C.Loved the awesome walking trail with a touch of history. I've been to hundreds of walking trails across NZ and must say this one's totally different, you get to walk right beside a flowing river and experience a different kind of beauty. Walking through the 1km long tunnel was quite thrilling - must do.
N.The tunnel is some 400meters long. We were lucky as there was no cyclist in the tunnel. It took us 10minutes to walk through the tunnel. Was a bit scary when no one is there.
When you are in the middle of the tunnel, both the entrance looks so tiny. The tunnel is really long.
K.Great place, good spots to swim
M.Give yourself a bit of time so you can explore. We did a quick stop and could have stayed for a few hours with the walks and a swim. After years of driving past it, we finally stopped and it was well worth it.
E.Be prepared to walk a lot, although it's an easy stroll. Wear comfortable clothes and bring along some water. Need to be alert as lots of ppl on bicycles around.
H.Easy & beautiful walk. The tunnel gets pretty cold!
S.Must visit. Worth visiting from Auckland. Many photography opportunities with serene views and a beautiful hike.
