Reviews of Turakina Antiques

This place is so wonderful, could spend hours looking around in there. Cafe is spectacular and as a hospitality worker myself i can truly see how much the staff enjoy their jobs and how much love and care the owners have put into the place.
A.
Love this shop. Great selection of antiques. Allow yourself plenty of time to browse the stock. Included is a very fine cafe.
P.
Stopped here for a coffee recently, it was midweek and during autumn.
Not too busy, so was lucky enough to get to have a great chat with one of the owners. They take an obvious, great pride in their establishment. This flows through into all elements of the café and their prodigious selection of antiques.
There is a very nice sun drenched courtyard outside to savour the coffee and any of the other temptations available.
C.
Loved this it's such a treasure trove takes you back in time and lovely coffee.
R.
Wonderful people run this lovely business. Brilliant atmosphere and great food. I highly recommend the cafe because thats where my priorities ly.
B.
Amazing memorabilia, cafe has great food too.
C.
They are super nice. Cafe too with outdoors setting and a cute little doggy who picks up the kiddies scrapes that fall on the ground. 😋
S.
Lovely place and nice food. The dog is cute 😃
W.
Lovely place to visit and browse /buy Fab food
Priced for the market

The ladies at the cafe were SO lovely and went above and beyond to accommodate my very active 19-month-old daughter, as well as our party of 8! The food and coffee was great too, but the standout was definitely the service!
M.
This is the place to go without a doubt. When everyone else is going home, and putting their closed sign up, you can get service. Last week I was having teath issues, and they cooked me scrambled eggs, delicious and this is at 3.30 pm. I also took home a slice of their most scrumptious fruit cake. It doesn't get much better than that. Again my dog is welcome in the garden water provided.
l.
Awesome antique store/curiosity shop and cafe. Give yourself 2-3 hours to properly browse to enjoy the collections and vast human history on display - buy something amazing. Then have a meal or coffee at the excellent in-house cafe. Toilets available: just ask.
J.
Great antique shop and little cafe. Real awesome range of items available for purchase.
A.
Really lovely service, always love popping in for some lunch and a browse on my way through. Broccoli, cauliflower and blue vein soup is to die for!
V.
An amazing number of antiques, beautifully displayed, and a superb cafe.
Friendly, helpful staff
G.
Massive very clean, tidy, organised antique shop with Great Cafe inside. Well worth the stop off on our way South. Will recommend to all.
L.
Absolutely fantastic! Rooms and rooms of quality items laid out to be seen. Everything imaginable. Biggest antique shop I've ever been in. Check opening days and hours prior or you may miss out.
D.
What an amazing place I could spend hours drooling over all the amazing treasure... Lunch was great, we split a big breakfast... Cripes I couldn't manage that alone... It was too large... We did have a wee friend who sat at my feet, tapping my leg, in the hope I would share my breakfast with him... Sorry buddy...human food for humans, dog food for dogs...
S.
I have been there several times over the years. Even as a day trip destination as my wife loves curios coming from a non European background. Ive not eat there yet but the reviews make it enticing. If you are on your way north or south Foxton has another
P.
A wonderful antique shop full with a wide range of interesting and beautiful items. Excellent to visit and browse around for everyone. Fabulous food and coffee shop. The owners are friendly and professional and go the extra mile.
R.
Turakina Antiques is a gem. It is like a tardis, appears small on the outside, and huge inside. Packed with genuine antiques, from wedgewood China to 1870s furniture, tools, dolls to a huge collection of crystal glassware, I'm guessing in the 10,000 range. If bank interest is no good, try an investment here, at least you'll love the experience and have something to enjoy! Nice cafe in the middle, helpful staff. This is a destination, not a drive by! Don't bring small kids or dogs, way too many fascinating breakables.
D.
Wow. This place is incredible. Packed to the rafters with antiques of all sizes and prices. The friendly owners are passionate Collectors themselves. A store that I make special trips to. But set aside a good few hours to browse, there is a massive amount of stock here.
G.
Good cafe and you can explore for hours the vast array of collections. Like a museum. Don't not stop if the flags are up!
C.
Amazing! You need lots of time as the store is very full. Well laid out which made it easy to look around. Cafe also nice also. Very friendly owners.
D.
Something for everyone here and very friendly. Didn't feel too scared to touch. Lovely food and coffee, and gluten free well looked after.
R.
I've never seen a Antique shop like this one. Well stocked well worth a stop over traveling to Wanganui
J.
This place is an amazing collection of all things young and old. All of it for sale. If you are a collector this us a must stop. There's a cafe too.
E.
Turakina Antiques and Collectibles is a treasure trove that you'd be hard pressed to beat anywhere in the world. It has a vast and amazingly diverse range of stock at very reasonable prices. The lady who owns the business is very pleasant to deal with and clearly loves sharing her love of antiques and collectibles with like-minded people. The shop also has a cafe and while we didn't use the cafe on this visit it's great to know it exists. We can see ourselves pondering whether to buy XYZ over a cup of coffee and some of the delicious looking food on offer.
C.
Full of amazing cool old stuff and many antiques, particularly but certainly not exclusively crockery etc. Includes medals, toy trains, old tools, butter churns, old clothes, posters, books, brass stuff, bottles and more. It deserves a higher rating from me except for the excessive prices which makes it more of a museum or a hobby than a shop perhaps.
M.
Amazing place, goes on and on with such gorgeous antiques and quirky collectibles, coffee was awesome, highlight was meeting the pet pigs, all boys... my favourite was ‘maryanne’ lol! Will definitely be back!
A.
An absolutely amazing store, staff were so lovely and really passionate about the things in the store. Highly recommend. Looking forward to going back on my next trip. Thank you so much 😎😎

T.
What a great shop something for everybody, you could spend hours there and not see everything and lovely coffee
L.
Turakina Antiques is a beautifully presented, well-laid out Antique shop and cafe. It is a wonderful large 'destination store ' to explore, with many rooms to discover, countless collectibles for every passion and a lovely cafe onsite with great coffee. A must-see if you love Antiquing.
G.
Vast collection of China, glass and other "antiques" / collectibles. The shop sprawls through various rooms so that it's almost like going into somebody's bedroom. They now have a tearoom that served tea in a proper China teapot and cup and saucer. The toasted cheese sandwich was delicious and reasonably priced.
Not a lot of furniture but the choice of other items is overwhelming.
G.
Best real orange juice milkshake ever, from their in-house cafe! Fabulous collection of antiques and very personable and friendly owners. Not to be missed.
R.

M.
Such an incredible assortment of antiques and friendly cafe. The first time I have been there, and well worth the stop on my cycle ride.
C.
What a delight! A labour of love by the owner, Shona. I felt guilty when I deprived the owner of something by buying it. Huge variety and amount. Interested in an antique left handed widget? Shona will have on display a range of a dozen and have another dozen in storage. Shona should forget about selling the stuff and turn her shop into a museum.
R.

(Translated) It was the first time I saw so many antique products. There was everything from tableware to furniture and accessories. There are a lot of things, but it was neat and easy to see. There was also a cute cafe inside.

あんなにたくさんのアンティークの商品を見たのは初めてでした。食器から家具、アクセサリーなんでもありました。物はたくさんあるけど、ちゃんと整頓されていて見やすかったです。中に可愛いカフェもありました。
