Beautiful nature walk, wide paths for strollers or wheelchairs. Dog friendly on leeds. Public toilets. Kids play area, wetland lookout. Beautiful in all seasons only 5 minutes from town.

Our family has just moved to the area and walking around the lake has become a regular occasion. Plenty of safe parking, well kept waking tracks and a lake the size of a large pond making it an easy, non time consuming walk. Kid friendly with play and obstacle equipment at various places along the way. Pet friendly as well.

It's nice for a walk or run. Currently play disc golf there. I'd reccomend more stand for dog poo bags. Get rid of some of the ducks and other birds. Clean the water ways as some are disgusting while others look fresh and clean but still polluted. Has alot of potential.

Good place for a weekend visit. There is cycle track. You can take your pet as well. They have a free barbecue area. You can do family picnic (take cooked food with you and one time use plates).

Love this place, go walking every day. Excellent for every one old and young, people like walking there dogs if the dogs aren't walking them., There are people cycling and running, on the lake there is rowing, plenty to keep you fit or just to go and relax or feed the ducks and swans. I would recommend everyone visit this beautiful lake and the visitors from out of town certainly worth a trip to the WAIRARAPA HENLEY LAKE PARK Beautiful place to go, recommend this place for every one to visit. The park is in a beautiful setting. Ideal for either a long or short walk. There are several varieties of waterbirds waiting to eat the scraps from either your picnic lunch or take-away. A good place to walk your dog or ride bikes. There is convenient parking and good toilet facilities.

Gorgeous setting. Geese, ducks and swans are around the place. Theres a playground and carpark quite close to the lake. Very nice place to take a picnic, to eat in or out of the car. Theres also a lot of walks you can do around the lake. Some people find it's a great place to walk the dog too.

Always great at Henly Lake with exception of people who dont pick up their dog poop or throw bags n poop away and the dogs that chase the wildlife and the alsation that deals to the wildlife.Otherwise fine. Oh no now kids are chasing wildlife. Lovely place to visit. Breeding season nice to see dogs on led. Question...what is the use of muzzling dogs and leaving them free to chase wildlife.

Always a nice spot to destress, but the multitude of water foul is a mixed blessing. Their mess is significant, as is the smell. Not sure how to balance that, although other towns seem to manage better. Perhaps a selective cull is needed.

Really nice well kept little park. Lovely for a walk or a run, free barbeques if you want a picnic. Plenty of birds on the lake and around and we saw people involved in various different paddle sports - outriggers and dragon boat (I think - not my area of expertise!) Anyway a lovely spot on a sunny day.

Henley Lake Park is a local gem -- nice and flat with well-maintained trails, suitable for walking and bike-riding. It's beautifully maintained, a nice picturesque oasis on the edge of Lansdowne. I was there for a photo shoot today -- great light and autumnal colors. There were both black and white swans, two species of ducks, and a whole squadron of Canada geese. It's a popular place to walk dogs. The pond was magnificent. Recommended.

Nice walks but needs some imaginative landscape architect to get some planned plantings eg taxodiu distichum and kahikatea along the lakeside and stream edges and gives of other trees on the bare lawns of which there are too many. Plant oaks, totara, chestnut, pinoaks redwood etc. Not too hard to do I should suppose.

It was wonderful to watch ducks and ducklings following the nice sunset and lush green trees and a barbecue area to have one day picnic it's the best place there's ample of space to sit and watch the view enjoying ur meal in d open area. It was wonderful being there with my partner.

Henley Lake is at the centre of a network of flat tracks winding through 43 hectares of wetlands and native plantings in Masterton, popular with walkers, cyclists, runners and families. The Waipoua River and Ruamahanga River flow along two sides of the reserve with excellent picnic spots along the banks. There’s heaps of birdlife at Henley Lake too - someone recorded over 72 different species of birds. The Henley Lake and Wetlands Trail, as part of Masterton's Recreational Trails is 3.6km. Entry to this trail is from Colombo Road or Te Ore Ore Road. Download a map of the Recreational Trails here, or take a look at the interconnecting Landsdowne Recreational Trail. Henley Lake is also the site of the ‘splash and dash’ event as part of the Wairarapa Balloon Festival. Balloonists test their skills with a flight over the lake dipping their basket into the water before taking off again.

Was a pleasure visiting Masterton today to catch up with a friend and then later walk off lunch around Henley Lake. Beautiful setting for a leisurely walk, run or a family picnic. Area has plenty of seats/tables. Such a nice surprise to see 5 young fawny coloured swans out on the lake with their mom. And bumping into and having a quick chat to an old timer/ legend from LCC doing his fitness run round the lake. Keep moving and moving on is an awesome motto D!! 😀💥👍

Henley Lake is a beautiful place to go for a walk by yourself, with your dog, with the kids etc. Plenty of ducks who love a feed of duck pellets, pity someone has decided to dump some domestic ducks here. The grass carp are monsters!! Just be sure to check toxic algae warning in summer for the safety of yourself, children and dogs!

It has small parking area and has easy acess to the river thats a nice easy walk it sad no loos gotta walk 5 plus minuers to nearest bathroom facinities and the cyclists use the pedrestrian walkways which is sighn poted share with care but cyclist use it as a race way and cycle as fast as they can cyclists never give way or go slow and expect all predestrians elderly and perdestrians with prams or dogs on leads to move off the predestrian foot path to give way to them which makes the area un plesant

A massive park with sooooo many walkways to explore! Unfortunately the lake is unswimable due to algae bloom but don't let that put you off from going. Wild fowl abounds there with nesting season being particularly special 😊 Two rivers border Henley Lake which are swimable and also exciting to explore, so all in all a really cool place to spend the day with the family. p.s. did I mention that you can free camp in the car park there too??! 😎

What a pity, the toilets really let down this lovely lake park. I would have expected better as they are closed overnight (7pm -7am summer daylight saving and 5pm-8am winter). I didn't know scratchy boxed toilet paper still existed! Still they work and are there and out didn't spoil our stay amongst the ducks and geese.

Ok toilets, good walk with good view of the mountains, good dairy to buy food or ice creams ,would be ok for wheel chairs around lake ,nice easy track...kids have plentiful of areas to ride bikes and there is good play grounds ,ideal for picnics

Great place what a same people can't use the toilet properly . The doors were locked block by thing not surpose to be flushed in them but there were two port aloos and they were over full not a good site or smell .

Beautiful for walking or just about any other activity. The droppings from the local geese and swans can be a bit overwhelming at times however.

Didn't like the amount of sludge here. The toilets needed an upgrade and the grounds are covered in ducks' droppings.
