J.Incredible place to walk feels more like an adventure!!! climbing threw and over rocks lots to see we took 4 of our kids aged 10 to 5 years old the walk was nice for them but wouldn't say it's safe once you get to the hole was totally beautiful though 😉
P.This was a great short walk. Lots of campers there too. There were toilets and fresh water there too. Recommend a visit
C.A great short walk to the hole with beautiful forest and rock formations. The hole is incredible but a little frightening with no barriers or viewing platform.
There is a short 10 minute detour to a lookout with stunning views that is well worth doing, but again has no barrier or viewing platform.
W.Amazing place, I have been there 2 times because only 1 wasn't enough.
B.Wonderful walk in the shade and cool below the beech tree canopy. Go to the lookout at the fork (right) the view is spectacular. We're older and wore boots but younger adults were even doing this walk in flipflops. The 11 km dirt road drive to the starting point was slow, sub 20 kmh to keep rocks from damaging my small rental car. There was tap water in the car park and TP in the pit toilet.
B.Nice walk to the pothole. Last 400m with lots of rocks to climb over. Take enough time to get there and back. It is a massive hole!

l.You can not see the opening of harwoods hole as its surrounded my cliffs unless you were to absail to bottom harwoods hole is 176 mts deep theres no safety barriers on lookout so be careful don't get to close to edge to get a view .Nice 30 min hike through the forest to harwoods hole not a steep climp just last part climping on boulders to get to view point .You can also car camp for $6 a nite in doc camp at carpark

P.We loved this walk. The drive in is rewarded with a stunning walk through the woods abundant with wildlife. We saw Weka and NZ Robins which were awesome.
You feel like your walking through pristine native forest. Although we never walked to the bottom of Harwood's Hole (challenge for young kids)it was still very impressive and highly recommended.
M.Amazing, if you are in the area this is a must see! Narrow gravel road out to the start of the track, toilet available.
N.Quite the drive out here. The initial walk, for the first 40 min, is easy. The last 15 min of both the viewpoint and the hole are "routes" instead of tracks, making them more technical and slow. The last 5 minutes of each are over big boulders. Easy if you are confident, difficult if not. Beautiful view from the viewpoint. The hole is neat to see, thought the view is obstructed.

n.Easy walk in dry weather. Can be slippery on the rocks as you approach the caves. Amazing and must do in Abel tasman park
M.Incredible scenery, the walk is difficult in places but well worth it when you reach the sink hole itself. The view point may be good but it was cloudy when I got up there so all I could see was the edge of the cliff.

N.The drive: 25 mins off road some parts narrow and steep. 4 WD when icy!
The walk: 45m. to the "Hole" - it starts with the mossy, mystical LOTR‘s terrain you’ve been waiting for, dominated by some epic birdsong overtones. Then come the rocks. The navigation through them gets successively harder until you reach the Hole.
At that point, you better have good grip on yer boots as the slimy rock is all between you and a fatal dive down.
This is of course the whole appeal of the place. A thrill to get the adrenaline pumping. I highly recommend this 90m. adventure with a strong dose of caution!

Y.Difficult walk for the last 30 min. As a non climber i dont intend to absail down the cave, so the amount of effort it took to reach harwoods hole was not really worth it.
Beware - this place is really dangerous. I brought my one yr old along and didnt brg her all the way to the hole. Towards the end i had to hope from one rock to another or use hands to balance myself.
Not for children.

C.Wow! Breathtaking views. I especially enjoyed the track that veers off to the right before Harwood hole. It feels so untouched. Absolutely loved it.
X.As mentioned, the last bit is not a path at all, but the cave is definitely something to behold. Unique black rocks all over.
J.A magic magic spot - you must go here. Go at sunset to the lookout over Takaka valley - but don’t forget your torch for the walk back through the forest in the dark!
