Reviews of Dry Creek Entrance, Belmont Regional Park
C.
Amazing place to camp... Silent and lots of space to park your car, camper van etc etc... Cheap as well $8 for adults and you gotta pay in cash(no EFTPOS or internet Banking) in the envelope provided and deposit it in the honesty box. And there is a waterfall right behind the campgrounds.
M.
What a lovely spot to picnic, or go for a walk or camp. Toilets and drinking water on-site, please take your rubbish away. There are plenty of spots to stay. Quiet beautiful views. Camping is $8 per adult $4 per child, cash only, no EFTPOS or internet banking. Iron Maiden in 2 sites.
Gates are closed at night in winter at 6 pm, summer at 10 pm, you're allowed to stay 40 days in 12 month period only, run by the regional council.
M.
Great track. Best with waterproof boots as you cross the creek multiple times and the rocks can get slippery. Cool little waterfall at the end of the track - worthy of a dip on a hot day.
C.
The area is nice enough with some decent short walks and close proximity to shops etc as well. There's a handful of people who appear to be living here full time in buses and caravans which leads to a bit of a shanty-town vibe. Quite a lot of road noise audible at night, but the gates are locked after 10pm so you don't get people driving around you when you're sleeping which is nice.
G.
Visited here few days ago...beautiful quiet area and nice trekking for water fall. The toilet was big and clean..and just 23min to Wellington city....also...Even I asked a lot about address and details through messages, the ranger answered very kindly and quickly even he was away...Thank you😊
M.
The waterfall path is really good. It follows a creek that you will have to pass several times. It is really recommend to wear good footwear since most of the path is mostly going over the creek on small self-made bridges made of rocks or going improvised paths along the creek. But the way is definitely worth it since you will get some nice photographs. The campsite is also quite good. It provides everything you need besides a shower. There are also other hikign trails starting at this point but be careful since most of these trails start very steep. I've walked parts of the red and black trail starting from the dry creek entrance but sadly the view wasn't very good. Despite that is was a good exercise.
F.
Affordable and quiet place to stay overnight. Cash only and rangers do come every night to check so don’t risk it! No showers or kitchen and washing up facilities is literally just a cold running tap. Two unisex bathrooms.
D.
Wet foot track was amazing. Bring shoes for walking through Creek. Kids need to be able to cross some creeks so wouldn't bring kids under 5.
L.
A fantastic walk!
I would recomend walking up the steep track, as I would not dear to walk down it!
There iant much signage - follow the orange arrows.
R.
The walk up to the waterfall is a great walk. Challenging to keep the sneakers dry. Heaps of good walks and bike rides in the park. Camping spots at this entrance seem good
S.
Very easy walk on the wet foot track. A very easy and gradual gradient which is almost unnoticeable to a really pretty waterfall and small pool at the end and it's only 1.5 km from the car park. Depending on rain fall the river can get a little deeper but if it hasn't rained in a few days you can do it keeping your feet dry despite the name. Then again...its always more fun to walk in the stream.
S.
Non powered camp sites. Nice Clean toilet!! Great choice of hikes thru the hills
W.
8 dollars a night, fairly unknown so usually available. Lots of space and great toilets and free drinking water. Unmanned site most of the time so you pay by leaving money in an envelope.
S.
Wonderful walk to the waterfall. Remember to bring a change of shoes
Y.
good walk for kids and family. get extra pair of shoes in case you get wet during water crossing, you have to cross water15 times so expect to get wet :) also, During crossing I lost my favorite sun glass I have no idea where but it definitely during crossin, I miss my sunglass. nice picnic spot and good camping area . thinking to go for camping next time.
D.
Absolutely must! If you’re heading anywhere near to wellington you need to head east for a night and check out this place!!!
D.
Very nice no cost family outing. The track to the waterfall is about an hours rock-hoping and not well suited to older persons or people that have trouble rock-hopping up the stream.
V.
Great walk for me young fella and cousin, not to hard and well worth the effort for the view's :)
P.
We camped here one night. There is not staff but you can pay through a manual system provided and only with cash. The toilets were clean and in the morning they were visited by a cleaning staff. It was calm and beautiful. Not many other campers so we enjoyed our stay very much. It was very close to the city maybe 20 min drive or so
F.
Great short walk to the waterfall. The trail follows the creek and there are many crossings. Make sure to bring a dry set of socks and shoes and leave them by the car. There is a big chance of getting wet if the creeks level is medium/high.
M.
Good car parking, away from main road. Excellent signage for walking tracks. You can camp here, but it's not free. There are toilets (two sets that I saw) but no rubbish bins separate to the toilets.
S.
Love the wet feet track on a hot day, great shade
A.
Really good campsite, only $8 per person a night. Unmanned so you pay by putting money in an envelope, so ensure you have exact cash handy as you obviously won't be getting any change back. Nicely kept toilets and drinking water, a good find for the price.
A.
Good walk but signs need to have approximate times the walks take
C.
$8 a night for camping. Free day parking. Right off the highway, so the front camping area gets a little noise. Bathrooms are big and fairly clean. Clean drinking water. There are some cool hikes in the area.
R.
Love all the tracks and hills.
L.
Great discovery finding this massive Regional Park. Some excellent bush walks in here. The wet foot track is particularly impressive. Wellington is lucky to have such a beautiful reserve in it's backyard
C.
A nice little campground with self pay. That can make it difficult because you need to have the exact cash amount. But there is drinking water and a nice little bathroom with hikes close by and dogs are allowed.
H.
Nice camping location near to the city, $8 for adult once night, in winter gate will be open form 6am to 6pm in summer, fully open.
S.
Nice spot with good scenery. Fantastic facilities, good drinking water and nice toilets. Downside is no showers. Lots of space. A little bit noisy at times because of clos proximity to the motorway but no deal breaker
P.
Great campsite, only $8 pp. make sure you have exact change for the envelope you put your monies in. Peaceful place with loads of spots and clean toilets and drinking water.
R.
Nice new toilets. Can't park in grass and only a few sites but really good spot. Even a few glowworms up the track
Z.
Such a wholesome walk
T.
This camping ground also makes for a good tramp or two. Dogs are allowed on a leash and walking through the bush is a nice reprieve for a hot summers day.
G.
A few times the toilets have been out of TP. Lots of people camp there in their cars and vans. It can be crowded. Good hill walks.
M.
Walk a few hundred metres from the carpark and if you're their at the right time you might see the amazing Karearea - NZ Falcon performing aerobatics. Watch out Native Wood Pigeons - Kereru.
Remembering to duck should be all you need to do, if the Karearea decides to see you off. P.S. Karearea is a near threated species with a decreasing population. They are protected and need your protection.
C.
Mostly quiet place for tents, cars or Campervans. Water & toilets available, for 6$ a night perfectly fine
L.
Parking and toilets dogs on leads. Did the dry creek loop. Well signed. 2 hours. Great views.
B.

a.

G.

Clean flushing toilets.
K.
Some beautifully relaxing meals and some challenging ones... amazing views of the hills from the top and well worth a visit.
K.

J.
Great facilities, good walking tracks and plenty of space to camp.

(Translated) Pleasant campsite for $ 8. Two large toilets, a large sink and drinking water. The site is the start of several hikes. The little one towards the waterfall is to walk in the water 😉

(Translated) The place is ideal to wait for the ferry.
6 NS dollars are fair. When you drive backwards it is absolutely quiet. A waterfall can also be reached on foot. The toilets are modern, but unfortunately when we were there they were blocked and nobody checked them.
