Had a great family birthday picnic. Plenty of parking. Super safe shallow water for the little ones. Very clean toilet facilities. Great to see the park used by so many people today. Picnic tables for the early birds and shade under the trees for the cars. Will definitely use more.

Lovely peaceful place to take the kids. Throw stones in the river, play on the open grass area or playground. Trees for shade and picnic tables.

Nice place for family picnic with a nice children's playground. Unfortunately some inconsiderate users have chose own convenience over care of the park by choosing to park on the grass where they should not resulting in destruction of the lawn leaving big ugly muddy tyre track all over the place.

Awesome place to take the family...great facility...I was impressed with how the council had the rubbish removed on a regular basis throughout the day...I've been going to the domain for over 40 years and it's had subtle changes over the years but is still a nice little piece of paradise situated away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life

Love this place, especially the new murals! I take my lizard down here to catch some sun and everyone is always polite and happy. Cute little park, lovely river, amazing native birds.

Nice walks along the river toilet facilities available allowed to take dog there but needs to be on leash not all people abide by that. Great for cyclists too. Need to be on guard though as not all have bells to warn you when approaching especially when walking with little ones small playground too

Gorgeous park?! Some beautiful trails to walk with your family. Nice, flat trails with beautiful views of the river and some farmlands. Pet friendly, lots of parking. A must-see.

Great place to spend your afternoon with your family, your friends, your date or anyone else who wants to explore a picturesque walk along the crystal clear river. Its quiet out here (birds might be the exception) and the walk is flat, so its super easy for kids and senior citizens to walk around. You hear so many birds and they take really good care of the area. They plant quiet a few new trees all around the park. I will definitely come back again for a picnic.

Always a lovely outing. Beautiful walking both both ways around the river. Overfed black swans on the Waimanu lagoon a bit scary for small children.

A hub for all ages! Great for kids, playground, opens spaces, a bridge and ducks. Also a exercise hub, from here you can walk, run and ride both South and North sides of the River track. We'll worth a visit team!

Awesome swimming in the river. Great walking track, family park and amenities. Only issue is speeding cyclist along the walking tracks, witness a a few near misses. Maybe council need to widen tracks and cyclist slow down as well.

A lovely park with a large open space, access to a nice trail along the river for several kilometers, and a cool pedestrian bridge. If you live nearby I recommend the Kapiti Parkrun, a free 5k event which happens in the park every Saturday at 8AM.

The last time I was at the river there was no bridge, no homes on the Waikanae side. We'd go there to camp. You'd have to swim across the river. I had a nice brief walk along the river. Next time my sister comes to stay, I will definitely take her there for a walk of memories.

The domain is an excellent place to walk or run and you can even have a picnic there. Saturday mornings there is a 5km parkrun / walk start time 8am great way to start the day and meet others. Best of all it is free.

Great area for a family gathering. Large grass area for fun activities with a cricket pitch. Large playground. Toilets available and a river to cool down in. Walk track to enjoy the greenery.

Its a great spot where people can set up a gazebo or more and have a great with the family. It could be better by having pay to use bbq's around the location. The footbridge to Waikanae beach is great but i found the walkways to be a little too congested when it came to taking young children for a walk with bicycles everywhere. There is a very narrow entrance and exit to the domain for vehicles. It suggests its a one way loop road but there are no signs or painted arrows on the asphalt. The kids pkayground provided limited activities for the 7 and under age range. I think the local coubcil could make better use of this asset.

Saturday morning, 8am, come for the free parkrun and run or walk 5k in the company of some of the friendliest folk around in this beautiful setting. Ample parking and toilets just nearby make a lovely riverside setting, and there's a playground for the kids.

Brilliant place to spend the hole day with the families, there's swings for the little ones and plenty of carpark, and there's a bridge which everyone can cross over to the other side of the river or the kids can feed the ducks from it, and a walk way as well, check it out its awesome.
