A hidden treasure full of amazing tunnels, swing bridges, bush track that leads to mountainous windows overlooking the amazing river below...a must do!
J.
Parts of the walkway are closed, view is stunning and great place for kids and family
S.
Do you love the great Outdoors,Tunnels and Nature? This is a Wonderful walk with heaps of Amazing scenery and Historic sites and of course,Tunnels! This is a very popular track and definitely worth a visit!
W.
Such an awesome experience! We bought some head lamps and torches for the kids at Kmart prior to going and it was such a good idea, as you will be going through some dark tunnels throughout the walk. This is also a Toyota Kiwi Guardian site. Limited parking but there is an overflow car park further down the road.
R.
This was a really good walk. We went on the rail tunnel loop. It was a easy trail and it had great views. There’s lots of places for great photos. One of the highlights was that there was a long tunnel. I think that is was about 1km. It was the first time I have seen such a long tunnel and it was really cool. There is also a river here which you can swim in. I can’t wait to come again and I would highly suggest to visit here.
B.
Fantastic walk. Great length for children, our 2.5 year old handled the whole walk fine. If you have a torch I would recommend taking it or just use the torch on your phone. Get there early for parking
J.
Excellent walk with loads of options to stop and explore. Places along the way to have a swim and caves to look around. Bring a head torch to really enjoy the tunnels
A.
Great views, easy tramp through the designated paths across to the flats on the other side of the gorge, impressive views down into the Waitewheta River. Torch necessary.
S.
Interesting place. Suitable for kids and adults. Very beautiful. You can bring your swimsuits here.
C.
This walk is worth it, (do take a torch or know how to turn on your cell phone light) Tunnels, windows out over the gorge, swing bridges and much more.
S.
When we visited, one half was closed, still a great walk. Beautiful scenery, wonderful tunnel exploring, and history to learn.
F.
Such a beautiful place. I have lost myself in this place. This is absolutely the most beautiful place I have seen, and it has all the tranquility that you can enjoy.
A.

a torch

I can't believe that I have walked the river and train tunnel 5-6 times and never come over to the "Windows" walk before.
It was fantastic, use the light on your phone if you want to walk into the side tunnels and then decide how far you walk before you think, this is getting a long way away from where I started. The Windows section and the walk ways along the riverside are just beautiful, if you are down there, don't ignore this walk like I have for years, your missing something beautiful
P.
Beautiful walk, not too long 👍
V.
A scenic walk through a nostalgic gold mine that blends with the natural beauty of the Zew Zealand. I wish I could have time to cover all the trails there

Don't forget a torch and walking shoes.
If you have a camera you will be able to take some gorgeous photos a great day out for all to have take your time going thru the tunnels if you don't like small spaces
G.
The most incredible and enjoyable walk through old gold mining tunnels along the river. A great family adventure for all to enjoy. Absolutely picturesque and very interesting. Don't miss this one when travelling through the area!
J.
This place is a MUST visit if you are nearby, bring a torch or head lamp. The Karangahake Window Walk is a easy relaxing and yet eye opening 1 hour walk, there's some stairs, but not too much. The Karangahake Gorge is so beautiful to miss. Ample parking space available, has toilet facility at the parking.
T.
A great walk along the river with wonderful views. In the tunnels you can spot gloworms. On the way there a several spots werde you can go swimming. Don't forget a torch, is dark in the tunnels and the last tunnel is wet with puddels.
R.
A free and beautiful walk. The “windows walk” is an hour long, but longer walks are available. There are steps but these are well placed and at end of the walk. Very picturesque.
S.
Beautiful! Peaceful and breath taking area. Perfect place for a 10min stoll or a 4 hour walk. Provides walks for all fitness levels. This area is dog friendly, and cycle friendly (for most parts).
P.
A great walk to take with good views and ok for most fitness levels a few step parts but the steps are good.
M.
The windows walk is lovely, but that's not where we went today, we did the short 5 minute walk to Old Rotokohu Road that follows a small stream.
M.
Great wee walk (remembered to take a torch this time), followed by a refreshing dip in the river right by the western end of the carpark. Why haven't we come here more often?!
J.
An amazing walk with lots to see and learn. Seems very underrated. We loved it.
D.
A short walk through gold mining tunnels and rail tracks that is close to the main carpark. Not suitable for cyclists.

(Translated) Very nice circular route for which you need about 1 hour. You can also take children with you. It is not exhausting and there is a lot to see about mining. Everything very nicely signposted. The most interesting for children is the 500m long tunnel. The gorge is also very beautiful.

D.
(Translated) Super informative about how gold and silver were won in the past. You don't see much anymore, but still a great experience. You must also walk the exciting circular route through the mine tunnel. There are great things to do here. In any case, bring a pocket lamp. The LED of my cell phone was enough for me.

M.
(Translated) very nice circular route. Interesting

sehr schoner rundweg. interessant
G.
(Translated) Although this one is not as good as it is yearning for, it is also different from most New Zealand trails, which has a one-kilometer-long tunnel. Canyon landforms.
(Original)
这个不到虽然没有向往中的好,但也不同于大多数新西兰的步道,有一个一公里长的隧道。峡谷地貌。
