Stunning piece of architecture. Standing on the northern side of the bridge looking back towards the mountain it looks as if the bridge is a wave and it is breaking over the mountain. Great photo opportunity whilst walking along the coastal walkway. Very popular spot on a summers day

Lovely place to spend a day or three nights if you have a motorhome. Great lake side walks with the dogs. Highly recommended 👌

Beautiful architecture and park with so many activities that you can do. When I was there, people were cycling, walking, on jet skis, going for a swim, having a picnic, etc. Beautiful place, and if you're lucky, you might see Mt. Taranaki clearly. Note: Bridge is currently being repainted so you might not be able to take a good photo of the whole bridge as there are some scaffolding on a part of it.

Really cool bridge! It's on the coastal walkway heading north from Fitzroy beach. A lovely easy walk along a shared path. On a clear day Mt Taranaki is behind the bridge creating a spectacular pic.

Beautiful landmark, especially when the weather is better, you can see the Mt Taranaki. It's my second time, the first one was with my walking buddies and this second time was with my husband and daughter, but the weather didn't permit us to see the Mount. Otherwise, it's still cool.

A nice walk along the beach or cycle on cycle path takes you to this bridge that offers a wonderful photo oppertunity with Mnt Taranaki directly behind the bridge looking south. Some parts of the bridge had paint peeling that was not nice.

Lovely bridge with smart architecture. Would suggest people to hire electric bikes or cycles when visiting this place. Also, good for camping around the area.

This is a gorgeous spot. Best to go on a calm day, especially when the mountain is clear. Unfortunately we didn't get the view and it was terribly windy.

It's amazing how nature and people can coexist peacefully. This is an incredible place and it has one of the most beautiful views of Mount Taranaki. Walk, enjoy a sunny day, make a barbecue with family and friends. You will never regret spending a day there. The coastal walking is the best.

Gorgeous setting & amazing bridge that on one side looks like a "normal" bridge but as you approach, changes to look like a fish skeleton. Lovely views & easy, flat walks.

Quiet part of the coastal beach Walkway. You can see the iconic Mount Egmont in the distance from here, very picturesque. This Walkway is shared between pedestrians, cyclists and pets, so care should be taken at all times when in the area. Plenty of public parking nearby.

A really interesting bit of engineering to add a great point of interest to the amazing coastal walkway. New Plymouth is such a great little city.

What a great bridge, you can go along the board walk trail, which follows the coast to Bell Block, or to New Plymouth. The magnificent bridge looks fantastic with mount Taranaki as a backdrop.

Long walk from the CBD but worth it, or take a bike. Just make sure you plan your day and that the mountain will be clear, otherwise there is nothing around. We got lucky and waited about 5 mins and it was the clearest it was all weekend.

Pretty cool bridge, interesting design based off of a whale. Paint in many places starting to fade and peel off and some graffiti on end which is too bad. It is on one side of the coastal walk which we couldn't do unfortunately because of weather.

Nice Walk, beautiful Bridge, very busy and lots of bikes.

One of the best places in New Plymouth. The setup is perfect. River flowing into sea, awarding winning bridge, long cycling tracks along the sea. The views are quite awestruck and peaceful. Large open spaces with gud view of the sea and the long skies. If you are lucky with the weather then Mt. Taranaki shud be visible.Well I was not. Kids friendly place withe proper tracks for the stroller. A must visit place if in New Plymouth.

The bridge is part of the northern extension to the Coastal Walkway, connecting New Plymouth with Bell Block. A 8km walking, cycling, or running track..for everyone.

Well I thought "Meh." However hubby loved the design. The walkway/shared pathway was smooth and functional. Dogs are allowed on lead.

Interesting place! There is a nice sitting area around the lake nearby. One can have a nice walk or can bike on the track. There is a decent car park as well. Also one can have good views of Mt. Taranaki.

Nice walk, even better if you can ride a bike there. It can get windy there, so carry appropriate clothing if you feel cold too quickly.

Te Rewa Rewa Bridge is a striking design feature on the foreshore near Fitzroy Taranaki

This architectural uniqueness is called Fish Bone. Made in a shape of fish bone. A walking or biking trail through the banks of Waiwhakaiho river adds beaty to the view of Mount Taranaki where last Samurai was created. Beaty on earth. Not sharing the photos due to privacy.

I walked the coastal walk from wind wand to bridge which takes around hour. Situated north from Fitzroy camping ground it is a easy walking or cycle path. There are toilets just before the bridge. I think it resembles a wave celebrating the coastal beach. Walk over the bridge and turn at end and if it is a good day you will get a great photo of Mt Taranaki in the distance. Beautiful architectural design along the Coastal Walkway.

As seen in just about any promotional photography for New Plymouth, the "whale bone bridge" was busy with walkers, cyclists, and mobility scooter riders. Can do with a clean as it's no longer as pristine, but otherwise worth a visit.

It’s walking bridge and standing on single beam support in a very wonderful fashion If you are passing through the New Plymouth must view this beautiful bridge to witness its Beauty. You have to walk to access the bridge along the riverside and can view the intersection connecting the lake water falling into the sea

The iconic bridge in the city of New Plymouth. The walkway of which it is a part, is awesome and offers some good views to the landscape around. The bridge itself is an architectural masterpiece and a famous photo spot for tourists. A prominent one of the many things to do in the region. Ample parking is available at the beginning of the walkway. Well recommended.

What a cool bridge. If you catch it on a day with a clear sky, you can get a pretty good photo with the Mountain at the end of the bridge. Unfortunately the day that I went, the clouds were covering the mountain. Follow the board walk from downtown or park right at the bridge to get the great views of the river/ocean.

I had waited a long time to view this foot bridge, and I was not disappointed. The design is perfect and the view of Mt Taranaki framed by the bridge is totally awesome. Don't miss it. Coming back in the winter so I can see the mountain with her snowcap on.

Very nice view of Mount Taranaki on side, the reserve on the other side, and the river and river delta from the middle of the bridge. The bridge itself is quite small and short. Parking is not far away from the bridge. The view at sunset is beautiful, but might took you awhile to get a nice photo as there's usually a lot of people around.

Nice viewingspot of the mountain. Best on clear days. You can park a few minutes walk away from the bridge. Also you can take a nice stroll along the shore on different walkways or take a long walk one way along the shore path to New Plymouth.

So special, really beautiful spot. Showcases the Naki perfectly. Easy to get to by bike or on foot and also great parking if you want to drive there.

Amazing and beautiful place. Gives you an impression that you are in the skeleton of shark. Nearby lake as well. Have seen kids playing in water and people come for fishing.

Interesting bridge. If you are a fan of architecture it's definitely worth going there. Walked all the way from New Plymouth, using the coastal walk. Just beautiful. Though, it took my three hours to go there, hang out for a bit and walk back. So, don't forget to bring some water.

Good place for some walking, running and cycling. Paths are well maintained, clean and tidy. Get some good pictures of the bridge with the mt taranaki afar if the weather is clear.

Visited the place on june of 2018. The bridge has stunning views from far . When u walk inside it . It doesn’t look that fantastic ...just another bridge . The bridge is idle for a photographer searching for a credit to his or her best photos . I have added some photos of the bridge . Please view and comment . If you travel a little bit further from the bridge you have the beach access which is an awesome place for surfing . You will also have access to public toilet and public water. We went there and had our lunch . Waste disposal is also available there .and heaps of people were surfing . The waves were really good . Bad luck for me i never learned surfing . The notion to build this awesome bridge in that remote area is still confusing me .

It's a cool design for a bridge and if you're lucky enough you get to see the top of Mt Taranaki behind it. The coastal walk from city center is wonderful to get to the bridge. There's a picnic area very near by with a car parking, from one of those tables it's also possible to see Mt Taranaki

Beautiful Bridge! Great parking areas, great access via pathways and cycleways. Leads on to the NP Coastal Walkway for walking and cycling to Bell Block.

Lets you cross the Waiwhakaiho river without getting wet

Very nice, loads of walks round here, unfortunately we were in a bit of a rush, just a nostalgic visit to where I used to go for heaps of white bait, many years past.

Nice piece of architecture, and a cool place to view Mt Taranaki from. Takes a lot of waiting to be able to time a good shot here, since there are always people walking, standing or biking.

Awesome place to walk. I walked to the bridge from the city. Sadly no coffee shop or Street wise cart by the bridge. We have visited 3 land marks in New Plymouth, and horrified of the lack of coffee shops / carts at the walks & gardens. Tupare had no coffee shop, (Please note: We were Tourists to Taranaki, and expected to find coffee shops at these places. Being tourists, we didn't know were the nearest cafe was to these land marks). We were not impressed with the cafe at Dawson Falls after the long drive from New Plymouth. The cafe was too small inside & at the counter area, with limited selection of food. Club sandwiches would have been nice, rather than chunky bread sandwiches; however the service was good. - people who do not know the area, do not know where to drive to find the next / nearest cafe to your tourist attractions, for a coffee cart or better cafe selection).

Quite an interesting and impressive structure. An easy 4.5km walk from the Wind Wand along the very scenic Coastal Walkway.

Te Rewa Rewa Bridge is very unique to tangata whenua{ people of the land} it resembles {paikia} bones of a whale and is sacred to Maori. An ancester our connection to tangaroa. It lays over te awa waiwakiaho river and has stunning views of te maunga puke_anaki Mount Egmont. A must see when visiting New plymouth.

Still attracts hundreds of tourists and exercising locals every day. Regularly maintained the structure is as fresh and clean as the day it opened. Well done NPDC

Beautiful viewing point of the bridge and mountain. If you dont want to walk the whole thing you can drive up nearby and walk a few mins to the bridge.

A fine bridge . Useful as it seems to have a pipeline in its construction. As well it takes you to town or Bell block on bike, walking or just looking. Perfect photo shows Taranaki but cloud can cover the mountain. Lots of other interesting views around the bridge. Lots of birds are close too plus island.
