I. L.This has to be the coolest basketball court in NZ, found in the charming little township of Kaikohe, about 40 minute drive from Paihia, Northland.
Designed by Taitamariki, based on traditional Maori mythology.
M. W.Playground, picnic spots, limited tables, big trees and a massive skatepark with a fully tarsealed court to the edge. Modest gardens.
Easy to find one street South of the West end of CBD with plenty of roadside parking and substantial off-street parking available within 100m at local supermarkets, McDonald's and other retailers. Public toilets about 300m away adjacent to the Kaikohe public library.
This site is enjoyed by visitors, tourists and locals all year round. Mostly pretty clean and tidy facilities. Grounds well maintained and cared-for (albeit a bit tired).
