Reviews of Trelinnoe Park
What a great place for a picnic with the family. Unforgettable for the kids.
This garden is one of the few great gardens in Hawke's Bay and has a status of national significance.
It is magnificently landscaped and well maintained.
It caters for interested all year round. Unfortunately the recent drought seems to have brought diseases to the rhododendrons and the azelias are on the decline, too. Hope they recover soon💚.
Visited in Oct 2019. Delightful woodland gardens with spring flowers. Azaleas and rhododendrons starting to bloom.
Well worth the drive from Napier of about 50 minutes. Take your own food as cafe closed currently. We took almost 4hrs to enjoy tho could be done quicker. Lovely for picnic and leisurely relaxation walking along reasonable pathways. If wet take suitable footwear. Can be cool.
Hidden gardens, with plenty of see, take a picnic and take your time to enjoy the beauty this family have produced. Toilets are available. The cafe is closed due to no staff. The car park has beautiful views at the top.
Backpacker accommodation available. See website.
Entry $10/per person took me 3 hours plus with a picnic. Worth it for a day trip
Trelinnoe Park is a pretty garden and picnic area. It would be amazing to see in Autumn or Spring. We have just visited in the middle of Summer and it is nice. The toilets were clean and tidy. It’s a shame the cafe isn’t open. The lawns were recently mowed so it was lovely to walk around on. It would be nice to see some more commitment to the gardens in relation to keeping the plants and trees in good health as a lot of them are suffering from disease.
This is a hidden gem in Hawke's Bay. The extensive, mature gardens were a delight to visit in autumn. One can easily spend a couple of hours gently strolling the grounds. There are also some statues and sculptures near the homestead which give the place an added elegance. Although a cafe is on the site, it wasn't open on the day we visited - good we checked first! But the owners are happy for you to use the tables and chairs to eat your own lunch.
