if you park at the Punt Hill entrance, only a few minutes walk if you go to the main entrance. It’s a lovely walk through native bush and farm land and the falls are definitely worth it.
d.
Small waterfall, looks better in photos.
P.
A nice place for a wonder. There is 2 entrances to this reserve. One is just after the Tuakau bridge, and the other is closer to Onewhero. Most of the track is a farm track, except for the 50 meter track to the falls. You can also walk the loop track which is sign posted from the main track. About 1 hour return if you do the whole track. The water fall is right at the Onewhero end of the track.
B.
One of our favourite walks. There's beautiful native bush blocks you walk through, to open hilly farmland and views to the Waikato River.
Vivian falls is well worth the approx 35 to 40 min walk, one way, if you begin on the northern end. It has a stunning approx 12 metre drop to the rocks below.
The falls themselves can be driven to by driving to Onewhero and finally taking a dirt road, legally through a farm, to get there.
M.
One of the wonderful experience of mine at this waterfall, access is little bit complicated I would recommend to use google map on mobile phone. There is one road which not well but other is good so please select the right road to go, both roads are safe however you will not like less your car tyres life. Once you are at the Harker Reserve please park your car at parking area as further driving is restricted so please read the road once your Google map indicates that you reached the location.
C.
Well worth the drive
Two ways to access the waterfalls
No facilities
A quick left at the Tuakau bridge and then a right and park up and enjoy the scenic walk aprox5-6km return or following GPS directions to the loop road and park adjacent to the waterfall
No facilities so take all rubbish home with you
C.
It’s a nice short walk to a clean no rubbish area. Hope it will stay that way.
The water fall was nice and cold to sit under, it’s a bit slippery on the climb up to the water fall.
Have read of the history of the area on the big sign on the way down the track.
D.
Nice place to unwind especially for the nature lover, 2 kilometer hike from the parking lot to the falls but limited parking.
L.
A lovely quiet walking track, where dogs are welcome, but on a lead. There are two entrances, the main one being on Onewhero-Tuakau Bridge Road, just around the corner from Tuakau Bridge and the Port Waikato turn off (1km), and the other at Miller Road, to the south. The Miller Road entrance is the one closest to the waterfall, but the other entrance has off-road gravel parking. Well both do, have off-road parking, but the northern entrance appears to be more suitable for this. It's a 3km track that's supposed to take about 40 minutes to walk each way. The terrain is fairly easy, but tends to be muddy when wet, and slippery due to the slope. So it's wise to be prepared with adequate footwear.
C.
2 minutes from carpark. Great backdrop for something like a family picture. However no proper pathway down - just rocks so be careful.
s.
Nice little walk in nature. Pity about the state of sign in Māori covered in moss where as English was clean and tidy
A.
Simply beautiful.
A must see waterfalls if you're in the neighborhood.
A very small walk to the falls, but have to drive a few meters of gravel road.
A.
It is a breatiful fall
R.
Drive to the top end and it's only a five minute walk. Worth seeing if you're passing by
L.
Beautiful spot. A bit tricky to get to the water but well worth the walk. Awesome that its dog friendly and was impressed with how clean it was, I only picked up 1 plastic bottle 👍
F.
Easy walk, beautiful surrounding just around the corner from Pukekohe.
A.
Nice walk up and down hills takes around 75mins
M.
Beautiful native bush wi5h very lovely areas to rest great to take your kids push chair friendly. Loved looking down into the bush in certain areas a Fantastic waterfall. One of the best walks I've been on. Close and within range accessible .

N.
Amazing spot! Short 5 min walk. Bit slippery so be cautious.
B.
Cool waterfall to visit and take the dogs (rules are on lead). The rocks down to the waterfall base are a bit sketchy so either have an agile dog that won't mind or be able to carry them. There's not much of an area to swim but if you walk down a bit from the waterfall there are a couple of shallow pools the dogs can swim in. There is two entrances, the first one has a bit of a walk (take sunscreen as it is exposed to the sun), or a second entrance is off Miller road and is located right before the waterfall. Is a good place to go to tick off the list if you don't have the time or motivation to explore much that day.
M.
It's a wonderful little walk to the waterfall. Any age group can walk it 😁. I'd recommend it to everyone. A little gem that is well worth the effort ❣🚶♀️🏃♀️👏😁.
R.
Its great and can be scary after heavy rain.
The waterfall is quite smelly in general so try to hold your breath
S.
Fairly tall waterfall off the beaten track. If you're only wanting a photo, I highly suggest the Google maps route that comes from the Onewhero side as it is only a 2-3 minute walk from the car park. In comparison, the walking route starts on the side closer to the Waikato River. There is a sign for waterfall on the bushy side of the gravel road.
D.
Lovely small waterfall that is easy to get to
D.
It's a bit tricky to reach the waterfall but the beauty of this place worthy the whole trip
A.
Great hidden treasure. Can either Park and walk the approx 2.5km each way walk which is a very clear wide track. Or drive and park near the top and walk the short distance to find the falls. A little nook of serenity.
B.
Really cool little waterfall, though the water isnt really swimming quality. Relatively easy access down a short path and some rocks laid out like stairs.
D.
There are 2 entrances to this fall, the first and most obvious entry is a 1.5 hours hike return which if you're not prepared on a hot summer day, you may opt to go for the second entry however the road is very remote and only some of the GPS system can find the road called Miller road, which you'll have to drive all the way in to the very end which you'll see a sign saying no vehicle entry, you can park right outside the gate and walk 5 minutes into the fall. Beware that going down the fall is very challenging and steep as there is no actual stairs, only rocks foaming the dangerously steep stairs. Because of how the stream is formed, a large area is a dead zone which all the dirty water are trapped and unable to leave, you may not want to opt for a swim.
B.
A favorite walk of mine - a huge credit to local enthusiasts whose discrete maintenance adds to the experience. A great cross section of New Zealand natives. Yesterday (mid February) was a great experience - the smells of the flora, the bird song and the cacophony of insects creating their own symphony. And the crunch of freshly laid gravel chip underfoot. All accessible to persons of average fitness. Awesome - I am a recidivist user.
L.
A good "hot day ' walk lots of the paths are shaded
Waterfall viewing area perfect for a lunch stop
P.
Absolute gold. Great find, takes a bit to get to put beautiful waterfall and scenery.
I.
I been there twice and for sure I'll go back there again. I really enjoyed the walk and the scenery.
J.
Lovely waterfall and a quick and easy walk to it! Not friendly for the under fives however as it can be quite slippery on the rocks! Would definitely recommend it ☺️
P.
Beautiful Tairere forest and a gentle 45 minute walk each way to a surprisingly large waterfall. Plenty for a dog to sniff, and humans as well. Sad that Tradiscantia, Wandering Willie has spread throughout this piece of Bush.
S.
It's a beautiful falls though low water levels this time of the year
m.
Very nice short bush walk, have to watch the signs to see where the fall is! Easy terrain and well maintained track!
D.
Really nice walk, amazing scenery, easy to find, recomend to all... only thing is map n trail marks need to be redone, apart from that had a great time out
S.
It’s a very beautiful waterfall and nice walk 👍
C.
If you park at Harker its a 45 mins walk to the falls but you can park outside the falls instead. The falls are great
T.
Beautiful scenery and well maintained walking track. Perfect walk for beginners and families with young children
A.
Beautiful waterfalls here at the end of a short track. Steep stairs down not suitable for pram or wheelchair though.
R.
Great walk, very long, bit long for little children, take the loop shortcut instead
B.
Very short walk to a lovely falls. Worth the stop. 👍
L.
Great little walk to Vivian Falls, not difficult, takes about 25 minutes to walk to the falls from Harker Reserve carpark
A.
Short walk from carpark, falls are nice to look at, nowhere comfortable to sit and relax, very little room.

Beautiful waterfall but rocky though, not quite suitable for kids.
