Nice and peaceful walk , couple of seats for a break . Bridge over a stream with ducks .

Otepuni Gardens is a pleasant area to walk around. The Otepuni Stream runs through the park which is populated by ducks. The pic shows the Puni (abbreviated spelling) a day after a snowfall and melting, raising the level of the stream.

Park with trees, cute walk

This place is a wonderful garden to walk through in the summertime. A winding concrete path follows the river that runs through the center. At various points, there are bridges which you can cross and take in the magnificent view. Trees are good for shade and having picnics under. These are the things that make Otepuni Gardens the best place to relax and contemplate life. Amazing place, and a great, silent atmosphere. 5/5 stars.

Sat on the grass beside the stream, had a bite to eat and relaxed. The seagulls are a pain and spoilt it. Lovely settling and close to town/sit.

Love it the most during spring when there's a lot of bright coloured flowers around and just a great place to take the dog for a walk.

It was a awesum time with my friend and walks around gardens saw all the animals had a great time with dogs take a minute and enjoy the animals and playground 4 the kids

The Otepuni Gardens were set aside as public reserves by JT Thomson and was originally the main Park prior to Queens Park. Although Queens Park now receives much of the focus, Otepuni Gardens is still well worth a visit. The flood protection works, erected adjacent to the street after the devastating 1984 floods, provide some protection from the elements and enclosure to the gardens. Take the opportunity to walk along both the flood banks as well as the path for alternative views. The Otepuni Creek runs through the area and unfortunately is subject to the usual dumping of items from the bridges. Don't let this deter you. The gardens includes a small band rotunda and a fine example of turn of the century formal gardens. The last band I saw using the Band rotunda how ever was in the 1980s. (Pretty Wicked Head & the Desperate Men). I am sure Mr JT Thomson would have wondered what hit him that day. I would love to see it back in use again.

Invercargill is a good place for sight seeing. This is a peaceful city, however there are a limited entertainment services. You might also want to check the aurora forecast because Invercargill is one of the best place to view the aurora at night.
