Reviews of Tangoio Falls Scenic Reserve tracks
N.
Great reserve with 2 walking track options - both are pretty easy so great for families or a walk to a cool off spot in summer. Good facilities available with a long drop style toilet and a covered picnic table. Remember to leave no trace when you visit by not littering. You can also join onto white pine bush (1 hr walk)
N.
The track is much more difficult & steep after the first and on way up to the second waterfall. A little underwhelming, as the first was prettier. Was quite muddy in one big spot but otherwise a good track.
L.
Has a big parking area with a toilet at the end, there is tables and seating on the other side of the swing bridge. It's a easy walk along the side of the stream to the 1st waterfall (Te Ana falls). Then on your way to Tangoio falls the walkway is all uphill and can be muddy and slippery when wet so be careful

There are 2 waterfalls in this Reserve. The first one is a small Falls after a short walk after crossing the swing bridge; the 2nd one is much bigger one but only visible from a platform that’s built at a distance n to reach there you have to climb uphill. It’s worth the effort though
F.
Great short walk to waterfalls and really nice for a family outing. 20 mins walk to Te Ana Falls. Water is cold but It’s refreshing after hot summer walk. There’s another waterfall further up about 15 mins walk but be mindful that it’s only a look out and some of the track are about 500mm - 600mm you need to be extra careful especially when the ground is wet could be a little slippery.
D.
Love it, nice easy walk along creek to fist waterfall, steeper walk from there to second waterfall, easier contour if going on to white pine Bush,
I.
A pleasant easy walk and the falls are picturesque, the walk is well made and suitable for most abilities, you can tackle the uphill section to a lookout to another water fall, but take your time as it's uphill all the way. There is a distant view of the waterfall up this track, whereas the first falls can be touched up close.
T.
Tangoio falls scenic tracks are an escape from all sorts of Disturbances. It is a track with a stream going beside the it.. There are two beautiful waterfalls as main attractions, Te Ana falls which is only a 40 minutes walk from carpark and Tangoio falls Lookout which is a 1 hour return walk...It is an easy walk which can be enjoyed by people with average fitness.. Need hiking shoes as the surface is slippery at areas .
W.
Beautiful hike in, not too difficult and suitable for kids. Beautiful spot!
K.
The whole experience is building, starts with a nice cable bridge which leads to Bush walk and then the water fall out of nowhere......
Dont waste your walk to the top unless you want to burn some calories.....😃😃
Á.
Beautiful quick walking track right next to the highway. Ideal for stretching legs after long drive or just to have a picnic with great views
T.
Just a short walk well marked
C.
Amazing forest and waterfalls... so bad that people are so dirty and leave garbage in the place... don't be one of them!
h.
Always a great place to get away have a really nice walk
A.
The Tangoio Fall carpark fills up fast so you're best to start at the other end at White Pines where there is much more parking and seating for eating. The 45 minute walk this way takes you down through 2 small redwood glades and down to the falls for a swim at the waterfall. Trees across the path hopefully will be cleared and some of the pathway re-gravelled when they do maintenance on it from. Nov 2020 to May 2021. A nice little walk.
M.
Easy walk to a very pretty spot.
G.
Great walk and waterfall views. Sturdy shoes needed, even in dry weather there's a few boggy patches. Sign at the trailhead states 40 min return to Te Ana Falls and 50 min return to Tangoio Falls lookout, but once you get to Te Ana Falls the sign says another 15 mins each way to the lookout, which is more accurate.
H.
Very easy walk and a beautiful waterfall. Totally worth visiting.
N.
Good walking tracks and a couple of lovely waterfalls. Great for a dip to cool off.
C.
Very nice waterfall hidden in the forest! The short walk along the river prepares you to jump in the water hole and enjoy the water shower from the fall. Would definetly recommend to go have a look, especially on a hot day as the water is quite cold.
N.
Beautiful waterfall beautiful bush walks
E.
The first falls (Te Ana Falls) was a good walk and lovely waterfall. Nice place to have a dip and enjoy the waterfall. Would 100% recommend this one.
The second (Tongoio Falls) was a much tougher walk as it had recently rained and the path was quite dangerous. Very thin at parts with nothing to hold onto and clay/sludge very easy to slip in. To be honest the view at the end wasn't really worth it in the wet conditions.
C.
Great for looking for bugs and getting bitten by mole crickets. Loved it so much it's worth it to eat dog poo there
A.
Beautiful walk, with two options based on difficulty and distance. Very sturdy shoes needed for second part of track to main waterfall. First waterfall offers small swimming hole. Second waterfall has platform only and no water access. The picnic area is close to the carpark, and toilets off carpal also.
T.
Hidden nature walk containing two beautiful waterfalls. The first (Te Ana falls) is viewable up close, meaning superb photos and has a small swimming hole which the kids loved. Whereas the further waterfall (Tangoio falls) is viewed from a platform. The walk to the first waterfall took 15 minutes, is well maintained and suitable for buggies although some recent tree falls meant some carrying. The second waterfall took an additional 15 mins but is stepper although easily walked by early school age children. The enclosed tables were a great spot to have lunch, with plenty of native birdlife to keep the kids entertained. Basic toilets are hidden to the right of the swing bridge but you'll need to bring your own paper.
R.
This is a popular bush walk approximately 20 min drive from Napier. On Easter weekend the carpark was completely full. The walk to Te Ana falls takes 15 min over mostly flat terrain. Tangoio falls takes another 15 to 20 min from Te Ana and is mostly steep uphill walking. There is a safe viewing platform to see the falls. The track continues to White Pine Bush carpark and takes approximately one hour from Tangoio falls with another climb followed by mostly flat terrain.
G.
Loved that it's a nice walk only 20 minutes North of Napier. Refreshing time out with nature and the water was crisp yet very inviting in this 30 + heatwave we are having in HB.
S.
Magical feels like your in a walking through a fairytale
T.
Beautiful, manageable walk to the waterfall and swimming hole. Saw fish in the stream and a lot of wild goats. Really pretty area.
K.
Good walk for kids and adults
L.
It's nice place with a short walk to see the two waterfalls, but it was very very slippery. And you can't really go in the water if you have the same idea than me.
S.
The most beautiful waterfall.. but dont leave anything in your car!!!!!!! They broke into a car today and robbed everything.. please be aware and take care !!!
S.
The walk, nature and peacefulness its relaxing and good to get out. And you meet different ethnic groups. Marvelous tracks and an awesome waterfall 😍💖

Great walk, easy enough for the kids but long enough to be interesting. Waterfalls beautiful.
R.
When you love nature this is the good place to walk through woods and enjoy scenic view
T.
A nice walk with an easy gradient. Neither set of falls were spectacular but it was pretty.

(Translated) You can see a beautiful waterfall, wind around the waterfall and cool off. Sometimes I have a naked young friend and just look cute. If you go there, you will understand why.
