w.Great little art house cinema. Lots of mismatched sofas and seats. You can buy tea etc that is served to you in your chair. The films are introduced by Ted. Would highly recommend.

K.Independent Cinema's are so attractive with the non Bollywood offerings. Recently went to a screening for a Charitable cause and the only downside was that the 'full house' show started ...25 minutes late as the owner was having to be a jack of all trades , a catering assistant would have made the night as magic as the screening was ; above and beyond many mainstream cinema offerings .

V.Cool casual retro seating. Blankets available if cold. Food and drinks available to purchase, can also be arranged for Ted (owner/manager) to bring to you when movie has started. Wheelchair accessible, toilets clean

P.This an amazing little cinema in Motueka, I have now been there twice and love the range of movies and feel of the theatre.
The staff are engaging and knowledgeable, the range of movies caters for all tastes.
They even have a couple of movie clubs.

P.Loved The Gecko Cinema! We went on a Saturday afternoon and enjoyed every moment. The small cinema is perfect for the town. The lady serving was really nice and very friendly. We loved having our popcorn made for us, grabbing a couch and chilling out with our feet up watching a movie. Will be back whenever we're in Motueka!

m.Great to find a movie theatre held by and made for movie lovers, not only for the commercial and pop corn aspects of cinema.
Something more personal with presentations at the beginning, and nice service by an owner who wants to share his passion and fulfill the clients' needs.
The concept of the sofas instead of the classical chairs makes us feel at home.
Some snacks and drinks, pleasant toilets with all the posters on the wall, nothing's missing.
It's a pity that with the e-cinema projection they can only have the rights on some independant movies and not always the big ones distributed on DCP, otherwise we would go only to this theatre.

J.Independent cinemas are the life-blood of a community. Ghecko shows the kind of movies I thought were only available in slick, city cinemas and at film festivals. Not so. The Ghecko is Motueka's very own Art House Movie Theatre with couches and mix-matched chairs and blankets if you get chilly. It's a home away from home!
