M.
Such a beautiful place and well maintained freedom camp site.
Lots of space, tranquil river, fish jumping, little reserve and great info all round under lovely building
L.
Love staying here. Beautiful quiet spot. Had a great bike ride through the gorge to the slip.
J.
The experience was very nice with the amazing views looking up at the hills in the morning.
Keep in mind if you do plan to stay here in a tent it can get very windy and blow your tent side to side.
The wind I experienced was 37kmph.
The camping ground has very clean toilets a free BBQ and a shelter along with a 100m bush walk with native bush on both sides.
E.
Nice big space. Lots of walking tracks.
G.
Awesome place for freedom camping! Nice and clean long drops. PLENTY of space to park your camper van or pitch a tent. Morning sun is breath taking. Scenic views are amazing! Nice grilling areas. And awesome place to swim (of course). Cons: there’s a slight dip getting down to the river (someone may hurt them self, if not careful).
J.
One of the best freedom spots we have so far found, the views are quite spectacular, tonnes of room, a picturesque river and piece and quiet...toilets are 24hrs but they are long drops with no running water
K.
Lovely spot to park up for a few days and relax great for the dogs thanks Tararua council. We are very lucky to have spots like this in New Zealand.
S.
Such a wonderful place to be whether you are freedom camping by the river or just stretching your legs. Has toilet facilities and bbq. Close to Woodville.
J.
Plenty of room, clean toilets, nice spot on the River bend, surrounded by forested slopes. Beautiful forest walks very close by.
D.
This is an awesome place to stop, camp, picnic or spend some quality family time. Plenty of room for everyone.
J.
Wonderful freedom camping spot beside the river. Tranquil camping since the Manawatu Gorge road is closed, no large vehicles thundering over the bridge any more.
R.
Lovely place to stay, didn't use toilets and couldn't find the water tap. A few people picniking and 3 cars and 3 Motorhomes overnight
J.
One of the best freedom camping spots close enough to Palmerston North to make it an easy hop across the saddle road
A.
Lovely camp ground room for large vehicles clean long drop toilets river not fit to swim
S.
Lovely area with toilets, shelter, BBQ and a written history of the area. Sitting here with a view of the river which after last night's heavy rain is very high and the bush slips an all. Magicial
P.
Awesome freedom camping grounds with toilets and bbq and heaps of room with a river to go for a swim.
P.
Good swimming spot but when the jet boaters are there, you have to find a new spot.
J.
Great campsite for both tents and camper vans. It has three toilets, a little gas stove for public use and a nice little walk through the woods. Well maintained and heaps of spots!
R.
Free campground, huge and really nice, with beautiful sunsets and sunrises
S.
Beautiful spot where you have enough space without neighbours
R.
I like this reserve - it has picnic tables, BBQ spots, toilets and plenty of space for picnic blankets and swimming. Water is clean but cold, and its always warmer after 11am . Space for loads of tents or campers, and the road makes it safe even in winter
T.
Beautiful large location in a gorge valley next to the river. Clean toilets.
Y.
What a lovely spot. Lots of room for overnighters, with the cleanest long drop loos I've ever seen. If you have dogs, like me, there are a number of walks, plus the river for a bit of swimming on a hot afternoon. I would happily recommend Woodville ferry reserve to both campers and day trippers alike.
Update: not sure what is going on with the long drop loos, but they are pretty yucky at the moment 3/4/21
D.
Scenic views are just amazing. Loved
L.
Best long drop toilets I've seen. Plenty of space to park large vehicles. Very windy when we were there. Would return.
A.
Was nice quiet spit to stay and it still open as it from the brige at woodville end the george is closed due to the slips couple years back so is great to be able to still enjoy this reserve freedom camo spot

(Translated) Camping site very nice with the river to the side and paths to go. A lot of free space and not too many people when we went. I do not put 5 stars because the wind can blow very hard and have a night moved inside the van. In addition, we had the visit of a mouse that entered the trunk and ate part of our food before we woke up with the noise of gnawing cardboard from the boxes. You have to be careful not to leave anything outside that can attract animals.
