Simple ten minute walk along the river, nice way to stretch your legs. Google maps has the trailhead marked incorrectly: do not turn off at the gateway to the moonlight lodge but instead carry on down to the riverside and park.

Short walk to a waterfall, recommended following Google detections to find this as its quite easy to drive past, at first you will think your heading the wrong way but just keep following it as it is taking you to the right place, and also recommend that you stop driving once you pass the green buildings, their will be a little part were you can park your car, going past this point my led to getting your car stuck as the sand can become uneven, then walk for 2 minutes and you'll find a little post that will led you on the right way to start walking

Hidden gem of a place. Don't drive down onto the soft sand unless you have a vehicle that can handle off road terrain.
Nice short walk on a good track to a lookout up the river.

Wow, just wow. Who knew such beauty existed on such a simple walk along a river?
Turquoise waters and silence.

Super easy walk, just 10 minutes. You don't get to see the tunnel entrance, but instead a great view over the valley. If you climb down a small path midway the walk, you can get to the beautiful boulders at the tunnel exit.

Easy but beautiful walk 😍

Great walk, sheer drop. Dog friendly. Just a 10 minute walk, hardly a hike.

Amazing view another side of Shotver.

Turning left just before crossing the historic bridge to get to Shotover river from Queenstown you find yourself on a gravel road leading to the Historic Tunnel Walk. The gravel road become difficult to cross with out a 4x4 however the short walking distance adds to the scenic walk.
The tunnel opening can not be viewed from the top of the cliff where the trail leads you, rather it can only be viewed by kayak on the other had where the water exits the tunnel can be excess by going off the trail it self. The detour is not recommended to be undertaken on a rainy day as the edge is steep and slippery.
The is well worth it for those who like exploring but don’t not want to wonder to far into the wild.
