If you want a mind reset then visit here, walking/bicycle tracks and amazing bird life. Fishing off the rocks and wharfs is the favourite for my children.

Ideal spot to take a stroll alone or with tht someone special (especially before sunset) or with the whanau. Is definitely a favourite place I like to visit when I need time to reflect.

Good place to relax an throw out a fishing rod and enjoy the day with the family

Great spot for a variety of recreation, walking, swimming, cycling and best of all wine & dine with a variety of restaurants available along the quay

I took the walkway track on estuary. It has great views, the right place for those who like nature, wildlife and fresh air.

A beautiful place for a walk or just to sit on the car with the windows down watching the boats come and go.

Beautiful place with a beautiful walk featuring boardwalks and the old bridge. The walk is easy and great for families as it is not too long (3.2kms =45mins-1hr). There's also heaps of information signs to read about the environment and animals that live in the eastuary. Definitely recommend doing.

Travel just past Ahuriri towards Bayview and park the car up. Great time to visit is sunset. Walk the expansive boardwalks passing by Maori totems and local artwork. The estuary holds a vast array of wildlife birds, fish and plant life. Take time out to relax and contemplate, a great walk.

Beautiful walking track

Love the walk. So good for kids, very easy. The only thing is the sand fly sworms get a bit much. I mean they aren't there the whole walk but there's some areas where there are just loads of them.

Beautiful autumn colours. Parts of the estuary have a no cycling sign which is disappointing as I think there is room for respectful use by walkers and cyclists.

Ahuriri estuary is a great place to go for a bike ride, walks. There is plenty of parking including public bathroom. If you are lucky enough you may see the whales swimming by and playing in the shallow waters, or find a seal or two sunbathing on the rocks. Many people go surfcasting from the rocks and seems to be a very popular place for fishing. If you are hungry, there are plenty of restaurants nearby, from typical fish and chips shop to Indian takeaway including Thai food and pizza.

Nice to have this activity so close to town, and a wonderful place to view bird and marine life from a well maintained track and boardwalk.An interesting walk from the fishing boats along what was once woolstores and now reasurants/bars,past the yhe Iron Pot mooring area and around past the river entrance then along the harbour side.
