Reviews of Napier Beach
A.
Tranquil sounds of the big waves hitting the shore. Some days are good and some days a dumpers. We even meet one of the local lifeguards who informed us to stay clear of the water as it has a very unpredictable undertow. Great to see they are out and looking after us.
P.
This would have to be one of the best waterfront parks in NZ along Marine Parade. There is art, great pathways for walking/cycling/roller blading etc. There are lots of toilets. Also, from memory there is: a public swimming baths, NZ national aquarium, gardens, skate park, playground, kids bike area, pump track. One thing not recommended is swimming in the sea. It is NOT a safe swimming beach. Enjoy
H.
Napier lovely but the beach warnings are not big or noticeable enough. I didn't see them when I visited the first time and this week a child has died. It's not a swimming beach ... the surf just dumps ... locals know this. Whether the local council don't want to advertise this fact, I don't know, but there should be signs in the and and they should be multilingual.
B.
The beach is a pebble beach rather than a sand beach. I did go in winter and it was raining the whole time so it wasn't the best place to be. It is a nice area to walk around though, lots of things to do nearby. There is also quite a nice lookout area on the city end of the beach, it heads out towards the water almost like a pier.
s.
Beautiful place .clean and tidy .
Ocean is very calm .
Really nice view.
E.
It was a rather unique beach with black pebbles as the "sand". It is also strangely scary to know that the sea you are staring out into is directly connected to the South Pole with no land in between.
Threw a wine bottle with written love letters and hopes for my future into the sea. Here's to hoping it becames a floating time capsule!
N.
The Napier water front 'promenade' is long and a great walk. Beach is mostly pebbly and quite steep in places, but once out of the town center, great to let your dog have run. Huge grassy areas, plenty of parking and limited over night van spots...the best are popular so go early. The Ahuriri (spelling?) area has a cool beachy vibe, with cafes etc. Overall really liked it, and the water front development is an ongoing asset for Napier.
M.
Promenade the parade. Enjoy the history and art of Napier. Great for all ages.
B.
The walk along the beach is really relaxing. We love to go to the pier and stand over the splashing waves and feel the breeze.
A.
Great place to walk the dogs. Super dangerous for swimming though. Don't go swimming there
R.
Beach is nothing special but the gardens are colourful and well kept plus there is plenty of parking for your walk around Napier to look at the art deco architecture. Convenient for the i-site.
T.
It is suitable for a walk if you're around the esplanade, but it isn't the best beach since it's cobblestone and not great for swimming because of the undertow.
A.

This is a beautiful place for a walk, jog,or bike ride
r.
Beautiful rocky beach to sit on have a lovely picnic or walk along on the walkways. Wouldnt suggest going into the waters as they get really deep really quickly. But the view and sounds are serene. Can visit the aquarium or the spas or go onto the skate park or mini gold for some fun also.
R.
Great place to go for a walk or sit and watch the world go by.
N.
The waterfront is very well designed and a beautiful place to go for a walk, run, bike etc. It's a great place to take kids for something to do. The beach itself is unguarded and has a steep drop off so is quite unsafe to swim at. It's very beautiful however to look at and sit beside the water.
E.

This is a wild and unpredictable beach, so treat it with the respect it deserves - admire the power of the surf from a safe distance, but don't go into the water. There are great opportunities for beachcombing after high tide.
C.
