Absolutely beautiful...family friendly stunning place to visit

Lovely day for a beautiful scenic walk along the walkway and round the lake with our dog. A wonderful event put on by the local Lions club.

A camping ground and public loos. Places to sit and eat while watching the surf. A typical west coast beach gives us surfing and black sand with lots of drift wood.

Beatifull area .nice tidy town met some nice local. Caravan park one of the best. Only drawback was the 3 local lowlife scum we saw at the freedom camping area above the beach terrorizing the campers in the late afternoon from a black holden commodore . Rego FDG409. Police generally not interested could not advise when or if they could get someone there. What a great country we live in .. nnot

Easily Taranaki's best family beach by Tangaroa's design......maybe a 'shop' option and a music speaker in play area, and generally some planting/flowers to create some atmosphere would enhance as a venue....office closed at 5pm on Sunday - monday/Tuesday I could understand.

Beautiful spot right by the sea for freedom camping. 3 nights free, flush toilets, fishing on the ramp or rocks at low tide. Shopping centre very nice, great food at the 4 square & dairy has takeaways, pizza, lots of second hand shops, sovereign shops. Lovely stationer shop selling wooden toys. Highly recommended

A wonderful seaside bay. It has a camping ground, very well kept. There is a great surf beach, with a lifeguard station.

Absolutley fabulous beach. Soft black sand, great surf to play in, rocks to clamber over, all in a protected bay. What more could you ask for in a beach? Add to that excellent facilites for changing, a camp ground, a fully patrolled surf club and a camp shop and you have a recipe for paradise. The beach is safe for all ages and great for families. If you are anywhere in the Taranaki region you simply have to check this place out. Highly recommend.

Camp here every 2 years and I love it. The beach itself is amazing and I always see plenty of people out surfing. Sad they got rid of the old play ground though.

This is a hidden gem. A must visit. Great for a family to come and chill out. The toilets are clean and tidy. They have a great play area for the littlies and you have the beach. What more would you need

(Translated) The beach is very nicely framed by 2 rocks, facing southwest, which makes sunsets particularly enjoyable. The Clifftop Gardens are immediately afterwards. There is a playground, a surf school and a campsite on site. We recommend! (Original) Der Strand ist sehr schön eingerahmt von 2 Felsen, ausgerichtet nach Südwesten, wodurch Sonnenuntergänge besonders gut zu genießen sind. Die Clifftop Gardens sind direkt im Anschluss. Vor Ort befinden sich ein Spielplatz, eine Surfschule und ein Campingplatz. Sehr zu empfehlen!
