Reviews of Karioi Summit Track

A tough but rewarding climb with awsome views from the top.

Not bad. It took us 3.5 hours return. We didn't stop often nor did we enjoy the view from the summit for very long as there were already large groups of people making it hard to do so. The beginning was the hardest imo. But once you reach under the remnant native canopy it gets fun.

This a very challenging 'advance' track but well worth the views from the summit on a clear day! The track is very muddy and can be very slippery and steep (even dangerous) in sections. You will need to use the chains and your hands to climb and likely your shoes and socks will be covered in mud in the end 🤙 It took us 6 and half hours with a few stops along the way. Definitely one of the most difficult tracks ive done due to the slippery mud.

A challenging walk: steep- a couple of ladders, much rock, mud, so can be slippery. You want a decent level of fitness. This range is stunning and the views are expansive long before you reach the summit. Highly recommended.

Espectacular! This is a medium/hard hike so be aware of this. There are very steep parts. I went on a very hot/dry day but the forest is very dense it’s kind of chill in the shade AAAND there’s a lot of mud! Can’t imagine this place after a rain.
At the begging it says: “Follow the orange arrows”. For a moment I was scared because there is a point where there are no more arrows only pink ones but after about 10 minutes the orange ones appear again.

A strenuous but worth it walk. Sweeping sea views and bush. Chains and ropes to climb with steep metal stairs. The walk is one of the best I have done.

This is a tough climb. Muddy in the top half where the clouds cover the mountain top occasionally. Chains and ladder at several points to help you climb or descend (probably couldn’t do it without them). But the views from the lookout are spectacular (we did not make it too the summit). Well worth the effort. Note - the mud is very sticky and requires a major scrub to get off your skin or clothes. Still worth it!!

It was a hard trek. My 12 year old son and I walked the karioi track to the summit. It took 5 and a half hours long return. The views were definitely worth it. Spectacular and breathtaking 🤩

Going to the summit is real fun. The way is muddy but the view at the top is worth it. It is a good workout too, so do not hesitate.
