Reviews of Eagars Funerals

My review of Eagars Funerals is well overdue, but is still given with great appreciation and high praise. When my father died the Eagars team was outstanding in every single way. I worked closest with Richard, but Casey, William, Kelsey, Ashleigh and Spencer all played an important part in his final journey. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble. I never, for an instant, felt I wasn't listened to or that my ideas were not set as paramount to the process. Richard steered us through the maze of decisions with quiet strength, broad knowledge and fail-safe advice. As it was a funeral with full military honours, Richard's personal military experience was invaluable. The team were well-organised and so, so kind and always available to advise and help. They understood every nuance of grief and the surrealism of losing a loved one. They treated my Dad with such huge respect and it gave our family comfort and joy to see this particular aspect of their team style. Everything was done perfectly. Thank you all so much Eagars Funerals. You were the perfect choice for our family and we will always be grateful for the extra distance and professionalism shown by you all with the added smile and the always 'can do' attitude. Thank you again Team Eagars. Lest we forget.

Thank you Casey, Nicky, Richard, Kelsey and Chantelle for enabling us to send off our dear dad with such care, professionalism and skill. Te Henui Chapel is beautiful, and the sound and tech support for our live music, tributes, and the livestream was seamless. A talented and caring team - thank you all.

I am so glad we went with Eagers for my partner Ernie recent funeral.. (even though he had said they would be too posh for him.)
Their professionalism combined with empathy friendliness and desire to meet all our needs is a rare thing in any organisation.
The venue is beautiful and comfortable.
The recommended caterers and celebrant were perfect.
It WAS posh but costs were completely reasonable.
Nga mihi nui Casey and team

Having our beautiful Pauline taken away from us so suddenly was the most devastating event for so many family and friends. The pain and emptiness was numbing and we so wanted to have a farewell that would celebrate the wonderful , loving person that she was and would reflect her love of life and the people who she touched with her grace, style and endless caring.
Eagers were superb in all facets in arranging a funeral that encapsulated all that Pauline was. They, Casey, Richard, Kelsey and Nicky were the ultimate professional team . They understood our requirements from the start and we had full confidence that the service would reflect this- they delivered in a service that was unforgettable. Nothing was a problem, nothing was too much to ask- we are indebted to you.
Your use of technology meant that so many friends overseas were able to watch the service as though they were there personally- what a bonus.
A classy farewell for the classiest of ladies .

To Casey, Richard, Glenn and Nicky, Thank you so much for your help with Dad’s funeral arrangements over the last week. You made it as easy and comfortable for our family as it possibly could be. We are very grateful to have been able to use your services. Eagars are completely professional, extremely caring and thoughtful, with amazing attention to detail.

Eagar’s Funeral Services delivered our Brothers funeral on 23rd October.
Casey and William were exceptional very professional, caring and gave us great advice in preparation for the funeral.
The Chapel was an awesome setting to celebrate my brothers life. There was a large number of people in attendance and the additional screens for viewing were brilliant. We were also able to stream the funeral live for people who couldn’t attend.
Casey was so sensitive and empathetic when dealing with our family. Everything had a personal touch in the delivery of all their services.
We highly recommend Eagars to deliver a funeral to the highest standard.

When my Dad passed away recently, Casey, Kelsey and the Eagars team could not have been more wonderful. They were so accommodating, professional and nothing was too much trouble, despite the longer timeframe in the lead up to the funeral. Eagars asked us to trust them in the funeral process and I'm so glad we did, the personal touches they added made for an amazing send off for Dad. The Te Henui Chapel is so lovely and was perfect for our ceremony. Thank you Casey and Kelsey, for making a extremely difficult time for my family very special.

Eagers, especially Kelsey, ensured Dad's funeral was a celebration. They were caring, extremely professional and listened to what we wanted to deliver a top class service. Everyone was impressed with the Chapel, the surrounding environment and the ease with which the service progressed.

We were able to participate in the funeral service for our sister Ruth in New Plymouth, livestreaming from British Columbia, Canada, and it was a seamless connection. We are so grateful to Eagers for setting this up, and connecting our family around the world. It meant so much to all of us, and Eagers is to be commended for their excellent technology to allow this. Huge thanks!!

There are Funeral Directors and there are "Funeral Directors"... we are so pleased that Eagers Funerals took over the necessary arrangements for our family. From the time our father passed away, receiving our father and taking him to the funeral home.... through to the celebrating of Dads life, it was done so in a sensitive, respectful, caring and kind manner. Thank you Glen for Dads first journey to the funeral home. Thank you Richard that our Dad was not left alone. Eagers have a very strong company ethos. This is evident in all the team. We wanted to give Dad a memorable celebration - Richard and the team made this a reality. We have had the most amazing and memorable celebration and truly believe Dad would have been proud. Nothing was too little or too big to ask. No question was too silly. They listened to our hearts and delivered beyond our expectations a most beautiful celebration of Dads life. Professional yet very easy to talk to - our connection was as if we were already friends.... A huge heart of thanks to Sam our celebrant. Thankyou Sam for listening to our thoughts and stories. You took all of this and connected them together to presented our thoughts and feelings which embodied our father. Thank you for your confidence and assurance that everything was going to be "alright". Your strength and support helped us get through today. Richard you did the same. Nicky, thank you for your endless admin help with printing and photos. You all worked tirelessly putting this all together in a short time frame. Truly we could not have done this for Dad otherwise. The Te Henui Chapel set the mode of a relaxed inclusive atmosphere for the last farewell of our father . Contemporary in its style a beautiful facility. The Chapel surroundings peaceful, relaxing and welcoming. We highly recommend the services of Eagers Funerals .
We believe Eagers Funerals have set a new benchmark for funeral services.
Be assured that the celebration of your loved ones life will be a life time memorable one.

My mother died recently at the beginning of the lock down. Being in the South Island it was impossible to attend a funeral, Casey & Richard provided the family with an alternative, an online funeral. What they presented was way above expectations. A beautiful and very personal funeral. It was the next best thing to actually being present in the chapel. Their attention to detail was amazing and given not a lot of personal detail was provided they gleaned detail to present I hadn't even thought about with family touches very personal to us. Thank you Casey & Richard.

I highly recommend the outstanding services provided to my family by Eagars Funeral Services, New Plymouth.
When Mum was diagnosed with metastatic cancer in June this year, and given a poor prognosis of weeks to months to live, she decided to face this situation head on, she wanted to be actively involved in the planning of her funeral, and she wanted to meet and feel comfortable with the funeral directors that would care for her when she died. So we set out to visit and inspect all of the funeral homes in New Plymouth.
The decision to use Eagars Funeral Services over any of the other funeral homes was an easy one to make. We were all won over by the level of compassion, care, respect and professionalism shown to Mum and to us by Richard, Casey and their dedicated team. Eagars facilities are also outstanding and are set in a quite special tranquil tree lined location, with an elegant funeral home building and their stunning Te Henui Chapel.
Richard was our funeral director and from the start to the finish we felt comfort and trust in him to handle all aspects of Mums care and her funeral service. His ability to focus on what is important to his clients was much appreciated, nothing was too much trouble and we were absolutely impressed with the way everything was handled.
This was the perfect location, and we had the perfect funeral director to help us celebrate our Mums life and to say farewell. Thank you.
PS. Dad has informed us, that he has decided to book in with Eagars when his day comes.

Kelsey and the team at Eagars Funerals did a fabulous job of helping my family and I navigate the process of organising and conducting my mothers funeral. They have many contacts and recommendations which made choosing the details much easier. Someone was always available to answer questions via phone calls and emails. They provided technical support with creating a photographic slideshow and live streaming of the funeral to friends and family nationally and internationally. Te Henui Chapel is a gorgeous venue both inside, with the modern facilities, and out with the trees and gardens. The Daimler hearse was a the perfect way to transport mum to her final resting place. Thanks to Kelsey, Glenn and Richard.

Mum and I had visited Eagars and the Chapel a few years ago and they did not disappoint when Dad passed away in June. Casey was so professional, well organised and caring. She was great to deal with even when we changed some details. The staff were always available to put us at ease and guide us through this difficult time. The chapel is wonderful and I am sure Dad enjoyed his last ride in the Cadillac.

Recently we had Eagar’s Funeral Services deliver our Mum’s funeral. Our experience was made easy with Casey Eager. Her professionalism, advice, direction and empathy were of the highest standard.
Our Mum passed away on Christmas morning at the New Plymouth hospice and within a very short time Casey was at the hospice assuring us everything would be taken care of and she would do her best to have Mum home later in the day, which she did. This was our greatest Christmas gift ever! Thanks to Casey, Mum was home with us to share our family Christmas.
That speaks volumes about the compassion and love Casey has for others. She also had Mum looking absolutely beautiful and we couldn’t have been happier.
During this difficult time the team were extremely supportive and helpful and made the planning happen effortlessly and with ease. We felt great comfort and confidence that everything was taken care of.
The Te Henui Chapel was the perfect setting for Mum, it was elegant and had a warm and loving feel. The service was beautiful and out-weighed our expectations. Mum would have been so proud of her Life Celebration. Our family and friends were very impressed with the way the team welcomed and took care of them, even the children were provided with toys to keep them amused out in the foyer.
It felt very special and an honour to have Mum driven to the Cemetery in their British Daimler hearse, another unique service that the team were able to offer.
We were also impressed with the exceptional after care, offering support groups and counselling services should we need it to help with our grief and loss.
I would highly recommend Casey and her team for this experience. We are extremely grateful to have had them be part of Mums final journey.

To all the Team at Eager's,
We the family can't thank you all enough for everything you helped us with in relation to Dad, after his passing of recent. From the beginning arranging all the details, to the collection from the Hospital, to dressing him & making him look so lovely & peaceful. Thank you for such a beautiful service & putting us in touch with the lovely Sam Bennett, the peaceful atmosphere in the lovely Te Henui Chapel & the food you organised on our behalf with the cuppa after the service.
We were honestly happy with the service sheets & couldn't fault your expertise right the way through.
Thank you again from the family of the late Eric Bird.

After our Dad passed away we asked Richard,Casey and William at Eagers to look after Dad and help arrange his service. From the moment we first met Richard he put our mind at rest that Dad would be looked after and the funeral arrangements would be made as easy as possible. Nothing we asked was too much trouble for Eagers and every little detail was carried out with professionalism, care and respect. We held Dads service in the Te Henui Chapel which is an incredible venue. It is modern and comfortable and enabled us to celebrate Dads life in a positive and uplifting way. It is a difficult subject to discuss but our family were pleasantly surprised that the costs for such a fantastic service and venue were more than reasonable. The after care was also amazing with William visiting with Mum a few weeks later just to "have a chat" Thank you Richard,Casey and William for making this difficult time such a wonderful family memory.

Casey, Richard and their amazing team at Eagers allowed our family to give our loving Dad, Husband and all round great guy the send off that he deserved when his life was cut off too short in September 2018. It was such a horrible time for us, which was made that much easier by Casey's professionalism yet down to earth nature. At such short notice they ensured that all our wishes were met and allowed us to have a very unique and personal send off. We now look back on that time and are able to smile knowing that Dad would be proud, and we still feel supported by Eagers funeral home having shared such an emotional and personal experience with them. Our entire family couldn't recommend them anymore. We will forever be grateful for their understanding, help and professional service.

From start to finish of my father-in-law's funeral, Casey and Richard at Eagars were supportive, helpful and a pleasure to deal with.
At a difficult time, they made the whole funeral process easier for all of the family. They listened to our wishes and preempted our needs, even to the point of bringing the empty casket to our house so that the young grandkids could decorate their poppas coffin with pictures and messages before the laid him out. They helped us to make it about him and for him. Everything they did allowed our whole family to feel included, in control and at ease with the process.
Their new facilities at the Te Henui Chapel are lovely and inviting, right down to welcome from Spencer the dog!
They are friendly and professional, I would highly recommend Eagars Funerals.

I could not fault the care, sensitivity and professional attention to detail and guidance given to my family from Casey and Richard when my Dad died during what is an emotional and sad time. That in itself is a true gift and very much appreciated. The facilities and chapel are beautifully designed, every detail well thought out and we were able to live stream to family and friends all over the world who could not attend in time.

A big thank you from our family to Kelsey and the team for the wonderful help and support you gave us on the recent passing of our much loved Dad.
Your venue was outstanding to hold dad's final farewell in and the extra things you did over and above for our family was appreciated. Nothing appeared to be a problem and this helped us over this sad time.
We would not hesitate to recommend Kelsey to any family who needed a wonderful and caring person to deal with.
A.
A huge thank you to Casey, Richard and William who helped us through the recent death of our mother, Shirley Elgar. The challenges of dealing with a relatively sudden death, were made much less stressful by the professional and caring way in which they guided us through the process. The respectful way in which they dealt with mum, the very considerate way they supported dad and the handling all our questions and stresses thoughtfully, accommodating our wishes , means we cannot recommend them more highly.
P.
Eagars had been recommended to us by others who had recently experienced their services, and we were not disappointed.
Casey listened to our ideas, and offered advice and guidance that resulted in a unique service which exactly followed the family's wishes and philosophies. This included an introduction to our chosen celebrant Beverley McLean who was just right for us, as was the facility inside the Te Henui cemetery gates.
We would have to rate Eagars as 5 star -
that's the only option when the service is perfect.

Eagars took care of both my parents when they passed away within seven months of each other. We found Richard very helpful & compationate. He made the hole process stress free in such a hard & emotional time. More of a good friend experience instead of a business transaction. The Chapel & home are second to none.

Eagars ran a very professional funeral service for our Mother Ruth today. A number of mourners contributed via zoom, and all went well.
thanks Richard . Recommended

Our father passed away last week, 10 months after our mother.
Both were the hard, wrenching, grief filled occasions that anyone can sadly imagine.
Graham was our funeral director for both, and I would most definitely add a friend at these grim times.
Its difficult to list all the many things, the attentions to detail, he helped and supported our clan through, they were many.
From letting us drive the hearse to the cemetery, to taking care of a bored young child during the service he provided all the support required and his training at our Mothers death made our Fathers passing so much easier.
I unreservedly recommend him, as would our whole family.
Although professionally I'm in no hurry to meet him again, I know that as the generations cycle through life it would be him I would go to again in our extended clans darkest hours.

What an absolutely awesome, welcoming, calming place to have a ceremony. I attended a funeral at this stunning chapel and it had such a lovely feeling about it. The sound in the chapel was absolutely awesome and the electronic photo screen at the front was gorgeous! Well done Eagers.... what a stunning venue you have created.

It is a hard time for all in New Zealand at present and because of these times, like so many others, I recently shared in the service of a friend via the internet. As a team, Eagers were unbelievable in their professionalism and their ability to adapt and use technology in a way that exemplified both dignity and compassion. You deserve thanks for your efforts, and for what you did to allow us all to share in such a farewell. Well done to all the team.
R.
We had an amazing celebration of Gini's life at the chapel. Gini wanted fun, laughter and pink balloons and we had it all. Gini would have been annoyed to have missed it! Casey is an outstanding host and with Kelsey, Richard and William in the team it was a 5 star service. Thank you team ... a memory long to be remembered.

I cannot speak highly enough of the service, compassion and professionalism we received from the team at Eagars for my mum’s funeral.
Their care of mum and of us during our time of grief was amazing.
The service at the beautiful Te Henui chapel was perfect.
Thank you

To team Eagar.
Thank you so much for providing our family the care, compassion and advice when we really needed it. Nothing was too much trouble, you had all the answers and provided a complete and professional service. It was so much easier to deal with our grief when we knew everything would be taken care of. Thank you so much for all you did for the Bell family.
